Hello everyone.... DD is sleeping so I thought I'd check in....

Weighed myself this morning and have lost a whopping 5lb - can't believe it, and I'm really getting the hang of it.

Still having a daily coffee with a splash of milk (can't seem to give it up...) but it doesn't seem to be affecting me.

The only this is the constipation - drinking lots (2litres a day) and taking a fibre supplement. Will I eventually get back in a normal 'rhythm'?

Hope the weather perks up for you strawberry

cylon · 19/08/2007 17:02

AS, INDUCTION IS terrible for constipation. it should sort itself out soon.

kami, i am 30% fat. its down from the forty it was eigh tmonth ago, but still too much fat? and i have been so pleaesd with myself for losting so much wieght etc, but machine in shopping centre sys i am only on verge of being healthy. so must continue low carbing.

Hellooooo!

Back on wagon. After this many weeks eating increasing amounts of junk I am actively craving grilled fish and salad. If I see another chocolate biscuit or scone I shall throw..... And I've overdone the wine a little too . And it all shows on my well-upholstered hips..dammit

OrmIrian · 22/08/2007 13:19

Is anybody there...air....air .....air...... (that's an echo by the way)

Doing OK. Appetite shrinking a bit already (mainly because I don't really fancy what I can eat I think. Cravings fading. No difference to big hips and wobbly tummy though.

kamikazeyed - I add oats in once I'm off induction. And lentils and brown rice. Only in small quantities but I like them, they add veriety (not to mention roughage) and they are basically lovely nutritious foods. My favourite breakfast is berries with a sprinkling of oats and a good dollop of greek yoghurt. I know that my main problem is wheat which makes me bloat and crave, and most processed sugary foods.

cylon · 22/08/2007 15:00

helllooooo all. am a very happy bummy. this morning the macine said, 60.4 kg, or 9 stone 7 pounds! yeahhhh.....
can see it in my clothes as well
so, i once again need to buy new clothes as all my wintery ones are size 16, or 14. and i am definitly now 10 top, and 12 bottom, though have ben able to squeeze into 10 bottom. yeahhhh

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 22/08/2007 15:05

Well done cyclon!! Fantastic.

I don't think I'll ever see a size 10. I'm in awe

cylon · 22/08/2007 15:09

oi, you had a lot to do with my continueing on with the atkins.

but i do think the shops have definitly resized there clothes. when i was yojnger i remember being a 10-12 when i was a mahoosive 53 kg. so how can i be the same size now, at 7 kilos or 16 pounds more? especially with post three children tummy?

still got a way to go though. my target is 57 kilo's or 9 stone, and this last stone is really really hard to shift. but getting there

OP posts:
cylon · 22/08/2007 15:09

oi, you are ver tall arent you? i think when you are taller, it is harder to be skinnier? or is that just urban mythg type stuff?

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 22/08/2007 16:53

Yes I'm tall - nearly 6ft so I suppose a size 10 would be a little skinny for me. Like to get the chance to find out though I'm still hovering between a large 12 and a small 14.

I agree about the clothes sizings. I was a small size 16 in my teens when I was about 10 stone and not in the slightest overweight.

Hello all (if anyone is there...) New name, new determination. (Crotchety was getting a bit embarrassing when people got the urge to shorten it...)

I'm back from my exertions in the mountains of Snowdonia which required much beer and a lot of chips ahem.

So second day back on the wagon and feeling pretty hungry. If I get stuck again at 12 st I shall have to try the meat fest for three days but I'll see how it goes in the meantime. This time I mean business and really want to get a stone off. 11st is quite a good weight for me. 12 st isn't.
10 and a half would be better but I can never keep that low.

battlestar · 29/08/2007 23:01

hello everyone.
we're not a very chatty bunch are we?
katisha, try the stillman thing suggestetd by becauseimworth it.s he said t o do fie grams carbs a day for first three days, getting themony from lean meat fish. then moving on to induction. would that be a possible?

i have a been meaning to ask you all. isit enough to not gain weight?as i'm just not happy withthe weight not going down fast enoguh? it shows on my face, so i up my carb values because i dont want the blotchy dark circle under eyes look. or shoudl i stick it out with that look adn see if it moves off my stomach, and aim to redo my face later with lotsof fruti? (i'm cylon)

Katisha · 29/08/2007 23:36

Oh hello cylon - this name changing is all very disconcerting!

