lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

But diet Pepsi is calorie free isn't it? And it's filling, so I wouldn't have thought that's an issue, unless it's causing you to retain water maybe?

Maria53 · 07/05/2020 18:40

Yeah it is. But I read that because the diet juice mimics a sweetener, the body gets confused. Any truth in that I wonder? Wish I was more clued up on all of this!

LaneBoy · 07/05/2020 19:09

I lost weight very easily when I cut down on Pepsi Max, for what it’s worth. I wasn’t setting out to cut calories of course as it’s aspartame not sugar but I lost almost 2 stone with zero effort - I think it was fucking up my appetite.

I am missing it at the moment TBH as my rule is to only have it in pubs as I realised I prefer it on tap (and TBH I associate it with relaxing as my “me time” is sitting in the pub with a book).

But when I do have the occasional can of anything like that, whether it’s sugar or sweetener the effect it has on me is the same - grumpy, tired, sugar cravings all day. And I’m not sure if I’m imagining it, but I think I’m seeing a pattern of worse muscle aches when I’ve had something with aspartame, so I’m keeping an eye on that.

lovinglavidaloca · 07/05/2020 19:39

I’d love to kick my fizzy juice habit but a lot of the time I have it instead of a snack so I might end up worse off.

Pickles89 · 07/05/2020 20:41

@lovinglavidaloca

What I do when I have a fizz craving is pour a glass of sparkling water and add a teeney splash of juice. None of the nasties of pop, but it is filling and it does feel a bit 'special' and 'treat-like'.

Pickles89 · 07/05/2020 22:49

Today was another dodgy one as I finished off the other half of the pizza. It seems very unfair that it wasn't nearly as nice reheated, but the same number of calories!

Breakfast: Half a glass of smoothie - 50
Lunch: Twiglets - 100
Snack: Green grapes - 100
Dinner - bag of watercress, spinach and rocket - negligible
Dressing to help that down - slightly less negligible! Gunna guess at 200
Pizza - 1000

Total: 1450

Hopefully going to draw a line there and not weaken and have pudding. I just hate not finishing on something sweet! I was proud of myself last night because I wanted cake, but I made myself have half a glass of juice instead, for half the calories!

I only had a really short walk today but I have done some skipping and running up and down stairs, and Joe Wicks.

wombatsandaplant · 08/05/2020 11:57

I’m happy. I’ve lost 1.2 kg in the last 4 days. Yay. May be weighing myself most days now but anyways. I’m much more confident about losing weight now. I’m 1.9kg off my first goal of 10% lost.

That's great wombats Smile well done!

fairyfingers · 08/05/2020 16:53

Weighed in today after 5 days and lost a lb. 2 packs of butter as my old ww leader used to say.

So in the right direction. In 3 months or so I'll be a stone lighter and back in my happy zone

I have been running every day this week and generally found the cals fine. Am having a treat night tonight- home made pizza and ice cream and a cider but even that is well under 2000k so hopefully not too much of a stall and my weekly calories even out to my weight loss tdee

wombatsandaplant · 08/05/2020 18:49

Well done fairy

I just converted my kilos lost so far to stone and I’ve lost a stone. Woop.

Woo well done, @wombatsandaplant!! That’s a great achievement. I posted on this thread a few weeks ago wishing to lose weight but not quite being up for changing habits yet. Last 2 days no snacks and exercised in both, so feel ready to start. Kids have been sleeping better so when I’m not so tired I’m less likely to reach for the junk to keep me going. Just feeling more and more unhappy with myself and need to do something.

Pickles89 · 08/05/2020 22:57

Today:

Lunch: tropical fruit porridge - 300
Dinner - egg cress mayo - 300
Head of lettuce and half a bag of spinach - negligible
Flatbread - 100
Strawberries - 50
Slice of cake - 150

Only 900! I've had a walk, a skip and a workout too. Hopefully that balances out the pizza!

lovinglavidaloca · 08/05/2020 23:01

Sounds like a successful day Pickles!

Pickles89 · 08/05/2020 23:03

@Merename

Yay, well done! It's getting motivated that's the hard thing. We all know how to eat right and exercise more, you just have to be in that headspace!

Pickles89 · 08/05/2020 23:07

@lovinglavidaloca

Yep, it's been good, as long as I don't sneak a midnight snack! I feel on the right track again today. I went shopping and properly stocked up on all the healthy stuff - I felt very smug at the checkout! Grin

wombatsandaplant · 09/05/2020 12:47

Ive just put up my trampoline, it’s 12ft and takes adults, I don’t have kids lol. I’m excited. Hopefully help me lose some extra weight and tone up my legs.

OP posts:
Pickles89 · 09/05/2020 22:42

Today:

Lunch: Wrap - 200
Cheese - 100
Pea and spinach dip - 50
Celery, cucumber and spinach - negligible
Strawberries - 50

Dinner: Spicy ratatouille - 250
2 veggie sausages - 150
Banana - 100
Yoghurt - 50
Cake - 150

Total: 1100

Admittedly I'll probably have another slice of cake in a minute, but should be ok with my calorie target of 1250. Weigh day for me tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Pickles89 · 10/05/2020 08:24

Weigh Day, Sunday 10th May: 12.11

Phew, dropped the 2 pounds I was hoping to this week! I thought that pizza would ruin everything. I've decided I'll treat myself to another when I've reached 12.4. Hopefully that'll keep me motivated, light at the end of the tunnel sort of thing! My target for next Sunday is 12.9.

How are all you Lockdown Losers doing? Most of you weigh Mondays don't you? Good luck!

Pickles89 · 10/05/2020 08:26

@wombatsandaplant

How's the trampoline then? Grin I'm still not speaking to my mum as she refused to give in to my pestering and buy me one 17 years ago. Angry Can you do any tricks? I've never been able to do even the sit down/stand up thing.

wombatsandaplant · 10/05/2020 09:45

pickles no I cannot do any tricks, just bouncing up and down is my limit. My dad would never let me have one so I bought my own lol

myfuckingfreezer · 10/05/2020 12:14

I've had to weigh in a day early as Im without scales tomorrow.

Have yet another 1pound loss week though I'll take that considering I basically spent VE Day with scones or cakes in my mouth at all times!

1/1/20 - 225 pounds
10/5/30 - 183 pounds

In that time I've lost 6inches from my waist, 5 from my hips, 2 dress sizes and a lot of bra sizes! I reckon another 7pounds and I'll be a 14, down from a size 20 at the start of the year!

lovinglavidaloca · 10/05/2020 14:25

Amazing @myfuckingfreezer! What an inspiration you are with that loss!

duckduckgosling · 10/05/2020 14:40

Well done @Pickles89!

Wow @myfuckingfreezer - that's amazing 👏

Pickles89 · 10/05/2020 15:19

You're doing amazing freezer! I haven't had any inch loss at all (not off my waist anyway!). It's sticking stubbornly at 42 inches, and I still can't do my jeans up without breathing in and pulling faces. If you can do it so can I though! It's been years since I was a 14. Love to be back there again.

buckeejit · 10/05/2020 15:31

Everyone doing great! I've done my 10k steps everyday this week & been fairly retrained with the wine. Last Sunday was my downfall so aiming for no repeat of that!

Will weigh in tomorrow morn officially but feeling good to stick with it. Starting doin a few repetitions with my 5kg weights I bought a few weeks before lockdown too Smile
