I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Oh no my scales arrived. I weighed myself yesterday and I was 12st 9. Definitely heavier than expected. When I did it again this morning I was 12st 10!

So not moving in the right direction with losing a lb a week yet. I knew I'd gained weight but didnt think it was as much as that. I am 5'5 so really need to get it down.

catinb0oots · 24/04/2020 10:42

Good morning Losers. Well done on all of you sticking to it and picking yourselves up after messing up.

I've been off the radar for a few days as restarted my antidepressants last week (after a year off them) as was feeling rubbish. This week has been wobbly but I'm starting to feel better! Food wise I've been good but exercised the first time this morning in a week.

Just did 20mins step and 20mins kettlebell. Today I'm going to focus on drinking A LOT more water as I'm sure I must be due a whoosh 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

myfuckingfreezer · 24/04/2020 12:03

Morning all,

Not posted on here for about 10 days as I was feeling disheartened. After loosing 35 pounds between Christmas and the start of April, I'd really plateaued and lost nothing for two weeks despite being good!

So I took a look at my diet and did lots of research into TDEE and BMR and tips and tricks. Realized I wasn't eating enough at 1200 a day even given how sedentary I am on lockdown.

So have made some changes and am back to loosing.
Jan 1st - 225
Feb 1st - 215
March 1st - 203
April 1st - 190
April 14th - 190
April 24th - 186

So 39pounds and counting. Another 4 pounds and I'll be 13stone after starting 2020 at 16stone!

I've always followed a low carb, high fat and protein diet but I realised after lockdown that was I sneaking in more random bits of carbs than I'd clocked. Just the odd spoonful or rice or piece of bread. Not bad things but carbs don't work for me on a diet. Neither does dairy. I'd started having weetabix in the morning with milk to set me up to run, and since cutting this out I'm back to loosing and my skin has improved again.

So happy to be back on it and seeing the difference. So for me my best principles are:

  • limit dairy
  • low carb
  • 1500 cals a day
  • lots of veg, it really fills you up and is much better in the long run than small portions of 'bad' food
  • Don't let things like your period be an excuse. The justification is largely cultural/societal. Your body does not need sugar to get through that!
  • I still have a small chocolate bar every day!
lovinglavidaloca · 24/04/2020 16:11

Wow that’s amazing @myfuckingfreezer. I’m inspired!

Pickles89 · 24/04/2020 17:04

@myfuckingfreezer Your dedication is amazing! I've never stuck at a diet that long.

Pickles89 · 24/04/2020 17:06

Today, my 'actually tighter than the pair of jeans I thought was the tightest' jeans have also gone in the crotch. Wonderful. Nothing like bursting out of your own clothes to make you feel like a flabby freak.

lovinglavidaloca · 24/04/2020 17:36

Just done my last youtube workout of the week! No more until Monday Grin

twinkledag · 24/04/2020 20:06

Well done @myfickingfreezer!

Would you share a daily menu with us so we can see what you're eating?

fairyfingers · 24/04/2020 22:40

Well after my misery last weekend things appear to have perked up and I have lost a couple of lbs. no longer obese and in the 11s.

Had a good week food wise and stuck to my 1250 pretty easily without feeling deprived. Am doing 16:8 light (more like 14:10) and reduced carbs in the day. Am still having a pudding or sweet treat every day (today was some lighter vanilla ice cream, some frozen black cherries and a shortbread - lush for well under 250 cals).

Exercise has been poor - hurt my back so rested for a couple of days, went for a long walk then work went mad so was starting at 7 and finishing at 7/8 so even though I'm wfh I've been knackered. Finished early today though so dcs took me on a walk/run. They decided to walk the loop they cycle with dh so 2 hours later I flopped back home! It's all up and down hill too.....

Pickles89 · 24/04/2020 23:05

@fairyfingers Yay that's brilliant! Really happy for you!

Pickles89 · 24/04/2020 23:16

Today:

Breakfast: Half a glass of green smoothie - 50
Lunch: Packet of twiglets - 100
Dinner: 3 x mini wraps with mayo and cheese and tonnes of salad - 600 (I know I'm going to turn into a wrap, but they needed using and it was too late to freeze them!)
Handful of red grapes - 50
2 x Easter cakes - 300

Total: 1100

That seems pretty low. I might have a yoghurt in a bit if I'm hungry but I feel ok for now. Longish dog walk this am, a bit of skipping this afto and Joe Wicks this evening. Weighing myself on Sunday which I'm a bit anxious about!

myfuckingfreezer · 25/04/2020 08:43

Would you share a daily menu with us so we can see what you're eating?

Sure - here's a couple of different days as I ten to vary it depending on what I'm doing.

