Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

Out of interest what did you do bad on birthday week and still managed to have a loss? Iv got two birthdays coming up my daughter is 5 on Friday and my younger daughter is 3 next week, having some little tea partys but dreading the food, cake etc. Im going to try and stick to plan but know its going to be hard. X

DietQueen2020 · 08/07/2020 06:47

Breakfast lunch and dinner I went all out. Can't miss milestones. It was my grandma, cousins and boyfriends birthday that week too but I stuck to plan. Xxx

Caitlyn10 · 08/07/2020 07:55

Oh thats so good! You must have some willpower! X

iSushi · 08/07/2020 11:21

@DietQueen2020 Hope things have improved work wise. I can empathise slightly. I work supporting strategy / planning for health and care and have a big session / event soon that is taking up a lot of time (and some sleepless nights and stress) focusing on lessons, next steps, etc. In some ways it will most likely be more difficult going forward.

Risk of influx of people needing support that didn't access it during lockdown (incl. delayed appointments, etc.), numbers of people we would expect to access support, but haven't (where have they gone - how do we reach out to them), more acute issues as people were more hesitatent in accessing preventative support, wider determinants of health and wellbeing issues that will begin to have an impact...

All in the context of a workforce that is exhausted, less money (particularly for local authorities that are at risk of making lots of cuts in preventative services if they don't get support from Government), risks of future waves... and on top of the 'usual' winter pressures.

Doing my best not to comfort eat while sorting out the event, etc.

JamesZebra · 08/07/2020 13:31

has anyone switched to a different step? I think I have only lost 2lbs this week which doesn't seem much when i I have so much to lose and I am being so restrictive and expensive. I am just wondering if this is perhaps not the right step for me. How would I know?

iSushi · 08/07/2020 14:21

@JamesZebra It depends what your expectations are. 2lbs loss a week is great! I think there is usually a big loss in the first week or two and then 2-3lbs on average going forward as your body adjusts, etc. I have decided that I will be content with that and anything else is a bonus.

In terms of costs - I suppose that is up to you. For me, I know that I would have not been able to consistently lose weight over 6 weeks to date if I was solely focused on a balanced diet and exercise. Especially, when work goes hectic I tend to stop, but have managed to keep myself on track on 1 to 1.

You could try Step 2 (i.e. eating a 200 cal meal instead of a sachet I think) to save some money, but I you might risk slowing your weight loss further (i.e accidentally going over 200 calories)

DietQueen2020 · 08/07/2020 14:52

@isushi completely empathise lovely. It's a stressful time all round, especially for us health workers. Well don't for doing a remarkable job. I too have been tempted at times to order papa johns after a 13 hour shift ... especially nights. But know that this is the best plan for me and I'm sticking to it. Let's put ourselves and our health first and not give in to evil cravings. Xxx

JamesZebra · 08/07/2020 20:33

thanks Ishushi- just hard seeing people on the Facebook group who lose like 5lbs a week and by week 4 look totally different. I am at the end of week 3 and I can't really see any difference in the way that I look Sad

iSushi · 09/07/2020 08:11

@DietQueen2020 Thanks! We can do it!

@JamesZebra No worries! If I am honest, I always feel a bit weird about it too. I feel I don't actually look too different a month on especially since I still have a few stones to lose before I even reach a healthy BMI. I am fitter, clothes fit better, and if I zoom into my before and after picture I can see minor changes here and there.

But I think when you have a lot to lose... It is easy to just look at the mirror and think "I am still fat" - because the reality is we still are overweight.

I am not really expecting to look/feel hugely different until I reach losing 2-3 stones (i.e after 2-3 months on 1 to 1).

Hope that helps!

JamesZebra · 09/07/2020 12:50

thanks @iSushi its really helpful. I have to say being a part of this group and having extra support has made so much difference. I am really grateful as there have been so many kind and encouraging comments which have kept me going!
I had my weigh in today and lost another 4lbs which I am super happy about. That also pulls me into the 15stone bracket! I haven't been there for a long time! It's given me a massive boost to keep going Smile

JamesZebra · 09/07/2020 12:55

so far I have lost 12lbs

week 1 - 6lbs
week 2 -2 lbs
week 3 - 4lbs

iSushi · 09/07/2020 18:14

@JamesZebra That's a great weight loss! Congrats!

iSushi · 10/07/2020 08:30

Woo! Just weighed myself today and lost another 3lbs. Particularly happy as I had a really stressful week for an event and have not been walking as much (for me busy usually equals spending 12+ hours a day at my laptop). So 1st 8lbs lost so far!

@DietQueen2020 Snap!

Week 1 - 9lbs
Week 2 - 3lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 2lbs
Week 5 - 3lbs
Week 6 - 3lbs

DietQueen2020 · 10/07/2020 08:53

@iSushi love love love. Well done lovely your smashing it ❤️

Caitlyn10 · 10/07/2020 11:04

Well done both of you thats amazing!

iSushi · 10/07/2020 20:45

Thanks @DietQueen2020 and @Caitlyn10!

This is the most I have consistently lost in the last couple of years. I normally get to this point and then stop when work gets crazy. So it feels great that my willpower is still going strong!

DietQueen2020 · 11/07/2020 08:16

Week 7 weigh in ... 3lbs off 🙌 just another 3lbs to go till I get my 2 stone.
@JamesZebra I have taken my full length mirror down because I find that is the most discouraging Thing about weight loss. Not seeing results straight away. It works because I feel great focusing on the numbers on the scale and the inches coming off. Forget the mirror and focus on how your feeling and the great results each week xxx
