Banting is my favourite old fashioned word. Means slimming, and I got it from Agatha Christie Grin

I don't naturally have a sweet tooth (although obviously I do love chocolate, it's delicious) so never really used to buy sweet things very often. My partner is a sweetie monster, so now the house is full of this stuff (his actual sweeties I'm not interested in but chocolate and biscuits too) and just knowing it's there - I want it - arrrg. So also trying to just cut it out and reset on the cravings.....maybe I'll give chocolate up for lent too.

Octopus37 · 02/02/2020 10:30

9st5.75 this morning, will probably ping back up tomorrow though.

Twixes · 02/02/2020 10:33

Are you off ADs at the moment @Octopus37? I've been on them since last January and I put on about 10lbs almost instantly and more since the summer. That's what I'm trying to shift now, I think ADs make you put on weight because when you feel normal you eat properly, certainly was for me anyway. I was in such a bad way before starting them that I wasn't eating. I looked great but I was in a bad bad place.

Patchworksack · 02/02/2020 13:21

Totally off topic but DH has decided to replace our perfectly serviceable duvet with one made of wool, as soon as I walked into the room I said "what is that smell 😱" He is all offended because it is a souper douper luxury duvet and he got some amazing deal on it, but a) there was nothing wrong with the old one and b) it smells of wet sheep. I actually couldn't stand it last night and slept on the sofa with a synthetic fleecy but not smelling of sheep blanket. Obviously the only sane response is to LTB.... So now I am tired and grumpy and will make poor food choices.

everycowandagain · 02/02/2020 13:33

@Patchworksack not good!

DontFundHate · 02/02/2020 15:39

Oh dear! I've always fancied a wool duvet Grin

Twixes · 02/02/2020 16:23

I wouldn't be happy @Patchworksack!

So I went out last night, drank too much. Regret it and now I think I should probably give up altogether. Needless to say I haven't eaten well today. And weigh in tomorrow.

Wineloffa · 02/02/2020 16:50

Last night we arrived in the restaurant to find a big group of our friends there to surprise me for my birthday! So there was a lot of food, cake, drinks, etc. Fab night but definitely not good for my diet! Trying to be good today despite the hangover.

Today’s menu:

Breakfast - toast and butter
L- hummus and rice cakes, smoked salmon
D- will be beef casserole and mash

Snacks- pack mini cheddars, small ice-cream cone

Patchworksack · 02/02/2020 17:31

How lovely wineloffa! There's definitely a knack to bring able to have a big night of food and revelry then just get back on the wagon the next day. It's the 80% of the time eating well that will make the longterm difference.

Octopus37 · 02/02/2020 17:34

Yes, I'm off them now. TBH was eating properly before I went on them, unless something absolutely terrible happens, I don't go off my food. Have been on them and off them over the past five and a half years for various reasons. Think my metabolism might start being able to work again. Sorry you have been through rough times, it sucks doesn't it.

WellErrr · 02/02/2020 19:57

Hope you’re feeling better soon Twixes!

Wine that sounds amazing! Glad you had a good time!

I’m doing so, so badly. I knew this would happen when I neared target :(

1742 calories yesterday, and 1635 today.

I’m slipping back into my old habits - ‘oh I deserve it’ ‘oh I’ll have a better day tomorrow’ etc etc.

Hopefully a bad weigh in tomorrow will shock me back onto the straight and narrow! I’ve planned a 1000 calorie day tomorrow, and I’m in work so it should be do-able, because if I don’t take it I can’t eat it!

Good luck everyone else for the weigh in 💪

Octopus I’m like that, takes a LOT to put me off my food 😂

Heygirlheyboy · 02/02/2020 20:19

I'm not too hopeful for weigh in tomorrow as I feel the monthly bloat coming on :( but I hope to emerge on the other side v svelte 😂 Here's to week 5/6! I haven't been able to weigh last few days so hope I've been tracking reasonably accurately. Octopus I'm the same, I'd be eating more food if feeling low.

WellErrr · 03/02/2020 05:41

8st9.5 this morning.

Just over half a pound gained. It’s what I was expecting though :(
Onwards and downwards this week!!

Heygirlheyboy · 03/02/2020 06:52

It's still a great weight WellErr and you've got it under control. Will check in once I weigh later!

TheHoundsofLove · 03/02/2020 06:57

Half a pound is nothing Well - natural fluctuation could account for that.
I’m not going to weigh in this morning as know it will be bad news after this weekend...but I am back on the straight and narrow today. Good luck to everyone else though. 🤞

FlappyFish · 03/02/2020 07:10

I also struggle so much with period time. The week before I get the eat everything. Then I get the inevitable bloat and each month I gain half a stone through water retention. I know this happens but the effect it has makes me have what I see as two good weeks and two bad. Gaining weight through hormones makes me want to go screw it. That’s not helpful, I know that. But when you’re eating 1,200 a day and gain weight it messes with my head.

Patchworksack · 03/02/2020 07:23

9'6 for me today so a pound up, but I just started my period so it's to be expected. Sticking to the plan, I know I'll have a loss next week.

Heygirlheyboy · 03/02/2020 07:24

You'll come out the other side tho Flappy, hopefully pleasantly surprised! That's me this morning, we'll see!

Patchworksack · 03/02/2020 07:26

flappy fish several of us found some Youtube videos by Jordan Syett helpful on the last thread. He has one about patterns of loss and a other about why you sometimes gain even when sticking in calorie deficit. I think they are helpful to keep you hanging in there. He doesn't mention hormones (maybe he doesn't feel entitled to comment) but I'm sure we all know from experience they have a big effect. Try to look at the longer term trend and not be discouraged.

TheHoundsofLove · 03/02/2020 07:56

Flappy I was listening to a podcast recently (might have been James Smith) and he said that only dieting for 2 weeks of every month can be a really successful way of females losing weight. So diet for your 2 ‘good’ weeks and just aim to maintain for the other 2 weeks. It would take that bit longer but I thought it sounded like a really good idea.

Wineloffa · 03/02/2020 08:09

Morning! After my very over indulgent weekend, I’ve decided not to weigh myself this morning, I’ll do it tomorrow instead. A strict 1200 calorie day ahead plus a spin class later.

Happy Monday everyone!

Ps @Patchworksack I’ll always put on a pound or 2 during my period and find it impossible to lose weight. I think it’s water retention / bloat. So annoying.

Heygirlheyboy · 03/02/2020 08:10

Sugar, weighing scales doesn't work in accommodation here :( I will have to do tomorrow instead.

everycowandagain · 03/02/2020 10:05

I am back up a bit to 135 this morning (from 135.6 end of last week) but it's fair to say I had too much alcohol this weekend.

I actually don't feel like I have added back any body fat and I did do a weights workout and some bonus cardio yesterday so i expect the scales will come down again at some point.

Tracking EVERYTHING I eat from this morning as well. When I don't track it goes off plan!

Was going to do some HIIT today but I feel really tired, might take a rest day and get back on it tomorrow.

everycowandagain · 03/02/2020 10:06

*up to 135 from 133.6