Fri 24th April
1214 calories as I literally sat in front of my computer all day
B - two boiled eggs and a coffee (200)
L - teriyaki steak skewers with charred broccoli, sugar snap peas and sweetcorn (385)
D - mince and veg stuffed peppers with mozarella on a bed of spinach (425)
S - mars bar ice cream (204)

Wed 22nd April
1542 calories as I got my steps in with a good walk
B - peanut and raspberry smoothie made with almond milk and Greek yoghurt (524)
L - sausage and veg bake (516)
D - chipotle chicken and black bean salad (397)
S - coffee (30) and small kitkat (105)

Mon 20th April
1523 calories - I had carbs for dinner as I went for a run first.
B - coffee (30) Greek yoghurt with banana (200)
L - chicken, chorizo and cheese with roasted veg (515)
D - veggie burger with sweet potato and roasted veg (674)
S - mini kitkat

LaneBoy · 25/04/2020 11:48

Aaargh I’m feeling really really low today. Ate badly the last few days and not done much exercise at all as I overdid it a bit on Monday/Tuesday. No idea how to pull myself together TBH! I would very much like to just curl up and hide for a few days

twinkledag · 25/04/2020 12:12

Thank you @myfickingfreezer - are you doing low carb?

WaterIsWide · 25/04/2020 14:52

Hello to everyone who is on it, doing it, dodging it, getting back to it.

(I can relate to bursting out of clothes, I once ripped the arse out of pair of leather trousers because I my bum had got so big. They were the only pair of leather trousers I'd ever owned.)

After breakfast, I did a YouTube Be Military Fit workout this morning in the back garden with my husband. Then we went for a one mile run to the park and back home. We then stretched off to a Fitness Blender video. Total calories burned: 976. Then it was lunchtime. We will rest this afternoon.

I use MyFitnessPal to track food and exercise. It's advised me I should eat 2220 calories per day.

B - Porridge served with low sugar raspberry jam and low sugar marmalade (about 200 cals). I also had a cup of tea.

L - Half a Sloppy Giuseppi Pizza and half of a Ham and Pineapple Pizza served with salad dressed with lime juice and black pepper. (Altogether it was 1010 cals). Diet coke.

D - Home made Thai Chicken curry with basmati rice, plus poppadoms cooked in the microwave. Dressings will be mango chutney, natural yoghurt, lime pickle and onion salad. Probably a Bacardi and diet coke while we prepare the food. Total calories 653.

Pudding will be apple crumble and custard, so that will put paid to 500 calories.

MFP states what I would weigh if every day were like today. So that would be a loss of 1st 5lbs in five weeks.

However, I need to make a low fat crumble because lobbing a bag of Auntie Bessie's crumble mix on to tinned apple slices makes quite a high calorie crumble.

lovinglavidaloca · 25/04/2020 15:02

1 stone 5lbs would be amazing in 5 weeks @WaterIsWide Shock

Do you all weigh on a Monday? This Monday will only be my third weigh in since starting but last week I didn’t lose anything when I really felt I should have. I do tend to have quite a big dinner on a Sunday so do you think this makes Monday morning a bad time to weigh?

Pickles89 · 25/04/2020 15:12

@LaneBoy

I can't move today after properly overdoing it on Thursday. I feel so so exhausted. I don't want to push myself and feel even worse, but I'm conscious that it's weigh day tomorrow, and that I don't want to let exercise slide today or it'll be harder to get back into it again!

rivierliedje · 25/04/2020 15:24

I am doing okay at the moment. Slow losses, but losses none the less. I have stopped having second portions and stopped having sweets on weekdays (hot cross buns, easter chocolate etc). I do allow sweets at weekends, but finding I actually don't want seconds.
From this Monday I will stop having snacks as well. This is going to be harder, especially as I have a few days off work and being home makes snacking much easier.
Planning to start a veg patch in the garden to distract myself.

WaterIsWide · 25/04/2020 17:11

@lovinglavidaloca

The scales will tell their own story.....

I weighed myself on 2nd April.

I will weigh myself on 2nd May. So, that's next Saturday. I do this to take the pressure off the weekly weigh in. In the past I've weighed myself on Monday. I used to go to a commercial diet class on a Monday and get weighed there. I did well, I lost a lot of weight but it took over two and a half years.

Spoiler alert: I put it all back on.

So, here I am.

Pickles89 · 25/04/2020 18:43

Isn't it annoying after a hard, sweaty workout, to look down and see that your bulgy tummy is still there? Angry It would be nice if there was instant gratification!

myfuckingfreezer · 25/04/2020 19:30

@twinkledag yes I'm doing low carb. Still getting carbs from my veg (and chocolate!) but not eating bread, pasta, rice etc

@WaterIsWide can I ask if your starting weight is quite high? I'm curious (jealous!) by the recommended calories on mfp

twinkledag · 25/04/2020 19:59

Thanks @myfuckingfreezer I'm trying to do it too 😁

lovinglavidaloca · 25/04/2020 20:01

Will just stick to a Monday and hope that slow and steady wins the race. I must admit if I don’t lose on Monday it’ll be a struggle to stay motivated.

@Pickles89 isn’t it?! You almost expect after a hard workout any excess flab should just be gone Grin

lovinglavidaloca · 25/04/2020 20:02

I wondered about Waters calories too.

HotCrossBungle · 25/04/2020 20:06

It's all gone to pot this weekend - wine, carbs a plenty, magnums, chocolate chip biscuits. I don't even feel that bad about it 😂 (because wine)
