lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

I was so hungry after Joe Wicks I weakened and had a snack of mini potato salad - 1 new potato, lots of cucumber, a teaspoon of mayo and some fresh basil - 150 cals

Supper was:

Tinned ratatouille - 200
2 veggie sausages - 150
Grated cheese - 150

Total so far today is 950. I'm actually really full now but know I'll be wanting cake later. Still, should come in well within my limit, and I've had loads of exercise today (for lazybones me, anyway!)

Pickles89 · 18/04/2020 22:41

@catinb0oots

Aww, it's so easily done! Don't give up though, tomorrow is another day!

lovinglavidaloca · 18/04/2020 23:48

So jealous of whoever was eating dominos!

Non scale victory for me tonight. Put on a PJ too that’s been absolutely girded to my upper arms since gaining weight and it’s much much looser tonight. I can’t believe it. The difference just a couple of weeks can make!

HungryHazelEyes · 19/04/2020 04:18

Very nice loving it's so nice to feel a change with all the hard work and focus.

B- coffee with cream and coconut oil again.

L- 5 chicken wings (leftovers, although not so sure they were good as I felt a little iffy afterwards) with some ranch to dip.

D- Leftover chicken fajita bowl with avocado, sour cream and mozzarella.

I did have a drink tonight, but still well under my calories for the day.

Before lunch I did go out and pull some weeds and really felt my legs wobble and shake!

fairyfingers · 19/04/2020 09:12

My misery continues (dh says this is my own fault and he's right). I had a great day yesterday, very low on carbs, loads of good nutritious food, in my calorie limit plus a long run/walk (2 c25k back to back).

Thought I'd weigh myself first thing this am - after a good poo obviously. Even though it would just be water weight I figured, it would be a bit of a boost from yesterday's misery.

Yep you guessed it, put on a lb. ffs. I know it won't be real weight, I shouldn't weigh every day etc etc but ffs!

Firsttimelottie · 19/04/2020 09:46

catinb0oots same!

I'm not being strict today either. Plus I've just come on my period and it just makes me really tired and I can't be bothered to food plan!

So tomorrow's looking likely that I won't have lost anything or that I may have put on! We shall see...

I'm not feeling unmotivated though. DP is getting my treadmill out today so I can crack on with that tomorrow if I feel less crampy.

I haven't lost my determination!

Firsttimelottie · 19/04/2020 09:50

fairyfingers absolutely don't weigh every day!

The result is affecting your day and so that definitely means you need to control the urge. Go easy on yourself.

HotCrossBungle · 19/04/2020 12:19

I've been doing very well this week but after a really really shit sleep last night I can feel that it's going to go downhill today. I think Sundays are allowed to be a bit relaxed? I haven't drunk any alcohol this week and have 'only' had 2 small pieces of homemade cake: banana so quite worthy 😁

Pickles89 · 19/04/2020 15:15

Lunch was gross droopy lettuce and red pepper houmous - 200
A glass of green smoothie - 100
And a twix - 150

Total 450

Only had one small dog walk today. I'm going to dig out my old skipping rope later.

lovinglavidaloca · 19/04/2020 15:49

Sometimes it can be beneficial to weigh every day if it helps with your motivation but if it’s having the opposite effect definitely stop!

LaneBoy · 19/04/2020 16:04

Yeah I find it makes it worse for me if I do it every day so I just weigh on Monday mornings. I think this is the longest I’ve managed to do it without forgetting - every Monday since 6th January.

wombatsandaplant · 19/04/2020 16:08

I weigh multiple times a week but not everyday and only Monday is the official one. I just like to be nosy, see how I’m doing.

I’ve walked the dog for 1 and half hours, I think that’s slightly too long at the moment. I also did 10 minutes of Zumba.

I've been naughty this weekend. I had an Indian in the form of a chicken jalfrezi and boiled rice. Jalfrezi is more tomato based and not as bad for you. Also some jelly babies & a couple of gins...

Oh well. To be fair when I was lighter I did have treats on weekends. I'm making a stir fry tonight, sauce from scratch. I always made things from scratch before, need to go back to that.

