Cambridge Diet / 1:1 diet, anyone? 2020 targets?

Hi all, does anybody want to buddy up through weight loss journey? I'm feeling really positive. I have 6 stone to loose in order to qualify for any fertility treatment.

I'm on sole source, step one. Sticking to shakes this week. Might have some "meals" next week. Might treat myself to a bar next month.

I feel like the bars could be a slippery slope
for me... I prefer cutting all solids out.

Yes I know, not the healthiest diet long term.. I have no intention of gaining it all back. It's not for everybody, please be nice :) I need a kick start.

Hey,

I’m still on plan, 9 weeks in and I’ve lost 2 stone 5 pounds.

Struggling a bit over the last couple of weeks but a 7 pound loss this week has motivated me no End!

What products are you enjoying?

M x

Newme2016 · 23/04/2020 12:04

Hi Maddison,

That’s great 2 stone 5 is brilliant, well done. 7 lbs in a week is great.

I had a sneaky weight in this morning and I am 5lbs down already. It does keep you going.

How much do you want to lose?

My favourite is definitely the chocolate ready made shake. The bars are good too. What do you like?

Good to have company, I have a long way to go!

Bev2020 · 24/04/2020 22:54

Hi everyone

Well done for the weight loss success so far!.

I’ve just started the diet this week (on Tues) so 4 days in. I’ve done it before so have started on step 1a. The plan is to lose 3.5 stones.

I found dual dynamo (a consultant and motivational speaker) on YouTube quite motivating.

I’m loving the spag bol, mac&cheese and lemon bars :)

Does anyone know if having just the pasta meals slows down weight loss? Or does it not matter? I don’t really like the shakes as I feel like I’m not eating as I don’t chew anything.

Bev x

Hi all

Just wanted to share my experience of CWP with you to give a different perspective. I was 10st, size 8/10 up to and a 12 down bottom. I thought I was fat and wanted to get down to 9st. Looking back there was nothing wrong with me at all and I should never have been allowed to do this plan. I didn't have a weight issue ever, it's was all phycological.
You will be hungry on this diet and you will have cravings and since it isn't a sustainable lifestyle, I came off it and just tried to eat healthy. The problem is the damage was done. By body was in star action mode so anything I ate, no matter how healthy, stored as fat. I rapidly started gaining weight, I got stretch marks and any muscle I once had was now wasted and flabby. Here I am today at 16st and I don't recognise my body.

Please tread carefully with this diet.

F33F33 · 02/05/2020 09:48

That was supposed to say starvation mode.

Newme2016 · 04/05/2020 11:36

Hi,

How’s everyone doing?

I have done 2 weeks now, stuck to it very well, and have lost 12lbs! Very happy about that. Still tons to go, but it’s a start and that’s the main thing.

Hope everyone is well!

Joeyred · 05/05/2020 06:38

Hiya , it really doesn’t make a difference at all so enjoy what you can of the products you like. Each of them is designed with a balance of minerals, vitamins and to a calorie amount, that’s what’s important. It’s more important to add variety if you can as it will eventually get more difficult, or at least I struggle a tad with boredom but I’m on 1b now so I’m with you :)

We can do this. Wink

Joeyred · 05/05/2020 06:41

Well done!! That’s amazing! You should be proud of yourself! Remember the first week is your water weight week so you’ll feel even lighter after that hopefully and more to come if you stick to it!

I’m finding the not having to think about food choice oddly relieving.. is that weird? I had no idea how much I used to think about what to have all day

Good luck :)

Jojoe02 · 08/05/2020 14:19

Hi there,
I started this diet last year but stopped over Christmas, and it's taken me a while to get back on it I'm in the first week., and hoping to loose 4 stone, seems such a lot and so far away but I feel determined this time round... it's great to read all the threads here it's really motivating so thank you everyone 😊

Shedtheload · 08/05/2020 14:25

F33F33 sorry to hear about your experience. I had a hideous experience with 5:2 which triggered a binge eating disorder. But the people who have bout into these fad diets won’t hear anything against it so it’s fairly futile to voice concerns although I genuinely think living off fewer than 1000 calories a day is likely to fuck with your metabolism in a big way.

F33F33 · 08/05/2020 16:47

@Shedtheload, couldn't agree more. These fad diets have a lot to answer for.
How are you now? Have you found anything that works for you?

