Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Well I’ve stayed the same this week. Can not seem to bloody motivate myself. Not sure what’s wrong I was on such a roll

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 02/11/2019 13:23

Hello all,
Well i made it down to lose a kg but am deliberately not weighing myself now as I'm sure it's back on (halloween/weekend/friends over for wine/Indian meal etc).
But back on it tomorrow! I think if I keep at this it will definitely work.

How was everyone's halloween?!

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin haribo are my kryptonite. I’ve eaten a LOT of sugar in the last few days. Blush

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 04/11/2019 13:58

74.5kg.

Things are going well re not eating evening meals, but I am now having wine every night and seem to have replaced food with drink?

Also - weekends are a nightmare.

how's everyone else doing?

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin that’s one strategy I guess! I feel your pain.
Weekends have proven to be my downfall yet again here. I’m totally back on it Monday but I fear I undo the damage just to do it all over again.
Have made a delicious chicken soup today to have for lunch over the next few days. Need to lose 5 pesky pounds to be in the next stone bracket which I haven’t seen for years. Just can’t engage my body to follow!

RubySlippers77 · 05/11/2019 10:00

Poor DTS2 has broken his arm and I am pretty much stuck in the house!! Didn't realise how much I enjoyed (well perhaps that's pushing it, but needed!) walking to school and back twice a day plus a park trip in the afternoons to feel better about myself. MIL is sitting with him whilst I do the school run with DTS1 twice a day, and whilst she is lovely, punctuality isn't her strong point - I end up shoving him in the car and speeding off.....

Zero motivation here, but I need a kick up the arse, can't face starting 2020 at this weight Sad my friend is doing Slimming World and loves it, I may join out of solidarity and the hope that they'll help me plan some easy menus!

ohnomesandwiches · 05/11/2019 11:15

I've stayed exactly the same this week. I'm actually surprised I haven't gained, because I've been eating and drinking like a pig. I am not going to New York looking like a blimp!! I just need to get back on the horse. Fingers crossed I'll see a result on Friday.

@RubySlippers77 Apologies for being thick but what does DTS stand for?

Rezie · 05/11/2019 18:43

what does DTS stand for?
Toddler son? I'm not up to date with the lingo but that's my guess.

KTD27 · 06/11/2019 11:05

Twin son? That’s what I guessed
Weigh in today. God knows what it will say. Apparently ww is changing next week. Think I need a different approach to shove me off my comfortable perch.

RubySlippers77 · 06/11/2019 20:26

KTD was right, it's Dear Twin Son Grin

First day back to walking the school run (as it were) twice, DTS2 was bundled up and put in the buggy for it, he's absolutely shattered even just doing that. I am wrecked too as he's not sleeping well so I hear "MUMMEEEEEEE!!" at least six times a night. Food today has been takeaways all the way. Oh dear Sad

Have they told you in what way WW is changing KTD? Surely it's not that long since they rebranded it all anyway?

KTD27 · 07/11/2019 07:19

@RubySlippers77 oh the poor little thing ! Hope he’s on the mend soon. Don’t beat yourself up about the takeaways. You have to eat and it’s survival mode when things like this happen.
They haven’t said re:WW only that there will be a few different plans to choose from and you can make it work for you. I think they’re going to love towards a slimming world style model for one of the plans where there are heaps more zero point foods but you get less of a point allowance to spend a day. There will be one plan which is as it is. And one where you get lots more points to spend but less zero point foods - I’ll see what the deal is but it will be good to have a change even if it’s slight.

Lost a half pound this week. 17.5 in total now. I’m actually properly happy with that because I moved from a morning to an evening weigh in so I think it would be lots more if I’d been able to stick to the same class. But the proof will be in the pudding I guess. My sisters bday this weekend so I’ll have to be strict before and after then if I want to move those scales.

RubySlippers77 · 07/11/2019 09:32

He is still tired and grumpy @KTD27. And still didn't sleep through either. Send Wine

Interesting about the WW changes, I first did it about 20 years ago and then when I rejoined about 3 years ago thought it had already evolved a lot! You seemed to be able to eat much more, plus the technological changes, of course - no apps back then. However I'm not a fan of Connect, much preferred the old talk boards (such as the MN ones now!). I also liked the No Count plan but they binned it during the last round of changes! Perhaps member feedback has made them adapt and offer more plans again?

17.5lb is amazing. I haven't even dared step on the scales recently!!

