Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

Hi @JamesZebra well done on the 6lbs loss already
If you feeling a bit weak you may need to add a product or some calories ( energy) as it could be low blood sugar
I'm only on day 5 and managing but felt a bit dizzy when I was doing some strenuous exercise yesterday
Keep at it , good luck for weigh in

Cleo2017 · 30/06/2020 15:31

Hi James - can be disheartening when feeling a bit under the weather with it - don’t do anything strenuous today and drink lots of water - I occasionally have 3 almonds which seems to help a bit. Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow

JamesZebra · 30/06/2020 22:52

I popped up to our allotment this evening with the kids. Nothing too strenuous, just pottering around and tidying up. The fresh air helps.

Sometimes i find it really hard to have 4 products. Life is so busy I genuinely don't have time to eat and the products keep me full for ages but I have been having really bad dizzy spells so perhaps I need to make an effort to ensure I am having 4. I have been really impressed with how filling the meals are- this comes from someone who could easily sink a whole pizza from dominoes with wedges and chicken strips! I had an enormous apatite!

it's weigh in day tomorrow so I am hoping I see at least a small loss on the scales. My clothes are looser so thats good.

Thanks for the nice comments. I will update tomorrow :)

Caitlyn10 · 01/07/2020 08:23

Sounds lovely @JamesZebra. Fresh air definatly helps. I find they keep me going and takes away that sicky hunger feeling. I struggled on only 3 products a day though and find 4 is much better for me.
Oh don't mention dominoes 😭🙈

Thats great your clothes are feeling looser such a great feeling! Well done im sure you will have a good loss tomorrow, cant wait to hear. 😊

Cleo2017 · 01/07/2020 09:01

Yes great you are feeling a bit better. I too am on 4 a day and do feel fine on that - it may take me a bit longer to loose the weight but hopefully it will all come off in the end - good luck with the weigh in tomorrow

JamesZebra · 01/07/2020 13:11

Just thought I would update, -2bs today

I am ok with that, I would have liked to get down into the next stone bracket but hey ho, its still all going in the right direction. Thats 8lbs off in 2 weeks Smile if I lose 3lbs next week I will be down in the next stone bracket which i haven't seen for ages!

How is everyone else getting on today?

Jannyapple66 · 01/07/2020 17:22

Well done @JamesZebra every pound counts and if you think about holding a full bag of sugar in your hand ... 2 lb is fab

Caitlyn10 · 01/07/2020 18:17

Thats great well done!

Cleo2017 · 01/07/2020 19:40

Well done James - 2lbs is great - I will be happy with a steady 2lbs per week - slow and steady wins the race (or something to that effect🤣🤣

isthatthesummerover · 02/07/2020 09:15

Can I ask for a bit of advice
Started 1:1 Friday .. 100% on SS plan
Minimum 3 L fluid daily
Weight daily since
Day 1 down 1.5
Day 2 down 3
Day 3 down 4.5
Day 4 5 and 6 no change
Tomorrow should be my first weekly weigh in and I think I'm going to be so disappointed ?

Dontstepinthecowpat · 02/07/2020 12:22

Sorry I’m just back to update weigh in for first week was on Tuesday and I lost 8lbs so was absolutely delighted! Been 100% this week so far and plan on sticking to it despite it being my birthday tomorrow. Keeping active too.

Summer over do you mean youve lost 4.5lb or 9lb? If 4.5 are you constipated (sorry but it does happen) either way the way I’m thinking if you can’t eat this little and not lose it so if it’s not this week it will be next week! If it’s 9lbs then that’s amazing.

isthatthesummerover · 02/07/2020 12:39

@Dontstepinthecowpat hi
No it's 4.5 total really don't get how in 3 days of 600 cals and active at work I can stay exactly the same ( not constipated, know what you mean lol )
I've lost more doing SW on my first week where I've ate loads
Maybe something miraculous will happen by tomorrow morning and there will be a loss . 100% on plan again today so we shall see

isthatthesummerover · 02/07/2020 12:40

@Dontstepinthecowpat apologies !
Fantastic loss for you . That's so motivating , well done Smile

Cleo2017 · 02/07/2020 18:22

I lost 5lb the first week and thinking only a couple this week - but it’s heading in the right direction and I’m not hungry 😋 which I a bonus - stay positive with lots calarie intake if it doesn’t happen this week it will at some point for sure xx

Cleo2017 · 02/07/2020 18:22

Low not lots

Dontstepinthecowpat · 02/07/2020 20:22

Fingers crossed for tomorrow summerover! Maybe you will have a ‘woosh’ overnight.

