Cambridge Diet / 1:1 diet, anyone? 2020 targets?

Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

Hey lovelies, how is everyone doing??? Im now on day 8 and after 1 week I have lost 6lb!!! Yipeee over the moon.

@lardass88, I completely empathise with the hunger part though my physical hunger stopped day 5. Now I just crave certain savoury things every now and then but that's becoming less and less too.
I'm back at work Monday and have been redeployed to the designated covid ward so a bit nervous how I'm gonna cope with so little calories but fingers crossed 🤞 all will be well.
Look forward to hearing more fabulous loses from you guys soon xxx

lardass88 · 30/05/2020 21:54

Hello lovely. I've just finished day 3 and not doing too bad. Woke up craving thick buttery bread 🤤 but other than that not anything else. I'm going to see if I can change some of the sachets tho cos a few literally made me want to vomit

iSushi · 31/05/2020 11:06

Glad to find this post! I just started 1:1 diet and on Day 3 today on Step 1b (for shakes/bars/smoothies/meals) a day aiming to lose at least 3 stones.

Luckily, it has not been too bad so far and I have managed to resist cheating (just a small bite of plain chicken) - a huge feat as Saturday night is normally when family have a big meal (it was pizza this time...).

I went on the Cambridge Diet 9 years ago and lost 4 stones, but slowly gained it back on with terrible work/life balance (long commutes to work and longer hours). With it being lockdown still (and my workplace most likely letting us work from home for at least another month) I thought this would be the only time I could do this diet again without the extra pressure of being physically in work.

The options are a lot more varied now! Although I still do not like the bars... (too chewy and dry). I was going to rely on the shakes, but the macaroni and cheese tasted better than I thought it would so I will ask to exchange the bars to try more of the meals.

One thing that feels different (better) is that I remember having terrible headaches and carb withdrawals the first time I did Cambridge Diet, which I assume was when I was entering ketosis. This hasn't happened this time... Doing a quick check I am having anywhere between 85-120g carbs (carb amounts differ for each sachet with Chocolate and Caramel shake having the most with 30g). Looking online it says you need to be around 50g a day of carbs to enter ketosis (with each person being different).

I know that 1:1 diet has distanced itself from causing ketosis and focusing on it being low calorie diet. I am not sure how to feel about this... it is feels a lot more accessible than the first time, but in the back of my mind wonder if my weight loss will be impacted by not being in ketosis.

It would be great to hear other people's thoughts.

DietQueen2020 · 31/05/2020 12:00

@lardass88 OMG buttered bread ... just don't 😂 which meals made you want to vomit? I was ok with them all but my favs are spicy couscous, Thai curry noodles and the spaghetti bolognese 😋

Hey @iSushi, I love the variety too. And same here with the bars, they are too sticky for me and takes ages to get off my teeth 😂 the only bar I do like is the peanut crunch. Tastes just like snickers 😋.
And as for Ketosis I do believe that I am in Ketosis as if I wasn't I would be sooo hungry all the time. The only time I'm not hungry is when I'm in Ketosis. But who knows - people are still losing around a stone a month on the 1:1 so I guess it hasn't impacted others weight losses.
Xxx

lardass88 · 31/05/2020 13:33

Haha sorry .. don't like any of the soups, and the apple and cinnamon porridge was a bit 🤢 but I quite like the bars and smoothies so will carry on with that. What step are you both on @iSushi @DietQueen2020

DietQueen2020 · 31/05/2020 13:44

@lardass88 the apple and cinnamon porridge is my fav, just as well for the variety as we all have such different tastes!!!
I'm on step1B (4 meal replacements a day) because I'm on antibiotics. When I finish antibiotics I can go to 1A but I'm loving the 4 a day. Plus I'm just on the height cusp at 5ft7 so think I will carry on with step 1B.

lardass88 · 31/05/2020 15:04

I'm on 1a. Three thingies a day. It's hardcore!

DietQueen2020 · 31/05/2020 17:49

We can do it!!! First two weeks of any diet is the hardest. Once we're passed that we're on a home run 💪 xxx

lardass88 · 31/05/2020 17:56

Really shaky and feel starving ! When does it get easier?

iSushi · 31/05/2020 22:49

@lardass88 3 shakes is hardcore... hang in there! Like @DietQueen2020 I am on Step 1b {4 meals}, which seems okay so far physically with the usual struggles of resisting temptation.

Has anyone tried adding low carb veg to their meals to make it a little more filling and if so did it impact their weight loss? I am really tempted to add spinach or mushrooms, etc.

iSushi · 31/05/2020 22:55

@DietQueen2020 Glad I am not the only one who doesn't like the bars! Based on what you have said though I will give the peanut crunch a try!

And you are right. Weight loss is weight loss whether it is in ketosis or not.

Newme2016 · 01/06/2020 11:25

Keep going everyone it’s so worth it!

