Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

I found day 3 the worse. Felt awful. I definitely have more energy this week-when I walk the dog I am going further and further. I lost 7lbs in my first week which I was pleased with. Forgot to say another tip : get a variety of the products, don't assume because you like something off the diet that you'll like the product version. I've had a lot of trouble with the meals 😆 but next weeks order I've gone for different things :)

DietQueen2020 · 05/06/2020 15:14

@lardass88 I do the exact same thing as you 😂 watch YouTube videos and read blogs of people who have lost loads. Keeps me going. I will say though that after two weeks now I'm not hungry anymore at all. I've had no side effects either.

lardass88 · 05/06/2020 15:16

@DietQueen2020 god - I'm still hungry!! Craving veg and meat now 😂 can't wait for the hunger to go x

SpiritEssence · 05/06/2020 15:28

Thanks everyone it sounds your doing amazing. Is there any facebook support groups to as feel I'm going to need it Grin I'm a bad water drinker but will going to give it ago worked that work as cant go pee all the time lol

lardass88 · 05/06/2020 15:45

There probably are but I'm not on Facebook or instagram so can't help much there I'm afraid.
I was a rubbish water drinker but I bought a massive bottle and try to get through 2 of them a day - yes you are weeing a lot but it really helps with the hunger and you will feel thirsty x

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 05/06/2020 20:27

I’ve been lurking but thanks for the link lardass, I’ve been on Exante for 2 weeks now and I was struggling a bit today but watching those videos has made me much more motivated. Glad I didn’t blip now.

iSushi · 05/06/2020 23:00

@SpiritEssence Congrats on taking the first step!

I have just started my second week. I lost 9lb on my first week and 5 inches from my body (3 inches from my waist!).

You will be tired at first, but try and stick with it. Try and keep distracted during the day. Luckily, I work from home in a busy job so usually do not have time to think about food as much.

Finally, sleep! Wake up a bit later and sleep a bit earlier. You will feel more rested and less likely to give into temptation.

In terms of practical tips:

  • Use a blender for the shakes as otherwise it feels powdery to me.
  • I use about 380ml of water in the shakes with ice to bring it up to 400ml to fill me up.
  • To keep track of the amount of water I drink I measure how much is in my largest cup (600ml). As a minimum I have a meal and slowly drink the water until it is time for the next meal and repeat. That way I easily drink 3ltrs a day.
  • If you like coffee I add it to the chocolate and vanilla shakes in the morning.
  • Aim for variety. Try a mix of things the first week or two and remember what you enjoy the most so you can get some variety (I thought I would hate the meals but enjoy the Pesto and macaroni and cheese).
  • Use the cooker for the meals instead of a microwave. That way you can make sure it is ready and get a consistency you like.
  • Drink a lot of water with the bars.
  • If you are really struggling... I added some low carb fruits to my banana or strawberry shakes. I have also added boiled spinach to my meals to make them a little more filling.
  • Walk and listen to a good podcast for exercise... in case you slip up.

Most of all... Do not worry too much. It is better to have a tiny bite of chicken to get you through the day then risk falling off the bandwagon altogether. If you need to eat something else - as a last resort make sure it is less than 200 calories and low carb and low in fat. Not ideal, but if it gets you through the week than at least the damage is limited.

Campervan69 · 05/06/2020 23:54

Hi all. Popping back on this thread.

I started the Cambridge diet before lockdown and lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. Then my mother in law died and we were locked down..... went off track.

Started again last week and find it fantastic. With eating food diets I always eat too much. Or underestimate calories.

I have a shake for breakfast to which I add ice, lots of water, blueberries and raspberries. Makes 2 big glasses of delicious smoothie. Then a soup for lunch with a punnet of cherry tomatoes and some lean meat or fish. Then another massive smoothie for tea. I am also loving the raspberry sorbet flavouring which you can make sweets with or add to iced water which is delicious.

I'm 7lbs down as of this morning. I really want to lose about another 10 pounds so my weight loss is going to be slow really now I'm aiming for 2 pounds a week and I do allow myself a cheat day which was today after weigh in where I had fish chips and mushy peas. Was delicious.

