lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Well done @Pickles89 I don't think they'd make wetsuits big enough to fit me Confused

I've organised my low cal treats into their own area away from most of the normal nice things to try to avoid some temptation. Still 5k steps to go today & cant be bothered!

Pickles89 · 01/05/2020 22:46

@lovinglavidaloca Actually, more like I'm 8 months pregnant! Grin

Pickles89 · 01/05/2020 22:50

Dinner: A truly disgusting omelette with red onion, mushrooms and peas - 350
Strawberries - 50
Yoghurt - 100
Last of the individual Easter cakes - 150

1250

Awesome, right on the money again!

fairyfingers · 02/05/2020 08:22

Well done everyone.

I have having scales fear. I have been there or thereabouts cals wise every day for over a week. I have run a few times. Could have done more exercise but have still done some.

I should, by rights have lost a bit. I feel like I maybe have. But if I weigh in and I haven't I will get really upset again.

I may just not bother and carry on as I am BUT weighing keeps me focused. Dilemma!

rivierliedje · 02/05/2020 11:23

I seem to be going in loops, up and down by a 3 pounds every 7-10 days. It's quite disheartening.

WaterIsWide · 02/05/2020 12:22

I weighed myself this morning. A month to the day of weighing myself on 2nd April. What have I lost ? 300g. Yep, that's it.

I've been doing MFP (My Fitness Pal) for 11 days straight. Staying within the calorie allowance. Doing shed loads of exercise to burn calories, which at my hefty weight is going to be quite a few. What's my, 'reward' ? Next to no weight lost.

Meh. How many calories does being grumpy burn ?

Anyway, I'd better carry on. Winners never quit, quitters never win and all that.

Yes, it's a slow process but stopping isn't going to speed it up.

fairyfingers · 02/05/2020 13:12

God it's just depressing isn't it.

I feel fine on the food tbh. I have between 1200 - 1250 per day and that's usually ok.

My tdee for weight loss should be around 1350 but I've never lost on that much. I am 45. Peri seems to be starting. Thyroid a bit dodgy but not enough to treat. It's gonna be a struggle.

I often wonder about just trying to stay the same but from a health POV I really do need to shift a stone.

DH can helpfully lose half a stone by easing up on the beer and having one bag of crisps not two

KBO is it innit

Pickles89 · 02/05/2020 14:28

Today:

Breakfast: 1/4 glass orange and mango juice - 50
Lunch: small avocado -250
Head of lettuce - negligible
Flatbread - 100
Grapes - 50
Brownie bites - 150

600 already! And I'm still hungry. Worse still I can't burn it off in the sea today as I've got an earache. I've had a short dog walk and I'll do skipping, maybe a zumba sess this evening.

To those of you who aren't seeing progress on the scales, I'm really sorry. It makes you feel like giving up doesn't it? Please don't though! Tell yourself you're doing what you're doing for general health, rather than to lose weight, and it'll still be worth doing! I'm quite scared of diabetes which I reckon I'm at quite high risk of developing, so even if I don't lose a single lb I feel safer knowing I've cut back on sugar.

My weigh day is tomorrow. I think I've probably lost the 2lbs I was aiming for, because I don't need to wear a bra any more! I just tried my jeans on and I still have to breathe in to get them fastened though. I measured my waist the other day and it's 42 inches! It was 39 last time I measured. How quickly are inches generally lost, does anyone know? I'm trying to avoid salt and have upped my water to avoid bloating.

LaneBoy · 02/05/2020 20:18

Doing slightly better with food this week I think, and keeping busier which is definitely helping me not to snack so much

Exercise is going well too, I have done the workout I designed five times this week

Pickles89 · 02/05/2020 23:13

Snack: Twiglets - 100

Dinner: celery sticks - negligible
Vegetable chilli - 150
Rice - 150
Cauliflower rice - 50 (My dog is such a weirdo, she was sniffing the air appreciatively at the cauliflower - who likes cauliflower?! Envy

lovinglavidaloca · 02/05/2020 23:29

How disappointing Water! A total kick in the teeth to have a smaller loss than you expect. Keep at it though.

I’m rubbish at the measuring. I did measure at the start of this and noted it down but when I’ve done it in the past I’ve never been convinced I’ve measured the same exact bit both time’s so it’s felt pointless!

