I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

So far today I've had:

Breakfast: half a glass of green smoothie - 50
Lunch: porridge made with banana and coconut smoothie instead of milk - sounds horrible but it's really nice! - 400

I've had a dog walk but nothing else as yet because I've been gardening solidly. Only yesterday I vowed to up my exercise levels but I'm already exhausted for the day! I'll try and do a workout later but not sure I'll have the energy for much.

buckeejit · 27/04/2020 21:04

Signing up please.

I'm really overweight & have been for a few years & up & down before that. 18 stone now & day 2 of healthier today. Yesterday was Good until I had a 3rd glass of wine & big bag of cheesy puffs Blush

Today so far so good & no wine. It's my biggest love & biggest downfall. Took a sore throat a couple of days ago & majorly panicked. It's going now but really want to shift a couple of stone ASAP.

Exercise is hard & I hate it. Would love some not awful YouTube vids to work along to if anyone had any recs.

Looking forward to having somewhere to report to

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 21:20

Thanks Pickles! Hi @buckeejit good luck :)

Not a great day for me today.

L - homemade sweet potato and carrot soup
D - a plain toasted bagel
S - Nature’s valley oaty, hazelnutty biscuity thing

Not a minute of exercise and only 2510 steps!

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 21:20

541 calories for me today

Duckduckgosling · 27/04/2020 22:20

Breakfast - 2 x scrambled egg and 1 x small toast
Lunch - homemade tomato and red pepper soup with 3 x Rivita
Dinner - loads of veg and Diet Coke chicken

It's my first day in 4 weeks of feeling really hungry today so I had half a grapefruit and a handful of walnuts as snacks too.

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 22:33

@Duckduckgosling do you roast your peppers first for your soup? That always puts me off making a tomato and red pepper because it feels like a faff!

Pickles89 · 27/04/2020 22:43

Dinner: Egg and cress mayo on flatbread - 350
Green pepper with houmous - 200
2 x Easter cakes - 300

Total for the day: 1300

I did Joe Wicks, but no skipping today.

Duckduckgosling · 28/04/2020 09:56

@lovinglavidaloca yes I do - I roast the peppers, tomatoes, chillis and garlic.
I Just leave it cooking in the background while I'm doing other things Smile

lovinglavidaloca · 28/04/2020 10:10

Thanks Duck. I might give it another go.

I’ve just done my workout for the day. Feels great to have done it in the morning rather thinking all day that I’ve still got to do it!

buckeejit · 28/04/2020 13:10

You all seem to eat so little! I'm hungry at the thought of how little food should be ahead of me! Think I'll try to be sensible while half following slimming world & logging everything in mfp.

Today I've had homemade greek yogurt with teaspoon of honey & berries & spoonful granola.

Lunch am making tabbouleh with few apricots & then veg soup for tea with a couple of fibre one bars with cups of tea for snacks.

I've recently purchased a dehydrator & am loving dehydrated kale with a tiny bit of oil, salt & sugar. You could do it in the actifry if you have one. We have a lot of plants in the garden that are getting past their best so using it up.

Need to make some more soup so any recipes appreciated. I usually have either veg, celeriac, curried butternut squash or carrot, red pepper & chilli

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 13:36

@buckeejit

Welcome. Don't beat yourself up.

I do a seated exercise presented by Jackie Tally. Look it up on YouTube see if it's something you might be interested in. Also, HasFit is not too intense and the coach usually has someone standing next to him demonstrating the low impact version. Have a look at one of the beginner workouts to see what you think.

My vegetable Soup recipe:

Four carrots, peeled and chopped
Two sticks of celery, chopped
One onion, chopped
One leek, cleaned and chopped

Put carrots and celery in a pan to cook for five minutes on a low heat so they, 'sweat.' I don't use butter or oil in my cooking.
Add onion and leek, allow to cook for another five minutes.
Add 2 tablespoons of tomato puree and stir in
Add 4 tablespoons of flour and stir in (or add four ounces of lentils or split peas instead if you would like to.)
Add one pint of vegetable stock and stir in
Add two pints of water and stir in.
Leave to simmer for an hour.

Blend it if you like it smooth, leave it as it is if you like it chunky. Adjust the amounts to suit your own taste.

I have no idea how many calories are in this soup but I don't think it's many.

Pickles89 · 28/04/2020 14:08

I was going to have a moan about my jeans being just as tight as ever, but actually my boobs are shrinking rapidly so I guess I am losing weight! Why is it always that way? I just go from being an A cup to being completely flat chested, and my big round tummy stays big and round. The world is very unfair!

buckeejit · 28/04/2020 14:32

Thanks waters, that's great, will give your soup a go.

I've made a big batch of couscous as I always do & taken ages now to work out the calories per generous serving. Pleased that this large lunch is only 190 calories. Or does that sound as though I've done the maths wrong?!

lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?
Pickles89 · 28/04/2020 14:48

I've had a big lunch with far too many calories:

2 x falafel - 100
Houmous - 150
Spring onion and lettuce - negligible
Yoghurt - 100
Banana - 100
Easter cake - 150

Looks like dust for dinner tonight, with a side helping of fresh air!