SpiritEssence · 06/06/2020 00:25

I sushi Thankyoi so much and congrats on your weight loss. I'm keen to add fruits to.my milkshakes. Would frozen fruit be ok so I dont get tempted to eat a whole pungent Grin and I'll get some chicken in just incase. Will order a blender of amazon. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Campervan great tips thankyou very much. Congrats on your weight loss to.

Thanks everyone I feel a bit more better about this now. Will let u know how it goes. I start Monday as just finishing what I have left in fridge Smile

DietQueen2020 · 06/06/2020 07:11

Drum roll ...... week 2 weigh in and I lost 2lb. Not as much as I hoped BUT. 8lb in two weeks is not bad. Hoping for a bigger loss next week.
Have lost 3 inches from bust 3inches of waist and 3 inches of hips in total. Very pleased about that xxx

lardass88 · 06/06/2020 08:35

Hi everyone, good to see some new faces! I need all the support I can get. I'm really struggling.. just so bloody hungry and not particularly enjoying the products. I'm on day 9 (I think) and lost 8lbs so far, I know its early days. Just craving meat and veg 😂 but also desperate to lose weight fast :/

iSushi · 06/06/2020 11:40

@lardass88 Hang in there! You can do it! Also thanks for the video blog suggestion. I wish I found that earlier.

@DietQueen2020 That is an amazing loss! 9 inches across your body is fantastic! Hopefully, Week 3 is better, but try not to get disheartened if not. As long as you are losing inches. You seem on track to lose a stone in a month, which is great!

@SpiritEssence No worries! Hope what has been working for me helps for you. If you have a shake/meal/bar you hate and you have more of them ask your consultant if you can swap them for something else. They should usually be fine with that.

I do a handful of frozen mixed berries, but only do it when I feel like I need it. Are you on Step 1a (3 meals) or Step 1b (4 meals)? If you are on Step 1a you will most likely go into ketosis as it is very low carbs so having extras might kick you out of it.

I am on Step 1b and think that the meals are low carb, but not low enough to be on ketosis, which is why I do not mind adding low cal/carb frozen fruit to shakes and spinach to meals every now and again. As long as I am losing a couple of pounds a week I will be happy.

Whatever you do. Just be honest with your consultant and yourself.

@Campervan69 I'm really sorry to hear that and hope you and your family are doing better now

I completely agree about the diet. With normal diets I do well for a few days, but would get to the point where I start to have a little extra here and there... get busy and miss some exercise sessions and then it goes downhill from there.

Glad I am not the only one who has added things to the shakes and meals to make them more filling / variety.

We can do it! So glad I found this post. There doesn't seem to be many other places to chat about 1:1 diet and give support.

SpiritEssence · 06/06/2020 16:32

I am on step 1b and just ordered a shake blender and coming tomorrow. Just dreading the hunger feeling to

DietQueen2020 · 06/06/2020 18:52

Thanks for the support @iSushi. Needed to hear that. Yes inches is more important for sure xxx

@SpiritEssence it's more a mental hunger than a physical one hun. I was never gripping my stomach in pain from being hungry. Just found myself salivating at the thought of certain foods 😂 let the cravings come and go I promise they get less and less with each day.

@lardass88 Sorry to hear your struggling lovely :( just remember this isn't forever and there is an abundance of food out there. It is never going to go away. The supermarkets will always be stocked. Use this time stepping away from it all to really check your mindset.
Food has controlled me most of my life ... and I really don't want it to anymore. For my confidence and my health I need to control what I eat and not let it control me.

Sorry to get deep ladies 😂 we are all so much more capable than we think. We got this!!!

Campervan69 · 06/06/2020 19:06

iSushi yes I decided if I was going to do it during a pandemic it might be good to add extra vitamins in the form of fruit which is why I have been adding them.

Actually having a bad day today it is my time of the month and have gone a little off the rails. Need to get back on it again tomorrow and not beat myself up.

