lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

I've copy and pasted this from MFP

Daily Nutrition Goals

Calories 2200
Carbohydrates 275g 50%
Fat 73g 30%
Protein 110g 20%

On 2nd April I weighed one pound short of twenty stone. I'm 5'3.5'' tall.

wombatsandaplant · 25/04/2020 21:33

I had apple pie and custard today but I only had oat cakes and cheese and a tuna melt panini too. So hopefully should be okay.

I also wish exercising and dieting had instant results!

Today I ate -

Slim shake, coffee
2 slices of veg pizza and salad
A chipolata and a spoonful of baked beans for dinner - wasn't hungry
Snacks were a handful of marshmallows and some crisps

twinkledag · 25/04/2020 22:36

Also. 45 minute workout.

Pickles89 · 25/04/2020 22:56

Today:

Breakfast: Half a glass of tropical juice - 50
Lunch: Twiglets - 100
Snack: 2 Easter cakes - 300 (oh dear!)
Dinner: Cottage cheese with sweetcorn and red pepper - 250
Green salad - negligible
Half a glass of green smoothie - 100
2 more Easter cakes (oh dear again!) - 300

Total: 1100

I know I'm eating too many chocolate cakes, but they're already going stale and I'm the only one who eats them! Looking forward to when they're done and I can detox a bit. At least I'm within my calorie allowance.

Exercise wise, only 2 forms instead of 3 today, Joe Wicks and a walk. To be fair though it was a pretty heavy duty walk with steep hills, so I'm happy with that. I'm also proud of myself for not adding salt to the cottage cheese (which as you all know means it tasted disgusting!) because with all the twiglets and cake my salt intake is pretty high at the mo. So yeah, I'm happy, even if my stupid jeans still don't bloody fit.

lovinglavidaloca · 25/04/2020 23:26

B - two boiled eggs
L - two brown sandwich thins with ham
D - chilli beef ragu
S - two large caramel snackajacks, a mini Twister ice lolly, two Borders dark chocolate ginger biscuits and a packet of cheese and onion crisps.

Calories supposedly 1251 but may have been slightly higher as was hard to ensure the amount of the rage I had.

No real exercise today, just 30 mins or so of walking. Will hopefully go a cycle tomorrow.

fairyfingers · 26/04/2020 09:15

I get so envious of you lot who can lose on1500 per day. That's my steady weight intake!

The pain of being short, peri and dodgy of thyroid!

I had a revelation on Friday. I wanted a sandwich and a pack of quavers for lunch after a week of salad. Bread is lovely seeded stuff but quite calorific. I couldn't have both and stay in my cals so I made my sarnie with ONE SLICE OF BREAD. Yes this revolutionary idea that maybe I didn't have to have two slices of bread to feel full and satisfied was new to me.

Portion size is such an issue for me and I'm so crap at eating slowly and recognising when I'm full that this made me oddly proud of myself.

WaterIsWide · 26/04/2020 13:32

@fairfingers

Go you !

If that's an open sandwich that you are describing then you did really well. (Did that sound patronising ?)

WaterIsWide · 26/04/2020 13:42

Today's menu

B - one slice of wholegrain bread with Philadelphia light cream cheese and Marmite. One slice of wholegrain bread with Philadelphia light cream cheese low sugar raspberry jam on one side, low sugar marmalade on the rest. Two cups of tea.

L - remainder of last nights chicken curry and rice with the onion salad and a larger mixed salad with more chicken mixed in. Minty yoghurt dressing. Two rashers of bacon. One chipolata sausage. One inch width portion of French Bread with low fat margarine. Diet coke.

D - Roast beef, dry roast potatoes and parsnips, one small Yorkshire pudding, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, gravy, horseradish and mustard.

One and a half glasses of wine. Possibly Bacardi and diet coke whilst preparing the dinner.

Remainder of last night's crumble with custard.

Today's exercise was a thirty minute walk in the park.

lovinglavidaloca · 26/04/2020 15:02

B - N/A
L - one wrap with chicken mayo (light mayo), little gem lettuce and red pepper
D - sausage and veg traybake
S - a double chocolate cookie (was worth every calorie) and will be having an ice cream sundae later too Blush

Have done a bike ride with the kids today burning 354 calories so that’s something towards the sundae.

Weigh Day, Sunday 26th April: 13.2

I'm not surprised, but I do feel a bit gloomy because I've never been more than 11something before, even at my heaviest. According to the BMI calculator I'm officially 'obese' too, which is making me sad. I'm also aware that when I reach my weight goal of 10 stone (It's going to take some work!) I'll have a tonne of loose skin. Sad

Still, I do feel motivated at the moment, which is 4/5ths of the battle!

Action plan: Aim for 1250 cals a day, though I won't beat myself up until 1400. A walk, a workout and something small but helpful (like skipping rope, or dancing) every day. My first goal is to be down to 13 stone by Sunday 3rd. I hope by then to be able to breathe wearing my usual size 16 jeans.

Anyone else had a weigh in today? How's it looking?

lovinglavidaloca · 26/04/2020 15:09

@Pickles89 was that a gain for you this week?

