lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?

I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Hi hazel

I need to try some yoga videos really. I enjoyed some classes last year (very gentle) and was missing them as a course i was doing clashed.

Had a nice short walk yesterday but feeling super achy again today. That said, yoga has helped when I feel like that so that’s a good reason to try today!

I’m really struggling with junk food cravings this week and yesterday actually felt grumpy over lack of chocolate/carbs - I’ve not felt that for a few months so I’m hoping it’s not the beginning of a slippery slope!

HotCrossBungle · 17/04/2020 13:30

I like Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. Something for all levels. Some days I do a full 30 minute flow workout, others I might do a 10 minute 'focus' workout. My balance is pretty rubbish but I muddle through.

LaneBoy · 17/04/2020 13:43

I tried one of hers this morning :) just a gentle morning one. I’m keeping a list of the videos I do so I can try a range and see what works for me

Eating not going well today though!

WaterIsWide · 17/04/2020 13:52

Hello, I've done You Tube workouts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

'Rest Day' today. Well, rest from structured exercise at least. Does supermarket shopping count ?

For Breakfast I had one slice of toast with very low fat cream cheese on it. One third had Marmite on it. The other third had low sugar marmalade on it. All washed down with a cup of tea made with semi skimmed milk.

Lunch chargrilled chicken pieces and a small bag of polystyrene, er, I mean salt and vinegar Snack a Jacks washed down with a can of diet coke. I had a craving for something sweet so I had a slice of bread with low fat margarine and some low sugar raspberry jam with a cup of tea.

Tea will be griddled unsmoked gammon and two slices of pineapple, 6oz oven chips, peas and tomato served with ketchup. Washed down with diet coke.

Afters will be chocolate whilst watching t,v. I purchased a bag of mini eggs today. A portion of 8 of them adds up to 124 calories. Very diet friendly.

NothingIsWrong · 17/04/2020 16:18

I'm very weary of dieting today. But ploughing on regardless. Just got in from work and I've done 6000 steps, I did a fitness blender workout before I went so a short walk to knock off the extra 4000 and I will be done for the day. MFP says I have 700 calories left for the day which is plenty for a small meal and maybe a glass of wine....

HungryHazelEyes · 17/04/2020 19:38

Hi lane 👋 I usually end up just doing a few poses in my bedroom right before bed. I keep meaning to actually do Adrienne's videos, but forget until right before bed. I have done one of hers before and liked it. I just have to kick DS off the Xbox!

So far today B- 2 cups of coffee, one had a spoonful of coconut oil, both had heavy whipping cream. L- leftover chicken cordon Bleu casserole with a side of leafy, green salad with ranch. D- will be chicken fajita bowls, topped with sour cream and avocado. Made with bell peppers and onion and my own seasoning.

Been very active at work today with cleaning since the cleaners aren't coming in right now, worked up a sweat!

Firsttimelottie · 17/04/2020 21:26

Today's log and I used all 1,500 calories:

B: bran flakes, blueberries and oat milk

L: half pouch of wholegrain rice with quinoa, half can of tuna, half red pepper, tbsp tomato puree and a serving of sweetcorn

D: small bowl of chicken and veg

S: oat milk in drinks. Smoothie (half avo, half banana, cup of bluerries, cup of spinach, tbsp ground seeds and tbsp almond butter) AND I had a 50g Lindt choc bunny from Easter.

Really craving tonight. Perhaps it was the chocolate I had. But I'll have some herbal tea shortly, go to bed and ignore my brain!

lovinglavidaloca · 17/04/2020 21:48

L - a plain bagel
D - half of a margarita pizza (oven not takeaway)
S - pink gin and diet lemonade and 3 raspberries

Only at 684 calories so I’ll need to have something else before bed I think. Burned over 500 exercising.

Pickles89 · 17/04/2020 22:42

Today:

Breakfast: Biscuit - 100

Lunch: Houmous, lettuce, feta and olives - 350
Slice of cake - 150

Dinner: Giant avocado - 400
Wrap - 100
Pointy pepper - 50
Banana - 150
Slice of cake - 150

Total: 1450. Again, more than I'm ideally aiming for, but still under the limit I agreed with myself on for this week. From Monday I'm going to make my top limit 1450, aiming for 1350. The trouble is I'm not a very active person. I just had one little walk today besides the Joe Wicks workout. Otherwise I just slobbed around with my laptop.

Firsttimelottie · 17/04/2020 22:58

Argh just had some more chocolate and it wasn't even that nice!

But at least it's gone now and I've already planned and logged tomorrow's meals on myfitnesspal so I'm feeling in control still.

Also, DP promised to get my treadmill out this weekend so I can finally crack on with that (I'm not keen on public jogging!)

