hi all
thought it was time we had a new thread

OP posts:
Katisha · 09/09/2007 20:42

Very quiet around here isn't it?

Thanks - the headaches are gone, although I did come down with a sore throat which I've still got, so maybe the headaches weren't low-carb related after all...

Have just had a rather large curry out - but no rice, bread, just a couple of poppadoms with those lovely chopped onions - they can't be too carby can they? The rest was MEAT MEAT and MEAT with some garlic mushrooms, spinach and cheese (forget what it's called) and some more MEAT. Unless the sauces were hugely carby I hope I haven't done too much damage. Managed to stay off the cobra...

I don't know how German food will be for low carbing Because. If you can do that continental breakfast thing of cold meat and cheese, and carry on in that vein you may be OK?

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/09/2007 20:44

Not sure about the poppadoms - I think you'll find they're more carby than you think? Sorry!

Katisha · 09/09/2007 20:47

Bah!

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/09/2007 20:49

But I'll try and find out!

superalienstitch · 09/09/2007 22:13

sorry, but poppadoms are pure carb.they arebasically fried batter type mix. would say worse than eating crisps, as at least crisps have some veg in them.
most indian food should be ok, as long as you stay away from rice naan etc.
have fun in germany biwi. and lots of luck too.

i have lost my face. . went down to 60.2 kg. but face gone all dark nd skeletal as well. so i will be upping my fruit intake. really really dont like the skull look. but on a good note, defintily a ten up top, and a ten bottom. in fact, if i wasnt so norkularly gifted, i might even be an 8 up top.
but must get some colour back in face....

superalienstitch · 09/09/2007 22:14

katisha, lots of vitamin c then. and zinc. helps you recover from colds faster.

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/09/2007 22:17

I know what you mean about the skeletal look. A friend of mine has lost loads and loads of weight - I think she's gone below 8 stone (and has been talking, worryingly, about needing to have more calories, suggesting that she's not been eating properly at all). She suddenly looks really, really old. I've notice when we've been out recently that she's been wearing a lot more make up than she does normally, and I'm sure she's trying to cover up her weight loss.

I know I want to lose some weight, but you can go too far!

Katisha · 09/09/2007 23:19

Ah well just the bloomin' poppadoms then. Ate two of the blighters, but no naan or rice or lager.

Yes - will take vit c although not sure if I have any with zinc in.

I'm developing rather a wierd mental picture of you SAS... I'm sure you can't really be looking like Voldemort(and I don't mean SWMNBN...)

stitch sometimes looking like this or even this

Katisha · 10/09/2007 10:49

So you have the body of the third one and the face of the second one. OK. Well that's not too bad then!

(I was denied access to the first one - is it terrible rude?)

superalienstitch · 10/09/2007 12:32

? no, its just a picture of stitch, from lilo andstitch. why was that denied?

Katisha · 10/09/2007 15:45

Dunno = work computer won't let me see it!

OrmIrian · 10/09/2007 15:59

Oh dear.

A few weeks ago my youngest asked me if jelly was good for you and I said only if it was made from real fruit so he said how d'you make jelly from fruit so I said I'd show him so this weekend we picked a load of blackberries and made bramble jelly as I like to encourage them to cook but he didn't like it so I've had to eat some - on brown bread and butter obviously....

That's my confession. If it's said really quickly no-one will notice will they ?

Katisha · 10/09/2007 19:52

Sorry Orm, what were you saying? You were talking so fast..

oggsfrog · 10/09/2007 19:53

Ah well, if it's confession time......

Bless me Carbers for I have sinned (and boy when I sin I do it in style ).
After doing absolutely brilliantly for a week I had a moment of madness today. Actually 15 minutes of madness during which I consumed in no paricular order, 2 ryvita w/ butter and marmite, 1 finger of a twix, a rocky bar, a caramel rocky bar, a chocolate chip cookie bar, a mini roll, half a raspberry yoghurt and a piece of shortbread, and 7 jelly beans of assorted flavours

There you go Orm. Does that make you feel better about your bread and jam?

Katisha · 10/09/2007 20:12

And there's me worrying about two blardy poppadoms! (Saintly )

Don't be a stranger SSS, and good luck - let us know how you get on

I think I may have to accept defeat again (she says sitting here eating a bowl of noodles ).
Low carb did work at first (beginning of 2006) and I lost a stone, but now whenever I do it (no matter how strict I am) I don't seem to be able to shift the pounds. I am noticeably less bloaty and windy agreed, but that seems to be the best I can achieve. It's not like my body can be saying I've reached my optimum weight as I know I need to lose at least another 2 stone.

Katisha · 11/09/2007 11:34

Have to admit it's the same here really Frog. So what should we do?

Exercise is great. I love it and it does tone and change your metabolism etc but it's very hard to really lose weight with exercise alone.

oggsfrog · 11/09/2007 20:55

Ah. Exercise. I seem to have forgotten about that bit

BIWI · 11/09/2007 20:57

Blimey, I feel like a real saint next to you lot!

superalienstitch · 13/09/2007 08:42

biwi, i sometims feel that waytoo.

noodles are baaaaddd. stay aaway from them.
just eat lots of fruit. good for you
excercise is soo improtant.but i ti has to be something you love. not somethn you have to do .