Rezie · 08/11/2019 06:41

Last week 82kg
This week 81.7kg

I did weigh myself during the week and it was less but it wasn't my official day and there for it doesnt get recorded. Winter has officially arrived and time to put bike i the storage (well the breaks are also wonky whixh makes cycling less nice) so less excercise now. need to add cardio.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 09/11/2019 04:07

Hello everyone!
Sorry for the silence. Well done KT, you are doing really well!
Ruby have you managed any more sleep? hope you are ok.
Rezie that's good! well done
Ohnome - how was your weigh in?

well... I keep losing one kg through the week but then putting it all back on at the weekend. Also seem to be in self destruct mode and binge eating. I have an event next weekend and would really like to lose 2-3kg during the week. That's my target. I don't know, I don't seem to be able to control myself. Sad the other day I had 5 packets of crisps in a row. Sad

ohnomesandwiches · 09/11/2019 13:34

@RubySlippers77 Hope the wee one is on the mend soon. Sounds like the takeaways are justified.

I've stayed the same this week (10.7) but have started a new job which is quite physical and my muscles are aching that could be behind the lack of a change on the scales.

RubySlippers77 · 10/11/2019 23:05

No more sleep here sadly. DTS2 is still immensely grumpy and not sleeping well!

Hope everyone has a better week this week. I am considering joining SW online with a special offer as I desperately need to do something before I start 2020 heavier than I started 2019 Sad

Rezie · 15/11/2019 06:41

Last week: 81.7kg
This week: 81.1kg

KTD27 · 15/11/2019 08:27

Ooh well done @Rezie!
I lost another pound this week. It’s coming off but soooo slowly. Have really slowed things down since I re introduced booze. Will go alcohol free for a few months in 2020 I think. Most of jan after DH bday and Feb too. Seems to be the key. God dam it.

KTD27 · 15/11/2019 08:29

Oh and @RubySlippers77 WW have brought back no count. (Sort of) called purple plan I think. Everyone thrilled at my meeting. I’m staying with the one I was doing and might swap things around over xmas

RubySlippers77 · 15/11/2019 22:29

Well done @KTD27 and @Rezie - I will weigh in on Monday - had a good start to the week but it nosedived spectacularly when I spent the day in hospital with DTS1!! It was for a planned op and I'd taken snacks but took much longer than planned Sad

I did have some prosecco in the fridge but DP is currently 'helping' me get rid of it by drinking it all Hmm

Interesting about No Count (sort of!) coming back KTD, I think WW got lots of bad feedback from people who'd loved it, and surely more choice of plans is a good thing?!

Need to do a food shop soon and not buy lots of Christmas goodies. If they are in the house I would end up eating them!!

Mahdia · 15/11/2019 22:54

Hi ladies!
I just joined Mumsnet and happened to tumble across this post! So inspirational you guy!! Well done. I’m also (trying) to lose some excess weight (about 30kg) but I’ve tried every diet under the umbrella aloe Vera, beach body 21, Cambridge diet, and some others throughout the years. I’ve heard of Keto and just wanted some advice on it if you’ve been on it before.
Thanks again and congrats!!

KTD27 · 16/11/2019 07:01

Welcome @Mahdia! I think there might be some specific Keto threads kicking around somewhere - at least there are definitely low carb ones.
Keto is essentially restricting your carb intake to 5% of daily nutrients and having essential fats around 75%. It involves lots of green veg, fish, cheese etc and tracking what you eat. I have done low carb before with a much less strict approach as no way was I restricting to 5%!! I ate meats, cheese, veg essentially everything other than wheat rice and starchy Vegetables. I lost a lot of weight. Unfortunately put it all back on once I started eating ‘normally my
There’s now not a lot of evidence to suggest that it’s successful because it’s the calorie deficit you put yourself in. It’s an easy way to do it as you’re cutting out food groups which happen to have a lot of calories attached. It often results in rapid and consistent weight loss but this time around for me was too restricting. It’s not sustainable for my lifestyle. It is absolutely the diet of choice for lots of others.
Good luck in whatever you decide!

RubySlippers77 · 16/11/2019 22:51

Hi @Mahdia! When I've done low carb (not specifically keto) diets before they have made me feel great but I didn't find them particularly sustainable or easy to adapt to my lifestyle - it was fine when eating at home but out and about was much harder. I am vegetarian though which made it more tricky! Have you already tried the more mainstream diets like WW and SW, as they can be adapted to eat more protein and less carbs?

Rezie · 17/11/2019 02:02

The diet my trainer gave me was essentially keto eventhough it was not called it. It didn't work for me. It requires eating so much and so often. But that I'm exactly a success but for me the most helpful is the boring "everything in moderation" thing. I've reduced he snacking and have smaller lunch and breakfast. It didn't make me feel good since I had to think about food all the time.

ohnomesandwiches · 20/11/2019 14:23

Welcome to the thread @Mahdia!

Weighed myself this morning and I'm now 10 stone having been 10 stone seven last time I posted on here I think. Although I replaced my evening meal last night with too much wine so I'm probably just very dehydrated.

I have a trip to London this weekend to meet up with some old friends. I don't want to deprive myself as I don't see them very often but does anyone have any advice as to how to stay on the wagon when on a wee break?
