lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Dinner:

Homemade soup with carrots, celery, onion and tinned tomatoes - 200
Cheese - 300
Mini cake bar x 2 - 250

Total: 1350

That's ok. I did my 3 lots of exercise today. A stroll around my fields this am, then a proper walk on the beach in the afternoon, then Joe Wicks this evening.

lovinglavidaloca · 29/04/2020 12:57

How are we getting on today?

foodandwine89 · 29/04/2020 15:51

Has anyone done the Joe Wicks 90 day plan? My weight loss is stalling and looking for sth new. I like working out and don't think i can cut my calories below 1600 without being utterly miserable amd starving all the time...although I'm sure that's no different to anyone else.

Pickles89 · 29/04/2020 17:11

Breakfast: Half a glass of orange and mango juice - 50
Lunch: A big bowl of porridge made with banana and coconut smoothie, with a slice banana on top - 400

I guess it's not too surprising that I'm not losing, what with all the fruit I'm eating! I'm going to try and stock up on more veggies and filling protein when I go shopping.

myfuckingfreezer · 29/04/2020 17:29

@foodandwine89

I did it a couple of years ago with friends and we all had fantastic results. You have to be willing to do the exercise and be confident enough in the kitchen to know when to ignore him eg when he said 76g of avocado - just bung a half in!

lovinglavidaloca · 29/04/2020 18:13

B - cereal bar
L - homemade vegetable soup
D - macaroni cheese and half of a garlic baguette (584 just for dinner!!!)
S - pack of flame grilled steak McCoys only because my child didn’t like them so I didn’t want to waste them (honest) and have just this minute had two boiled eggs as I don’t know when OH will be home to have dinner.

Finishing on 1071 unless I have another snack later but if having a late dinner I probably won’t need it. My limit is 1300 and I definitely feel like it’s plenty at the moment.

Maria53 · 29/04/2020 18:28

Just did my first weight in and I am 2.2lbs lighter that last week. Does that really mean anything at this stage? Or will I need to see what happens after a few weeks to make sure it isnt just a fluctuation?

On that note I've been so good for a few weeks now but I've just had a glass of wine and have ordered a chicken jalfrezi (tomato based is better for cals) and boiled rice. I know it's naughty but oh well.

Breakfast - x2 weetabix and coffee with no sugar
Lunch - a couple of pieces of roast chicken with olives, a few cubes of smoked german cheese, few tomatoes & some avocado
Dinner - takeaway jalfrezi and boiled rice
Snacks - just a glass of wine today after work!

I managed 20 mins belly dancing and 40 mins walking yesterday. Today I've done nothing. I'm not sleeping well and am working late.

buckeejit · 29/04/2020 18:50

Good job @Maria53 yes it means something!

When doing SW I had weekly weigh in & lots of people would then use that as 'treat night' & managed to pull it back to have a loss next week. I'm concerned about the weekend. I've spent more of my life celebrating the weekend with overindulgence than not! And the weekend always starts on a Thursday!

Maria53 · 29/04/2020 19:10

Thanks @buckeejit. I was left feeling pleasantly surprised and hopeful!

I am still letting myself have a treat on the weekend. When I think about when I was happy with my weight, I did usually have a weekend treat. I put on weight because I started overdoing it during the week.

I've also stopped taking the pill which means I will have proper periods again for a while. I read you can gain pounds again during that time.

foodandwine89 · 29/04/2020 19:48

@myfuckingfreezer that's encouraging, thank you! I'm not put off by the exercise but the food seems like a lot, I'm worried of pilling on more pounds!

Pickles89 · 29/04/2020 22:59

Dinner: Cottage cheese with sweetcorn and red pepper - 250
Green salad - negligible
Flat bread - 100
Houmous - 100
Easter cakes x 2 - 300

Total for today: 1200

Well within my limit, and I had a decent dog walk, a skip, and a Joe Wicks workout. I'm very happy with that!

buckeejit · 30/04/2020 00:09

I had pizza but think I still came in under budget.

No weight off yet but 3 days alcohol & crisp free & 3 days of making my 10k steps! Winning!

For those of you that are over 40 & been doing this a while, what was your loss in your first week? I was hoping for at least 4lb for my efforts but not looking like I'll achieve that so just curious.

