I’ve been living off Brie and chocolate since December began and I’ve put weight on. Currently 9st4lbs and I want to be 8st10lbs.
Anyone with me!?

Going to try calorie counting but open to suggestions. I currently eat far to much crap which is the root of the problem.

I was down 2 pounds on Sat but ate very badly for the weekend . Back on track this morning. Not looming back , just forward !

Designerenvy · 13/01/2020 08:33

Looking

DontFundHate · 13/01/2020 09:16

Well done everyone.

I'm slowly making my way through reading the thread to pick up tips. I've started logging my calories today (old school pen and paper!) I may try to record later what I've had for your critique Crown Smile

HippoHips · 13/01/2020 09:19

I have finally lost some weight! Started on 2nd Jan at 66 kilos and the scales have begrudgingly shifted this morning to 64.6. The misery of dry January, sugarless coffee, and eating like a sparrow might actually be worth it.

Am now dreaming about the pigging out I’m going to do as soon as I’ve lost the 12 pounds (which probably defeats the object seeing as I don’t need to wear a bikini till June!) Grin

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 09:40

Well done everyone on your progress!
And thanks for sticking with us - this thread is really helping me to be accountable, and I can bore you all with my meal plans!

Hope it’s helping everyone else!

Right still reading through the thread, how do you all decide on a daily calorie limit?

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 10:09

My app (nutracheck) decided for me, based on current weight and height, and how much I want to lose

Thank you! So I've worked mine out I think, 1200kcal per day, but I've taken into account my exercise with this which would average out at 1400kcal per day which doesn't sound too awful

DontFundHate · 13/01/2020 10:40

What do you all do about takeaways etc? I figure if I plan to have one I could cut back more during the day to make up for it?

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 11:00

I don’t eat exercise calories, as I don’t see the point of exercising if you do 😂
Depends what you have for a takeaway. Your average fish and chips or curry, rice and naan will be about 1200-1500 calories alone, so I just avoid or make a healthier version.

Speaking personally, I have to stick rigidly to calories. If I start down the ‘oh it’s just today’ or ‘oh I’ll make up for it tomorrow’ lines then I just lose all resolve. But everyone is different!!
Or go to a healthier place, or one with calories already on the menu. I’m going to Wetherspoons for lunch today but I’ll have a child’s bean chilli and half a portion of chips probably. Still a nice lunch out, but it’ll be around 800cals with the chips. It’ll be the biggest meal I’ve had since starting, but I had an actimel and an apple for breakfast (about 70cals) so I’ll have about 4-500 cals left for supper.

I’ve been rigidly sticking to it for 2 weeks now and the change is noticeable now, it really works and it’s worth it! You find yourself choosing healthier things automatically after a while.

I'm back to the thread after failing again this weekend. Alcohol, lunch out, cake.

Breakfast--half a slice toast with jam
Lunch- will be spring greens frittata
Dinner-will be homemade cottage pie and veg.

I'm serious this time! Grin

Twixes · 13/01/2020 11:11

Woohoo to all the progress! I'm also doing well. I'm down 1.2kg from last monday! Which is apparently 2.6lbs!! I'm over the moon Grin this probably sounds mad but I actually feel a tiny bit less flabby already!

I've pretty much had a low ebb of hunger for at least a few hours each day over the last week. I'm convinced I need to feel hungry to lose weight.

Re. takeaways Dont I try to skip breakfast and lunch that day. It's bloody hard but it seems to work. Like yesterday I ate out and had a pizza and starter mid afternoon but ate nothing else all day bar a few spoonfuls of yoghurt. I'm not going to lie I had a grumbly tummy in bed last night but it seems to be paying off!

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 11:22

I'm convinced I need to feel hungry to lose weight.

Me too!

Me too! Grin good to hear I'm not the only one!

Food plan for today:

B: skimmed milk coffee 85
L: celery, potato and the last little bit of Christmas Stilton soup - 157 Cals
Mid-afternoon: Mediterranean salad 300~
D: prawn, rocket pasta. 600~

Exercise : 30 min HIIT, 1 hour spin class 💪🏻

Patchworksack · 13/01/2020 12:58

I have lost a pound this week, taking the grand total to three and weight to 9st11.
L Salad, grains and mackerel
D is in the slowcooker - sausage casserole which I have bulked out with extra veg - I will have some greens with it and a smaller portion.

WellErrr · 13/01/2020 13:11

Well done patchwork!

I’m currently in Wetherspoons having a treat! So today’s plan is -

B - actimel and a small apple, 72cals
L - Wetherspoons childs five bean chilli, half a portion of chips and a mini cookie dough sandwich with small Pepsi, 1118cals 😱😱😱 (most I’ve had since diet began..!)
D - 221cals left. Probably some yogurt, fruit and granola.

So I shouldn’t be over BUT I’m prepared to be 200 over today, as I’ve had a couple of days of 800-900 and I don’t want my body to go into starvation mode and hang onto the weight!

It really makes you think though. Before I might have had the fish and chips here, with a normal size cookie dough and a large Pepsi, which would have taken me over 2000!! And had a big bowl of cereal for breakfast and then had a normal dinner later on!

Baby steps--I had a cuppa after lunch but no biscuit or dessert.

It's a relevation toe that it's possible to drink tea without a biscuit, but I did it 💪

Bluewavescrashing · 13/01/2020 13:32

Revelation to me not toe

beela · 13/01/2020 14:42

Yay, I'm down too! I've lost 1.3kg this week.

There is definitely a lag, I reckon you need to give it at least a week before seeing a difference on the scales (also the reason it always seems as though I've gotten away with a big blowout meal, only to inexplicably gain weight half way through the next week).

DontFundHate · 13/01/2020 14:45

Thank you all for the advice. I definitely couldn't live without takeaway! So will just try to cut back during the day of the takeaway, to me it makes sense, I definitely don't want to deprive myself!

Today I've had / will have

B - porridge with apple, raisins and half tsp honey
L - leek and barley "risotto"
D - spag bol made mainly with veggies and 125g wholewheat spag
S - banana "crisps" about 100 kcal
Total 1100 kcal I think

DontFundHate · 13/01/2020 14:45

Plus I went for a run this morning

Patchworksack · 13/01/2020 16:56

It's actually quite eye opening how many calories are in a meal out! How is what sounds like a pretty restrained pub meal 1200 cals???

TheHoundsofLove · 13/01/2020 17:32

1200 calories is indeed shocking for a very restrained pub meal! Shock
Well, my fast day has gone well today - I managed to hold off until about half an hour ago when I had my dinner of a feta cheese and chive omelette. Exercise-wise, I've had a rest day today, but am planning a longish run for tomorrow morning.
I hope everyone else has had a decent start to the week.

I know!!! 😱

I was feeling the effects of the cookie dough though. It tasted nice but definitely wasn’t worth it. After not having much refined sugar for two weeks it was a total shock to the system, left me feeling just urgh!
