Cambridge Diet / 1:1 diet, anyone? 2020 targets?

Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

Thanks @Lostandfound101,
Appreciate your support and congratulations on your success so far. Fingers crossed for Wednesday 🤞

iSushi · 24/08/2020 00:03

@Presidentmr

Congrats on the weight loss so far! Do you mind if I ask what your expectations are?

Keep in mind that the big weight loss most people have in the first week is usually due to water weight. If you are already on a low calorie (and in turn low carb diet) then your weight loss may appear less in Week 1 then others. Plus people with a lot more to lose tend to lose more (i.e me...). So 3lbs a week is a great!

Hopefully by Weds you will have a bigger loss, but don't be disheartened if not.

FlatScreenTV01 · 30/08/2020 16:27

I have lost 78lb since 2nd May on 1:1 diet. I have 134lb to lose. I have a bar, step up meal, step up meal and a bar. 4 litres of water a day. I love it and feel so much better.

FlatScreenTV01 · 30/08/2020 16:30

People given up the plan or too busy to post?

Presidentmr · 30/08/2020 17:14

Hi there,

Still in the plan, only two weeks in but planning to stick with it.

I’m going to leave mumsnet though so best wishes to everyone.

iSushi · 01/09/2020 07:48

@Presidentmr Good luck!

@FlatScreenTV01 Congrats on and the amazing weight loss!

I think it is mainly the case that people have either reached their goals or that they no longer need as much support as they did before.

I started at the end of May and have lost 36lbs so far with another 34lbs to go. I am going to be taking a break once I reach the 3 stone mark to see if I can carry on losing weight without 1 to 1 diet.

Also my weight loss has slowed down to 1-2lbs a week, but I am happy with that. So there is less of the "wow I lost xx pounds this week".

I moved up to Step 4 mainly for my own sanity and to be able to stick to the diet, but also because I have started to go jogging.

I started C25k and for the first time ever I have jogged 5k without stopping!

But this also messes up with my weight loss on the scales (building muscle, water retention after exercises, etc.) so I have been less focused on that and happy as long as there is a loss each week and I am improving my fitness each week.

If new people start - happy to come on and give support, but I don't need it as much myself for the moment. How about you? I did have a thing before about feeling diahearted around the 2 stone mark that I felt like I had been doing it for so long, but hadn't even reached the half way mark. So I am just setting smaller goals.

First goal was to lose 38 lbs, which I have almost reached. Second goal is then 42lbs (ie 3 stone mark for personal kudos milestone). Third goal is to then lose another 2 stones. But while I do the above I want to improve my jogging speed / distance.

What I will say is that finding this thread played a huge role in me sticking to this in the first month and made it feel less lonely.

The only other alternative is the 1 to 1 Diet Facebook group, but that feels very cult like and most people just seem to post about their losses in the first week or progress pics... rather than support around day to day struggles.

iSushi · 18/09/2020 08:20

Hope everyone is still going strong or have reached their weight loss goals!

For those of us still going (ie had a lot to lose) it would be great to hear how you are doing. As mentioned in my earlier posts I have gone up to Step 4 now and still losing 1-3lbs a week.

I have been doing it for 16 weeks now and have lost 3 stones (42lbs)! So roughly 2.5lbs a week / 3 stones in 4 months.

I am sure I would have lost more if I stuck to 1 to 1 diet completely... but what I did worked for me and didn't feel overly difficult / restrictive. I also really thought I would have stopped by now... But I am in it for the long haul! I still need to lose another 2 stones to be at my ideal weight, but going to take it 1 stone at a time.

I am now going to go off the 1 to 1 diet for a few weeks as a break and see how I do with losing another stone on normal food and exercise alone. Being on this diet has really helped me to understand my portions, etc. and my consultant was amazingly supportive (and gave me a 1 to 1 diet mug for reaching my first goal).

Assuming all goes well - after losing a stone I will then go back to 1 to 1 diet to jump start my final weightloss goal.

What is great - as mentioned above I never thought I would be a jogger but I am now doing 5k jogs at least 3 times a week. So I am hoping this helps me to continue to lose weight despite extra calories from no longer being on diet.

What is a bit disappointing is that while I have lost loads of weight and inches... I have lost weight proportionally... which means that, while smaller, my stomach still looks the same! But I suppose that means that weight loss will start showing the most around my stomach as I lose my last 2 stones.

