I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

Yes! Still here. Don't feel too bad today. Not as hungry or tired and feeling incredibly virtuous! Did you test for ketosis?

OP posts:
hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 15:41

I take it all back. I've just walked up the hill to school and I feel weak as a kitten and suddenly starving. Should I start to feel better soon?

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 15:45

I felt great this morning and dreadful this afternoon, too. I was thinking about what I could have dinner then remembered it's probably a chocolate shake.

I am in ketosis according to the sticks so that's one good thing.

So please can the weight fall off now because this is really really hard??

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 15:51

When will you get weighed? I'm going to cook macaroni cheese for my kids tonight mainly because I dislike it but frankly would eat anything at the mo I'm so hungry. I can put yp with it if I know it's working (which I don't yet) And then the alternative is to stop and go back to hating my fat. Not an option.

Hi all
I am doing Cambridge diet, I started at the end of May and I have lost 3 st 8 so far. I only have 6 pounds to lose before I begin maintenance!
I am also going on the course to become a Cambridge Counsellor.
Its a tough diet for the first few days especially but it does get easier.
As YG says, keep drinking the water.. it really helps
Good advice re picking too... if you start its hard to stop!
Good luck Ladies

Well done spooky! Your story is so encouraging. You've lost about what I want to. Did you SS all the way?

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 06/09/2007 16:01

I did SS for 12 weeks, and I started on 790 after that as I had started going to the gym! I needed the extra calories!
here's my progress pics!

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 16:19

You look great! You must be so proud of yourself. Did you gain any weight or did it just slow down when you went to 790? Also how much did you lose in the 12 wks on ss? Sorry for all the questions!!

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 06/09/2007 16:26

hehe! Its ok. In the first 12 weeks of SS I lost 3 stones. I lost a stone of that in the first fortnight. I have been on 790 for a month and only lost 8 pounds, but tbh I was/have been/am being a bit naughty Losses do slow down on 790.

BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 16:51

Spooky, you look great. You've reminded me I need one of the dds to take a photo of me now. Then one about every 2 weeks to see the loss.

I was going to say, Hattie, that the water does seem to help me. I've been drinking lots today.

I'm glad we have this thread though or I may have caved by now. My dds are having pasta salad and garlic bread tonight. Two things I love. Ohhhh, the humanity of it all. But if I'd been better in the past I wouldn't be here now.

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 17:20

My sentiments exactly. In relation to myself not you! I've had 3 litres of water today plus a black coffee. Are you drinking more? I think I'm beginning to sound obsessive but I've got to stay on track. When Spooky said she lost 3st in 3 months I thought right I'm going to do this. It can be done.

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 17:34

I've had about 4 or 5 pints of water so far - not sure how that converts to L though. I'll have another 2-3 today I should think.

Exactly, 3 months is nothing really. It's all mind over matter.

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 17:56

I think 4 pints = 2.2 litres.

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 06/09/2007 18:14

Go for it Ladies! What fab positive attitudes! Remember... how far you have come rather than how much you have to do!

BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 18:19

I've filled up a 2L bottle in the fridge and have emptied that once today and am on my second run through of it. So if I get the 4L a day that's enough isn't it?

I don't know why I didn't realise the empty bottle of coke, that now holds water was in L. Blonde moment for sure.

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 18:27

The recommended minimum on cd is 2.2 litres which is 4 pints so if you have double that you'll be doing fantastically. I've been really thirsty today so have had about 3 1/2 litres.

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 06/09/2007 18:32

Sounds like plenty. I usualy get through between 4 and 5 litres of water and whatever tea and coffee I drink

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 18:45

That's alot of water! I'm going to try for more tomorrow. I aim to drink most of it up to teatime( I mean shake time) otherwise I'd be up all night weeing

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 19:00

I've also been really thirsty today and I have brushed my teeth about 3 times already. Feel like I've got permanent bad breath at the moment.

I've got one more shake to have tonight and the rest is water.

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 19:09

I can't wait till Monday when I get weighed. I expect to have lost at least a stone for all this suffering!!

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 19:26

You know what's really bad? I didn't weigh myself before starting because I started using old stock of mine, if you see what I mean. So I will have no idea. I don't even really know what my weight is but have a vague(ish) idea. My counsellor is coming over next Thursday and I'll get weighed then. I'm assuming I'll notice a difference in clothes if nothing else.

If not, I may lose the will to live completely!

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 19:51

Haven't you got any scales at home? How frustrating not to know. Still you're doing really well. Keep going!

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 20:00

No scales at home. I would have weighed myself had I been at work (in the treatment room when everyone was asleep or something!) but I've been off.

I did intend to do it at Boots earlier this week but that never happened either!

I'll cope without knowing I think.

I had dd take some photos tonight. Not a pretty sight.

I'm also wondering why I thought dating now would be a good idea.

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 20:09

Stay positive. The only way is down. I look pretty disgusting too. I keep telling myself that I'll never look as bad as this again. I've only gained weight since I had my kids and can't believe I've let it go on this long - 6 years of hating my body and trying to diet.

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 20:27

I'm the opposite. I have always been overweight, since childhood really. Yet I was always active, always played sports. I only gained 2 stone with each of my pregnancies so can't really blame that either. I think it's a control thing with food, or lack of it, and finding food as comfort. This is cold turkey for that habit. It could explain the tears tonight for no apparent reason.

I also can't wait till, say Christmas? When at the Xmas party I won't look like Jabba the Hut.
