Cambridge Diet / 1:1 diet, anyone? 2020 targets?

Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

@DietQueen2020 That's is amazing!!! Way to go!

I also feel the same way. Much better to focus on the numbers going down!

JamesZebra · 12/07/2020 15:01

Really encouraging to hear how well you are all getting on. I'm hoping for 2lbs this week and that will be 1st in 4 weeks. Was a bit naughty last night, dp got a kebab and chips so I did nick a couple of chips but only 3 or 4.
Today hes been eating KFC and I didn't touch it. Its really hard to be good when he eats junk all day long. I've tried to convince him to cook or eat better choices but he isnt interested at the moment.

JamesZebra · 16/07/2020 15:11

Heya, how is everyone getting on this week? Only a -2lb loss for me this week, Think I really need to up my water intake and hopefully next week will be better, but it's still a loss Smile That means I have now lost 1stone which is exciting! I am chomping my way through this stone bracket.....really want to get down to the 14's- haven't been there for a long time!
Hope everyone else is doing ok?

iSushi · 17/07/2020 08:59

Woo! Lost another 3lbs this week so only another 3lbs before I reach the two stone mark. Also just reached the next stone bracket down so feel great!

@DietQueen2020Snap!

@JamesZebra 2lbs is a great loss! No "only" about it. Congrats on reaching the 1 stone mark and persevering!

Really surprised that I lost 3lbs because I had some slips ups over the course of the week and didn't do any of my daily walks during the weekdays. Partly celebrating some good news. Partly from being exhausted by work (crash after the busyness of last week and then picking up on all the day to day work that had built up).

I think it was counteracted by the long walks I did over the weekend (8 miles on Sat and 3 miles on Sun) and I did better with my meals then I thought I did.

Week 1 - 9lbs
Week 2 - 3lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 2lbs
Week 5 - 3lbs
Week 6 - 3lbs
Week 7 - 3lbs

iSushi · 17/07/2020 09:00

@DietQueen2020 Snap!

DietQueen2020 · 17/07/2020 10:50

@iSushi SNAP!!! Well done lovely!!!
I have too lost another 3lb and have got my 2 stone in 2 months!!! Yayyyyy.
I'm cutting my hair for the little princess trust this morning. Live streamed. Sooo nervous. 😂 xxx

JamesZebra · 17/07/2020 11:12

@iSushi thats amazing!!!! well done!

JamesZebra · 17/07/2020 11:15

@DietQueen2020 wow 2 stone in 2 months. That's amazing!!!! I am going to try on bridesmaid dresses next weekend which is super scary for me. I don't do dresses. I am just hoping and praying I don't look like a potato in a dress!

iSushi · 17/07/2020 12:36

@DietQueen2020 That is amazing! Hope the hair cutting went well and you have some snazzy short hair (or is it completely being cut off?).

Also congrats on reaching the 2 stone mark (in 2 months is an incredible bonus!). That is a great result!

@JamesZebra Thanks! Hope it goes well. Remember and you lose some more pounds before the wedding itself.

Poundstolose · 17/07/2020 14:40

Hey all, could i join please im on day 3 need to shred 3 stones need some motivitation. Blush

EBM22 · 17/07/2020 15:34

Hey! I’m on day 3 too! I’m on the solo source and finding it tough! What step are you on? The shakes and soups are nice but the meals aren’t great are they?! Going to try and stick to it though I have 5 stone to lose!!!

DietQueen2020 · 17/07/2020 16:54

@isuahi it's a very short bob. I love it though. 17 inches of hair gone to make a wig for a child with cancer so deffo worth it.
Hey newbies, welcome. It is tough the first 5 days then the hunger goes and it's a piece of cake ... maybe not the right thing to say 😂 but just me it gets easier. And it goes so quick. I have today lost 2 stone in 2 months and can't believe where the time has gone. Best diet ever. It actually works. Xxx

DietQueen2020 · 17/07/2020 16:57

@JamesZebra thank you lovely and you are deffo not going to look like a potato!!! When is the wedding? Be carful because you don't want to buy and dress and then in however many months time it will be too big xxx

JamesZebra · 17/07/2020 20:01

@DietQueen2020 the wedding isn't for ages yet so loads of time to lose weight, I just don't really do dresses. Since putting weight on I have lost a lot of confidence. Think the bride just wants to sort the colour of the dresses so she can get start making table decs and stuff.......she has a very specific colour pallet in mind so she wants to make sure it suits us all. In one breath I am excited and the next I am dreading it.

Poundstolose · 18/07/2020 15:43

@34EBM22 im having sole source. I have a mixture if shakes porridge n bars. I feel so bloated drinking water but its the sparkling kind so not sure its that

iSushi · 19/07/2020 14:15

@DietQueen2020 I'm sure you look great and definitely worth it given the cause (what a great idea for people to do as their first haircut during lockdown)!

Welcome @Poundstolose and @EBM22! More the merrier! This forum has been great for keeping me motivated and less isolated about doing the 1 to 1 Diet.

I am on Step 1b on 4 shakes a day (but if I am honest during the week I move between Step 1b, Step 2 when I need a break and Step 3 on Sat as my cheat day). I have written a few pages back about what works for me and there are a loads tips from others.

@Poundstolose Yeah, I did feel very bloated at the start, but remember to spread the water drinking throughout the day and aim for at least 2.5-3ltrs a day. You get use to it and it goes away.