Yes I think I might have a go at that meat/egg thing soon but I feel I need a bit longer getting back in the swing. I think I'll actually wait until I get stuck, which will inevitably happen.

To have a go at your question I'm not sure that you can dictate where you lose the weight without maybe doing some specific ecercise to tone up. Would more water help maybe? (Not speaking from experience here...)
They do say that once you get to a certain age (which I'm sure you are not yet at) it's a bit of a choice between body and face ie nice thin body can make you look a bit drawn facially. Hope this isn't true...

battlestar · 29/08/2007 23:42

well, i'm 34 going to be 35. i didnt think i had gotten either that old, or that thin yet.
i do excercise, but need the kids back at school before doing more. butyes, i think my water may have levelled off. somaybe should drink more.

OrmIrian · 30/08/2007 13:39

battlestar - I am 42 and the first thing people said to me after I'd lost the first stone or so was 'haven't you lost a lot of weight'. After the second stone it was 'Oooh have you been ill' . I do tend to get black rings under my eyes which did get worse when I started losing weight. And TBH they are still there to a certain extent. But mum has them too so I think it's to do with face shape and genetics as much as anything. And you are younger than me of course

I would drink plenty of water, take exercise to help you tone the bits you want slimmer and don't try to lose weight too quickly.

oggsfrog · 31/08/2007 14:03

Can I come back...... please????

Katisha · 31/08/2007 14:32

Course you can Frog! But I thought you were defecting to the Vale of Jason? Or low GI?

I'm making some chocolate fudge at the moment BUT I AM NOT GOING TO EAT ANY OF IT. (Apart from a small check that it's not disgusting obviously...)

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/08/2007 14:55

Hello all! Can I jump on this thread/bandwagon?

I'm a long term low carber, but have never reached my target of 9 stone. I started in around 2003 and managed to get down to 9.3 at my lowest. Pre holiday this year I think I was around 9.4 - and had that lovely feeling of being able to put on which ever t-shirt I wanted without having to check if it was too clingy.

A month later, things are no longer so enjoyable! I have had a month off (which I knew I would do and allowed myself to do) and get back on the LC wagon on Monday.

I don't know how much weight I've put back on but it must be at least half a stone.

I'm starting on Monday doing the Stillman thing (or the three day experiment as it's known on the low carb site I use) and then on to induction.

I have a week in Barbados to look forward to in October so would like to shed this weight before then!

Katisha · 31/08/2007 15:54

Hello! Welcome!
9st? ??????????

Moving on (before I choke) how do you find that 3 day thing? I think I really must have a go as I invariably get stuck forever at 12 st. these days, since getting down to 11 a couple of years ago. Does it really work? What's the low carb site you use?

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/08/2007 16:58

www.low-carbdiet.co.uk

It's a good site and very supportive - but much quieter than MN!

I find the 3 day thing very useful to get me back on track quickly. If you do register with the low carb site, go to 'Other Plans' and you'll find a whole thread about it/the rules.

There are 2 things about doing it - you have to be very organised and make sure you have suitable foods in the house. And it's dull! I have to have my head in the right place to do it - you can't be half-hearted about it. But if you've been overdoing the carbs, you should be able to lose between 3-5lbs.

When you come off it - i.e. day 4, you have to introduce carbs gradually, not just go straight back to even induction levels (20g), by adding just a small handful of salad leaves to your meals.

LOL at your spluttering over 9 stones - but I'm short and actually could really do with aiming at 8.7 (but as I haven't managed to get to 9 stone, let's not be too hasty!)

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 17:01

OOOh......I haven't been there for yeeeaarss BIWI!! Used to go but sort of know what I'm doing now (in an unorthodox way) and it is a very slow site although incredibly useful.

Anyway I had a dust up a there while back about extended bfing and working mothers which left me feeling a trifle disillusioned and not totally comfortable.

Hips - 38.5, waist - 28.5. Don't know my weight but don't really care. Back to sort of where I was before so that's OK
