I'll join you, keep sabotaging myself so maybe this will help me along. Think I'll go weigh in Boots or similar this weekend as my scales like to fluctuate 4lbs either way so never sure of what I weigh.

SunshineAvenue · 16/01/2020 20:58

Yeah, what is it about the water?it weighs a ton so you'd think it would have the opposite effect Confused

lboogy · 16/01/2020 22:25

Weighing in today at 78kg. Total weigh loss so far 2kg. I'm 5'3.
I'm cutting calories, trying to hit 15-17k steps through jogging x2 a week and walking everywhere .

I can't do food type restrictions diets. If I know I can't have something then I want it more. I also can't do no carbs either.

Chocolatemice · 16/01/2020 22:33

According to the NHS, I have a lot more than 3 stone yo lose, but I’d be happy with three. I have read that better sleep helps you to lose weight.

I will probably do my weigh ins at Boots, as suggested by MrsB, as my scales are not too reliable either.

@sunshineavenue the theory is as you lose fat the cells get replaced temporarily by water. If you are dehydrated your body holds onto that water. If you are getting enough water intake the cells purge it and you get a 'whoosh' effect in your weight loss. Hence stalls and gains happen but are often followed by a whoosh.

I definitely noticed the pattern last year. Also I notice when I gain weight or plateau I am massively thirsty.

Also good to take electrolytes alongside. Some sprinkles of Himalayan salt in a glass of water usually does that trick.

Caveat. I am a lawyer not a doctor or dietitian! I am not qualified to give medical advice!

SW 78.7
Now 77.6

So happy that the scales have started moving - hopefully will help me not fall too far off the wagon this weekend

Well done everyone for sticking with it 🍎. Was going to post a glass of wine but an apple is more appropriate

SunshineAvenue · 17/01/2020 07:30

@nakedavengeragain well! that sounds feasible.

No work today but have house admin/work to do today and planning a quiet weekend. I know lots of people hate January but I really like the stretch of time where it's almost universally acceptable to not make/accept social invitations which really helps when trying to lose weight and doing dry January. Well for me anyway.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

theweightlossone · 17/01/2020 07:52

Yesterday’s 3lb is back off Grin

You were all completely right about fluctuations.

I manage between 2 and 3 pints of water during the work week which I know probably isn’t enough. There’s also the fact I’m Scottish and will disintegrate if I don’t drink at least a litre of irn bru per day Wink diet of course!!

Chocolatemice · 17/01/2020 08:57

Its my birthday. I’ve got cake for other people to share. I shall try not to be too silly this weekend.

Had a sneaky mid-week weigh in this morning and I've lost another 2.5lbs, so now weighing in at 13.4.5. Like others I get really disheartened if the scales don't move or show a gain and that's when I give up.

I have bought myself some fancy Bluetooth scales which measure fat, water etc. I hope these are going to be more accurate because if I moved my old ones around the bathroom, I could gain half a stone! I know I've got to stick with it and accept that it isn't linear, but it's annoying sometimes, especially when I know I've stuck to my calories.

Sjanish33 · 17/01/2020 11:06

Scales are strange I have a Wii Fit so I normally weigh on them because it has a record of me for years!

Recently I got one of those digital ones - so the Wii Fit weighs me in Kgs and the bathrooms one in pounds and stones.

I was 85.9 Kg yesterday on the Wii Fit and this morning 13 stone 6 on the bathroom ones - so I think I've lost a pound between the two if that's all they're out by I'm not going to argue with either. Last August I was a pound short of 15 stones so I really have to take heart in that.

So what I'm doing now is hopping up on the bathroom scales more often but only weighing on the Wii Fit once a week.

My Fitness Pal keeps telling me that in 5 weeks I will be 12 stone 9lb - Anyone find it accurate?

Well done all - the pounds are coming of us!

louloubelleme · 17/01/2020 11:09

Got weighed this morning, wasn't planning on getting weighed to Monday and 4lb off in 4 days. New weight is 12 stone 2 Smile

Trewser · 17/01/2020 11:29

Well done all! I was surprised to have stayed the same 12.12 this morning despite a 18:6 yesterday and a 5k run!

hopefully this weekend will be a bit better than last weekend. I am doing a 5k race on Saturday which will be...interesting. Planning to walk half of it (it is super hilly) and will almost certainly come last, but dh signed me up for it in his infinite wisdom Hmm

Sjanish33 · 17/01/2020 11:41

@Trewser that's brilliant - I don't think I'd be able for a 5k crawl ;)
Well done @louloubelleme!

Chocolatemice · 17/01/2020 11:54

trewser, is dh doing it too, or is he only putting you u for it?

louloubelleme · 17/01/2020 12:25

@Sjanish33 thank you! It's been very tough, I am getting weighed again on Monday. So far have lost 8lb in 2 weeks, but not sure if I am able to keep that amount of weight loss going. It's been so tough, but this week has definitely been a lot easier than last. Keep in there everyone!

Trewser · 17/01/2020 12:31

no, he's doing the 10k! I think he thought it would be a nice thing to do together :-/

Chocolatemice · 17/01/2020 13:22

Went all the way to Boots and back and forgot to weigh myself 🤦🏽‍♀️

Quemug · 17/01/2020 13:24

Hi all - I’m a bit of a late starter but would also like to join you in the 3 stone challenge!

Current 15 stone down to 12 stone will get me to pre-pregnancy weight (I was already overweight then but it’s a start).

I’ve been on so many diets lately that I don’t know what I’m doing or what is right anymore. So to begin with I plan to go back to basics this week and just stick to 1500-2000 calories a day and see what that actually feels like again. I hope to be at least 1kg lighter this time next week!

SunshineAvenue · 17/01/2020 14:27

Happy birthday chocolate nice 🎂 enjoy!

Jeds55 · 17/01/2020 14:37

Jeds55 · 17/01/2020 14:39

Was on a course with food and snacks provided on Weds so fell off a bit but didn't ho too crazy, finding it hard yesterday and today. Just trying to get through today then can relax a bit tomorrow and back to it Sunday ahead of weigh in Mon. Need to go to shops running dangerously low on healthy snacks. Have a nice weekend all
