Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Brilliant news @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin! (About the weight loss not the treats Grin)

4lb off for me today, which obviously I'm really pleased about. Sadly another 43lb to go though. Sigh!

I'd like to be down to 12st by the time we go away for a family wedding in 15 weeks. Currently 13st 7lb so it's doable at 1.5lb per week. Just need to stick at it.....

Has anyone upped their exercise a lot by the way? I'm walking more (have borrowed a neighbour's dog to help!) but still can't find the time for 'formal' exercise. Would love to as I really miss the gym but it's not possible with the DC still small and DP such a moaner when I go out

KTD27 · 13/01/2020 21:28

I’m still plugging away at the kettlebells @Ruby I find I have weeks where I really plan it in during DDs nap and I’m great. And then weeks when it fails off. Then I pick it up again and can’t walk for a week Smile

RubySlippers77 · 13/01/2020 21:48

I found it much easier when my DC were little @KTD27 - they would nap/ play in their jumperoos (ah how I miss the jumperoos!) and I could crack on with a workout. Now they either join in and get in the way or whinge because they're not getting any attention. Very frustrating!

I'm trialling the new Davina website at the moment, hopefully that will prove useful Smile

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 14/01/2020 13:17

I was back up at 75.1 this morn so treats = kg unfortunately. lol.

today:
B: mushrooms/beans/egg and 4 oatcakes
L: salad
D: fried aubergine and yoghurt
S: could have almost not had a snack today but just fell over in the kitchen and hurt my hand and had a Wispa to cheer myself up.

Ruby congratulations on your 4lb by the way, that's an amazing result!!

And do make time for yourself even if DP moans, it's good for your mind and soul too x

Oh bugger @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin! There’s no way that can be calories in! Must just be water retention or salt.

Rezie · 17/01/2020 07:37

Last week 81.2kg
This week 80.8 kg

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/01/2020 14:04

I have a new plan! Was reading about people who only eat one meal a day but basically eat their 1200 cals in that meal and they lose loads of weight, so they keep a four hour window to eat that in then fast the rest of the time, I know this intermittent fasting but it just seems better in some way?! Maybe because I like the idea of stuffing myself Grin . Plan starts tomorrow. Window is 10am - 2pm.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/01/2020 14:05

Rezie that's amazing!! Well done!

Rezie · 17/01/2020 14:48

Thanks @2slices!
Eating once a day sound interesting. Please do some good reading so you know how long it is good to do that. Also let your body to adjust to changes. It can take up to 20 days for body to adjust to the new diet!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 18/01/2020 08:46

Thanks Rezie i will!

I have been doing a lot of reading/watching about it today and am very inspired! People have lost tons and from early on.

I've decided to go with the 'one hour eating 23 hours fasting' thing - it was hard getting to lunch time today but I had loads of tea! Now had: pasta/bolognese/cheese/potato salad/2 slices of fruit toast and butter. Quite a lot of carbs reading that back.... but anyway. Totally stuffed. That's it til this time tomorrow! Will report back on weightloss. (Hopefully)

@2slices I have seen that too! OMAD I see a lot of success on the reddit threads I follow. I actually think it’s not a horrendous idea I’m just not sure when I’d choose to eat my meal. Dinner would be safest for me so i hadn’t opened the eating window long before bed but not sure I could get through the day without something. It will be super interesting to hear how you get on! Good luck.
@Rezie great job!
I drank far too much Prosecco last night at a friends 40th. Now remembering why dry January is a good idea. Too old for this!

RubySlippers77 · 20/01/2020 11:00

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin good luck with the once a day eating, let us know how you find it! I don't think I could manage it as I'm already starving by the time I'm home from dropping the DC at school - it's about a 45 minute walk there and back - plus I'm fairly active but clearly not active enough throughout the day.

Well done @Rezie on your weight loss!

@KTD27 I love Prosecco. It does not love me Sad hangovers and small DC do not mix well Sad Sad

I've had an utterly rubbish weekend, heavy AF and just felt terrible the whole time. Tired, heavy, nauseous, pains, the works. Ate tons of chocolate as it was the only thing that actually tasted nice (awful excuse, I know!). Meals were all prepped but then DP would whine that he didn't want to eat it and should we go out to eat?! Frankly I would rather have stayed in than waste money on eating something out that I wasn't going to enjoy whilst looking after DC who won't sit bloody still at the best of times, but then he would have moaned about that too, so it was the lesser of two evils just to go out..... back to normal today though.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 20/01/2020 12:47

Hello, soon-to-be-skinnies!