Shedtheload · 08/05/2020 17:33

Thanks F33F33. Like you, I wasn’t fat either but developed a really unhealthy binge eating disorder from doing the 5:2 and starving myself two days a week. I went from 10 and a half to 15 stone. I am losing it now (am at around 13 st and it’s coming off and I am eating a proper amount of calories and doing exercise) but I am really annoyed at myself for doing it in the first place.

F33F33 · 11/05/2020 11:39

@Shedtheload that's great that you have found something that works for you. Congratulations on the weight loss!! Hopefully, it won't be long until I find something that works for me. Something sustainable. I'm afraid that I am going to just keep getting bigger and bigger if I don't find something that works soon.

Newme2016 · 11/05/2020 12:38

Hi to everyone doing the Cambridge diet, how are you all doing?

I have officially lost one stone! Taken 3 weeks, so very happy with that.
Onto another week now.

Good luck everyone!

Mexyy · 11/05/2020 15:11

Hey @Newme2016 amazing work and well done...great results...

I’m nearly at 4months and 2 weeks and lost 5.5 stones.. keep going and you will hit your goal..
I have had a few up downs during lock down and have some keto friendly food like grilled peri peri chicken...as I keep craving Nandos lol...Xx

@Allysan sorry for disappearing...how are you? How’s the diet going? I literally have been on a mental health emotional rollercoaster with this lock down...but I’m still here..just felt super isolated...I have had a few up and downs too but I guess as long we have the strength to remember our goals and jump straight back on it we will be fine...xx

Mexyy · 11/05/2020 15:14

@Jojoe02 amazing work and we all have to start somewhere..I have done this diet a few years prior to doing it this time...they have really improved the products and The only thing that helped through the first month is black coffee...100% recommend it to kill off the hunger and to speed up weight loss xx

Mexyy · 11/05/2020 15:16

@Joeyred welcome..and I definitely agree..with no more food choice problems but honestly my cravings would always be decided by my cravings 😂😂

Best thing about this diet is the after math of having less food cravings and smaller appetite

lardass88 · 23/05/2020 08:43

I'm due to start this next Wednesday. Any tips? I know it's going to be hard. Got four stone to lose to get in the healthy bracket

Newme2016 · 25/05/2020 10:42

Lardass88 (love the username!) good luck with starting on Wednesday. The diet is hard but so worth it.

My advice would be drink loads, keeps your mouth busy and your tummy full. Rest as much as you can for the first 4 days as you will be hungry, but if you’re asleep you can’t eat! Stay out of the kitchen too. That’s hard if you have to look after a family, which I do. I think the most important thing is to have your mindset on it. It will get you through, I am still very determined to get to my goal.

I have now completed week 5 and I have lost 1 stone 8lbs today! Very pleased with that. My first aim was to get to 2 1/2 stone by the end of June, that gets me out of the obese catagory, and as long as I stick to the diet I should meet that. What is keeping me going too is the thought of seeing my friends and family (after lockdown) and shocking them with how much weight I have lost - they better notice!

Hope everyone else is doing well, there has been some great weight losses here - well done!

Have a great bank holiday!

lardass88 · 27/05/2020 09:39

@Newme2016 well done for the weight loss. I'm the same as you .. just want to come out of lockdown and have people say "wow" 😆 I'm under no illusion that I'm going to struggle but I just hope I see results fast to keep my motivation going

DietQueen2020 · 27/05/2020 18:09

Hey y'all, so happy to have found a recent thread for the 1:1. It's the end of day 5 for me and I have lost 5lb!!! woohoo. Have never lost weight this quickly before. Really enjoying the meals too. I'm on the 1b step plan so four meals replacements a day.
I want to loose 5stone 6lb.
It's so nice to get support and advise from people who are in the same boat as you.
Lets do this Smile

lardass88 · 27/05/2020 19:29

Think the thread was starting to die but glad to see a couple more! 5lbs in five days? That's great! How are you finding it?

DietQueen2020 · 27/05/2020 20:56

@lardass88, hoping it doesn't die It's great to see peoples losses on here.
I'm loving it so far, finding it really easy. Though I am currently off work with covid. I'm a nurse so not sure how I'm gonna cope with the 13 hour shifts on 800 calories but I'm staying positive.
How are you getting on with it?

lardass88 · 28/05/2020 09:23

Today is my first day. And I've woken up really hungry! Think my body knows it's in for a shock haha