isthatthesummerover · 02/07/2020 20:39

Ooooooo I'd love a whoosh overnight
Fingers crossed @Dontstepinthecowpat

JamesZebra · 02/07/2020 23:15

I'd like a whoosh too Grin

Caitlyn10 · 03/07/2020 07:05

Well done on the losses everyone !
I'm on day 11 feeling like a routine now dont think about food much, keeping busy! Can't wait for weigh in on Monday! Feel quite tired all the time but that may just be the kids tiring me out as per! Hope everyone's having a good week 😁

isthatthesummerover · 03/07/2020 07:29

So .... a small whoosh lol
Total for first week on 1:1 was 6lbs
Onwards and downwards Smile and next week will be down to 11 something so I'm grateful for that too ... unless I fuck it all up of course , which I won't
Confused

iSushi · 03/07/2020 09:45

Great to hear about all the progress people are making and to see the thread this active!

It's been a busy week so haven't had a chance to come on here.

Just had week 5 weigh in and lost 3lbs! Given that I was happy for it to be a steady 1-2lbs loss after the first month - feels like a nice surprise!

iSushi · 03/07/2020 09:56

@isthatthesummerover Forgot to mention. I made the same mistake early on of measuring myself more than once a week (I did a post a few pages back). My advice is don't!

The same thing happened to me where I had lost a couple of pounds within the first 3 days and was really upbeat that I was going to have a huge weight loss that week... Then I checked myself on weigh in day again and it was exactly the same - and left me feeling down. Rather than celebrating that I had lost weight this week I ended up focusing on not losing weight in the previous few days.

I spent way too much time researching and keto, water weight, whoosh effect, etc. When the reality is that I continued to lose weight each week.

So after 5 weeks I have lost 19lbs so far.

JamesZebra · 03/07/2020 11:08

Isushi - what have you lost each week out of interest?

I am struggling with this week. I don't feel like I am really losing much and it's quite hard. I am on step 1b and feel dizzy a lot. My consultant told me that I am not drinking enough but it feels like no matter how much I drink I am still dizzy and quite weak. I am wondering if this is just too low cal for my body?
I am going to get some Iron later and see if this helps as I really struggle with anemia. Really hoping it gives me a boost.

Has anyone else had the dizziness and feel weak? I am on week 3 now.

iSushi · 03/07/2020 22:52

@JamesZebra I lost
Week 1 - 9lbs
Week 2 - 3lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 2lbs
Week 5 - 3lbs

While I am on Step 1b I do the following (as I know I am not in keto):

  • Sat is a cheat day (still have a shake for breakfast and lunch and then a healthier version of a treat meal in the evening).
  • Once a week I have a meal staying under 200 calories when temptation is a little too strong (mainly on days that are hectic... and food is looking particularly nice at home).
  • Adding boiled mushrooms, peppers and spinach and half a bag of plain mixed salad when I have the meal sachets (e.g. soups or the pasta sachets) to make them more filling.
  • Using around 400ml water for the shakes with 6 or so ice cubes (I also tend to add decaf or normal coffee to chocolate, vanilla and cappachino shakes).
  • 2 cups of coffee/tea a day.

I also tend to

  • Go for shorter walks in the evenings (2-3 miles) and longer walks on the weekend (5-10 miles).
  • Drink 600ml glass of water with my meal and try to have another glass between meals. So I at least have 3 litres of water a day.

Not exactly Step 1b, but I am content as it seems to work for me. I know I could lose more if I strictly stuck with the 1 to 1 diet, but it would impact me too much emotionally and there is a risk I would just quit or binge eat (i.e. feeling of missing out on Sat family meals, feeling like I am depriving myself, being hard on myself for when I would slip up, etc.).

Early on when I first started I felt a little weak/tired and the odd moment here and there, but that should just be temporary. Definitely should not be happening in Week 3 consistently (unless you were on Step 1a and in ketosis, ate something that took you out of ketosis and having to go through carb withdrawals again).

I hate to repeat what your consultant said... But are you drinking 2.5-3 litres a day minimum? I know before you said you struggled with drinking water, but it is a necessity to be drinking that much at least.

JamesZebra · 04/07/2020 15:45

thank isushi. thats really helpful.

I am drinking 3l of water a day. Still very dizzy but not quite so bad today. I have been to my allotment and the fresh air was lovely. going to have a nice quiet afternoon as I am quite tired now, although I slept really well last night and my boyfriend said my snoring is much better than it has been so thats good. Also saw my mum today and she said how good I am looking so it's nice that people are starting to notice.

I will be vigilante with the water
