Need to lose 3stone in 3 months.

Any suggestions as to best format to achieve this?

I'm limited as to amount of exercise I can do, so it looks like dietary approach to begin with, then hope to add in some exercise when I can.

Just wondering if anyone has got advice and/or done similar themselves and can share.

All input gratefully received.Flowers

I lost about 2 and a half stone in 3 months last summer. I did omad and some 48 to 72 hour fasts. Very low carb, but not totally keto. Drank 2 to 3 liters of water a day.
Be prepared for lots of hair loss about 2 months later though, think that's quite normal with drastic weightloss. All growing back now.
I have kept it off even though I eat normally at the moment.

thenightsky · 16/02/2020 21:36

In my experience its not possible. Well not 3 stone in 3 months.

I managed 1 stone and it took me 800 to 1,000 calories a day from end of August to middle of November. My stomach rumbled for approx. 70% of the time.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2020 12:34

It could be done , I've done a stone in a month, without feeling hungry or counting cals. . Look at Paula Mackenna (I Can Make You Thin) for a different approach to losing weight.

I gave up caffiene and alcohol. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas, a little green tea (not fruit teas) Also did Food Combining which is eating carbs and protein at separate meals, Also fruit only when you're hungry, not for dessert (I eat it for breakfast). When I gave up sugar it literally dropped off !!!

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2020 12:36

Sorry Paul Mackenna, he has a completely different approach to weight loss; eat mindfully. only when you're hungry and stop when you're full.

A VLCD such as Exante, Cambridge etc would see you lose 3st rapidly, but it's also very easy to put the weight back on after, if you don't reintroduce food properly!

Babyg1995 · 17/02/2020 14:56

Low carb I lost 3 stone in 2 1/2 months doing protein world and low carb I was also exercising mostly cardio every day .

JustForTheTasteOfIt · 17/02/2020 15:08

Wouldn't that depend on your starting weight and your current calorie intake, to help work out how much you are over eating by and how much you safely can afford to lose?

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2020 10:30

The VLCD's are a waste of time and are not healthy IMO. They're too easy to put on MORE weight after you FINISH them.

I have never counted calories and have lost 3 stone (more slowly than in 3 months though) BUT if the op stuck to my plans she would lose the weight in 3 months and be healthy as long as she eats basically, plenty of fruit and vegetables, no potatoes or wheat.

delilahbucket · 18/02/2020 12:37

It depends what your long term goal is. It is possible to drop weight very quickly but it is highly likely you will learn nothing about food intake and pile it all straight back on again. Alternatively, lose less weight over that three months, but doing it slowly will teach you how to maintain your weight afterwards.
What is happening in three months and why three stone?

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2020 12:56

The op's gone away Delilah Sad Maybe it's for her (or a) wedding. If it is then eating healthily will make her skin look good for the pix too Grin

delilahbucket · 18/02/2020 20:16

Probably to fit into an already purchased wedding dress. That's usually the cause of these last minute decisions to lose a lot of weight.

Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 20:43

Ha!!
No wedding forthcoming!

Im just fed up at weight gain over last two years, due to stress, menopause and now I'm facing possible surgery.

The idea of having a blubber fat suit at that time is making me feel 🤢.

So, mixture of vanity and necessity. No dresses!! No romance!!

I was pretty healthy, and conscious of nutrients, but all gone awol lately.

I need a quick fix. Just for motivation.

It doesn't need to be 3 stone- that's my end goal. But as much as possible to help me cope with those bluddy awful operation gowns! Wink

delilahbucket · 18/02/2020 22:11

A quick fix is not what you need. Slow and steady wins the race. It will not motivate you in the long run when you pile the weight back on.

Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 22:50

I think slow and steady has its place in my plan, but I need a motivational boost to get me going for first stone and a bit.
If I can get rid of that particular baggage, I may feel a bit more relaxed about the rest.

I'm not sure though. I feel I just need a quick start and then re-evaluate?

Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 22:51

I've never been this heavy, so its difficult to accept.

OP posts:
yogo · 18/02/2020 22:54

Exante. A stone a month and it's not too hard if you can get past the first 5 days.

Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 23:23

@yogo....exante! 3 shakes a day?
Or 4?
I've read conflicting information. But I confess, I'm interested.

OP posts:
Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 23:25

I feel it's a reboot, in a sense?

MsTSwift · 18/02/2020 23:27

Google Michael Mosley intermittent fasting 16/8. I lost 2 stone in 3 months and keeping it off. Slow and steady doesn’t work for me I need hard and fast. Seeing results is very motivating.

goldenorbspider · 18/02/2020 23:28

I don't know if anyone's suggested this but drugs, lose a limb, wire your jaw shut. Any reason for the rush op?

WeThreeKingsofOrientAre · 18/02/2020 23:32

Look at The Harcombe Diet by Zoe Harcombe, it advocates reducing and removing processed unnatural food and sugar. Excellent evidence-based scientific principles and you are never hungry.

Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 23:34

@goldenorbspider, potential surgery and wanting to keep my dignity in those bluddy awful hospital gowns!

My fat ass, jelly rolls and cellulite are best under wraps! Blush

OP posts:
Ineedaplan · 18/02/2020 23:39

Ta to the suggestions of intermittent fasting and Zoe Harcombe.
I am open to all suggestions, just to get me on the downward trek.

I just need that push and the motivation that comes from early results.

I know that's shallow, but I need early encouragement from the scales or tape measure.

Intermittent fasting is amazing I am a convert. On October 8th I was 11 st 12. Now 9 st 12 2 dress sizes smaller and the talk of the town, random acquaintances texting to ask how I did it Grin
