I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

And, I don't know about you but you'd think working 12 hours on your feet, racing up and down corridors would help somewhat but it doesn't seem to, does it?

After the first 2 weeks I'm going to start running again. I used to run all the time but haven't in about 18 months. I'll need to build up to it with longer walks. I also need to find time.

Tottie32 · 06/09/2007 20:34

you are all doing great i may join you soon, i have some milkshakes in but have never had the determination to start the diet....

i so need to lose 3-4 stone....

hattiejacques · 06/09/2007 20:42

Go on tottie32 join us! The more the merrier!
Bg I know what you mean about working shifts although I'm probably not as physically active being a psyche nurse. Even so I'm regularly up from 6am until 8am the following morning, running around after 2 kids and then going to work and often not getting a break all night if we're busy. I should be 8 st! Hey ho. Wish I could go running but I'm way too buxom. Am thinking of getting an exercise dvd to do at home when the time is right

BoleynGirl · 06/09/2007 23:17

Tootie, join us! As Hattie said, the more the merrier! The first few days have been hard but today, maybe not as bad. I'm on day 5 tomorrow so far so good, I think.

Oh, I wish I was buxom. I'm just fat. I always felt cheated because the one thing I thought I should have is ample cleavage and instead I'm the only fat person I know who wears a B cup. So running for me is ok. I have a Davina dvd but find it hard to motivate myself to do that at night.

BoleynGirl · 07/09/2007 07:54

I feel like I'm in Big Brother ... day 5. Feel a bit headachey this morning but did have a very late night which wasn't my wisest move as I have a date tonight. Ugh.

We were going to go for dinner but have managed to convince him we should just go drinking. I think it's ok to drink slimline tonic isn't it? Please say yes.

hattiejacques · 07/09/2007 13:04

Not sure about that. Has it got citric acid in it? I'd check with your counsellor. I'm feeling really pleased with myself. I met with a close friend for coffee this morning and she tried to persuade me to have a homebaked scone but I didn't give in. Didn't feel hungry but still felt I could have one. It's not always about hunger is it? Feeling ok today. Day 4 and on a night shift tonight. Good luck with your date btw

BoleynGirl · 07/09/2007 13:30

Good luck with your night shift. Well done on the willpower, too. I haven't really been tested yet. That'll be tonight I suppose. I emailed my counsellor so waiting to hear back from her.

It's the 2nd date and he's staying over. Read into that what you will. My dds are with their dad this weekend. I don't want to admit to him that I'm on this diet as he is quite, er, fit (in a goes to the gym daily, runs, climbs etc) sense and I think he'd be worried about me if nothing else.

I made the dds a shepherd's pie for their dinner tonight. They'll go off to their dad's around 6 so I need to feed them first. That was hard. Just stupid things like having a scoop of mashed potato were out of the question.

hattiejacques · 07/09/2007 13:38

You're doing so well!! At least you'll have the opportunity to be naughty tonight without it involving food! I've got 2 nights on 1 off then 2 on so I'm hoping I won't be around food that much as dh will be seeing to breakfasts and lunches. I don't usually feel very hungry on nights but ravenous when I finish so it'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm sure everyone at work will think I'm crazy and being unhealthy too but I'm going to ignore them! Got to stay focused and all that. Btw are your bowel habits ok? Mine have completely disappeared. Haven't been since day 1.

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 07/09/2007 13:41

Naughty without involving food - LOL!

You know I hadn't thought of bowel habits, but nothing since day 2 I guess. That said, given the quantity of water we're drinking, I'm never far from the loo!

luckylady74 · 07/09/2007 13:50

hattie - i'm taking psyillum husk capsules for the constipation - last time i did it i'd lost lots of weight ,but didn't go for 6 days and had a huge tummy! senokot are fine too - the c diet laxatives are rubbish - just wind producing which i'm pleased to do without!
this diet is so mad - 13 stone when i started on tuesday and now 12 6 on friday.
spooky - how fantastic.

where can i get ketosis sticks from?

hattiejacques · 07/09/2007 13:52

Me too. I suppose bowel movements will be a rare occurence considering that we're surviving on liquid. Is that ok?

OP posts:
BoleynGirl · 07/09/2007 14:05

My counsellor gave me the ketosis sticks.

