I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

Yes everycowandagain !!

Wineloffa · 19/01/2020 12:19

@WellErrr I’m 40 this week which is probably why it’s slower. I’ll just have to accept a slow and steady pace! I might hit my original goal (9st) by Friday but not sure I’ll see the 8s, my period messed things up a bit!

@joggingon I was the same 10 years ago, I only had to give up bread and the weight would fall off me. Very different these days!

Well done everyone on your losses this week. This has been such a motivating thread!

DontFundHate · 19/01/2020 12:35

@Heygirlheyboy Dontfundhate, would it help to think.of weekends as an opportunity to have really nice, healthy meals?

This is really interesting thanks, I love cooking but could definitely plan some lovely healthy meals for breakfast and lunch, I'm great at planning healthy evening meals and eat healthily during the week but planning healthy breakfast and lunches at weekends would be good to keep me on track too

It definitely helps me having Monday weigh in too, I usually weigh at the weekends but waiting until Monday means I'm making more effort over the weekend for a good result tomorrow!

I think it really helps not to think of it as a diet and a.negative. We feel better eating well, generally look better, sleep better etc

Totally, usually before my AF I'm incredibly emotional and comfort eat / crave sugar, it affected me so much that I was starting to self diagnose with the extreme PMT thing! this time I've started my AF today and have not even noticed it coming, I've had two little chocolates within my calories allowance the last few days but no pain and only a tiny bit emotional, I'm sure that eating well, getting my 5 a day, exercising has really really helped

DontFundHate · 19/01/2020 12:38

@WellErrr new goal sounds good, will you still keep track of calories and weigh in? I'm hoping once I'm at target that I'll be able to eat healthily and will have started to develop new habits, I hope this thread keeps going too, ive joined a few like this before and only ever post once before forgetting about it, but this thread is special and I'm feeling super motivated still :)

Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 13:09

I had a gorgeous Saturday lunch yesterday Dontfundhate , Beetroot falafels in a soft role with salad and roast veg in a lovely nearby cafe. Left half the role, genuinely full. Another treat will be fitting into all the heretofore redundant clothes in my wardrobe!!

Patchworksack · 19/01/2020 13:15

Yep - definitely going with the "because we're worth it" vibe! All about improving our health as well as our shape and eating stuff that is nutritious.
heygirl your lunch sounds delicious.

Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 13:36

Roll fgs, autocorrect! We are so worth it.

jelly79 · 19/01/2020 13:43

So I've let myself down this weekend

Planned 10k run, ran 7k
Ordered unnecessary dominoes (1600 cal)
Planned 2 classes, done 1
Grazed at a kids buffet
Avoided this thread and MFP all weekend

Weigh in will be fun tomorrow!

Weekends are just hard!

Hope you are all doing better than I am :)

Octopus37 · 19/01/2020 14:40

Jelly don't worry, its so hard isn't it, at least you did some running and an exercise class. Keep going, you might be pleasantly surprised tomorrow.

Today - 2 oatcakes, seven almonds
Lunch - Crust of seeded bread with 1 ,mini babybel lite
2 M&S Chocolate rounds

Another day where I want to eat non-stop. Planning on a jacket potato with tuna and coleslaw for dinner and a long dog walk

Twixes · 19/01/2020 15:02

My weekend has also been less than glorious, and I avoided MyFitnessPal!
Managed two spinning classes but I had a Chinese last night, I chose duck which is probably the worst option!

Then had pancakes for brunch today Blush

Weigh in tomorrow will be interesting but given the increase in exercise I'm hoping I won't have done too much damage

joggingon · 19/01/2020 15:14

@jelly79. 7k more than I ran. Well done!

Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 15:27

7k is absolutely fab!!

Octopus, are your calories very low? I'd be starving on that!

