Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Please could I join too? I'd been doing really well before the school holidays, lost half a stone, feeling much better.

A few weeks of looking after small grumpy DC full time and I am a wreck who wants to live off chocolate and gin

I have three stone to lose by next May (family wedding with lots of photos!) so a stone/ stone and a half by Christmas would be a great start Grin

Pinkroseuk · 16/08/2019 23:12

Hi can I join in please? I have gone from 104 to 87.4kg but my goal is 74.
Hoping to reach it by Christmas so this will be 1kg a week!
Going mainly low carb and upping the exercise another notch to try and get it kickstarted again!

GiggleMcDimples · 16/08/2019 23:15

I'd like to join in please. 2 years ago I lost 6 stone but I've put 2 stone back on and I'd like to lose what I put on hopefully before my hysterectomy the end of October. Ot and least a stone and half. I tend to like slimming world as it's what I did to lose the weight in the first place. And I exercise quite a bit.

DakotaFanny · 17/08/2019 00:22

Me please! Although I’m holding my hands up right now and saying I won’t be properly on it till September when normal life resumes. Off on holiday next week and currently perusing nice salad recipes (willing!) whilst drinking wine and eating popcorn (not yet able) so very much still in holiday mode.

But September 2nd...new job, new life. I would love to lose 7kg by Christmas, and another 7 by Easter when I go to Disney! I will not feel like this in those water parks with the kids!!

Am I allowed to watch from the sidelines for two weeks and then dive in whole heartedly?

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/08/2019 06:57

Welcome to everyone!

I would like to join you lovely ladies too please. I started running in April amd while I am definitely fitter I have definitely overcompensated with food. I have ordered scales which arrive today and started following slimming world again this morning. I work in pounds so will aim to lose 5 pounds each month. I will be back to post my starting weight once the scales arrive.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 17/08/2019 10:05

I need to join you all too!
Hooefully having to 'report in' will help keep me on the straight and narrow. I am old school, so still working in stones and pounds I am afraid. I want to lose 2.5 stone eventually, aiming for a stone off by Xmas.
I know i could lose more, but I am determined not to diet (5:2 worked brilliantly for me last year), but to change what I eat and particularly drink.
I am also finding the older I get, the harder it is to shift weight, so my plan is:

  • Stop drinking alcohol during the week. I am drinking too much, simple as that.
  • Cut down on bread, potatoes, crisps. I eat far too much of all of these.
  • Have chocolate as a treat, not a daily occurance 😶

My diet has gone to shite, so aiming to reeducate myself!

Friday is weigh in day, so my weight yesterday was
11st 2lbs
70kg
156lbs

Good luck to eveyone, and lets hope we keep this thread going and supportive 😁

Toooldtobearsed2 · 17/08/2019 10:08

Oh, forgot - exercise!
I walk dogs for 1.5 - 2hrs per day and thats about it at moment. Cannot run, knees are knackered, hate cycling with a passion, cannot get to a gym, so any ideas to up my exercise/toning ratio would be very welcome😊

MercuryRising · 17/08/2019 10:47

So my new scales arrived... my official starting weight is 12.10. I don't intend to ever see that number again!

Triceratopmeup · 17/08/2019 14:25

Count me in too please!! I initially joined the lose 7lbs in aug thread, but a 10 day holiday soon ruined that!! Blush Starting weight of 10st this morning, target of 9st 7lbs... I'm hoping this will be a case of slow & steady wins the race!!!

Triceratopmeup · 17/08/2019 14:29

@DakotaFanny I'm in the same position as you! Hoping to keep my eating, & more importantly my drinkin, in check for the next 2 weeks & then start back on the exercise once the kids are back to school in Sept Hmm

kitkat6 · 17/08/2019 16:06

Hi ladies can I join you please, I am aiming at 1-2lbs a week off from now until May next year. I allowing for a few off weeks. I am on calorie counting with my fitness pal and currently on 1800kcals per day. I have lost 4lbs over 2 weeks so far.

