I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

I've been weighing myself every day and getting some really odd numbers, even if I try again an hour or 2 later it can be completely different! That's why I don't record it except from once a week, and why you're not supposed to keep checking every 5 minutes, because as it naturally fluctuates you can get despondent and give up. I've been up and down between 12.8 and 13st this week!! Seriously!! It can vary depending how hydrated you are, when you last ate, when you last used the bathroom, your hormones, anything really. If your heaviest this week is down a pound or 2 from your heaviest a fortnight ago I reckon it's all good.

Maria53 · 14/05/2020 20:38

Wow ok, good to know I'm not the only one! I was wondering if maybe I had rubbish scales and should stop replying on them.

Thanks for the uplift! I think you are probably right. I think I will I am out of the woods so to speak once I get into the lower side of 12st. Then I will feel I am really on track.

Keen to try some new recipes if anyone has some. Mainly eating vege, chicken and fish.

lovinglavidaloca · 14/05/2020 21:28

I go through stages of weighing every day and weighing weekly. In this latest attempt at weight loss I’m going for weekly just to try and get a truer picture of my losses.

fairyfingers · 14/05/2020 21:54

Maria I sometimes weigh every day and it can be awfully demoralising. I can remember being chuffed to bits that it looked like I lost 2lb in a week, weighed the next day and put on 3. I seriously cried.

I am trying hard to stick to every 7 days now. Like someone said if I'm vaguely going down that's ok. I realised I am about 5/6 lbs lighter than pre lockdown and I only really started making an effort a few weeks ago so even though the scales are mean, the general direction is ok.

Maria53 · 14/05/2020 22:14

I generally weigh twice a week. I have a specific day and then a 'check' about mid week to see how it is going.

I'm going to stick it out and if I am static then I will reconsider. I am 4 pounds lighter currently than 1 month ago. But it does go up and down depending. I gained 3 pounds the week of my period.

Today:

Breakfast: 1/2 glass smoothie - 50

Lunch: Baked sweet potato - 200
Grapes - 100
Yoghurt - 50

Dinner: Egg cress mayo - 400
Lettuce and spring onions - negligible
Flat bread - 100
Strawberries - 50
Cake - 150

Total: 1100

I've not felt really hungry all day either, which is great. Nothing worse than feeling hungry when you're on a diet!

I spent well over an hour in the sea, had a very short but brisk walk and did Joe Wicks.

Pickles89 · 14/05/2020 23:26

Has anyone else noticed an improvement in their skin? Mine is heaps better! I mean, it still has heaps of teeny spots, but I've not had the raging acne that I have been having for well over 6 months now. It just seems to have cleared up with the diet! I guess it's down to less sugar? I vividly remember a teen magazine, way back when, promising me that a sugar-spots link was a myth!! I'm sure it's that though, unless maybe the decrease in gluten.

QuestionableMouse · 14/05/2020 23:28

I've just started Weight Watchers. Weighed myself. For the first time in years and I'm 22 stone. 😭😭☹️☹️☹️

Been on it for three days now, combined with plenty of gentle exercise (cause I managed to rip my toe nail off the other day so I'm hobbling 🤢😕😕)

Hoping to lose a couple of pounds a week to start.

Maria53 · 15/05/2020 00:14

What kind of smoothies do you make @Pickles89? I have just started making them.

And yes to skin! I've been on meds for years for acne and since coming off them I was worried my skin would really suffer for it. But my skin looks way better and I barely apply any make up at all now when I go out. I personally think large amounts if pollution affects my skin so I think being indoors has helped with that too.

rivierliedje · 15/05/2020 08:01

I keep going in circles with the weight, up and down and up again, and horrifyingly it is all the most I have ever weighed (even the lower weights).
I need some sort of plan.

wombatsandaplant · 15/05/2020 12:34

I think I’m going to need to write off this week, it’s that time of the month and it’s my birthday so I’m eating lots of chocolate today. Somehow I don’t think I’ll lose this week. But hopefully not put anything on.

I’ve found it really motivating reading this thread. My weight has been creeping up this last year and lockdown did not help that.