Lucky, well done on your weight loss! Now I wish I'd had a way to weigh myself. I'll have to keep going regardless.

SpookyMadMummy · 07/09/2007 15:44

Luckylady your counsellor should have ketostix in stock or you can go to Boots but be prepared for the third degree as to why you want them! I think Lloyds Chemists stock them too.

luckylady74 · 07/09/2007 16:03

so do you think 'i'm perfectly aware of the risks of a low calorie diet' is a reasonable response if they question me ? i may just wait for next week andsee if my counsellor has some.

luckylady74 · 07/09/2007 16:10

boleyngirl - i have been known to wip my clothes off in my mil's bathroom to weigh myself - door firmly shut of course - or our leisure centre has out of the way scales.

SpookyMadMummy · 07/09/2007 16:17

Oh if you have an ASDA pharmacy they do them too and apparently no questions! I think most of the pharmacy assistants in Boots are a bit anal about who they sell them to because of the Atkins Diet. Bit of a hypocrisy really seeing as Boots sell Atkins products!!!

luckylady74 · 07/09/2007 16:19

off to asda tonight (bit sad that really !) so will get some along with the food for everyone but me!thanks.

BoleynGirl · 07/09/2007 16:27

My lovely new counsellor who I'm seeing next week just emailed to say she is on holiday for 2 weeks from 23rd September or something. That pretty much means I'm going to have to start weighing myself somewhere else like Boots or, worse yet, work.

Off to start getting ready for date night. Eeek! Please do not let me cave in to the evil that is pinot grigio.

hattiejacques · 07/09/2007 17:57

Boleyngirl hope you have a lovely evening. Keep going! It'd be disaster to stop now. You've done brilliantly so far. We must will each other to stay strong. I think that once we start losing we'll have a bigger incentive to keep going.

BoleynGirl · 08/09/2007 09:57

I was good last night, well in some respects I was, and stuck to the diet. So I feel good about that. Now day 6 for me, I wish I could notice a difference in weight but as yet I can't.

Hattie, aren't you back at work this weekend? If so I hope that goes ok.

Spooky, I posted at minimins on a thread you're on and mentioned you had given me the link. Hope that's ok. Registered with the same nickname so I'm easy to spot!

SpookyMadMummy · 08/09/2007 10:59

thats fine, BoleynGirl! You will find it as addictive as MN!!!

hattiejacques · 08/09/2007 15:20

Hi worked a night last night and have to say I was dreadfully tired with hunger pangs. I had to pretend I felt great because my colleagues were really negative about the diet and told me the because it's so low cal it was inevitable I'd put it all back. I was all defensive about it and despite feeling really crap managed to stick to it. I continued to drink loads and had a middle of the night shake which means one less today. Don't know how tonight will go. Tested my wee at work and I'm def in ketosis. Btw I logged on to minimins and found it all very confusing to find recent messages. I find mn really simple to navigate in comparison. Maybe it's just me. Still haven't had my bo but not uncomfortable. Has anyone Gone on the cd website forum? Well done boleyn for being good last night. Hope the naughty bit was fun too!

BoleynGirl · 08/09/2007 22:51

I've let you all down and I didn't even want to . I went around to the ex-in laws today and she said why don't you stay for dinner. She totally would not have understood the concept of the diet at all and I didn't want to seem ungrateful either. I'm so weak. So I had a few baby potatoes and a half chicken breast. I skipped pudding but that will have totally knocked me out of ketosis so I feel like a big old failure. I think I'm going to have to avoid any sort of social outing because I think unless you're doing this diet, you don't get it.

SpookyMadMummy · 09/09/2007 07:54

Boleyngirl its not a let down!
Drink lots of water to flush the carbs out of your system. If you do cheat then protein and green veg like add a meal or 790 will do the least damage.
Don't be tempted to skip packs either, If you do you will go into starvation mode.
Just draw a line under it and start afresh. Drink that water and get straight back on!
Good luck!

BoleynGirl · 09/09/2007 09:33

Yeah, I drank loads of water last night and am back on it so feel ok(ish) about things. I didn't want to do it but just didn't know how to say no without seeming totally rude.

So have had my lovely tetra pack chocolate drink and one my 3rd pint of water for today and it's only 930.

Onwards and all that.