RubySlippers77 · 18/08/2019 00:01

@DakotaFanny me too.... waiting for September so I have a bit of time to take stock of everything, get organised, clean the house, cook some healthy meals etc!! At the moment everything is fire fighting and trying to tame tornado toddlers Sad

@Toooldtobearsed2 there is an app called Gixo which my friend with similar health problems loves, have you seen that? Suggests workouts for every fitness level/ requirement. Fitness Blender also has loads of videos to try and I know people who love Yoga with Adrienne, if that might be your thing. I walk a lot too, went to the gym a lot before DC, but for a workout now I use my 30 Day Shred DVD when I can be bothered

booktrotter · 18/08/2019 00:11

Hi everyone. I'm on the last night of my holidays. Travel home tomorrow and know that tomorrow will be a write off ( late takeaway supper ) BUT online food ordered for Monday am and good decisions made there. May I join to make myself accountable? My dh and I did blood sugar diet three years ago and lost 3 stone in 12 weeks. I've put 2 back one 🤦‍♀️ mostly wine. So I'm ready to get back on it. Also going to start the gym when kids are back at school. Even toying with s stint of a personal trainer to bully me as a substitute for willpower. My eldest has gcse results next week which means s family meal out to celebrate his hard work ( whatever the results) then We have our wedding anniversary end of August which means another night out. Other than that I NEED to make this work. I'm aiming for a drop of two dress sizes by Christmas, for me that's two stone. I did it before, here's hoping I can do it again!

Rezie · 18/08/2019 14:01

mememe! I want to join.

I weigh 84kg so the target for christmas would be 76kg. I feel like I need accountability to make it work.

My main issue is portion size. Additionally I like take aways and I do regular borng office job and when I'm just sitting at a computer I get hugry out of boredom. My trainer started to reccomend calculating macros but I shot that down. I've tried a few things but I never stick with it. I feel like I need a wake up call to be able to do it, but i really cannot wait till i get that point.

I'm going to give the following "diet" a try. I know it's not the reccomended diet but I feel like this might work. My main thing is that the diest shouldn't limit my social life and I'm not gonna count or waight anything. This is something I'll try and change accordingly

Breakfast: Fruit
Lunch: whatever I've made (main meal of the day)
Bored snack: cucumber/popcorn (no salt or fat)/carrots
Pre-workout snack: oatmeal
Dinner: rye bread (cheese and turkey) and quark with berries
Night snack (If needed): fruit

On the nights when I'm going out or visiting bf or parents then I'll swap the lunch and dinner.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 18/08/2019 14:12

I'm going to start posting my B, L, D with calories to shame myself.

B: smoothie (banana/berries/milk) (200?)
L: salad sandwich and a family size bag of crisps (whoops) (600?)
S: two bags of chocolate animals (200)
D: some sort of celery/broccoli thing I made, think it's low cal (300).

Total: call it 1500. I had a sneaky weigh in this morning and seem to have lost a kg. Although it will be probably be back tomorrow.

Current weight: 74.6 - 10 kg to go.

OP posts:
Triceratopmeup · 18/08/2019 14:47

I'll do likewise, which will hopefully keep me on the straight & narrow.

B- 2 x weetabix with semi skimmed milk & a clementine
L- Chive & onion bagel with low fat houmous & a strawberry Muller Light yoghurt
S- 4 squares of Cadbury fruit & nut with a cup of tea
D- Haven't a clue as I'm currently half way through a 12 hour shift.

Total cals so far today 772 to be precise Grin

Triceratopmeup · 18/08/2019 14:51

Also weighed in this morning at 9st 13.5lbs.

KTD27 · 18/08/2019 16:07

Well yesterday I had the day off of all days off. A birthday brunch with my sisters all you can eat drink and boy was there drink.
Anyway. It’s done. Today was:
B - field mushroom and shallot omelette
Snack - carrot sticks and hula hoops. Classic combo
Lunch - chicken sausages with new potatoes and chillis
Dinner - balsamic pork with swede and carrot mash.
Comes in at around 1200 for the day

kitkat6 · 18/08/2019 23:40

I made it to a 1700kcal day today which even included a large glass of wine. The weight loss lady I am working with reduced my calories from 1800 to 1700 today so that will take a little working out over the next few days. My day tomorrow is all over the shop with meetings from 11am until about 7pm.

KTD27 · 19/08/2019 09:51

Morning all. Last minute decision to take the kids out for a trip today. Inevitably this will mean pizza express. Sigh. Leggera pizza it is then I guess! Have planned salmon for this evening and a body pump class so hopefully won’t do too much damage

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 19/08/2019 10:00

Hi ladies

I’d love to join. I’m at 79kg and would like to be 74 by Christmas. I exercise loads but unfortunately stuff my face to compensate. I’m cutting down drinking to one night a week as well. I think that’ll make a big difference for me as even just one glass of wine makes me crazy hungry in the morning.
Good luck all!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 19/08/2019 16:18

B: 2 oatcakes peanut butter
L: homous/avocado wrap and potato wedges
D: tin of tomato soup & two slices bread & butter.

Not great, but not too bad either. I think maybe around 1200 cals.
The kg I lost is still off Grin but this is the weight I always get to and then never get any further! 74.1kg. 10kg to go.