Patchworksack · 19/01/2020 15:37

A weekend that includes a run and an exercise class can't be all bad jelly
Did anyone see Prof Roy Taylor's article in the Times about healthy eating rules and beating diabetes? I'll try to find a link. I was tempted to wade into the thread that someone started yesterday about how the diet industry is unnecessary because if we all just ate food cooked from basic ingredients nobody would be fat, but it was turning a bit hodtile so I steered clear! He is saying similar, though be does advocate 800 cals shake diets as a short term option to reverse diabetes.

Patchworksack · 19/01/2020 15:45

Hodtile?? Hostile!

The Times article is behind a paywall but there are lots of similar ones if you Google. His rules are:

  1. Sort out your larder (get rid biscuits, cakes, sweets, crisps, sugary drinks and ready meals)
  2. Fat/carbs are not important, just how much (calories) you eat.
  3. Breakfast is not 'the most important' meal.
  4. Beware smoothies + fruit juice.
  5. Snacking should be banned
  6. Drink more water.
Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 16:05

Good tips!

TheHoundsofLove · 19/01/2020 17:21

Yes - they are great ‘rules’ to follow regardless of which diet we’re following. I’ve had quite a good weekend - I did have waffles for brunch and then am having yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese for dinner tonight...and will definitely have wine with it...but did run 16km this morning so fingers crossed that I break even. Good luck for tomorrow morning everyone!

Twixes · 19/01/2020 17:44

Well done all the runners @TheHoundsofLove and @Octopus37. Great distances!

Octopus37 · 19/01/2020 17:53

Not too low, looked it up last night and as I guessed 1200-1500 cals is about right for me for weight loss. The oatcakes I eat are the big triangular ones (133 cals each) and the crust was quite thick, would normally have 2 slices of seeded bread, think what I had was the equivalent. My friend came round with a box of M&S biscuits, at two of the chocolate rounds (97 cals each) just looked them up. Overally cals so far about 811 and just about to have dinner. Probably on the high side but this is just about sustainable for me

Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 18:21

Amazing distances. I pushed a lump of a four yo for an hour walking. Tagine for dinner and ratatuoille and halloumi in oven for work lunch tomorrow :)

WellErrr · 19/01/2020 19:55

Sounds like some very active weekends!! I’ve been doing my mystery-too-outing-sport today and I’m exhausted now!

B - actimel and small banana
L - falafel and salad wrap
D - jacket potato with chilli

S - Freddo bar

138 calories left and I just want to EAT. I’m considering having a galaxy hot chocolate for 100 calories.

I’m struggling a bit this weekend, and it’s because I had a night off yesterday. I’m now craving sugar again which makes me just want to eat everything in sight. Really hard.

I’ve stuck to my calories or been under apart from yesterday when I had 1910, but I’m not expecting a loss tomorrow for some reason, just not feeling it!

Heygirlheyboy · 19/01/2020 19:59

If sugar is your downfall, I'm actually finding it easier having none than some, for the first month or so any way. I'm done for the day now and all logged..fingers crossed I've knocked a pound off in the morning!

WellErrr · 19/01/2020 20:25

Same heygirl - it’s because I had a chocolate bombe with custard last night, I was over it before then!

toasterstrudle · 19/01/2020 20:54

Patchwork that's interesting- snacking is def my downfall, especially in evenings!! Have had to basically sit on my hands tonight to avoid it.

B- 2 eggs and english muffin (no butter/oil/spread)
L - tuna pita with salad and 1tbsp mayo
T- chickpea, chorizo, tomato and cabbage soup
No exercise, just 10k steps

Praying I'll see 136 tomorrow!

Wineloffa · 19/01/2020 21:18

Today I ate;

B- porridge + blueberries
L- small slice margarita pizza
D- salmon and veg stirfry (no noodles)

S- apple, handful popcorn, small slice of bday cake

Also had a non alcoholic beer so calories slightly over today but did a gruelling spin class this morning.

Hoping to be 9st tomorrow!!!

WellErrr · 19/01/2020 21:31

Good luck everyone for the weigh in tomorrow!!
