Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May

VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:44

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

I'm struggling to stay in the right mental space today.

Essentially I've had bugger-all sleep the last few nights and woken by DC at 5.30am, one of them is now trying to set a record for how annoying one child can be, and after several hours digging over a plant border and ripping up ivy, I feel so tired and cranky. I am really hankering for biscuits and cake with my cup of tea, just sugary stuff basically. I've probably got plenty of calories to spare to eat one or two small treats but I know in my current mood I would end up eating more so can't risk opening the flood gates Sad

Just need to keep going until the kids are in bed and I can enjoy the low calorie curry I'm making later.

edwardson · 05/05/2019 15:59

A bit of a confession as I'm definitely feeling the long weekend struggle. I was so good (exercise and healthy food within calories) most of the day yesterday. Had a few drinks (within calorie allowance) and then.. bought an entire pizza on the way home and ate it. Then had half a jar of peanut butter and called in a night Blushhaha I'm not too worried about it - the biggest problem is not breaking the "rules" but failing to get back on the wagon after doing so. Will wait to weigh until I've had a few days of behaving a bit better and see how I get on.

Mabellavender · 05/05/2019 17:13

I have managed to lose 8 lb in my first week! Actually only since Tuesday!

Feeling very motivated. I know it may just be water or maybe because I’m so big that I will get big losses the first few weeks but I’m so pleased and I feel better already.

I’m really enjoying using MyFitnessPal, I’m still eating chocolate every day!

QueenMabby · 05/05/2019 18:06

Can I join? I have about half a stone to lose but really struggling esp at that time of the month. This weekend all I’ve wanted to do is eat! On Friday I had 14 chocolate malted milk biscuits for lunch... 😳
Need to get back into a healthier and more varied regime. Currently about 9st 4 (although poss a bit more) and had been 8st 10-12 for a good few years prior to this so that’s my aim.

housewifeoflittleitaly · 05/05/2019 19:30

I’ve been very bad all weekend! Fell completely of the wagon as we took the kids away for a few days, I even ate a giant bar of chocolate! Gained 3lbs so getting back on it today with the fasting... tomorrow Is weigh day Blush

Ratbagcatbag · 05/05/2019 19:48

I weighed on Saturday and have lost 1.5lbs.

However I embraced sod it Saturday like others here and ordered a Korma and all the sodding accompaniments to go with it. I finished it off for breakfast 🙄

Anyway back on a SW dinner today and kinda could do with losing two stone before Thursday as I have a date for the first time in forever. Grin

I accept two stone is probably pushing it a bit before then though.

shoelace88 · 05/05/2019 22:29

Good afternoon everyone! Lots of positive thoughts going to everyone who is struggling. Keep up the hard work and it will get better, y'all got this!

Yesterday I ended up doing a hour and a half workout on fitness blender. It was awesome but I'm so sore today. For the little bit of time I have been working out, the most I've done is 40min. I went and got some bath salts from the store today, I hope it helps me. I also started my monthly last night, so I'm basically miserable today. Lol
Breakfast: lots of different fruits
Lunch: salad with chicken
Dinner: Hawaiian chicken and grilled pineapple
Snack: granola bar, 3 dark chocolate covered cherries, & coffee
Workout: rest day

Have an amazing day everyone, and keep kicking ass‼💪💪

cricketmum84 · 05/05/2019 22:42

Eek holiday booked! We are going on 76 days so ideally I want to lose 2 stone before we go. Hitting the gym tomorrow!!

VivaFrida · 06/05/2019 06:51

Bonjour all & welcome to

Star day SIX Star

We have nearly finished the first week and we should be happy about ourselves because even if we aren't doing perfectly (I know I am not... way too many mini choc eggs for my liking...) we are still doing HUGELY better than before.... and i second what shoelace88 is saying, keep on keeping o and the results will follow, not only on the scales but in your energy levels, mental outlook and general joie de vivre.

eating well and exercising is the best gift you can give to yourself - remember, you are doing this for YOU!!

cricketmum84 holiday! Yasss! Where are you going in 75 days?

Well done for the loss Ratbagcatbag & good luck for your date! Don't forget to come back to the thread and tell us all about it!

housewifeoflittleitaly don't beat yourself up too much if you have overeaten a little... and watch the starve/binge cycle darling. Be fair to your body.

Welcome QueenMabby - looks like you haven't got lots to lose which makes it harder. It was fairly easy for me to get to 60kg, not trying to get back to my usual fighting weight of 56kg and I can feel it's getting slower. But nothing can beat us and we'll keep at it!!

Great post to read Mabellavender - lovely that you are so focused! & great loss too!!

edwardson - you can turn this round, you have done it before, YOU GO!!

cardibach I am 100% with you on change of job/ improvement in mental health - I am fully convinced that my (newish) job at the moment is helping me mahooosively in my recovery from a depressive episode.

Wellthatwastricky I hope today is better for you!!

Oh, yes, my plans. Well I am hundred percent cherishing the fact that I am off today by getting up early (I have been up since six) and having ginger tea, looking at my garden in flower whilst the rest of the house is asleep. I woke up a bit achey from all the exercise yesterday (I did a triple: short sesh on the fake bike, short sash on the x-trainer + 10 miles country walk).

Not sure what I will do today! My DH is working today and my DS2 is seeing friends... so I have some time all for myself as I am not working today... what a rare privilege. Smile

I may go for an exploratory short run in the AM and for a slow swim in the PM (basically an excuse to go to the hot tub & steam room...).

I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning hoping the weight would have budged down 60kg. Fingers crossed!

Thanks VivaFrida those last few pounds are always the killer!
Determined to have a healthier day today - will report back later. No food in the house so shall pop to the supermarket this morning and we planning crazy golf this afternoon en famille. This counts as exercise, right??!

