I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

With the week I’ve had and the 2lb gain midweek.....I’ll happily take that!

That's great Well - half a pound in the right direction!

Octopus37 · 27/01/2020 06:56

Well done all. 9st8 for me, so up half a pound from last week. Didn't do very well on Saturday as we all know Also, yesterday ate a portion of fruit crumble, later on went to the pub and had chicken katsu with rice and a pint of cider. Hoping its a temporary bloat from that and period. Aiming to be 9st 6.75 on Friday/Saturday cause its the end of the month.

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 07:14

I dont have scales at home and cant weigh.

I find that way madness lies. Weigh maybe once a month starting when i know I've lost something

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 07:23

Well done @WellErrr and @TheHoundsofLove!

Weight on 28/12 was 145.6lbs
Weight on 6/1 was 139.4lbs
Weight on 13/1 is 139.8lbs (period)
Weight on 20/1 is 136lbs
Weight on 27/1 is 134.2

Going for a big meal out on Sat, cant wait!! Planning to just eat usual 1200ish every day then have a blow out at the weekend and see if I can avoid gaining and just maintain next Monday, the weight is coming off quite fast but im starting to worry about maintenance as dont want it to go back on as fast as it has come off!

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 07:24

@Octopus37 my first weight on 28/12 was straight off the back of Christmas binging so I'm certain yours will be bloat, theres no way I lost 6lbs of fat in the first week!

Twixes · 27/01/2020 07:28

Argh, sorry to head that @Octopus37, at least it's only 1/2 lb!

Well done @TheHoundsofLove and @WellErrr , you two are inspiring me to work harder.

I haven't had a great week overall and my own scales isn't telling me amazing things. Official weigh in later and will report back 🤞🏻

Twixes · 27/01/2020 07:30

That's v impressive @toasterstrudle !

Patchworksack · 27/01/2020 07:36

Well done everyone!
9st7 today so that's half a stone off this month! I'm pretty chuffed with that. I need to lose another 4-7lbs to be at my happy weight, I think. BMI now 23.6 so comfortably back into 'healthy' from being top end after Christmas.

Patchworksack · 27/01/2020 07:46

I always wonder about the 'weigh once a month' thing. (not you in particular myume) On the TV shows who believes that the dieters haven't stepped on the scales for six weeks or whatever?? I need the motivation of seeing the little losses mounting up each week or I'd have got bored. Not stepping on the scales is what let me creep up to 10 stone in the first place. Each to their own though, we all deal with this differently. Since I'm a tortoise at this and not a hare, I'm never going to get the "I've dropped 10lbs!!" moment on the scales. Grin

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 07:55

I am down to 9 stone 7.6 this am so 9 1/2 is in reach!! Next goal is 130 pounds/9 1/4 with my early March holiday in mind.

Weekends are about damage limitation here to some extent because we drink at home and eat out etc. It is all about moderation for me, if I really want it I will have it and enjoy it but I won't eat for the sake of it.

With the tortoise approach to weight loss I actually weigh most days. It goes up and down but helps me see progress (or not!). Didn't bother the last few days with my period or after a big dinner I wouldn't bother the next morning but it helps me stay in the zone. Wouldn't work for everyone I realise.

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 08:01

Because everyone fluctuates in weight.

It is very rarely down down down down

As seen already from some of the posts a fluctuation up demotivates

toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 08:03

Well done @Patchworksack! I agree about the weighing, we're definitely all different but going forward I think I'm going to just weigh myself regularly for the rest of my life, I used to do it when I was mid-20s and a really healthy 10st (trained lots at the gym and had loads more muscle, ironically smaller dress size than I am now!) and I swear it kept me on track. But then I'm sure some find it demotivating and need the big shifts which come about with longer periods in between weighing.

Also well done @everycowandagain!

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 08:08

Loved that picture further down, so interesting how everyone is different.

I also love the 'body transformation' pictures where their weight is exactly the same but the fat and muscle composition are totally different. Ultimately I want to build muscle and lose fat so it's not all about the ending weight for me.

everycowandagain · 27/01/2020 08:11

The thing about an upwards fluctuation is that it doesn't mean you've failed. It could be your body's normal ups and downs. I think a target weight range is a better idea than one single weight which it's impossible to be at all the time. Out bodies just can't stay at a single weight.

Heygirlheyboy · 27/01/2020 08:15

2lbs down :) That's 3.5 in 2 weeks. Very pleased but a little impatient now to get it gone!! However I have improved my skin, my sleep, my energy and I'm more inclined to fit in a decent walk a few times a week. Weekly weigh suits me best. I'm at 4 weeks in tomorrow but battery was gone on scales. Wishing everyone a great week ahead. Yummy feta salad packed for lunch. Few tough days ahead workwise so going to eat well but enjoy my takeaway Fri.

Suzie2021 · 27/01/2020 08:18

Weigh in: 10.4 I did have a big blow out yesterday on pizza, wedges and cake tho. I’m going to be extra strict now and not have any alcohol as that makes me want to eat more. Well done everyone for the willpower amazing xx

Twixes · 27/01/2020 08:20

That's me! ^^ I kind of fell off the wagon because it's been so slow and all over the place. Talking sense into me today and trying to accept it going to be a long slow process.

jelly79 · 27/01/2020 08:36

@DontFundHate well done on your run! I have a half marathon next week and then I'm going to focus on smaller quicker runs for a while I think!

@MyuMe I do that..exercise and then consume the calories I've worked off 🙈

Just realised it's Monday so before I eat I'll go weigh... unsure what this will bring but I feel like I have slimmed a bit...

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 08:43

I'm.out

I cant stick to the levels of starvation needed.

I haven't lost anything

Heygirlheyboy · 27/01/2020 08:51

That's a pity MyuMe do you think youof could up the satisfaction content of your meals while keeping within calorie limit? It's not easy but I have found I'm rarely actually hungry except when due a snack or meal and I'm enjoying the food much more.

WellErrr · 27/01/2020 09:06

Oh that’s a shame MyuMe. What are you using to track calories?

OP posts:
toasterstrudle · 27/01/2020 09:06

@MyuMe I had a week where I didnt lose anything either, trying to play the long game. I've cut my calories quite severely because I want fast results (impatient) but you dont need to do that. Try putting your details in here - www.jamessmithacademy.com/ - gives a more sustainable calorie allowance and a protein target to hit. Of course you might not actually want to lose weight which is also totally fine!

WellErrr · 27/01/2020 09:09

Regarding weighing, I need to weigh every week. It might fluctuate but the trend is downwards and that’s what motivates me.

I also didn’t weigh for YEARS and that’s how I crept up. I was 9st4 at the start of this thread but I was nearer 9.10 at points throughout the year. I’m only diddy so it really really shows on me. I’ve looked back at some pictures from the summer and I look awful.

I’m definitely going to do regular weighing for the forseeable.

Aiming for one more pound off by next week to take me to 8st9lbs🤞🤞🤞🤞
