I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

Starvation wise - when I first started on 1400 calories I was physically starving hungry every moment. But now my body seems to be used to it and I’m hardly ever truly hungry unless just before a meal.

MFP for calories

But I do not lose weight unless I exercise to death or below 1000 cals

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 09:26

I'm.fine on 1400.

I dont lose weight on it though

WellErrr · 27/01/2020 09:26

How many calories have you been having?

OP posts:
WellErrr · 27/01/2020 09:27

Sorry x post.

Can you try 1200 for two weeks and see what happens?

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 09:50

@MyuMe try walking, it's far easier for fat loss as you dont get hungry after it. Never eat back exercise calories. If you walk 10k steps a day and eat 300 calories under maintenance you should lose a pound a week.

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 09:57

I cant

I am out of the house 12-14 hours a day in a job in central London.

It is evenings or weekends for exercise.

Thanks all for the suggestions though and well done for success Flowers

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 10:03

No worries @myume - weight loss definitely isn't the be all and end all, just doing whatever you can for a happy life! Smile

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 10:05

That's not how you're all acting about it.

The 8stb8lbs are making me feel ill

TheHoundsofLove · 27/01/2020 10:07

Octopus half a pound is not too bad - onwards and upwards downwards!
toaster Fabulous progress!
Twixes Fingers crossed for later...
Patchwork Half a stone so far is fantastic!
every You're so nearly there...keep going.
Hey Well done!
Suzie You're doing really well now - keep going!
jelly Fingers crossed for you too...
MyuMe Would trying a different weigh of eating suit you better? I know it's not for everyone but intermittent fasting really seems to have boosted my metabolism. I don't find the fast days that bad and then I do genuinely eat whatever I fancy on the other days - I definitely don't feel that I'm having to starve myself.
Sorry if I've missed anyone out...

Twixes · 27/01/2020 10:21

What height are you @MyuMe? You can't compare yourself to others, everyone's doing their own thing and we're here to support each other regardless of our targets and starting points (well that's how I see it anyway).

I know you're probably referring to me about my current weight but I'm only 5'0 so every lb makes a huge difference.

And for what it's worth I'm also really struggling to lose despite 5/6 exercise classes a week, no drink and moderate calorie intake!

My official weigh in at my gym had me down 200 measly grams this morning. That's not even 1/2 a lb. but it's better than nothing and I'm in it for the long haul. I just need to keep reminding myself of that. Slowly but surely is proven to be the most successful way to lose weight and keep it off.

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 10:33

I weigh 9st8 but if you're feeling ill about it its probably not the thread for you. Everyone is different with different aesthetic goals and compositions. I've found it a lovely supportive thread but maybe because I'm not comparing myself to others.

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 10:39

@Myume I am also out of the house 12 hours a day commuting into London. It is not easy so be kind to yourself. That's the most important thing.

DontFundHate · 27/01/2020 10:49

Absolutely well done everyone!!!! So pleased for you all, we've all worked really hard.

I fell into my own trap though and got a bit complacent! I find weekends hard and have been estimating calories since Friday night, so not lost any weight this week! Not a gain either though and I know where I went wrong. I'm going to try to find some time later to work out all my calories properly. And to actually plan what I'll have at the weekend instead of winging it! Dp also works away a lot and is off for a while now, which means I'm a bit more in control of what we'll eat Friday nights and weekends. Annnnd I know I was warned not to eat exercise calories and I did and I didn't manage to do all my exercise which also hasn't helped! So I'll have a think about that too.

Thanks for all the fantastic tips everyone and let's keep going Smile

Patchworksack · 27/01/2020 10:54

I appreciate being accountable here to report days where I'm on track and days where it doesn't go so well, it makes me at least think about my choices. I don't think I would have stuck to it 4 weeks in on my own. And I doubt I will ever be anything starting with an 8, but that's ok.

WellErrr · 27/01/2020 11:45

we're here to support each other regardless of our targets and starting points (well that's how I see it anyway).

This is exactly what I think too. I really don’t think I would have stuck it without this thread! So thanks everyone :)

I’ve decided that now I’m nearing target, Mondays (after weigh in 😂) are going to be my day off. So I’m not going to go mad, but I won’t be weighing and measuring, and if I want a bit of cake or a can of coke I’ll have one.
And then be super disciplined the rest of the week!

I think I needed to set an actual day, as I was starting to just go ‘oh it can be my morning off’ every day which doesn’t really work. I need rules!!

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 11:53

Also appreciating the accountability and encouragement over here too!!

A nominated day off sounds great WellErr.

I have been watching some great YouTube videos about sensible sustainable gradual weight loss by a guy Jordan Syatt. His talk on weight fluctuations is really interesting and fits with my own experience that some ups and stalls are all part of the process. He omits any mention of hormones but it is a good watch for anyone who is working hard and seeing the number move around.

Twixes · 27/01/2020 11:55

Righteo (dons serious, focused hat). Given my lacklustre progress I've decided I'm going to change tack. I'm going to ease off on my spin classes and focus more on what I'm eating. I mentioned my knee before, and it's not getting any better so I need to let it heal.

I also don't think I've been entirely honest with estimating my calories so I'm going to take a closer look at that. As boring and anal as it is, I'm going to try to weigh what I eat and plan for the week ahead. Looking back I've probably had too many pasta-based dinners but that's because they're so easy with two fussy smallies to feed! Anyway, I've made a food plan for this week which includes more rice and asian dishes which I find are generally lower in calories.

Fist bump to myself

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 12:04

Sounds like a good plan @Twixes

Twixes · 27/01/2020 12:16

Thanks Smile that video was really helpful too @everycowandagain. I think I'm a muggle Wink

WellErrr · 27/01/2020 12:53

Good plan Twixes!

I can’t estimate calories. I have to weigh everything and I’m genuinely shocked at how small portions are, and how small a ‘small apple’ actually had to be.

My portion sizes have pretty much halved since I started calorie counting. At first it was hard but now I don’t even notice really!

OP posts:
everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 13:55

Glad you liked the video @Twixes. I track most days and it's definitely Dumbledore's Ladder for me!!

DontFundHate · 27/01/2020 14:35

Thanks @everycowandagain that video is so interesting, helped me feel a lot better today! I like his video on working on calories too, very interesting. My day off and ds having his nap so doing some serious work on checking my plan this week :)

DontFundHate · 27/01/2020 14:36

Working out calories

TheHoundsofLove · 27/01/2020 15:22

every That video is great - thanks for sharing it.