I lost another 2 this week, a little disappointed but it’s a loss. So that’s 24lbs in 6 weeks.

Want to get another 11lbs off by the end of the month, that’s my first target. Then I will just keep going till I feel happy. I should say I still have a another few stone to go after this. Not decided on my final target yet.

I like the bars, you actually get to chew. I like the strawberry and apple best. Have you tried the mint bites? I like these too and the salted Carmel bites. Also, my favourite is definitely the ready made chocolate shake, I keep them in the fridge so they are nice and cool.

Keep strong everyone and don’t cheat, it’s not worth it. It does get easier as you get into it. I don’t think about food now, and I am still cooking for a family.

Take care everyone!

lardass88 · 01/06/2020 12:46

Yesterday was my worse day so far. But woke up this morning feeling positive .. didn't have my first product till around 11am and it was the mint bites- they are lovely! I like the bars because it feels like I'm actually having a meal rather than a drink ( smoothies). going to try the macaroni cheese for tea - not had much luck with the meals so far so we shall see! I've already drank my massive bottle of water so on to the next one. Looking forward to weigh day on Wednesday 🤞🏻 ( still dreaming of warm thick crusty bread with butter tho 😂)

iSushi · 01/06/2020 15:53

@Newme2016 That sounds amazing! Congrats! That's a great loss in 6 weeks! I might give the bites a try.

I like the chocolate shake as well. Sometimes I add coffee and ice for a mock iced mocha.

@lardass88 You can do it! It's almost Weds! I enjoyed the macaroni and cheese just to eat something warm.

lardass88 · 01/06/2020 16:48

@iSushi nope. Not keen on the macaroni cheese 😆

iSushi · 01/06/2020 22:32

@lardass88 Sorry to hear that! I suppose the first week or two is all about finding which ones you can enjoy. I made the mistake of being too restrictive in my selection for the first week based on past experience.

For the second week I am going to try at least one of everything to see what works for me.

lardass88 · 02/06/2020 12:03

Yeah I did that. Just ordered things I assumed I'd like and not try anything a bit different. This weeks order I'm going to include some shakes and some things I've not tried before. Just having the oriental chilli soup for lunch ..... and I like it! 😆weigh day tomorrow for me 😬

lardass88 · 03/06/2020 08:48

Ok so first weigh in and I lost half a stone! Very pleased with that. So I celebrated by having 5 pringles, a cracker, a baby tomato and a slice of cheese haha. Soooo nice to eat 😆 better than what I would have done previously where I'd have a cheat day and eat anything in sight.
Back on plan now .. am dreaming of losing another half a stone next week but we shall see x hope everyone is well x

DietQueen2020 · 03/06/2020 19:51

Hey Lovelies, sorry I've been quiet a few days. I'm currently back at work on the covid ward at my hospital and its been cray!!! Had a lovley day off today but a bit concerned as I have not drunk hardly anything on my two shifts and have another two shifts tomorrow and friday. Got on the scale this morning and weight is the same so must be retaining water as have stuck to it 100% Just praying when I way in Saturday I will have had a whoosh effect

@Newme2016 OMG congrats that is amazing. You must be super chuffed.

@lardass88 well done for losing that first half stone. Its so worth it when you see amazing loses like that on the scale.

@iSushi Thats what I did my first week, tried all the meals to see what I liked and surprisingly all the ones I thought I would'nt like as much I love.

SpiritEssence · 05/06/2020 12:51

Hi everyone I start this on monday and need to lose 6 stone. Have all my food just come today and starting on 1b. Any tips please as I'm excited but nervous

lardass88 · 05/06/2020 13:33

@SpiritEssence I'm only on my second week so not much advice to offer.. but my first week as hard! Listen to your body if you are feeling rough .. I was quite lucky , I only had mild headaches as I made sure I drank 3 ltrs a day, I did feel weak and shaky but I lay down and dozed off needed till it shifted. Deffo buy some of the water flavourings, especially the veg one.. tastes like a cuppa soup and sorts you out if you're feeling a bit iffy, make sure you drink. You WILL be hungry.. but just ride it out. When I'm feeling a bit like oh god I can't do this I go onto YouTube and watch videos of people who have done it for a bit of inspiration. Good luck x

lardass88 · 05/06/2020 13:34

@DietQueen2020 thanks lovely. You're doing great! ❤️

DietQueen2020 · 05/06/2020 15:10

Hey @SpiriEssence - I was in the same boat as you. Had 6 stone to lose. I lost the 1st 8 pounds by myself Then started 1:1 and first week lost 6lb. I've got my second week weigh in tomorrow. Praying I've lost as I'm retaining water atm from Sweating so much and not drinking enough at work I think.
Most people lose around a stone per month on soul source. I'm on 1B step too. We can do this!!! Xxx
