hi all
thought it was time we had a new thread

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 31/08/2007 17:13

OOoooh did I miss a fight?! When was that? Did you use a different posting name?

I try to make sure that I check into the site at least once or twice a day. It's part of keeping me on track. I don't really follow any particular plan though, just generally low carb. Which is probably why I've never reached my target!

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 17:13

I was joesmum. And it was about 18m ago I think.

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/08/2007 17:15

I remember you but I don't remember the fight.

I post there under Alison P - hope I didn't get into a fight with you!

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 17:16

No I shouldn't think so. I don't make a habit of fighting with people Because

oggsfrog · 31/08/2007 17:19

Your waist is not much bigger than one of my bloody thighs

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 17:49

Don't be oggs. I may be slimmer from the waist down but I am big across the top half. Not norks, just rib cage and shoudlers. Feel like the incredibly hulk's sister sometimes .

oggsfrog · 31/08/2007 18:59

I really am in need of a friendly, non-judgemental yet reinforced wagon.

I am absolutely appalled at myself.

I worked for a year and a half to lose 2st and get down to 12st - gave myself two weeks off which turned into five weeks - and have gained over a stone back

So, as of this morning, back on bloody induction.

I can't trust myself to keep to Low GI. I'm an all or nothing type.

So here I am again.....embarrassed, angry at myself, unable to fit into all but one pair of trousers, and desperately hoping that I can kick start and then maintain weight loss......again.

oggsfrog · 31/08/2007 19:06

Oops..........almost forgot... welcome BIWI .

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 19:09

Well in that case...welcome back oggs! You know you can do it, you know it works. You'll lose most of that in the first month. I've managed to lose most of what I put on in the first few weeks but so much of it is retained water. I'm sure you'll find the same.

Non-judgemental but gently firm to a fault here.

oggsfrog · 31/08/2007 20:26

Just what I need Orm thanks.

I'm especially conscious of my weight because I've been having trouble with my knee and have been referred to a specialist. I know they will say that all this excess weight is not doing me any favours.

I lost 10lbs on my very first two week induction, back in Jan 2006 (mostly fluid I know). Don't somehow think I'll be duplicating that, but hey, I'm back on track again at least.

I can't believe how bloody stupid I've been. I've made an absolute pig of myself.

superalienstitch · 31/08/2007 21:07

lol oggy,love your picturisation.

i've had enough of the scienc3efiction nmes, andam now back to good old disney. (tis me, cylon, aka battlestar, aka stitch)

oggy, you can do it.
wecan all do it.
we will do it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/09/2007 11:50

Having time off is very seductive, isn't it?!

I was only going to have the 2 weeks of my holiday off, which has suddenly turned into 5.

The other problem about having time off, for me, is that I eat really badly as well - no concerns about watching fat/calories, etc, so no wonder the weight piles on!

superalienstitch · 01/09/2007 18:58

[shmefaced stitch]
i had a blueberry muffin today.
and a burger bun
and a potato, but only a little one.

and yesterday i had white pitta bread.
and some naan bread.

this morning i was backup to 61.0. i neeeeeeed to make it below 60 kilos.

mazzystar · 01/09/2007 21:59

hello

may i join in?

am a newbie to all this. used to be able to shift any weight with low fat eating and lots of exercise but two babies abd two c/s later I can't cope with the hunger of the former and don't have the time or energy for the latter.

i've been following india knight's atkins-lite diet for about a month and lost a stone. two more to go. am getting a bit bored i must say and need some inspiration for meals.

you all sound like old hands - what are your suppertime standbys?

superalienstitch · 01/09/2007 22:28

sausages. we eat lots of sausaes in our house.
andeggs
and salmon
but mainly sausages. the kids love them you see. and i dont have to do separete meals .

oggsfrog · 02/09/2007 07:45

Well done Mazzy, that's great progress . Have you joined the pig2twig website? I lurk there occasionally (I find it a bit hard to navigate tbh), but it has a great thread by Bee(?) with loads of meal ideas.

I usually just have chops/steak/chicken/salmon with veg/salad and omit the potatoes.

Curry/spag bol with shredded cabbage/courgette instead of rice/pasta.

Home made pizza - instead of a bread base half a big courgette lengthways pre-cook then use this as a base.

A huge prawn cocktail salad.

mazzystar · 02/09/2007 18:51

thanks for that tip oogs, nice site, lots of food ideas and sensible advice.

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/09/2007 08:30

Right - day 1, and I've just braved the scales!

10.1 - which, if I'm honest, isn't that bad given what I've eaten (and drunk ) over the last 5 weeks.

I was going to do the 3 day experiment, but I had forgotten that I have a lunch appointment tomorrow, so not quite sure what I'm going to do. I think today will be about keeping the carbs as low as possible, and take it from there.

Katisha · 03/09/2007 10:03

Sorry to keep banging on about the 3 day experiment and not actually doing it, but Because, you feel it's better to start with it and then do induction, rather than wait and use it as a stall buster? Why is that?

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/09/2007 10:06

It's not a stall buster. It's for when you've been overdoing the carbs. (Atkins has something called the Fat Fast which is used for stalls, I believe).

I just know that for me it works - not only in terms of getting some weight off quickly but, more importantly actually, it gets my head back into low carbing as it's so focused.

It's not for everyone - and I don't do it that often!

Katisha · 03/09/2007 10:38

Ah right - I'd been confusing them thinking they were the same thing. Have had a look at the fat fast and it's completely different.

OrmIrian · 03/09/2007 11:06

3DE works well but you do need to ease back into the carbs slowly. I didn't the 2 times I did it and put a lot of the weight back on. But it's a great stall buster nonetheless.

I still beleive (sadly) that lc isn't good for steady weight loss below your comfort weight. My comfort weight is around 10s 9/10 and I really really struggle to get below that and keep it off, 3De or not. My ideal weight is apparently about 10s4 which I'm never going to reach short of cutting off a limb.

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/09/2007 11:13

Ah yes, the one leg look - an especially attractive one!

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/09/2007 08:12

So how does the carboholics thread work, generally? Do we report what we've been doing/daily and/or weekly weigh-ins?

OrmIrian · 04/09/2007 08:14

Well as far as I can see we mostly use it to confess

But whatever you feel like really. Beg ..nay demand ..support, report successes, ask for help.
