Wow Sjanish - 9 inches from your hips!
What was your starting weight last August? (If you don’t mind me asking.) Have you managed that all by diet alone, or also exercise?

Sjanish33 · 20/01/2020 16:02

@quemag I was 15 stone - I'm now (last weight in 13 stone 7) - I cycle on an exercise bike about 5km a day and I walk but I'm not hugely active - I put up weight from giving up the cigarettes and it went straight to my bottom :) - I still have over 3 to lose.

Sjanish33 · 20/01/2020 16:08

Bear in mind @quemag the hips also included my bottom belly Blush

I replied to this thread a while ago but was bogged down with revision for exams.
I would really like to lose a decent amount of weight by April as I have a big event I have no idea how to start.
My diet is awful, I’m veggie and a massively picky eater due to sensory issues and all study a very intense course plus share a tiny kitchen with 4 other people is not conducive to spending hours in the kitchen cooking.

SunshineAvenue · 20/01/2020 16:39

Sjanish33 that's really inspiring as I was just under 15 stone at the beginning of this thread. 9 inches off your hips is phenomenal, well done!

ListenLinda · 20/01/2020 17:10

1.5lb loss, bit disappointed as usually lose more in 1st week. BUT! My work pants that didn’t fit before xmas, I can get them on and do them up comfortably! Must take measurements for days like today!

Quemug · 20/01/2020 18:19

Well done Sjanish, you’ve done well to keep on it since last August. I’m starting on a similar level to what you started at - 15 stone, using a rowing machine at home and trying to walk more.

And you’re right April - I’m re-learning that the journey is perhaps more important than the end goal. By just focusing on eating healthily and sticking to sensible portion sizes I already feel better than I did.

Well done to everyone for the perseverance.

theweightlossone · 20/01/2020 19:19

Salad for dinner tonight Sad

Lostintransfixation · 20/01/2020 19:57

@ListenLinda me too. I only lost 1.5 lbs last week. I suspect I may have not lost anything this week. But I think I am on the right path. Fingers crossed I can keep it up. I am not looking forward to weigh in. This is hard work. I am also going to swap my weigh in day to a day I can do it more easily. That gives me an extra day Grin

Sjanish33 · 20/01/2020 20:16

Yep it is a journey to just eating better for me and if it takes another year so be it! I just fitted into a size 14 jeans which is something I haven't done for years! What I can't get over is how big portion sizes were (and still could be if I let them) I think we are almost encouraged to do this - TV chefs making big share plates of food - takeaways with huge portions -

I went to get some dry roasted nuts last night and it said on the pack that 25grams was 150 calories so I thought grand, I'll have that...I decided to weigh them and honestly had I not I would have happily eaten four times as many without a thought. 25 grams is tiny.

theweightlossone · 20/01/2020 20:46

I think when you consider that it apparently takes 3500 calorie deficit to lose 1lb it probably is unrealistic the be losing more than a 1lb or 2lb per week. As much as we want to be!! It doesn’t feel like much reward for the sacrifice does it? Sad

Sjanish33 · 20/01/2020 21:09

1lb a week is 52lb a year there's the 3 stone and change gone. The trick is trying to get the balance so it doesn't feel like we are being deprived and can still eat what we love but perhaps just less of it?

SunshineAvenue · 20/01/2020 21:11

Yes exactly the portion sizes. I weighed out some cashew nuts the other day, 20g I think and there was about 12 cashews. 12!

theweightlossone · 20/01/2020 21:11

Absolutely! Avoiding getting to the point you sack it all off and completely fall off the wagon.

SheepSocks · 21/01/2020 16:49

I'm at the point where I would previously "sack it off." But I want to feel confident in my body.

Plus I had the horrid realisation that my rather heavy toddler daughter weighs less than what I need to lose!

SheepSocks · 21/01/2020 16:50

Not that DD is overweight. My poor arms just ache when I lift her up. Crikey, just realised how my last post sounded 🙈

Sjanish33 · 21/01/2020 18:24

@sheepsocks - I'm sure your DD is perfect but I know what you mean :)

Feeling good today and just over 1000 calories done and I'm hoping I won't eat until morning. Not feeling deprived at all this week to the point that I'm wondering if MFP or me is calculating the calories incorrectly - I suppose I'll know on Thursday if I've lost anything. Hope everyone is doing well.

nakedavengeragain · 21/01/2020 19:26

Hi everyone. Sounds like we've all entered the week 3/4 plateau. I'm cycling round the same 3lbs at the moment (daily weigher) but as ever the trend is generally down but slow. What I mean is I've stopped seeing the higher of the figures and more often its the lower if you see what I mean

Sat: 12,9
Sun: 12.7
Mon: 12.8
Tues:12.8
Wed; 12.7

It's very normal to plateau. Most of us lost a lot in the first two weeks. Mainly water. Now we are losing fat. But as we do the fat cells fill up with water. Drink loads of water and they will flush and we should see weight loss start again next week. Hopefully for many of us a whoosh!

theweightlossone · 21/01/2020 19:44

I’ll be three weeks tomorrow. Not expecting any more of a loss tbh so it’ll be 7lbs in 3 weeks.

I’m currently on 1300 calories per day but some days not eating it all. I might drop to 1000. I want to try on wedding dresses soon so would love a stone off ASAP.

SunshineAvenue · 21/01/2020 20:51

A wedding! We need deets ...

theweightlossone · 21/01/2020 20:53

Not much to tell yet because I have nothing organised so far apart from venue!

But the main focus now is not looking like a beached wale wrapped in a toilet roll Grin

SunshineAvenue · 21/01/2020 22:14

Congrats! How long til the big day?

SunshineAvenue · 22/01/2020 07:33

SW: 14 st 13 (01/01/20)
CW: 13 st 13.6

In the 13s and 1.6 lbs off this week. Happy with that.

nakedavengeragain · 22/01/2020 07:40

@SunshineAvenue a stone in 3 weeks? Woooooaah!

theweightlossone · 22/01/2020 07:56

Finally another lb off for me!

01/01/20 11.13
22/01/20 11.05

A stone is amazing Sunshine!!! Well done! I wanted a stone off in January so badly but I don’t see it happening now.