So a fortnight ago I started to do a daily Zumba work out for 30 mins and a daily 5k walk, and then I’ve been doing 16:8 intermittent fasting for a week now. My scales are rubbish but I think I’ve lost about 3lbs so far which I’m pleased witj as I have PCOS and it’s hard.

I know that other methods might work better - going low carb, doing HIIT work outs etc but what I’ve learnt is that I hate them, so I don’t stick to them. Finding something I can vaguely tolerate has been important. Determined to keep going.

lovinglavidaloca · 15/05/2020 15:20

Happy birthday @wombatsandaplant! Definitely just write the week off and enjoy yourself.

@SkeletonSkins well done for finding something that works for you. I know some people swear by low carb but I just couldn’t get my carbs down to the required level so I’m calorie counting instead. Different things work for different people don’t they? :)

I’ve had a couple of treats already today! Some chocolate and half a scone with jam but all accounted for and within my calorie limit.

Pickles89 · 15/05/2020 15:21

@Maria53

Actually, I cheat and buy Innocent etc. Blush I always have, and to be honest it's one of the things I'm cutting down on! My trouble is I wake up so thirsty but can't face water in the morning. But I'm not drinking another glass or 2 throughout the day as I used to, as I find a piece of fruit more filling. It's easier in the summer with nice seasonal fruit like strawberries/raspberries/plums/nectarines. I don't like apples and the like, so tend to slip back into too many smoothies in the winter!

But smoothies are a good way of hiding some greens if you're not a fan of them!

rivierliedje · 15/05/2020 20:20

Got a first veg box delivered today and it is inspiring me to make better dinners. I have eaten too much of todays and am very full now, but it was all very healthy food (caramelised onions with spinach, quinoa, roast butternut squash and homemade baked oven chips).
I am inspired by you finding what works for you @SkeletonSkins.

QuestionableMouse · 15/05/2020 21:55

Today's exercise. I can't wait until my stupid bloody nail heals and I can do a bit more.

Also did some guided stretching from the WW app.

lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?
Pickles89 · 15/05/2020 22:44

It's horrible isn't it Mouse, I did the same a few months ago! Luckily it didn't take too long to grow out.

Pickles89 · 15/05/2020 23:12

Today:

Breakfast: 1/2 glass smoothie - 50

Lunch: Tomato soup - 200
Cake - 150

Dinner: Sweetpotato, parsnip and carrot mash - 300
Vegetarian meatballs - 150
Broccoli - 50
Nutritional yeast - 50
Grapes - 100

Total: 1050

I really want to finish with a slice of cake, but I am so full I can't even move!! Parsnips and sweet potato are either my best friends or worst enemies, I can't decide!

buckeejit · 16/05/2020 00:48

Just checking in - have been pretty good this week & trying for an alcohol free weekend 😬

Happy birthday wombats!

Even though I feel the weight is moving much too slowly for my liking & heavily disproportionately to the amount of effort I feel that I'm putting in, I still weigh myself at least every morning & night & sometimes in between as they are there right beside the toilet in the bathroom so it's too tempting to check & then I'm generally just disheartened.
The batteries are running low on the scales now so might try not to change them until Monday morn which is official weigh in. Just got my period too so know I'll have a couple of bad days where the 10k steps will be hard.

QuestionableMouse · 16/05/2020 10:26

@Pickles89 ugh yeah. Big toe too and it just makes me 🤢🤢🤢

SkeletonSkins · 16/05/2020 11:12

Thanks @rivierliedje, I’ve done things in the past but been so unhappy I haven’t stuck to them. So whilst low carb etc might make me lose weight faster, it won’t if I don’t stick to it!

Had quite a good day yesterday, did a 6k walk and my Zumba and stuck to my eating window. Woken up with a sore knee today :( so going to have a rest day on the Zumba but still try and do my walk later. Im absolutely starving but holding off until my eating window opens at 12.30!!

Pickles89 · 16/05/2020 13:29

I missed your post yesterday wombats! Hope you had an awesome birthday!! Grin

wombatsandaplant · 16/05/2020 15:32

Thanks pickles. I had a great day. Lots of chocolate.

Good news guys, I didn’t eat too much, just a normal amount, definitely getting a better relationship with food. I only put on 100g so nothing at all. Woo.
