Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Go steady on your knee running Rezie. It can have a really heavy impact and you don’t want to reinjure it. Would power walking work instead? (Not slating running- I love running and it’s such good bang for your buck calorie burning wise, but I have had very painful knees at times. I read something once about calorie burn and power walking being just as good as running but less impactful).

As for the takeaways....meh! Onwards and upwards.

KTD27 · 04/09/2019 07:01

Weigh in tonight will three good days ‘outweigh’ 4 bad ones... shall see
Supposed to be taking my two gremlins out today but is HORRIBLE weather so might need an indoor plan or change of destination. Am going to have a good filling breakfast so wherever we go I don’t choose the worst thing on the menu for lunch

MonkeysaurusRex · 04/09/2019 07:16

Weighed in this morning and 2lbs down, which I am more than happy with considering I've had a couple of days going over my calorie allowance :-)

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 04/09/2019 16:07

Good luck with the weigh in KT.
Incredible result Monkeys!! How many calories a day are you sticking to? well done.

Also had a sneaky weigh in this morning and after the fasting day yesterday, (which ended in a non fasting dinner?!) I was up at 75.4kg again!! Gaaah.

Anyway, am just trying to be sensible.
B: yoghurt, granola, berries. (? 200?)
S: banana (70)
L: 3 bean wrap & packet of crisps (500)?
S: one kit kat finger (100)
D: half a cheese omlette (200)

1170

I'm still hungry which is hopefully a good sign and means a few grams off by tomorrow.

Whooo! 2lb off this week. Miraculous stuff after the weekend but I suspect sober September might have something to say for itself.
Right. That brings me back to a 5lb loss since August need to keep this pace up to give myself a Christmas cushion Grin

DakotaFanny · 04/09/2019 20:13

Only 0.4 lbs for me on week one. Gutted. I’ve been under calorie burn every day and 5/7 I’ve been under by more than 600 calories, so should have lost at least a pound. Bit weird, but trying to stay cool about it. Pfft.

KTD27 · 04/09/2019 21:20

Oh Dakota that’s a total ball ache. I’d be annoyed too. Well done for trying to stay cool about it. I’m sure you’ll lose a shed load next week

MonkeysaurusRex · 04/09/2019 23:17

Trying to stick to around 1200 but haven't managed that everyday. Also trying to stick to low fat, ideally below 5g per 100g the majority of the time - in particular for lunch and dinner, as that is what I was following when I had gallbladder problems and lost lots then. But not being as strict with it as I was then so have only achieved the below 5% goal probably about 50% of the time over the last week. Need to give my willpower a boost lol.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 05/09/2019 03:22

You are all doing really well!! well done!!
Dakota it will suddenly woosh off so keep going!

74.7kg this morn.

Is it official weekly weigh in day today?
I had an Indian takeaway last night and am too scared that it has gone up since Thursday's weigh in.
I'm going to skip today and weigh in tomorrow instead! Although it still won't be very good!

67.5 k this morning, so have lost 2.5 k in 3 weeks.

I just do not get this losing weight lark. I have not lost a huge amount of weight by any means, but I have lost 5 inches off my waist since we started. 5 BLOODY INCHES!

Just realised, I am ahead - does that mean I can eat crap for my final week and still be on target? 😈

RubySlippers77 · 06/09/2019 11:09

@Toooldtobearsed2 that waist loss is amazing!!

I still haven't managed to make a proper start, but will be doing a big food shop at the weekend to help. The DC were supposed to be spending an afternoon with PIL so I could do loads of batch cooking, but PIL decided to go to a caravan show instead of looking after grubby, demanding small children. No idea why.....

Now school is back (HOORAY!!) I'll have some more free time to finally sort out all my cupboards, do some meal planning and actually cook!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 06/09/2019 18:08

I'm with you Ruby, haven't actually started properly.
Think I might do some cabbage soup this week or fried cabbage as a meal, to kick start things.

well done tools!

RubySlippers77 · 06/09/2019 23:06

I just can't get started properly 2Slices, all I need is maybe 3 or 4 hours to do meal planning and prepping and all would be good..... after that an hour here and there would do but until PIL are around more I'm a bit stuck!! DP is working tomorrow so no respite for me from the DTs. And I definitely am not doing a big shop with them in tow!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 07/09/2019 02:40

75kg here so pretty much where we started.