Day by day is all we can do & find plenty to watch on the tv. Had to stop dh allowing another episode of normal people coming on tonight! And I'm still not sleeping, aargh! Hope everyone has come through the day fairly unscathed. Goodnight!

lovinglavidaloca · 30/04/2020 12:17

Today’s food plan:

B - Cadbury raisin brunch bar
L - homemade vegetable soup
D - takeaway pizza

Am having to use the preset calories in Nutracheck for my pizza because I have no idea what it’ll be but going by that if I stick to just having my cereal bar and soup otherwise ... I’ll be in at just over 1400 calories. Have been under every day this week so can afford the 100 extra Grin

WaterIsWide · 30/04/2020 22:30

Shredded wheat with banana and raisins added. Semi skimmed milk.

Baked Potato with cottage cheese and ham. Diet coke.

Turkey steak baked in stuffing with potatoes, veg and instant gravy.

Snack: Ripple plus lindt orange chocolate bar.

Pickles89 · 30/04/2020 22:49

Today:

Breakfast: 1/4 glass green smoothie - 50
Lunch: 2 x raspberry oat bars - 200
Dinner: Sweet potato - 250
Broccoli - 50
Butter - 200
Vege burger - 250
Grapes - 100
Easter cake - 150

Total: 1250

Bang on target. I didn't do as much exercise today as I would have liked though. Just a wander round the fields, and Joe Wicks. I dipped my toes in the sea and it was freaking freezing!! I'm going to have to order a bigger size wetsuit. Expensive, and depressing.

buckeejit · 01/05/2020 00:35

@Pickles89 how many Easter cakes have you left?! Wink. Good work though. Can you get a wetsuit off eBay to tide you over?

I've gone maybe 200 cals over today as I had about 12 nachos which I made for everyone else as the dip was 2 days out of date but could not resist. I could happily have eaten the whole tray.

No exercise as I was a bit down today & weather was miserable. Going to get out & my walk done earlyish tomorrow so I'm on the road to achievement by lunch. Need to get up early on Sat so will aim for 1 glass or 2 small ones tomorrow eve. Must get my smaller tasting glasses out as that will help.

wombatsandaplant · 01/05/2020 13:09

I am doing brilliantly. I weighed myself early and I’ve lost 1.6kg this week so far, fingers crossed I can continue that to Monday.

LaneBoy · 01/05/2020 13:55

That’s brilliant!

wombatsandaplant · 01/05/2020 14:53

Thanks guys, I’m super happy and so encouraged. Since March 30th I’ve lost 4.9 kg.

Super job @wombatsandaplant Well done!

wombatsandaplant · 01/05/2020 15:40

Thanks.

Also over a month of no crisps woo.

I’ve never done this well on losing weight before, usually I last two weeks at the most. I feel, no I know, I can do it this time. Go me.

Pickles89 · 01/05/2020 17:14

That's amazing wombats!

Pickles89 · 01/05/2020 17:25

@buckeejit Only one individual one left! Grin I do have a big 'sharing' one though which I'm scared to start. I have just discovered a tub of brownie bites in the treat cupboard as well. They timed out a week ago, so I'd better get cracking on them!

As for the wetsuit, with much exertion I managed to squeeze myself into my (2 sizes too small!) 3mm, and then pull my (right size) shorty 3mm suit on over the top, which is probably the equivalent of one appropriate for the season! I couldn't really breathe, or turn my head, or move my limbs, but heck, who really needs to do any of those things when out in the ocean? Still, if I can slim into this weird combination it'll save me a couple of hundred quid! All I need is some decent neoprene boots as my current little slip on things aren't a lot of use in frigid waters.

Sooo, today:

Breakfast: 1/4 glass orange and mango juice - 50
Lunch: Wrap with houmous - 300
Half a bag of spinach - negligible
Banana - 100
Somewhat stale brownie bites - 150

Rather higher than I'd like, but I was really hungry! I've spent an hour or so in the sea, and will have a skipping session in a bit.

lovinglavidaloca · 01/05/2020 18:49

@Pickles89 I bet the tight wetsuit(s!) had a slimming effect Grin

I’m currently making dinner. Have just done my workout and am absolutely pooped!
