I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Today I had:

Breakfast: 1/2 glass orange and mango juice - 50
Lunch: houmous with celery sticks and piece of cheese - 250
Snack: pack of twiglets - 100
Dinner: 2 toasted muffins with sauteed mushrooms, onion + garlic drowned in cheese - 750, plus a slice of swiss roll - 150

Total: 1300

I've gone nothing all day. I shoved the hoover round this morning and that wiped me out to the point where I ended up going to bed for 4 hours! Supposedly you burn calories while you sleep, but not that many calories! I had a little wander with the dog in the afternoon, just for 20 minutes and did a little gardening, but honestly it's been a really lazy day. I did do Joe Wicks though.

YinuCeatleAyru · 15/04/2020 23:57

food diary:
B: skinny crepe pancake with spray-oil sauted mushrooms 200cal
L: salad - 200cal
Mid-afternoon: mini serving risotto w peppers & aubergine 200cal
supper: mini serving chilli with roast butternut squash, black beans & freekeh 200cal
later - satsuma, 2 skinny dark choc rice cakes and a couple of squares of divine 70% chocolate with raspberries 250 cal

1050 cal total.

exercise: bike ride

NothingIsWrong · 16/04/2020 07:32

Whooooo! The whoosh theory does seems to work, I've lost 1.5lbs in the last 2 days. Taking me to 12lbs overall since lockdown started. Just got to keep it going now...

Changedname78 · 16/04/2020 10:36

@NothingIsWrong wow well done! Sometimes that’s all you need to make you push on. I’m still waiting for mine but will update when I do 😉

Changedname78 · 16/04/2020 10:37

Also does anyone know if grapes are any good for weight loss? Forcing myself to eat fruit and it’s one of the only ones I can manage?

NothingIsWrong · 16/04/2020 10:55

I've just been counting calories - I don't think any particular food is good or bad - if you use more calories than you eat, you will lose weight...

Grapes are nice frozen as well :-)

FthisS · 16/04/2020 12:04

Wow everyone has done so well. I really should get some scales but I know it will make me obsessed.

Tuesday - One glass cashew milk
Lentil dhal with half a roasted cauliflower, half a tin of potatoes and small serving of rice.
Yesterday - half a piece of vegan brownie (was my sons birthday) 2 fajitas (vegan chicken, onion, peppers with lettuce and small amount of vegan cheese).

Weight loss is done by being in a calorie deficit so essetially no food is bad for weight loss providing you eat in moderation. So grapes are fine!

Plus you get lots of vitamins from fruit and that includes grapes which contains vitamin C and K. Enjoy :)

wombatsandaplant · 16/04/2020 12:29

I weighed myself this morning because I was nosy, I’ve lost the 0.8kg I put on last week, yay. Hopefully more will come off.

Thanks yeah I’m calorie counting, sort of 😂 I’ve just read mixed reviews about grapes online, some say they actually promote weight loss, others say avoid them as they are high in sugar. Is it as simple as calorie in calorie out? Or is 100calories of grapes better than 100calories of chocolate? Or no different

YorkshireParentalPerson · 16/04/2020 12:39

Well I had a bit of an off day yesterday, ate a huge tube of parma violets, a couple of cheese scones, crackers and butter in addition to all the good stuff! It was kind of intentional, I've been the same weight for the last week and a half and I have found that if I have the occasional splurge day it seems to trick my body and I lose weight afterwards. Anyway RESULT, half a pound off this morning, taking me below 40 BMI which was my first goal.

Back on it today
L - cheese & apple
D - savoury mince with turnip mash and broccoli, greek yoghurt & raspberries

Well done to all the lockdown losers for making it this far.

@nothingiswrong well Done in your whoosh!! I want one!!

And well done everyone else.

Today
L - tuna salad
D - chicken and broccoli

and two cups coffee with hazelnut milk

I actually managed to buy a kettlebell today from a local personal trainer - she dropped it off in my drive, so I can add kb classes to my exercise regime now!

HotCrossBungle · 16/04/2020 17:08

@firsttimelottie my first thought on your hunger trigger question was bread, then carbs in general, then sugary things, then back to bread and couldn't decide which it was. When I overeat these things in one go then I'm forever 'starving' for the rest of the day. Thinking about it I've realised that when I do overeat these things, I under eat foods that are nutritionally dense and vitamin loaded. So, maybe it's not so much certain foods that trigger 'hunger' but the lack of other foods that propels me to eat more - my body is telling me that I haven't fed it properly, I misunderstand these cues and shovel more (of the same) food in rather than eating what my body actually needs.

Does that make any sense? It's just a theory.

Maria53 · 16/04/2020 18:51

I'm on day 5 and felt quite grumpy about it today!

Actually got up early before work and did an online vinyasa yoga class.

Breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs with chives and a veggie sausage
Lunch - bowl of lentil daal soup (would usually add bread and butter but resisted)
Dinner - not had it yet but going to be a chicken live with lots of vege and some cous cous.
Felt v hungry about 3pm so had a boiled egg.

I suffer with acne and my skin feels hot, tight and itchy quite often. My skin is looking and feeling better. Drinking a lot of water but it could be a coincidence.

