Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Thats not the emoji i meant!
Also meal delivery sounds interesting! I've been doing the same gym programme for a long time now and probably need an update on it. Maybe that will give another kick!

KTD27 · 21/10/2019 17:52

Hi all. How’s everyone getting along ? A less than ideal weekend from me which I’m trying to rectify slowly. Not sure what the damage is yet I darent check before weigh in

RubySlippers77 · 21/10/2019 21:24

Well done @Rezie! Slow but steady wins the race Smile

I am doing ok but (very) slowly, @KTD27. Lost half a pound over the weekend but have lost a few cm's doing low carb, which is good. Just struggling really to find the time to organise/ shop/ cook/ even eat regularly! And I'd like to fit in an exercise class or at least some form of exercise, but don't see when I can. I mean I'm active but it's all walking (17K today) - but I've only just finished tidying/ cleaning/ loading the dishwasher/ doing some washing up/ hanging up washing for the evening and it's nearly 9.30pm - I'm shattered! And in half an hour or so the first "MUMMEEEEEEEE" will sound from upstairs and that'll be my evening pretty much over. How do people do it?!

RubySlippers77 · 22/10/2019 10:29

Have you started the meal replacement things yet @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin? I was giving this some thought too: when I lost my weight last time I was eating a fairly restricted diet (partly because I'm vegetarian, partly because I'm not one of life's natural cooks and don't enjoy it much!). I'm looking at meal plans at the moment where I just cook the same thing on a fortnightly basis. I might get bored with weekly but once every two weeks should be ok! Plus hopefully that will free up some time for me to do other things.....

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 22/10/2019 12:25

Hi - sorry I have been away from MN for a few days! No - haven't started yet, and in fact have been having a carb frenzy. I can't bring myself to sign up for it because it's so expensive. But you lose 4-5kg in a month. Which i really want to do. decisions! I think I will do it. I just look at the menu and think I could make it all myself so grudge paying it - but the reality is I never will! It's very low carb but nice meals, I have done it before. So they will have an omlette for breakfast, or low carb pancakes - then a salad/soup for lunch, and a nice veggie dinner. And two snacks. I like the food. Hmmm maybe should sign up today!

RubySlippers77 · 22/10/2019 13:27

Do they do any special offers 2Slices? Could you give them a call and ask, say you're considering signing up again, see if they offer an incentive...?! Or Groupon sometimes have deals on there!

I was looking at Diet Doctor as they do low carb meal plans - there's a one month free trial which I might do - just need some help to get started. I found Our Path really good to start with but at £30/ month couldn't justify the cost long term.

Both DC seem tired out today after nursery. Half term for us next week, maybe the stress will help me with some weight loss?! Or send me diving into a pile of chocolate

KTD27 · 23/10/2019 13:03

Half a pound off this week. Literally crawling forwards with it at the moment. I can feel the pressure of Christmas and socialising calling me like a glass of red wine.
How’s half term working out for you @RubySlippers77? We have come to see my parents for a few days. It’s always dressed up as a break but I’m more exhausted now than I would have been at home.
@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin have you bitten the bullet? I know what you mean about cost. I think the meal delivery things look amazing but I’d need big windfall to give them a go.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 23/10/2019 16:19

Thank you for suggesting that Ruby, they were doing 10% off and I asked for more and they gave me 15% :o

I'm doing 5 days a week, all meals and snacks - for a month.
I'm hoping to be 70kg at the end of that month. The last time I did this was 2016 and actually I did lose 3-4kg even with cheating a bit. This time i'm not going to though. I will post what I am eating every day in case anyone wants to copy it although some of it needs a bit of prep!

i am huge. :/

Dropped off the wagon (and Mumsnet) for a few days!
Well probably over a week actually!
Really need to get back on!

Rezie · 25/10/2019 07:12

Last week: 81.5kg
This week: 81.2 kg
Original target by xmas: 76kg
Revised target by xmas: 79.9kg

I'll admit I wasn't great this week but at least it is down so I'm glad. This weekend will not be good cause There is friends birthday but during the week I'll be good 😁

ohnomesandwiches · 25/10/2019 14:07

Hi,

I'd like to join this thread as I need some moral support and I'm getting nothing from MFP. At today's weigh in I was 10 stone 7 pound. I'm only 5 foot 2 so that's pretty big for me. I have a trip to New York in January but so want to get slimmer for that but would still like to have lost a stone by Christmas. Think that's a bit of a tall order though!

How is everyone else doing?

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 25/10/2019 14:20

Welcome aboard OhNoMe! Nice to have you here. I think we are mostly all doing the same, not exactly how we planned it, but nice to chat to each other about it! :)

Well I seem to be eating as though I am on death row :) with my new low cal/low carb food delivery starting on Sunday. Just polished off crisps and salsa. Ah well.

OP posts:
ohnomesandwiches · 25/10/2019 14:42

Thanks for the welcome! Was thinking about trying one of those diet programmes myself. It would help not having to put as much thought into what I'm eating.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 25/10/2019 15:18

Exactly. it's like someone putting a plate down in front of you but with no associated effort. And also it's nice food so you don't feel like it's a hardship. I think I am going to do it from now until Christmas and target 8kg off by then.

