I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

@joggingon what do you calculate your maintenace calories as? I started out as 10 stone, moderately active and mine were 1700 a day. I'm not strictly counting but the days I have it's been about 1200 and that's to lose a lb a week.

Tomorrow will be tricky for me as we're off out, possibly to an Italian, I think a tomato based pasta would be best instead of pizza?

joggingon · 17/01/2020 19:32

I eat around 140g protein. Whilst most of my food is home cooked from scratch I do eat too many protein bars and shakes (I llove them!) but think they bloat me a bit + my periods due so gonna keep calm and carry on. Trust the process!

joggingon · 17/01/2020 19:35

@dontfundhate. Pizza might actually be better if you avoid processed meat toppings. Don't eat the crust and avoid wine calories. Eat less through the day and you should be able to balance it out. X

I've just had a pack of crisps (100 calorie bag but still). Deciding to come upstairs and have a bath and hide in my bedroom until tomorrow or cravings subside! Evening snacking is by far my downfall!!

joggingon · 17/01/2020 19:37

@patchworksack my watch has me on average at 2200 a day. I historically have lost 1-2lbs a week on 1600. It just gets harder and harder as I get older.

toasterstrudle · 17/01/2020 19:38

@DontFundHate if I were you I'd skip a meal so you can enjoy dinner! Pizza is unbelievably high in calories, so will restaurant pasta so I say skip lunch or breakfast, and just enjoy your dinner out! Or if you want to be sensible there's usually a meat/fish with veg option and have clear spirits with slimline tonic or diet coke.

DontFundHate · 17/01/2020 19:58

Thanks all. I'll have a think, AF will be here this eve or tomorrow so may just have to go with the flow Wink terrible pun there sorry! But yes I'll try skipping a meal too. And will just forget about the chocolates I've had this eve..!

I’d hardly eat anything during the day, then choose whatever’s best off the menu. Sometimes they do a grilled fish?
Pizza is often better than pasta, especially if it’s real thin crust pizza and you choose a sensible topping and don’t have chips!

I love the Lidl chicken arrabiatta pizzas on sourdough bread - they’re gorgeous and half of one (which is plenty) is 610 cals.

Enjoy your meal out dontfundhate and then get back on the wagon. We need to eat sensibly the majority of the time, it's ok to go out and indulge occasionally - it's just being mindful that 'indulging' is not becoming our default setting.
Well done toaster for sticking to one bag! I'm still finding evenings the most difficult.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for the last week, hope it's OK to join. I have put on a stone in the last year from complete binge eating, mostly chocolate. I coukd inhale a four pack in ten minutes no problem and it's been my relaxation tool and had become a habit and a crutch. But I am now 18 days free, and that's the right word for it, no chocolate, sweets, biscuits, desserts etc. For now I am staying completely clear of it all, none in the house and leaving wallet at home when going to work. The weirdest thing is once I decided to do it, it has been little to no effort which makes me feelnervous!! I'm eating nearly 1400 a day of really nice, healthy food and tracking on Lose it. Getting some walks in and definitely hope to up the activity, as that really helps the overall feel good factor. I was 10.5stone last Monday. Tbh considering the thousands pf calories I've avoided I thought I'd feel a difference quickly but it may be a slow ome for me and I know the chocolate often replaced decent meals because I just wasn't full. It's lovely now to really look forward to each meal.

everycowandagain · 18/01/2020 10:59

Another lurker here, joining in!! I have been back in the gym and focusing on my diet since 2nd Jan and I am a couple of pounds down and definitely looking leaner.

I am 5 foot 5 and about 9 stone 9, my goal is about 9 stone 3 I think. I am carrying a bit more muscle now so I am working towards something like 20% body fat and will see what weight that makes me when I get there!

I am doing good old fashioned portion control and lots of veg. I train hard in the gym 4 or 5 times a week and can't cut carbs too low or cut calories below 1500 without struggling so I am going for consistent focus on food quality and quantity. It doesn't leave much room for days off or cheat meals because I can wipe out a week's worth of calorie deficit in one meal if I am not careful.

So it's all about boring consistency for, but I know it works. And is working so far. Just need to stay in the zone, prep ahead and keep going!!

everycowandagain · 18/01/2020 11:01

@Heygirlheyboy good work, and just stick with it!!

joggingon · 18/01/2020 13:26

Yeah! Even though I gained 1lb this week was down 2 this morning which means I've lost 1lb this week so that's a relief. Hope that make a sense! On the right track. Gummed this morning. Really struggle with my deadlift because of back problems but improving. 🥳

@everycowandthen I'm in a very similar boat

Patchworksack · 18/01/2020 14:01

Welcome everycow and heygirl lots of us in a similar boat.

toasterstrudle · 18/01/2020 16:00

Welcome guys! More the merrier!

Excited to be another pound down today and into the 136lbs mark (145 at the start) although who knows what monday will bring.

Today I've been for a jog with the buggy and food has been
B- english muffin with 2 eggs (no oils or butter)
L-80g cooked pasta, tuna, lettuce, cucumber and balsamic vinegar (no added oils etc)

Off for tea at a friend's so who knows what the cals will be there so had a super light morning calorie-wise! Doing dry jan but will have some Nosecco.

WellErrr · 18/01/2020 16:39

Welcome guys!! Good luck on the weight loss!

I’m having my first bad day for cravings in ages. I’m cold, tired because I’ve been working loads, and I just feel like eating what I want without measuring it! And I keep thinking ‘I’m a pound off my target weight so why shouldn’t I!?’ but that’s a slippery slope to start sliding down...!

So far today I’ve had/planning to have -

B - actimel (27) and a small banana (54)
L - weighed portion of jacket potato with chilli and a bit of grated cheese (535)
D - half sourdough chicken pizza (610)

S - cup of tea (40) teeny Lidl chocolate bar (70)

Which would be 1277 calories.

I’ve got a salted caramel pudding left over from Christmas. If I had that I’d be up to 1751 which is too much, isn’t it?? 😭😭😭

Well done everyone, hard isn't it. Today have had
Breakfast - Oatcakes and Almonds - 315 cals
Lunch - 2 slices toast 260 cals
Mini babybel - 49 Cals + 309 cals
Yorkie bar 247 cals
Dinner will be a Slimming World ready meal (have been painting all day and the kitchen's a mess

Feel hangry today gobs and fed up that the weight is taking so long to come off. Still only 2 pounds down since 2nd Jan, , think it must be a age as I'm sure I should have lost about half a stone by now. Keep telling myself slowly but surely and thinking if I average a pound a week, in 3 months I will be nearly a stone down

WellErrr · 18/01/2020 17:23

What’s your daily calorie limit Octopus?

Off out to a local family owned Italian restaurant with the kids shortly. Planning on having a steak, veg, a few chips and a large glass of red wine Smile

Had a 1 hour PT session this am, followed by pretty good choices for breakfast and lunch so I am ready for my dinner.
