So week 1 weigh in 6lb off and a total of 12.5inches off.

Strongly disappointed with the 6lb but I'm telling myself that medicine and anaesthetics are playing a part!!!

Chocolatemice · 15/01/2020 23:50

6lb is excellent.

theweightlossone · 16/01/2020 07:39

Another 3 on for me!!

Genuinely don’t understand because I’m sticking under my calories every single day. Had one off day on Sunday but I’ve been under a couple of days too to balance it out.

How disappointing.

SunshineAvenue · 16/01/2020 07:50

Re the 3lb gain, are you on instagram/youtube? There is a guy called Jordan Syatt who's 'thing' is calorie deficit to lose weight. He talks about weight fluctuations and how weight loss is not linear. He did a 'big mac' challenge whereby he ate a big Mac every day for a month whilst being in calorie deficit. He had a few days 'off plan' (wedding etc) where he was over calories. He weighed himself every day and his chart over the month showed loses on most days, some maintenance AND some days he was up. Over the course of a month you could see that his overall trajectory was down (he lost 7lbs) but he had mini ups and downs throughout.

The point he also makes is people get disheartened when they see a gain and think 'oh fuck it' and give up. He says weight naturally fluctuates so if you just keep at it you will achieve your goal. Weight will go down, up a bit, down a bit, stay the same, go down, go up, stay the same, go down and so on. You have to get back on plan and keep going.

His YouTube stuff is good, he's v down to earth and a bit sweary which I quite like. Check him out.

Oh thank you!!

Sounds very interesting and like it could be motivating for me.

I will stick with it, I don’t have a choice but how bloody annoying gaining weight eating less than 1300 calories per day!

Hopefully after a month though I’ll have had a decent overall loss. Thanks again :)

Trewser · 16/01/2020 08:04

I gain every now and again. Consistency is the key. I often think, if i hadn't given up last year when I got discouraged, I'd be two stone thinner than now.

Trewser · 16/01/2020 08:07

I'm doing 18:6 today. Did it accidentally on Monday and found it easy. I'm at work until 2 so will just drink water and coffee and herb tea and stay busy! Then have something at about 2.30, a snack at 4.30 and a dinner at about 7.

SunshineAvenue · 16/01/2020 08:08

You're welcome!

Same for me Trewser. A few months ago I started looking at non diet diets iyswim which is when I came across the Jordan Syatt guy. If only I'd stuck at it Sad

Still, I'm here now and determined to see it through

theweightlossone · 16/01/2020 08:10

I am down a ring size! I refuse to even look at wedding rings until I’m a smaller size. That’s something I suppose Grin

OhMsBeliever · 16/01/2020 08:24

Hi, can I join in please?

I'm the heaviest I've ever been - 13st 1lb, and I'm 5ft 1, so need to sort it out!

I'm not really following a plan, just cutting out the crap (crisps are my downfall) and reducing portion sizes, and getting to the gym more.

Sjanish33 · 16/01/2020 08:28

Weigh-in Day
SW: 89kg
Week 1: 87kg
Week 2: 85.9kg

Just over 2lb off this week - it felt a bit of a slog for that but actually I would be more than happy to continue getting that sort of loss while having 1200 cals a day.

MurielTheCamel · 16/01/2020 08:37

Weigh in day
SW 209.6lbs
CW 204.2lbs

Ok with that, I haven't been very disciplined this week.

Next week will be tricky because of birthdays, meals out etc. But onwards and upwards..

Chocolatemice · 16/01/2020 08:38

If you are female, remember that hormones and periods play a part in unexpected gains.

Carriemac · 16/01/2020 08:53

Can I join ? Starting weight 12:13, I’m 5:4 so definitely need to lose 3 stone. Have already lost 2 lbs since new year
I’m grumpy this week and finding it hard to stay motivated.

nakedavengeragain · 16/01/2020 09:02

@theweightlossone same here! See my post yesterday!

Cerealkillers · 16/01/2020 09:08

Just found this thread, can I join too?

Start weight 12st 2lb, I'm 5ft 4" and would like to get to 9st if possible. Years of neglect to blame, addicted to junk & anything quick and easy!

Have done WW which was the most successful & got down to 9st 7lb a few years back, MFP not so much but really not keen on re-joining WW as I know how many cals I should be eating and begrudge paying for something that tells me what I already know?

nibdedibble · 16/01/2020 09:09

Yes to fluctuations, dh pointed out I'd drunk a litre of water the previous night and probably not peed out a litre so that will account for some 'gain'.

I feel gross, all my clothes are tight and I hate it but I am not giving up! I've been doing 16:8 every day, and keeping calories down, drinking water, doing yoga and cardio, and given up alcohol. It'll all be doing something good I am sure.

SheepSocks · 16/01/2020 09:30

I'll join you! I have managed to lose a measly pound so far despite cutting back to 1200 calories and going to the gym 3 times a week.

I'll have a read through the thread and learn from everybody here.

Trewser · 16/01/2020 10:47

12.12 this morning so that's 6lbs so far. Really happy. Just looking back over my fitness pal entries and horrified to see I put on a stone in one year 2018/2019. If I get down to 12 stone that's the lightest I've been for ages. 11.7 (goal) will be amazing.

nibdedibble · 16/01/2020 11:01

So just to mess with my head, I weighed myself after posting earlier and I'm 4.4 lbs lighter than I was yesterday. Same time, same clothes...Which means I'm back to 2lbs lost in total since weighing myself last week. I guess that's ok. Not brilliant but not as catastrophic as it felt yesterday! (Might check my scales...)

theweightlossone · 16/01/2020 12:47

@nibdedibble that’s the thing - even if we’re not losing it’ll be doing us good!

@nakedavengeragain it’s disheartening isn’t it?

Chocolatemice · 16/01/2020 13:18

Now I’m trying to be more sensible, I can really notice the food I would normally eat without thinking.

nakedavengeragain · 16/01/2020 18:40

@theweightlossone well as predicted I've now lost the 3lbs and some extra!

I should know that weight loss isn't linear. I lost 2 stone over 9 months last year and here's my weight loss graph!

Someone on here gave me some words of wisdom that kept me going 'the only way you can lose weight is eating less, if you stop now how else are you going to do it?' Kept me going through the ups and always saw a down! Persevere! Check cals or carbs aren't sneaking in accidentally and go with the flow.

Also recommend weighing every day or every few days. You get used to the volatility and see patterns and it means your weekly weigh ins don't correspond with a temporary gain!

Anyone looking to lose about 3 stone?
nakedavengeragain · 16/01/2020 18:47

Also WATER. Loads of it. I saw a pattern whereby I wouldn't lose and would often gain if I hadn't drunk enough. 3 litres a day ideally

MuMuMuuuum · 16/01/2020 19:41

Just checking in. I'm down 4.5 lbs this week. 11'9 to 11'4.5.

I've been super careful, no sugar or alcohol. 1 bootcamp class and 2 long walks. Try to hit 10k steps a day too but not managed it every day. I'm determine to do it this year and keep it off!
