I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

And let’s not forget it was a CHILD meal with a 250ml child size Pepsi and the MINI cookie dough!!

And I had half the portion of chips which was 8 chips - 300cals just in those according to the menu and my app!

Once I’m at my target weight I think I’m going to stick around 1500 calories with maybe one 2000 day a week and see how I go.

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 19:05

Welcome Suzie!!
What’s your chosen method?? I’m calorie counting and it’s working so far!

So it’s been 9 days and my weight is static! So I now know how to eat to maintain my weight 😂

Things getting in way of weight loss:

Constipation (I think my body is missing porridge/muesli)
Being 51 and menopausal/peri
Really poor sleep insomnia and hot flushes
Not enough exercise
Had a virus end of last week and was exhausted all weekend
Pinching “just a couple” of kids’ chips Blush and eating “just a couple” of Percy Pigs in the car

What’s going well?

I’m eating loads less processed food and sugary stuff (Christmas Percy Pigs are finished)
My hot flushes have improved which may be due to steadier blood sugar

I’m keeping going as I’m enjoying eating more healthily and I’m still hopeful!

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 19:17

What diet are you doing cankles? Frustrating to be static but eating more healthily can only be doing you good :)

Love your username cankles it sounds like you've made some positive changes. Hopefully if you are feeling better now a bit more water and being more active will put you on the right track.

Canklesforankles · 13/01/2020 19:31

Good question Well. I started thinking I would try 16:8 as that fits in with work pattern. Then ate breakfast second half of week as feeling low level unwell. So if I’m honest did a few days of 16:8. Got constipated and virally. Stopped dieting and just ate healthily.

Actually that’s helpful.

Canklesforankles · 13/01/2020 19:35

Thanks “Patch”. Have been taking flask of water to work. I might take yogurt and muesli for lunch.
I have realised that I facilitate every else’s activities but don’t prioritise own exercise. I’m like the family kit man but I need to give myself some time on the pitch!

jelly79 · 13/01/2020 20:02

Hello all ;)

It's Monday weigh in and I am 4lb down! Really pleased and gave me a proper boost!

I exercised a lot over the last few days and really didn't eat enough so yesterday felt rubbish!

B: missed due to work
L: king prawn linguine and an apple
T: chicken and barley soup

I have lots of calories left and I feel pretty hungry but no appetite, I just don't fancy anything. I think maybe a bit of stress causing this but hopefully it will have the right effect 😂

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 20:12

Well done jelly! That’s amazing!

I’ve still got 170 cals left after I’ve just had a teeny portion of granola and yogurt with raspberries. Still a bit peckish but I’m going to try just leave it for tonight!

@WellErr I’m thinking about calorie counting. It’s impossible to do carbs as it’s very tempting with kids food so I know I’ll just end up breaking it. I’m wondering if 5:2 might be good - like 2 days low calories and
5 days normal cals.

@jelly79 well done!

I am an emotional eater and a bit low at the moment so been stuffing my face for past 2 days. Any tips for emotional eating?

toasterstrudle · 13/01/2020 21:00

I'm calorie counting and on the whole it's been working well apart from my period arriving yesterday and screwing my stats up! I definitely am slimmer though, clothes are fitting that havent in ages. I've also upped my exercise.

Today
B- skipped
L - veggie mince ragu with broccoli and a wee bit of cheese
T - tuna baked potato and salad

Ex - HIIT Step class. Savage.

I'm well under calories so may have a slice or two of toast with peanut butter before bed

Suzie567 · 13/01/2020 21:16

@toast that sounds really good but did u have any snacks? It’s day 1 for me tomorrow and I don’t think I can do without snacks!

Suzie567 · 13/01/2020 21:18

What app is everyone using for calorie counting? I’ve got Lifesum downloaded from last year not used yet will start first tomorrow

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 21:21

I use nutracheck. I like it as it’s had everything I’ve searched for so far, makes it much easier to be accurate. I weigh everything too.

I have the odd snack but I need to feel hungry to know it’s working. For snacks I have apples (50cals), bananas (85 cals) or a treat size bag of chocolate buttons (72cals), rather than cakes, toast or digestives.

Suzie567 · 13/01/2020 21:25

Thank you will try that app if mine doesn’t work well. I tend to eat all the kids snacks, and haven’t been able to last past day 5 of dieting in past. Wish me luck for tomorrow! Goodnight everyone

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 21:26

Good luck!!

Suzie I’m doing 5:2 and getting on pretty well with it. I’m not counting calories on non-fast days, but am actively trying to alter my mindset and habits, which does seem to be working. I find it really interesting how various diets suit us all so differently...

jelly79 · 13/01/2020 21:58

@Suzie567 sorry to hear that you are feeling low :( does exercise help? Walk / swim rather than emotional eating? Or maybe a nice bubble bath and a book?

I use my fitness pal and really like it!

toasterstrudle · 13/01/2020 22:25

@Suzie567 I dont really snack because I like bigger portions at meals although I definitely feel hungry in the evening. Have had a couple of cheats along the way so far too!!

toasterstrudle · 14/01/2020 07:28

Weigh in this morning since the period bloat is now gone.

Weight on 28/12 was 145.6lbs
Weight on 6/1 was 139.4lbs
Weight on 13/1 was 139.8lbs
Weight on 14/1 is 137.8lbs

Much better!

WellErrr · 14/01/2020 07:31

Well done toaster that’s brilliant!

Patchworksack · 14/01/2020 07:44

Well done toaster!
Good luck suzie what approach are you going to take this time? 16:8 is working out ok for me at the moment. I have just stopped buying biscuits etc for the kids because I'm fed up of them just disappearing, people not being hungry by dinner time and them sitting there as temptation. I got whinging the first week and said 'have some fruit' on repeat, but they got used to it pretty quickly. I'm focussing on having meals that contain some protein and lots of veg and either having a smaller portion of or replacing the carb element. The bit I find difficult is the evening when I would normally snack, so the cut off is helping with that (eat between 12-8pm). I'm trying to make it about positive changes not depriving myself. But there are lots of approaches so pick whatever you think you can sustain. The TV program 'how to lose weight well' is interesting - and the basic message is all the different diets work if you stick to them.

suzie one of the diets featured on the show was the serotonin diet - is it worth investigating that if boosting your mood is key to sucess? serotoninpowerdiet.com/