RosesandIris · 18/04/2020 00:10

Surely cake is far more than 150 calls?

RosesandIris · 18/04/2020 00:10

Cals

fairyfingers · 18/04/2020 08:43

Well I'm a bit down in the dumps. Not lost a sausage. I think my issue is sustaining things.

I have done some form of exercise most days (hiit workout, long walk, weights, c25k) and stuck to 1200 cals most days and not a tiny bit of movement. It's depressing. The issue is the days I don't keep to 1200 - I think a once a week cheat day just doesn't work for me.

I can see the exercise is starting to tone but that just makes the flab more obvious.

I have 2 stone to lose but would be happy with 1 - 1.5 to be honest.

I was feeling quite down with all the economic and Covid news anyway and this makes me feel worse tbh. I know it seems trivial in the great scheme of things but it was meant to be a positive action and it's just another thing that seems pointless now so I'm having a little cry.

Changedname78 · 18/04/2020 09:11

@fairyfingers
I know exactly how you feel I’m the same, I’ve been so strict it’s unreal, yes lost nothing ? Let’s keep going though!!! What have we got to lose ☺️ I’m gonna give it a solid month before I give up 🤣

fairyfingers · 18/04/2020 09:30

Thanks Changed and yes, need to keep on trying. I just did a bmi check and just a lb loss sees me back into overweight from obese - surely I can get to that!

I think too many of my cals are coming from refined carbs. Loads of bread related products. Need to get back into the habit of reducing them a bit (I don't function well if I cut them right down).

wombatsandaplant · 18/04/2020 15:03

Im still eating chocolate but in moderation and I’m actually succeeding, no food stealing late at night anymore either. I’m not sure I could do it on my own eating chocolate in moderation but my dad and his partner are controlling it, so I’m hoping in time I can do it on my own.

As for no crisps, still had no crisps. I don’t miss them, I’m just avoiding eating sandwiches. I’m just having wraps and toasties, which don’t need crisps.

I’m feeling positive. I’ve been walking the dog everyday, just for 30-45 minutes but it’s better than nothing and I’m slowly building up. I used to be a Postie and even at 130kg I could easily walk 10 miles so I’d like to get back there.

@wombatsandaplant crispssss drools
Skips don’t quite cut it Sad

So far for me today just a chicken mayo sandwich at 251 calories.

I’m having homemade steak pie tonight which isn’t all that easy to get the calories for so will overestimate. I’m estimating around 550 calories for it and will have potatoes and fine beans too so need to measure work out calories for them when I serve.

Probably won’t have many calories left for much else. Will see how desperate I am for chocolate later!

Hope you’re all having a nice Saturday folks. Not that weekends mean much at the moment Grin

lovinglavidaloca · 18/04/2020 17:22

Does anyone else keep a spreadsheet? It’s really helping to keep me focused!

lockdown assisted weight loss, join me?
Pickles89 · 18/04/2020 17:36

@fairyfingers Awww, that's harsh. How long have you been at it for? I was really ill last year, in hospital, barely ate for a month and didn't eat at all for 9 straight days. I didn't lose a single pound.

My current diet isn't working either. I'm not being nearly as strict as you, allowing myself up to 1500cals a day, but I've upped my exercise. I've been at it for over a month so you'd think I'd start to see a slight difference!

Pickles89 · 18/04/2020 17:40

@RosesandIris

Sainsbury's chocolate and vanilla swiss roll. Supposedly it's 137cals in a slice, I'm rounding up.

NothingIsWrong · 18/04/2020 19:15

Humph. After a nice whoosh, not a sausage for the last three days. I expect it's always like this, I've only moved to weighing every day since lockdown. On one hand I can see immediately if I'm overindulging, but it's a bit dispiriting when the scales don't shift...

lovinglavidaloca · 18/04/2020 19:23

81 calories in one Lindor truffle Shock

Pickles89 · 18/04/2020 19:48

So far today I've eaten:

Twiglets - 100
Banana - 100
Yoghurt - 100

I went for a 40 minute walk earlier, and just finished a 45 minute swim. Ok, more of a 'splosh' than a swim, but still, burnt more calories than lying around with my feet up! I'm going to do Joe Wicks around 9ish too, so pleased with myself today. I just hope I don't ruin it at supper time!

catinb0oots · 18/04/2020 20:35

Ah I've had a shite day - fallen completely off the wagon. Eaten shit all day.

Weigh in on Monday is going to be disappointing

NothingIsWrong · 18/04/2020 21:05

@catinb0oots you may be surprised. Just crack on tomorrow and hopefully one day won't matter too much

I've just finished a dominos pizza so I am talking to myself here as well!
