I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

bumping for you...

am waiting for a counsellor to ring me back - I've only got a stone to lose but am finding it impossible. Am hoping that the restrictiveness and the weekly support Cambridge seems to offer will do the trick

BoleynGirl · 03/09/2007 13:12

Hattie, I have just re-started today. Did it for only a few days in the summer holidays and realised I couldn't with my dds off school. So I have had my 2 already today and will have one later tonight. Drinking lots of water. How much have you got to lose? I think I probably need to lose 5 stone in total. God, I'm so ashamed even admitting that.

hattiejacques · 04/09/2007 18:31

Hurrah! Someone replied! I was giving up hope. Well done for getting through day 1. How's today been? I only started today and it feels very weird not to be able to eat at all. I found myself having to consciously stop myself putting carrot in my mouth that I was chopping for my ds's. I've got 4 stone to lose but tbh would be really happy with 3

OP posts:
hattiejacques · 04/09/2007 18:32

It wasn't my carrot chomping that got me into this state by the way!

BoleynGirl · 04/09/2007 23:18

I've managed 2 days but it's torture. Especially when doing doing for my dds. Like you say it's the unconscious stuff that is really hard to stop. Plus I miss food already. There's only so far a chocolate drink goes, you know??

Keep going Boleyngirl! I'm finding it tough too. So far my resolve hasn't weakened though. My friends all think I'm mad and I suppose I can see why! I'm on day 2 and not hungry at the mo but quite headachey and generally restless. I REALLY missed my glass of wine last night too. Thanks Yorkiegirl for your good luck - I need it! And really well done on your weight loss and keeping it off.

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 12:34

I haven't caved yet but my god it's so hard. I've been drinking lots of water and hoping that will see me through. Can't believe you're not hungry, my stomach is rumbling away!!

Day 3 when I should have hit ketosis allegedly. Will test tonight as I have some sticks.

Yorkiegirl, I'm inspired by your loss. How long did that take you?

BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 14:39

I've found a new counsellor, too, who is closer to me. I'm using a supply from when I half heartedly attempted this earlier in the year. She seems much more switched on than the other one ever did.

Yay! That helps when you have someone who doesn't just want to sell the product but they want to support you, too.

BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 16:16

Me again. I'm going to get some bars next time. Do they come in packs of 3 does anyone know? I know the tetra drinks do.

hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 17:25

Just to let you know I'm bloody ravenous now and have been for the entire afternoon. Have had about 2 litres of water so far. Do you have to wait 2 weeks before having the bars? I don't mind the shakes actually I'm sure that will change after my 100th one! Keep going BG and let me know when you're in ketosis

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 18:06

Ok, I just made dinner for the dds and I'm not hungry. I didn't stare at it longingly which is a first. So hang in there!

I am going to test tonight for ketosis and report back. If not, I'll be frustrated. Keep drinking so much water, too. Ugh, this better be worth it. It's like mental torture.

By the time I get the bars, HJ, I will be nearly at the end of week 2 so that's good. I haven't ordered any hot drinks, I don't like them. Instead, I've got the tetra packs which I think are ok especially for breakfast then various cold flavour.

Tonight I think I'll have cappucino flavour. I get 4 packs a day so today have had 2 tetras (which I know is bad but I couldn't do anything about it), then a chocolate one just now. Will have the 4th after the girls are in bed.

hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 18:13

I feel like I'm going to collapse. I feel so weak. But I'm determined I won't give up. I've promised myself I'll do at least a week then review. I've got to do 2 night shifts at the end of the week so that should be interesting. Do you get an extra thingy because you're taller or just because your cdd likes you!? I've just cooked for my 2 ds's and it was complete torture. Do you have more energy now that the hunger pangs have subsided?

hi - i started a while back and lost 1 1/2 stone then i stopped over the summer for 2 months. i started yesterday and as usual i'm dizzy and starving, but nothing's as quick as this so it's the scales that will keep me going. i just keep busy and let the odd crumb sneak in - i'd die of deprivation if i didn't!i maintained overthe summer by exercising and having one or 2 treats a week - just didn't go mad, but normal.

BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 18:19

I get 4 packs because I'm taller, that's all.

I don't feel as bad as I thought I would. I felt much much worse yesterday. I have pretty good willpower at the best of times but this really tests you, doesn't it?

I am a nurse and am dreading going back to work in 2 weeks. That will be the real test when there are night shifts etc. Ohh, I don't even want to think about that yet.

hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 18:25

Luckygirl how long did it take you to lose 1 1/2 stone? Sounds like you've done really well over the hols.

OP posts:
hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 18:28

I'm a nurse too and I mainly do nights so I'm expecting to feel more knackered than usual. What an awful thought

OP posts:
luckylady74 · 05/09/2007 18:30

hi - it was 6 weeks - i know it's incredible - well not really it's starvation and that's always effective if you stick with it but i never could until i did this because i don't have to think -3 packets and that's it - everything else i seem to think about the food all day even though it's a rubbish amount! but i was dizzy every time i stood up and irritable.

hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 18:32

Do you mean for the whole time? I'm intrigued as to what sort of 'crumbs' you were partaking of?!

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 05/09/2007 18:33

I don't do that many night shifts but you may go a week without them then have a week full of them. I'm a zombie by 4 in the morning anyway, god only knows how I'll cope.

I wonder if Yorkiegirl will come back and maybe tell us how long it took to lose the weight? I need the numbers on the scale for inspiration.

notquitesobigfatmummy · 05/09/2007 19:27

Hi

Thought I'd say hello to you all and wish you well in your CD "journey". Stick with it, it is REALLY worth it.

I started at the end of March and have lost 6st 5lbs in total (that includes 7lb lost on ww before starting CD). It is very hard in the beginning but it does get easier as you go into Ketosis and you basically get used to it.

I advise against picking at all costs! I know because I've been there. I've still got a stone to lose but started picking a while ago and before you know it you're picking more and more and it gets out of hand. If I hadn't started picking I'd of finished this diet by now!! So be warned...!

A really good website you should look at is

www.minimins.com/cambridge-diet-forum/

You'll find really good support and advice on there. Yorkiegirl visits that website aswell as a few others on here, so look out for them.

Good luck everyone - WE CAN DO IT!!

hattiejacques · 05/09/2007 19:33

Wow that's amazing! Well done and thanks for the website info

hi again hattie - i honestly only meant 1 chip or a teaspoon of something a day - i know it's wrong, but it kept me sane - it's not like i had a slice of cake or anything!
it makes me really manic so i keep making to do lists and keeping busy.

BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 11:44

Hattie, you still with me on this??

Day 4 now and feeling ok. Had to go do the food shop today for everyone else. That seemed really hard. Spent less though!