No sure if it helps but I’ve been up at 13 before and got back under 10 with no lose skin so it doesn’t always happen. Wish I was 10 now Sad

Pickles89 · 26/04/2020 15:34

@lovinglavidaloca

No, I hadn't been brave enough to weigh myself until now, as I knew by my clothes not fitting that I'd gained more than ever before. I'm a terrible yo-yo dieter and have always had a pattern of 2 decent diets a year, one before Christmas and one in the summer, so although my overall weight was creeping up slowly it wasn't out of control. Unfortunately due to personal emotional stuff last year I didn't have a summer or pre-Christmas diet and now I'm living with the consequences!

It's good to hear that your skin recovered before. Unfortunately mine will take any excuse to play up, I have really really dodgy skin. I guess better to be healthy and saggy than the other thing though!

NothingIsWrong · 26/04/2020 17:19

Been awol for a few days in a massive panic spiral, which I've just about dragged myself out of. I have lost 1lb in the last week, which given the panic spiral I'm bloody amazed with. I tend to eat when stressed...

Pickles89 · 26/04/2020 18:22

So far today:

Breakfast: Half a glass of tropical juice - 50
A portion of dry cereal - 150

Lunch: 2 celery sticks with houmous - 100
2 falafel - 100

Had a dog walk, will have a skip in an hour or so, and will do a workout this evening. Can anyone recommend a good one on Youtube? Not Joe Wicks, I fancy a change. About 30 mins worth? Something fun and not too challenging, I am very unfit and want to ease into things instead of doing too much and putting myself off doing it again.

Pickles89 · 26/04/2020 22:44

Well I had my skip, and then went and spoilt it with another Easter cake - 150

Dinner tonight was ravioli with peas and a head of lettuce - 450
Yoghurt - 100
Another cake - 150

So bang on 1250 for the day. And I did a zumba workout, so if I'm even able to get out of bed tomorrow I'll be impressed!

Maria53 · 27/04/2020 00:21

Breakfast - veggie sausages & scrambled eggs, few vine tomatoes
Lunch - pesto chicken salad
Dinner - pizza & chips with vege (a bit naughty but all still within the intake)
Snack - 1 orange, peanut cereal bar

I also did 30 mins vinyasa yoga and 30 mins dancing which was fun (tried to tag you Pickles but cant. This is the link -

HotCrossBungle · 27/04/2020 08:14

@pickles89 just wanted to say that it's highly unlikely you'll have loose skin. A few years ago I went from about 13 st to 10st 10 and didn't have any. That wasn't my heaviest either, a few years prior to that I'd been up to 14st 5 (another yo-yoer).

Terrible weekend, a bit of a mini spiral - lots of booze, biscuits, heavy carbs etc. Weigh in this morning from, 3lbs on putting me back up to 13st 13 😒. I'm not surprised though hoping majority of the gain is water weight. Feel totally shit. Why do I do this to myself for the short term gain? Had a great (long) weekend but was it worth it? I'm not so sure. Perhaps a cooler week weather wise will help.

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 09:10

2lbs off for me this morning. Thank goodness because I would have been really struggling to keep at it if I’d stayed the same. So total loss since 06/04/20 is 5lbs. I know it could be more but I’m pretty happy with that!

Stupid question but when I’m multiplying stones into lbs to add to my Garmin app do I do 11.2 x 14 or 11.02 x 14? Blush

Duckduckgosling · 27/04/2020 09:59

Week 4 weigh in and it's minus 4lbs so one stone total!! Yay!

So happy to have reached the stone mark, only another 5 to go 🙄

I wonder when I / anyone will start to
Notice a difference. My clothes don't feel loser just yet.

Well do to everyone else weighing in and on the losses 💪🏻

wombatsandaplant · 27/04/2020 11:37

I’ve put on again, god damnit. I put on 0.5kg so not too bad but I’d still rather lose. I know why, I ate too many chocolate crispy cakes. Onwards and downwards.

OP posts:
myfuckingfreezer · 27/04/2020 11:41

2 pounds down for me on last week. Pleased with that considering I had two ice creams over the weekend and at leas two days last week where I only did about 1000 steps Blush

For those asking about loose skin, slow and steady helps. I have lost almost 3 stone since Christmas and suspect I will have some on the bottom of my stomach where I had overhand and defiantly getting it on my boobs Sad But I have gone from 16 stone to almost 13 so bigger than most of you.

My boobs are a mess though. I'm only 29 and no kids but they are basically socks with the fat that has been lost and now getting some loose skin to boost. But more important to be healthy and if they don't recover/both me long term I'll get them dealt with.

lovinglavidaloca · 27/04/2020 13:22

Really upset stomach this afternoon (sorry TMI) so unsure if I’ll manage any exercise today. Will see how I feel later but certainly not feeling up to even a walk at the moment Envy

WaterIsWide · 27/04/2020 13:57

I'm weighing myself on Saturday as I made a pact to weigh myself once a month. If I weigh myself weekly, I get excited/depressed dependant on the result which makes me undermine my efforts.

B - Porridge with low sugar marmalade and low sugar raspberry jam. Cup of tea.

L - Two left over roast beef and salad rolls. Last serving of Salt and Vinegar Popchips. Diet coke. Cup of tea.

D - Spaghetti carbonara.

Snack: Chocolate will wipe out any of today's remaining calorie allowance whilst I'm watching t.v. tonight.

I have done a seated workout for a warm up. I have done another seated, 'turbo' workout. I have done HasFit then Dance like a Ninny followed by UpBeat. Two hours in total.

Pickles89 · 27/04/2020 15:18

@lovinglavidaloca Oh no! Hope you feel better soon.