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 26/10/2019 23:14

You'll have to let us know what you think of the food delivery 2Slices (glad you got a discount, by the way!) - AF for me and I cannot stick to low carb Sad

I'm really thinking of investing in the Thriva blood tests as I'd like to know my cholesterol level and a few other bits, but my GP won't do the tests unless I've got something 'wrong' (that's if I can get an appointment in the first place!) - I do wonder if I'm entering peri menopause as that would explain a few things.

Welcome @ohnomesandwiches! Are you calorie counting if you're using MFP? (I tried but gave it up in a big sulk when it wouldn't link with my Fitbit!). I'm meeting a friend for lunch next week who started SW a few weeks ago, going to find out what she thinks of it; I found it pretty uninspiring but plodded along to lose a couple of stone a few years back, maybe it's got more exciting in the meantime!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 27/10/2019 12:33

Ruby can you pay for private tests, sorry I'm out of the UK so not sure how it all works - but can you go to a private clinic and just give a list of what you would like to do? I guess it's expensive....

So...not only am I doing the meals (total cal count is 1200) but have also decided to jam it all into an 8 hour window so doing 8:16 fasting as well. Having breakfast at 8am, lunch at 11am and 'dinner' at 2pm. lol. Am absolutely stuffed so fingers crossed it will last....today's menu was:

B: Banana/hazelnut porridge
S: mini cauliflower patty things
L: roasted curried cauliflower salad
S: chocolate pudding with mango
D: root veg curry with brown rice

It was all delicious!

Morning all. Another week flying solo as DH away with work and another weekend where I seem to have run screaming from the wagon after hurtling off at speed. Need need need to get back the focus I had a month or so ago. I fear no wine for a while is the answer. We have such a crazy december with a holiday and weddings and all sorts I want to give myself a cushion. So a strict November... maybe Halloween Grin

RubySlippers77 · 28/10/2019 22:56

2Slices I'm looking into paying. Just another expense I could do without really! The car is in the garage tomorrow needing repairs which I'm hoping won't be £££ Sad

How did your 16:8 day go?

@KTD27 my house is an absolute tip, I cannot tidy quicker than the DC can mess it up again!! And my motivation to try is non-existent till after half term! If there had been Wine in the house over the weekend I'd definitely have had all some of it. That's why I can't buy it!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 29/10/2019 14:14

KT - how's your wine free time going?!

Ruby - good thanks. So I am on day 2 now of eating everything in my 'bag' before 2pm - then not eating again until 7.30am the next day. I had lost half a kg this morning! I think it's the fasting, rather than the meals that are doing it - although maybe both.

Finally the scales are going down.....

I'm not even hungry in the evening as I have eaten basically non stop up until 2pm - and also the last two nights I've had a wine & soda so if I can lose a bit and still have one drink a night, all good! It's all going well! If you can manage to cram all your food in to 8 hours I would recommend it!

I feel like I'm (finally!) a turning a corner and definitely never want to be back up this street ever again once it comes off!

Also - cancelled Noom subscription!

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin well I’m only on day three and I’m close to cracking. Ate a super healthy dinner last night and scales looked good (I say good. I mean I’d reversed the damage of the weekend) this morning so I’m trying to replicate it this evening (just fish and veggies) and stay off the wine as have weigh in in the morning. I can let loose then tomorrow eve Grin
We don’t have anything planned this week unlike the last couple of weekends so it’s bound to be slightly less alcoholic than it has been.
I’ve personal stylist appointment Sunday at John Lewis for a VERY fancy wedding I’m going to in December. Will be interesting to see if the weight loss I’ve achieved since August 1st has made a difference to my dress size.

KTD27 · 29/10/2019 19:09

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin also I think that fasting is the way forward. I realise that if I have good runs it’s because I’m waiting until much later in the day to start eating and not struggling to stay within my points allowance.
Glad the scales are moving for you.

@RubySlippers77 did the car repair bankrupt you or was it ok?

ohnomesandwiches · 29/10/2019 20:29

Actually turned up the gym today rather than just making my voluntary monthly donation so hopefully that's the start of a positive change.

@RubySlippers77 I was using MFP just to keep track of my progress and get moral support. I'm actually not too bad at knowing what calories are in things. It's just when I fall off the wagon I fall off badly. I tend to eat everything and wipe out a week's worth of work. I'm also too fond of the vino.

Being on maternity leave for the past 10 months hasn't helped matters.

RubySlippers77 · 29/10/2019 23:14

Well done @ohnomesandwiches for actually going to the gym Grin I had to cancel mine as DP very rarely looked after the DTs to enable me to go. Once they are in school I'd love to go back, miss the sociable side of gym going as well as the physical side.

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin I've heard that 16:8 is good for weight loss, might have to try it at some point. Think I'd find it tough though as I don't get much sleep with small DC; if I get up at 6am I'm hungry by 8!

@KTD27 bizarrely the garage couldn't find a fault with the car and hence only charged me a small amount for the check. Which is good I guess but means I'm now waiting for it to happen again.....

Rezie · 01/11/2019 06:25

Last week 81.2kg
This week 82.0kg

I'm admit This week has been a disaster. Had mcdonalds twice (neither bought by me) and 2 days of eating crap at potluck. Also went to a party and drank significant ammount and ate tons of candy nd crisps. And also ate crap as hangover food. But hopefully next week will be better!

Been going to the gym twice a week and 1 run a week. Going to get a new gym programme next week.