LostAndFound101 · 18/09/2020 12:23

Sounds good @iSushi. Well done on your weight loss! I am 5 and a half weeks in and lost 1st 2lb. Super happy. Moving to step 3 today. Want to lose about another 7lb and will then see what I want my target to be as this will get me to 10st 13lb. I've lost a staggering 13 inches all over!! There have been a few days of eating chocolate or something I fancied but I have otherwise been totally focused. Really enjoying it and finally have more energy.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/09/2020 12:17

Hey can I join?

I started on the 11th and lost 6lb on my first week but 6 stone to lose in total. Blush

Would love some company Grin

Zazu44 · 27/09/2020 09:40

Going to meet my consultant today! Excited and a bit nervous of spending that much money. Not good at sticking to diets but am fed up with not fitting into my clothes!
Any tips lovely ladies? X

LostAndFound101 · 27/09/2020 18:40

Drink lots of water and if on step 1 take things easy the first week in terms of exercise. I felt very lethargic and weak then from day 6 onwards got better. Took me about 2 weeks to adjust and not have any sugar cravings. It is worth the money. I'm 7lbs away from target, my wedding and engagement rings fit again and I feel so much healthier. I'm on step 3 now so introducing more food back in, finding it hard to finish a meal as my tummy has shrunk! Good luck x

Zazu44 · 27/09/2020 18:45

Ah thanks so much. Have chosen my 1st weeks food and starting tomorrow Smile

BananaHammock23 · 05/10/2020 09:56

Hi all - just thought I'd check in here to hold myself to account!! I started Cambridge last week after losing 2 stone on my own. I've got to get another 1.5 stone off before I can start IVF treatment (hopefully next month!). I'm on step 1, 4 products a day.

I found it so easy the first few days and was pretty full, but over the weekend I've found myself eating out every night. I've been sticking to two products a day but then going out for dinner in the evening... obviously this will affect my loss but gonna keep at it this week. I have exercised pretty intensely over the weekend too.

It seems like everyone has their own ways of 'doing' Cambridge. Like some people have a 'cheat day' once a week; others do step 2 a few days a week or whatever. I was thinking I would have a healthy meal on days I exercise (I do personal training session twice a week). How do you all do it?

LolaGrace · 18/10/2020 20:42

Hi all!

I'm 2 weeks in! Got weigh in Tuesday! Hoping for 3lbs this week. Lost 5lbs last week xxx

iSushi · 19/10/2020 21:26

@lolagrace That is great! Congrats!

Even if you don't get 3lbs - don't be disheartened. Any loss is a good loss and it all balances out over the weeks.

LolaGrace · 20/10/2020 08:28

Thanks!

Weigh day today and I'm nervous!

iSushi · 20/10/2020 18:48

@lolagrace How did it go?

Victory07 · 22/11/2020 18:48

Hi there all.. started my Cambridge diet on the 18th nov so only 5 days in. Lookingto lose 1.5 stone's. always been sceptical about diets as tried so many.. and for years though enoughs enough no more diet products. Ill do it all my healthy eating and exercise.

Problem with that was i fell of wagon so fast. I looove food.. eatting out.. and i hate exercise.
So during lockdown i saw 3 friends who lost soo much weight. I asked how and this diet was mentioned..so thought ok 1 more diet program.

So far so good.. loving the shakes. The porridges are good too, and meals i can handle.. all very fully.

I have been hungry at times. But i must say omg water helps. Iv been having 3lts a day.. yes i spend most of my day running to the bathroom..but well worth it.

Could not help myself to try a cheeky weight in.. to my surprise in 5 days im down 6lb ALREADY.. my week will be in 3 days.. so will update then.

Jazzy202 · 23/11/2020 23:56

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if it's okay to have a meal out with friends while on the 1:1 diet..

My friends are meeting up next week and I've just started this diet last week. I lost 5lbs..which I don't know if I'm happy about tbh 🙈
But I'd really love to meet up with my friends for dinner and we are planning on going to a Chinese restaurant ..

Don't know if it's okay to have a cheat meal.

I'm trying to lose weight for a wedding in March. Got 3 stones to go.

Please advise x

Alison1335 · 30/11/2020 19:59

I was told by my consultant you can have a step 2 day. Meals at chinese can be beef and mushroom, chicken and mushroom or chicken chop suey

Jazzy202 · 02/12/2020 21:07

Thank you @Alison1335 for getting back to me!