Pickles89 · 03/05/2020 10:13

Weigh Day, Sunday 3rd May: 12.13

So I've lost 3lbs, 1 more than I was hoping for - yay! Still can't breathe in the jeans though... Hope to be able to by next Sunday. I'm aiming to be down to 12.11 by then.

lovinglavidaloca · 03/05/2020 10:41

Brilliant Pickles!

buckeejit · 03/05/2020 11:32

Great @Pickles89 well done!

I am quite proud of myself for the week but I did have a big bag of cheese puffs last night with the wine. Big bags I love but I just eat them all. Generally though apart from 1 day I've done my 10k steps & only had 1 G&T & 1 bottle of wine. This is a big change so trying not to get disheartened. What's the alternative, just eat more junk again.

@WaterIsWide I am disappointed at my lack of loss & haven't done measurements yet. Weirdly though my jeans are still tight but my tramp coat as dh calls it seems now to button ok - it's pop buttons which always popped undone but mostly stayed closed on a walk yesterday. I'm considering putting the scales away & only getting them out once a week, or maybe once a month. I'm also thinking I should go back to slimming world style as my calories have been technically ok but think I could up the fruit.

I have zero willpower so think another week will make me feel more settled & hopefully shift a few lb by then

wombatsandaplant · 03/05/2020 13:13

Well done pickles

Thanks for your encouragement everyone. Good luck for the continuing battle - we'll get there !

fairyfingers · 03/05/2020 13:43

So I braved a proper weigh in today and lost a lb. Cheerleading DH was v proud bless him.

I had a pizza last night (not takeaway, frozen but still a calorie bomb). Didn't really enjoy it tbh, was just stodgy.

Today I've got salmon and veg for lunch, a mushroom toastie thing for dinner and room for some ice cream and a square of posh choc all for well under my budget plus have done a run and a bike ride with Dd2. So feeling quite positive.

Water, it's the only attitude to have really isn't it. Even if weight takes ages to shift we're still doing masses which is positive for our health.

lovinglavidaloca · 03/05/2020 14:54

Had a seeded roll from Tesco with ham, lettuce and 2g of light mayo for lunch.

Just been a 10 mile cycle with the kids and OH. Burned 430 calories!

Having cottage pie for tea but should still be well under calories even if it’s over 500. Will have a little bit of my huge Lindor Easter egg tonight that I’ve been saving for a special occasion. Not even opened it yet!

Well done everyone. Hope you’re all having a lovely sunny Sunday.

Pickles89 · 03/05/2020 16:38

Thanks everyone. I hope I can keep it up - I am annoyingly hungry at the moment!

Today:

Breakfast: 1/4 glass green smoothie - 50
Lunch: Wrap with houmous and spinach - 300
Lettuce - negligible
Strawberries - 50
Brownie bites - 150

Had a long hilly walk, will skip in a bit.

HungryHazelEyes · 03/05/2020 19:32

pickles my dog LOVES cauliflower, it's her favourite vegetable. She's always at my feet while I'm cutting it up, hoping I drop some.

I haven't been doing the best at eating well, my weight is about the same. I did bake some yummy keto desserts yesterday. I made a lemon and blueberry bread that I tried this morning, and a blueberry crumble that I have yet to try. Then of course told DH to order some Dominos as it sounded good Blush

Pickles89 · 03/05/2020 22:57

Snack: Air-popped corn - 100
Dinner: Sweet potato - 200
Broccoli - 100
Butter - 100
Red grapes - 50
Yoghurt - 100
Brownie bites - 150

Total: 1450!! Ooops, that's way over my limit. I'm a bit disappointed in myself. It's not like I was binging though, I was genuinely really hungry.

HungryHazelEyes · 04/05/2020 00:24

Don't beat yourself up over it pickles it's good to listen to your body and eat when you're hungry. It happens to the best of us. I try to remember to drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes before eating sometimes, as it might just be thirst. Sometimes that's what it is, other times I'm bored, so I try to make myself busy, or I'm actually hungry, so then I'll eat. A higher calorie day might trick your body into letting go some pounds as well, so not always a bad thing 🙂