NothingIsWrong · 19/04/2020 18:20

Made up for the Dominos with two long classes online today and a walk with my eldest. Just had my tea and finishing the day 170cal under my target.

Pickles89 · 19/04/2020 19:16

Feeling quite low today. A month on and my jeans still aren't even the merest bit looser. I've not been terribly strict with myself because that usually results in a rebound, but I have been steadily trying. Part of the trouble is I have calorific stuff that needed using up, olives, cake, avocados, smoothies etc. Still I won't be buying any more of that.

From tomorrow:

Top limit 1400 cals a day, aiming for 1300
3 exercise sessions rather than just 2 each day
A lower calorie shopping basket!
I'm going to start weighing myself weekly

lovinglavidaloca · 19/04/2020 19:47

Just been a 4.5ish mile cycle with the kids after barely getting off the sofa all day. A nice 268 calories burned.

TheBuriedGiant · 19/04/2020 20:31

Hi all, hope it’s ok for me to join in?!
I need to lose 4 st, and have lost about 10lbs since lockdown-chocolate really is my weakness and no nipping to the shops is really helping me to limit what I consume! I’m trying to do one 10min HIIT workout each day and have a walk with my one year old. Weigh in tomorrow (but had a couple of Easter eggs this week!) Confused

Pickles89 · 19/04/2020 21:19

@TheBuriedGiant Wow you're doing great! What's your approach?

Dinner:

Pasta - 300
Mixed veg - 100
Houmous - 250
Grapes - 100
Cake -150

Total for the day: 1350

I didn't get much exercise though, just a quick dog walk earlier, a bit of skipping and a bedroom disco this evening.

HungryHazelEyes · 20/04/2020 06:42

B- coffee with cream x2.

L- Buffalo chicken empenadas- keto, with ranch.

D- Chicken thigh with cauliflower cheese (keto, homemade sauce)

I didn't do anything for exercise today though so will try better tomorrow. I also had a snack, which I don't normally do, but DD had cooked some oven chips so had a few to snack on. Only 18 calories over my daily goal though so not bad. Finished at 1378 cals.

HungryHazelEyes · 20/04/2020 06:51

honeycake don't be too hard on yourself! You have been able to lose weight before you can do it again! I have to remind myself it's mind over matter. I have to train myself to think that I don't want instead of can't have whatever it is I'm craving. If I do give in it's by choice and I don't beat myself up about it, and try to make sure the next thing I put in my mouth is good for me.

As far as exercise, I get that it can be hard to fit in. I'm trying to stand a lot more at work (I have a standing desk so that helps) and move on my breaks. I would take a walk around the street and it seems to help me feel better. Try just stretching for a few minutes at night before going to bed, or do a few yoga poses.

In order to properly lose weight I have to log my food so I use myfitnesspal and be honest with myself. I load my own recipes so I know exactly what I've eaten and it makes me think about portion control. We're here for you and no-one judges on here.

lovinglavidaloca · 20/04/2020 08:51

I stayed the same when I weighed this morning but I won’t let it deter me. Hopefully just means a bigger loss next week Smile

Yesterday was:

B - one croissant 161
D - sausage and veg traybake 459 (estimated)
S - one cornetto 198 and some Easter egg 268
Total - 1086

Duckduckgosling · 20/04/2020 10:01

Only 0.5 off this week, quite disappointing as I have been good and didn't even eat any Easter eggs.
Ahh well, back to it this week.
Still 10.5lbs off in 3 weeks so I'm happy with that.

TheBuriedGiant · 20/04/2020 10:04

@Pickles89 thanks! It’s going ok, stayed the same this morning, but I kind of expected it.
I do think less nipping to the shops for treats and not eating lunch in the cafe at work are the main reasons that I’ve managed to lose so far. I’m cooking more at home and I’m moving more too. I’m trying to fit one 10min workout each day when my ds naps as well as one walk a day. I’m counting calories too to make sure I stay in check! how are you getting on?