@EBM22 Its strange at first I loved the pasta based meals just because it felt like a meal (I also normally love having bread with soup so decided to not have it to begin with). But after multiple weeks the option of variety helps loads. I now quite like porridge, soups and bars when I first didn't think they would be for me.

I am at the 7 week mark at the moment.

Newme2016 · 19/07/2020 23:32

Hi all,

Well done on all your weight losses, you are all doing great!

Just thought I should update you on how things are going with me. I started the diet on the 20th April, well on the 18th July I have lost 3 stone!

Very, very happy. I have got 1 stone 9lbs to go now.

It’s been hard, but I have just kept going. I have been very determined that this weight is going once and for all, fed up messing around with trying for a week then it all going to pot.

Keep going everyone, I feel amazing already. I can’t imagine what I will be like when I hit target!

iSushi · 20/07/2020 07:25

@Newme2016 Great to hear from you again - That is great news! Congrats on sticking to it! 3 stones in 3 months is amazing!

Out of curiosity, do you have a plan in place for transitioning out of 1 to 1 diet? Will you be going up through all the steps?

If I am honest - to get to my healthy weight range I would need to lose another 4 stones... As much as I love the weight loss so far the idea of doing it for that long is not something I am looking forward to...

I have been thinking of going to Step 2 properly after I reach the 2 stone mark to lose the third stone.

And then Step 3 to lose the remaining 3 stones over a longer period of time.

It would be great to hear what other people have planned.

Newme2016 · 20/07/2020 11:33

I am thinking of keeping to step 2 till I am at target, then moving onto step 4 after that. I would like to lose another 1/2 stone or so after I reach target.

After I am happy where I am, I am going to do 5:2 to maintain. I think this will work for me.

You must do what works for you, you know your lifestyle and your body best.

JamesZebra · 20/07/2020 11:36

I too am wondering about transitioning onto other steps and how easy it is to maintain the weight loss.
I can just about see myself sticking on 1b for 12 weeks- I'd really like to shift 3 stone. That would put me just over half way on my journey and then like you @iSushi I plan to lose the remaining 2 stone a little bit slower on a different step.

DietQueen2020 · 25/07/2020 22:46

Weigh in today / another 3lbs lost. Woohoo. Interesting to hear about people's thoughts on transitioning into other steps.
@Newme2016 congrats on your 3 stone. That is frigging amazing. You will hit target in no time but you already know that.
That's one of the things I love about this diet is that the weight comes off so quick and before you realise if your half way to your goal.
Keep up the great work everyone xxx

Blueboing101 · 27/07/2020 15:16

Hi all,
I have been on and off CD for 4 years now. When motivated I have done really well, loosing 3.5 stone getting down to bmi of 24. Currently bmi is verging on 30😬So back to it for me! I am aiming for 2 stone weight loss. I find day times no problem as busy at work but evenings are a killer for me! Any tips would be great (other than resorting to bed at 8 so I’m away from the kitchen)!

TheTravellingLemon · 28/07/2020 22:54

Hello, I joined on the 1st June and I've lost 2 st 2lbs so far. Another 3 st to go, so it feels a long way off still.

@Blueboing101 the evenings are also my danger zone, but I dont think you're going to like how I cope! Grin I'll write out a typical day for you.

In the morning I have a cup of decaf black coffee. At 12.30 I have a mint tea and a litre of water. At 3.30 I have a shake, another hot drink and another litre of water. Then i have a big dinner in the evening with another litre of water. Tonight I had the mac and cheese, i added paprika and chilli flakes and some chicken and broccoli. Then about half an hour later a bar. I hope that helps, I'm not naturally hungry in the mornings, so this works for me, but i can appreciate it wouldn't be for everyone and I am cold and grumpy by the time I eat my feast Blush.

Blueboing101 · 28/07/2020 23:16

Thanks for this. I’ll give it a go. I force the shake down in the morning but don’t really feel I need it then. Good to know you struggle with evenings. I honestly resort to being totally antisocial and going to bed early with a rumbly tummy! Not good.

iSushi · 02/08/2020 12:09

Congrats to the success people continue to have and welcome to the new faces!

I have decided to go up a step and have had a few off days these past two weeks that impacted my weight loss (friend's big birthday, new nephew being born and coming back from the hospital a week later healthy and well after some minor concerns and Eid this weekend).

But I am happy that I have officially lost 2 stones and it is only now that I feel the really difference in terms of fitness, how my clothes fit, body (particularly my face). I saw a friend for the first time since lockdown and the first thing she noticed was how much weight I had lost - which felt good.

But I know that I am only half way through my weight loss journey.

Week 1 - 9lbs
Week 2 - 3lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 2lbs
Week 5 - 3lbs
Week 6 - 3lbs
Week 7 - 3lbs
Week 8 - 1lbs
Week 9 - 2lbs

Still a long way to go, but I am happy as long as I am moving in the right direction (although was a bit disappointed that I missed out losing 2 stones in 8 weeks... but I am still counting it... started on Fri 29 May and lost 2 stones by Weds 29 Jul).

I have a week off work now and really looking forward to cycling outdoors and building up my fitness beyond my long walks... (8-10 miles on weekends and 2-5 miles on weekdays).

Hopefully, the thunderstorms stop and dry up soon!