NothingIsWrong · 16/04/2020 18:55

chicken live 😱😱

I've been for my walk today making it 12 days in a row I've hit 10,000 steps. Not had my tea yet but I've got about 400 cal to play with so should be OK.

NothingIsWrong · 16/04/2020 18:58

@Maria53 my skin is way better as well, and I'm drinking loads more water as well.

Yes I think in terms of weight loss consuming 100 calories of grapes would provide you with the same weight loss result as if you were to consume 100 calories of chocolate instead.

Obviously having chocolate instead of grapes would provide you with zero nutritional value. And the sugar in chocolate is different to that of the fructose in fruit so it may affect your body differently - for example the chocolate may make you crave more!!

But if you are eating well, sticking within your calorie range and including in that a small chocolate bar you will lose weight.

Technically you could eat three-four chocolate bars a day and you would still lose weight! You just wouldn't be able to eat anything else and you'd feel awful from the lack of nutrition!

Personally, I wouldn't look at what boosts or doesn't boost weight loss. It can become confusing and restrictive. Just stick to calorie and obviously focus on the nutrient dense food. Smile

Firsttimelottie · 16/04/2020 20:08

HotCrossBungle

Hmmm yes I understand your theory. I've had potatoes this evening but filled up on veg and chicken mostly so feel ok.

Yesterday I felt hungry after bbq chicken and mash but once I had a serving of cauliflower I felt ok. So perhaps you're onto something!

I'm finding dieting quite interesting. I'm finally listening to my body and what it wants/doesn't want/doesn't like.

Firsttimelottie · 16/04/2020 20:12

Food log today (total 1,400 calories)

B: 40g oats cooked in water with 80g blueberries, 15g (tbsp) almond butter and a drizzle of honey.

L: half pouch of wholegrain rice with quinoa, half red pepper, half can of tuna, 1 tbsp tomato puree, half can of chickpeas and 3 tbsp sweetcorn - sounds gross but mixed it all together and heated in microwave for 2.5 minutes and it did the job!

D: chicken casserole with potato, onion, celery and carrots + peas and 1 Yorkshire pudding

S: oat milk in drinks and 80g black grapes

lovinglavidaloca · 16/04/2020 22:36

Hi all, can I join you please?
Well done on all your losses so far!

I started counting calories and exercising last Monday. Starting weight was 11 stone 7 and weight on Monday just there was 11 stone 4.

I’m aiming for 1300 calories per day but so far most days I’ve been closer to or slightly over 1500. Will try much harder from now on.

Have been going a walk most days of around 40 minutes - sometimes more and sometimes less and doing a workout from Fitness Blender on Youtube each day Monday - Friday. This is a huge increase in exercise for me. I didn’t do any before.

I’m 5 foot 7 and my end goal is 9 stone but my interim goal is 10 stone so another 1 stone 4 to go!

Pickles89 · 16/04/2020 22:44

Today:

Twiglets - 100
Banana - 150
Tropical juice - 50

Lettuce + spring onion - negligible
Houmous - 250
Toasted muffin - 200
Cheese - 100
Antipasti - 200

Slice of cake - 150
Handful of grapes - 100
Another slice of cake (what can I say, it's chocolate and sitting in front of me!) - 150

Total: 1450

A bit high, but then my upper limit is 1500 so I haven't cheated, and I did walk the dog for an hour today with lots of steep hills, and do Joe Wicks.

HungryHazelEyes · 17/04/2020 04:13

Ooooh, can I join please?

I have just got back on track starting today as I'm tired of feeling crap. I eat keto friendly foods usually, but was eating way too many mini eggs which let to eating more sugar- containing foods. I have been suffering with stomach pains the last couple of days so hoping that very soon I'll be back to normal. (We have no more mini eggs in the house!)

I have been losing weight with keto on and off for over 2 years now. When I don't cheat it's easy for me to stick to. I mainly eat veggies, healthy fats and protein.

Today I weighed myself at 169 pounds. I have gained 10 pounds in the last 3 months, most of it has been in the last month though. I changed jobs in January and just don't move as much.

I got back on myfitnesspal today as when I'm logging my food I lose weight. I can maintain when I don't log, unless I let carbs creep back in. I'm 5ft 7in and if I stick to 1300-1400 calories I can lose.

Today I had: B- coffee with heavy whipping cream and a teaspoon of coconut oil (to try to get things moving again) L- chicken cordon Bleu casserole D- chicken cordon Bleu casserole again with a leafy and green salad. I drank lots of water, more than usual when I'm home. I plan on doing 20-30 minutes of yoga before bed (I'm in the states so behind you guys).

HungryHazelEyes · 17/04/2020 06:05

I did 20 minutes of yoga tonight, it's getting late. I've already noticed a lot of bloating I had last night has gone down. I have done yoga the last couple of nights and felt so big, so I'm heading in the right direction!

lovinglavidaloca · 17/04/2020 10:11

Wish I could get into yoga! I just have zero balance whatsoever.

I’ll do a Fitness Blender video at some point today and try and drag my kids out for an hour!

No idea what I’ll be eating - chicken fried rice for dinner I think and maybe an omelette for lunch.