Ok, an update on the OMAD.....it's definitely not as bad as you think it would be! 1kg down already (75.1kg this morn) and it's been FINE! haven't snapped yet.

Day 3. I'm basically having my 'eating hour' as 12pm-1pm and this is the daily routine:
B: coffee with a bit of cream milk
S: coffee with a bit of full cream milk (so i guess that's not really fasting?!)
L: spag bol, 8 oatcakes with honey, 1 x fruit yoghurt
S: tea
D: nothing.

I'd say I'm having around 1000 cals a day total probably but mostly at lunch time apart from the coffees.

A lot of what I have read is that people feel tired/lethargic etc - I am feeling the total opposite which may be because I have had gallons of caffeine and not a lot of food to absorb it (?) but I feel totally energetic. Can 'see' the difference already as well. But this is the day I will know if there is going to be a change as I can never seem to get past this 75kg mark. So fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Ruby I hope your prepped meals got put in the freezer to make your life easier on another day when you can't be bothered cooking! What did you eat when you went out? Hope you are feeling better x

And you too KT, hope the prosecco hangover wore off, although it does seem to take days longer these days doesn't it!

For you! @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin bravo!

KTD27 · 22/01/2020 07:47

Eugh. I weighed yesterday as a cheeky pre weigh in before today which is my ww meeting. Had been so good and defo lost at least 2lbs. This morning I’m up! How?! Not sure what the ‘official’ scales will show tonight but I’m not happy with my own ones in the very least

RubySlippers77 · 22/01/2020 10:39

How does that work @KTD27?! Every time we think we have this weight loss figured out, something trips us up.....!

I used to weigh in before SW/WW too, to avoid any nasty surprises at the scales and have time to get any excuses ready Grin

My SW online membership expires next month, not sure whether to renew. On the one hand I do find it useful, on the other it's £20 per month and I don't know if I can justify the cost, particularly as I don't use any of the community sections. Will decide nearer the time.

And well done @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin!!

Rezie · 22/01/2020 11:05

I'm going to say something obvious which everybody knows but I've kind of acknowledged and accepted it. It's taken me about 10 years to from my goal weight to this weight. I doubt I've gained weight steadily every week/month/year, I'm sure some years I've remained the same and some years I've gained significantly more. Weight loss won't be steady every week. It's really hard for me to accept that it doesnt work the way I want it to. Gym day today 💪

KTD27 · 22/01/2020 11:46

@Rezie you’re right. I find it very frustrating when I’m not ‘rewarded’ on the scales for my efforts. Like a toddler really Smile I find the mental struggle harder than the actual physical hunger or anything
I don’t think I’ve ever accepted - and will undoubtedly struggle to accept in the future - that I can’t eat what I’d like to and not put on weight. It sounds RIDICULOUS written down but I haven’t ever shaken off the mindset of the 16 / 17 year old girl who never struggled with her size and could eat and drink what she liked. I haven’t in fact accepted I’ve had to strive to be thinner for the majority of my life. That sounds depressing and I don’t mean it negatively. Just that this is something I’ll have to be mindful of forever. It will be a ‘Battle’ until it’s an ingrained habit and I’m maintaining well at a healthy weight. I’m so so determined to do it though. Hopefully that’s the difference

Rezie · 22/01/2020 12:12

I remember when I first thought I was fat. Like wtf? That's 10kg less than my goal weight. I was so skinny back then.

One hard thing for me is also to accept that excercise is not the answer. I love always been active and I love sports. But knowing that an hour of excercise is like half a donut. Yes, there are millions other benefits and it's the reason I do it. But seriously, why can't it help more?!

RubySlippers77 · 23/01/2020 10:47

Ha @Rezie, I agree..... first time I joined WW I was 11st 5lb. Thought I was incredibly tubby. I'm currently 2st above that and it feels like a mountain to climb to get back to that weight!!

I enjoy sports too (well, when I don't have small DC hanging off me) and it's great for my self confidence, happiness etc..... but does it help my weight loss? Probably not much Sad

@KTD27 sadly I've never been able to eat and drink what I wanted, BUT I had several years of being a healthy weight and looking good on it. Sometimes I still can't believe that the chubby person in the mirror is me. But unfortunately it is!