DietQueen2020 · 06/06/2020 19:20

@campervan69 sorry to hear your having a bad day hun. Great attitude though about getting back on it. That's what truly counts xxx

lardass88 · 06/06/2020 19:58

Sorry guys I'm
Going to have to bow out ... it's making me miserable.. I can't find a product I like.. so I end up eating nothing and feeling more miserable .. saying that I 100% believe in it.. but it's just not for me. Good luck everyone... you'll do it!! 😘😘😘

DietQueen2020 · 06/06/2020 21:11

Sorry to hear @lardass88. You gotta do you though girl. Best of luck xxx

iSushi · 07/06/2020 00:35

@lardass88 Hopefully you will find something that is right for you! You still lost a lot in the first week so that is a great starting point!

Best of luck for the future!

DietQueen2020 · 07/06/2020 16:59

Has today been a better day for you @Campervan69??? Xxx

iSushi · 07/06/2020 20:50

How are others doing today? I am on my 10th day today and beginning to feel it. I had a planned 'cheat' meal yesterday, but keeping my total calories for the day around 1000 and did a long walk this morning to even things out.

I did have a moment this morning thinking this is all there is now food wise for the next month or two that left me feeling disheartened... I am hoping this is to do with having not as much distractions during the weekend. Hopefully, tomorrow when I am working it will continue to be manageable.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

iSushi · 07/06/2020 22:18

@Campervan69 As @DietQueen2020 said... Hope you are doing better today.

Remember a slip up is just that and happens to us all. If it helps I put a limit to what the slip up is (e.g. a little bit of chicken, a small chocolate, etc) so that it is under 200 calories. If I do slip up I add an 1hr walk to my day to burn off the extra calories (or an extra 30 mins walk across two days if I am struggling for time).

Remember, 1:1 diet is there so you have 600-800 calories a day depending on if you are Step 1a or 1b. So if you slip up you will still lose some weight. If it bothers you (like it did for me when planning my 'cheat' meal) work out how many 'extra' calories you had and burn off as much of that during the rest of the week before weigh in through an extra walk a day.

You can do this!

SpiritEssence · 07/06/2020 22:53

I have got 2 weeks off work from tuesday so plan to start then instead of tomorrow as a 12 hour shift but I'm looking forward to this now as have brought a electric drink blender of Amazon and thrilled with it. I have my meals for 2 weeks and I know it's going to be hard but looking forward to starting now and not having to worry about meals.

Can I ask I know they say drink water and which I am but struge with water. I got some of there flavourings but surely flavoured sugar free still water is ok ?

Newme2016 · 08/06/2020 11:01

Hi all,

Welcome to all the newbie’s. There are quite a few of us now, which is great!

Got great news this morning, I lost 4 pounds this week, making my total loss in 7 weeks exactly 2 stone! So happy, it’s been very hard work sometimes, but I have been so determined to do it. Still have at least 2 1/2 stone to go to get into the healthy range so lots more to go.

Spirit I think my consultant would say no to the sugar free flavoured water, but I have still be having a glass or 2 of Diet Coke and it’s been fine.

Lardass, I am so sorry you couldn’t manage the diet. I discovered I hated all the packet stuff. I stick entirely to the ready made shakes and bars. That works for me. I really hope you manage to find something that works for you.

My plan after this diet is to try 16/8 and stick to 1200 cls during the week and relax over the weekend. I think that will work well for me to maintain. I never want to put the weight back on!

Keep going everyone!

iSushi · 08/06/2020 11:45

@Newme2016 That is an amazing loss! Congrats!

As mentioned before, I am on Day 11 and struggling mentally. Not in terms of hunger, etc. but my mood feels down.

I checked my weight loss this morning mid-week and alrrady lost 3lbs (despite cheat meal) which was great to see! Hopefully, I stay on track to lose 1 stone in two weeks.

I think it is making me realise that I often used food as a coping/comfort mechanism especially when work being more stressful/anxiety inducing at the moment. So I am not getting that extra comfort from a nice meal/snack that I would normally get.

Has anyone gone through something similar?