Qgardens · 28/04/2020 15:35

Hi guys,
A bit late to the party but hope you don't mind if I join now. You all seem to be doing so well. And many of you eating so much compared to me Envy

I've been on a diet since lock down started and have lost probably 3/4 of a stone. I'm not totally sure because I didn't weigh myself to begin with. I have mild undiagnosed sleep apnea that tends to kick in about 12 st. The threat of not breathing properly at night and potentially having the virus is scary and a great motivator. Also the lack of temptation that is in normal life, is great. I found I'd lose a bit in the past then having a weekend away or a few nice events with food, would completely ruin the diet and take me out of "THE ZONE".

I'm now 12 st 10 lbs first thing in the morning, after a wee and with not many clothes on...

I've lost a couple of stones on WW in the past and did join again about a year ago but found that since they've changed it to be more like Slimming world, it just didn't do it for me. The old way I could still eat my downfall bread and count it in my points, but after changing it to less points but unlimited veg and chicken fish etc, I found I struggled as I'm not a big meat/fish eater.
So the point of that waffle is I'm trying to stick to the old WW regime but guessing rather than counting properly. Also maybe under eating during the week, and then eating more normally at the weekends. That has also worked in the past for me.

I'm doing a You Tube 7 minute belly buster routine every day with a few extra bits thrown in too. Need to walk more though. Not venturing out enough.

It's hard

WaterIsWide · 28/04/2020 15:54

Buckeejit

Lunch looks lovely. The calorie value for that would seem about right. Couscous and salad. Did you add any protein ?

Don't be scared of calories. They are only a number.

lovinglavidaloca · 28/04/2020 16:04

Hi Gardens! Welcome.

I am absolutely ravenous today:

B - two boiled eggs
L - homemade sweet potato and carrot soup
S - a packet of McCoy’s flame grilled steak crisps and two Borders dark chocolate ginger biscuits

Dinner will be stir fry but I honestly don’t know how I’ll manage till about 7pm when my partner comes home.

Duckduckgosling · 28/04/2020 16:35

@buckeejit the tomato & roasted red pepper one is delish.

3 red peppers cut into large pieces
6 tomatoes cut in quarters
2 chillis left whole
1 whole garlic, separated into cloves but left in the skins.
Roast in the oven.

In a pan, melt some butter & add a chopped onion and simmer.

Once the veg is roasted, add this to the onion pan (squeeze the garlics from their skin)

Add veg stock and blend.

Maria53 · 28/04/2020 20:32

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs & coffee no sugar
Lunch - carrot&butterbean soup plus a couple of falafel balls
Dinner - cajun chicken with wholegrain rice and peas.
Snack - mixed berries, square of dark chocolate (actually I was going to have 2 squares until MFP chastised me for going over the fat allowance for today- decosed against it!)

Maria53 · 28/04/2020 20:33

Sounds great @Duckduckgosling think I will try that one!

lovinglavidaloca · 28/04/2020 20:44

I’m finishing the day on 1120 :)

fairyfingers · 28/04/2020 21:24

Made a decision to go easy today so went over by about 100 cals. Also did no exercise- was meant to be a rest day anyway but work was mega full on and I slept badly so sort of crashed.

Having my snickers ice cream was actually a positive - a ringfenced splurge after a bad day where I felt hungry all the time (doubtless due to poor sleep) rather than a 'fuckit bring on all the pizza' binge is a step forward.

I did have another sneaky daily weigh in where my weight increased and I got blue so DH has banned the scales except on Fridays. He's v strict!

wombatsandaplant · 28/04/2020 21:34

I have no willpower. I made 6 chocolate crispy cakes earlier for pudding for the next two days and I just ate them all. Oops. I will not be making anymore crispy cakes at all. Nope I shall not, I just can’t help myself. And now I’m sad, I need to go for a long walk tomorrow.

OP posts:
buckeejit · 28/04/2020 22:05

@wombatsandaplant that's so annoying. I'm deliberately not allowing dc to make delicious things like soup dragon's flapjacks or anything else that I would devour.

Thanks for the soup recipe, I'm going to try both of those over the next couple of weeks. Dh is making pizza tomorrow & he does a fab pizza so will indulge

Today I've had yogurt, berries, honey & a little granola

Couscous & salad, (no protein today but will with next couscous meal)

Curried butternut squash Soup

Fibre one bar & skinny whip, then a hifi bar & a tunnocks tea cake

Takes me to 1200 calories. Do you all try to stick to the calories dictated by MFP?

I'm thinking maybe I could mix it up a bit with the 5:2 - not sure if I could manage just 500 cals though?

Maria53 · 28/04/2020 23:21

I rarely make it up to the 1400 cals recommended by MFP. I made it to 1284 cals today.

I really couldn't eat more than this, I've had enough and met the goals to stay under the sugar and fat grams for the day. I couldn't do the 5:2 without being totally miserable. That's just me ans my body though.