I was thinking of signing up to one of these meal delivery things, they are so good for weightloss but SO expensive, But just found a sample week's menu so am going to try and replicate it at home.

Hope you can get time Ruby for your meal planning and prep! it's not easy trying to fit it all in.

Started at 84kg
Now at 83.3kg
I guess my weigh in day is Saturday mornings. I would recommend having your weigh in in the mornings after using the toilet and being in your underwear/naked. This way it is the most consistent. Weigh can vary a lot in the evenings depending on the day.

Rezie · 07/09/2019 08:25

Thanks @DakotaFanny ! It was ok. The C25k programme is 3 times a week and I have done it twice. It has felt ok. I've been limping for 4 months so my back is not great, but it felt good enough to continue. Due to limping majority of excercise will cause the same ammount of problems. At this point of rehab it's time to try straight running and in a few months it's time to do quick turns etc. My plan today is to run to the gym. It's about 40 minute walk (usually cycle) so I think it is about 30 minutes with the c25k programme. It's just that it's raining like hell. We shall see 😁

I also thibk I'll write down positives and negatives of every week regarding weight loss.
+= I haven't had candy or chocolate at all this week. I went running even though I have it
-= i have had a few drinks this week that were really just extra and unnecessary.

Isittheend · 07/09/2019 23:40

Hi. I'd like to join. I have been dieting since March but have hit a bit of a plateau, so this might help kick start me again.
March weight - 89kg
Weight now - 67.6kg
Target for Christmas - 61kg.
My main method has been reducing carbs. 1400 calories a day.
Probably need to do more exercise to boost weight loss but not a big fan.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 08/09/2019 03:40

welcome isit - you've done really well already!
Rezie did you run? That's a long way :o
Ruby how's your meal planning going?

How's everyone else? Tools, Dakota, KT and Monkeys - and everyone else.

74.4kg this morning. I've cooked/planned out meals for the week. I've also decided to eat ahead of everyone else and just eat as soon as I get home from work at 4pm, this will a) mean a longer fasting time until breakfast and b) stop me binge eating four packets of crisps (like last week).

Rezie · 08/09/2019 13:25

I ran to the gym! Then did a workout. It was awesome. It took about 35min with the half walk an half run. I haven't talked about this weight loss plan with others. But I went out with my family (mum's birthday dinner) and casually mentioned about running to the gym. I was a bit annoyed with the lack of support but oh well. They don't know so can't blame them but I was hoping a "well done" rather than meh. Thankfully my boyfriend is encouraging.

So went to a restaurant. Didn't have a dessert and I also skipped the 4am kebab and went home and had a piece of rye bread. Let's just ignore the 8 drinks I had 😅

Rezie · 08/09/2019 13:30

@Isittheend well done! 20kg is an amazing achievement! Food is more important than excercise when it comes to weightloss but it has so much positive effects to other aspects of health. Hopefully You will find some type of excercise that feels good for you :)

KTD27 · 08/09/2019 18:46

Got a huge NSV this weekend. I haven’t told my MIL I’m doing ww or actively trying to lose weight at all as she will bombard me with questions and ask how much I’ve lost every single week. It all comes from a place of love but it’s exhausting.
Anyway I saw her yesterday and she said ‘have you lost weight? You look noticeably thinner’
Whoooo! You know it’s working when the people who don’t know it’s happening notice.
Had a good day yesterday and an ok day today. Chicken is in the oven roasting and have made a meal plan for the week. Lots of fish!

DakotaFanny · 08/09/2019 22:25

I’ve been off track this week to be honest. DS diagnosed with t1 diabetes in A&E on Wednesday night so spent two days in hospital eating when and what I could and been mega busy since. What a week!!!

Well done everyone else though- keep up the great work! Back on it tomorrow!

DakotaFanny · 08/09/2019 22:27

By the way , KTD- awesome NSV!!!! I never tell my Mil about diets either because she can’t talk about anything else after I do! Bless those pesky MILs!