OhTheRoses · 06/05/2019 07:19

Well after my 1lb loss a few days ago, on top of the 7lb in first two weeks weight has been between 1/2 and 2lb heavier every morning. I have been within points and over activity. It is so disheartening.

Paradoxically I feel thinner and a nightie that was tight across the shoulders no longer is.

Yesterday was small pot 0% yoghurt, carrot and coriander soup, small portion pasta, roasted tom and mozz with salad and two gin and slims. (Pasta was a treat).

Today: 1/2 pot 0% yoghurt with stewed rhubarb, carrot and coriander soup, lamb steak and greek salad and 2 x gin and slim.

Finding the ready made cans of g&T v helpful as the hand can't slip.

31133004Taff · 06/05/2019 07:45

I was really focussed yesterday on ‘protecting’ my weight loss. I have 10lbs to lose and aiming on the first 6lbs by 6 June 2019 so I’m in the zone of losing 1lb a week. However, at that rate it’s too easy to lose one week and gain the next. That would be so frustrating. So yesterday I was really mindful of the thinking that takes me to high calorie snacking/grazing. I have a Sunday treat, in the same way others I’ve read, have time off. In this way I am working on establishing habits that will mean my weight loss is sustainable.

ImpossibleNovelty · 06/05/2019 09:20

Good morning everyone, happy bank holiday Monday. Commiserations to those who are working.

Pretty flexible on food plans for today. Having a fry up (minus the carbs) for brunch at the pub and hopefully a mini roast dinner (tragically no roast potatoes Sad) for dinner. Should also take the dog for a walk at some point. Hope everyone has a decent day and that whatever eating plan you’re following goes well today.

DeadButDelicious · 06/05/2019 09:22

Morning all!

Weigh in day today. Was a little nervous as my period always throws me off a bit. But I was pleasantly surprised at a 0.7kg loss!

1/5/19: 126.2kg

6/5/19: 125.5kg

Loss so far in May: 0.7kg

Total loss so far: 17.4kg (2.74 stones/38.36 lbs)

My goal for this week is to keep my calories at around 1500 a day, drink more water to stave off those snacky feelings and exercise every day. And switch the nakd bars for malt loaf. Less calories and lets me kid myself I'm having cake Grin.

MummyBearBoo · 06/05/2019 10:18

When I get peckish I drink sparkling water and have some chewing gum it makes me feel like I've eaten!! I'm still sticking to 1340 kcal a day until I get to my goal weight then I'll go on maintain weight where I would need to eat more than 1500 but less than 2000 - at the moment the min I can eat is 1000 and Max is 1340! The recommended amount for women is 1500-2000 but I do struggle to eat that much any more! I put in MFP to lose 1/2lb per week and it gave me a kcal goal of 1500 but I didn't manage to meet it so I've put my goal back up to 1lb a week!
Well done everyone who has lost weight so far! I weigh in tomorrow and then off to the gym!! X

Good morning everyone! Today is weigh in for me. I was a bit nervous because of my period, but I'm down 1.2 lbs! I'm now back in the 140s and closer to my first goal of 145! Once I hit that goal, I'll be down my first 10lbs!! Ekk!

Breakfast: parfait
Lunch: leftover Hawaiian chicken
Dinner: salad with chicken
Workout: fitness blender on YouTube (a light one because I'm super sore still)

Hope everyone kicks some serious ass today! 💪💪👟🍑

cricketmum84 · 06/05/2019 14:31

@VivaFrida we are going to Bulgaria! Never been before but we have chosen the family friendly end of sunny beach close to nessebar and far enough away from the more lively parts!

Doing well for food today, I've just put a tray of butternut squash, beetroot, peppers, onions, chilli and garlic in the oven for me while the family have roast chicken. All zero point foods on ww. I'm also cooking a pan of quinoa to go with the leftovers for lunches for the next couple of days.

About to go and have a relaxing bubble bath with my new book. When I was at my starting weight I really struggled with getting back out of the bath but that's really improved since I hit the 50lbs loss. God I'm so ashamed just thinking about that :(

Thelineisadottoyou · 06/05/2019 14:55

Love reading everyone’s updates! This weight loss thing isn’t easy it’s nice knowing there others going through the same thing!

I attempted the pinch of nom recipe for meat and potato pasties last night which was a complete disaster! They stuck to the tray and all fell apart! The centre however was delicious and there was enough for me to pretend that I had really just made a casserole.

Tried shredded potato in fry light as hash browns today too- they were delicious!

I’m starting to feel really good, think the boost in fruit and veg is having an effect! 🤞 it is for the scales too!

Startoftheyear2019 · 06/05/2019 15:46

Well done everyone. I cracked and weighed myself this morning and haven't lost anything which is pretty disappointing! I'm feeling on to koko. Hoping for some weight loss by the end of the week.

Crazzzycat · 06/05/2019 16:37

Well done to all of you who are already seeing losses!

I let the diet slip a bit over the weekend, but I’m pretty ok about that to be honest. It was a few snacks in the evening, rather than a three day eat-fest! And the scales are still going down Smile

Will post my stats on Wednesday.

Somuchroom · 06/05/2019 16:41

Hello everyone,
Hope you’re all doing better than me! I was hungover from my all day drinking session yesterday so had to get a filet o fish from McDonald’s to survive the day. It’s all I’ve eaten today but am just making a roast and then that will be it for the day. Weighed myself this morning as it’s official weigh in day and have lost 1lb in total since beginning of May. Hoping for better results next week as have no drinking sessions planned!

Ladyyoyo · 06/05/2019 17:21

Hi all, I would love to join as I am 13 stones and I decided to start a new weight loss plan. Because I already tried several times with no success, I invested in a weight loss program with ready meals and meal replacements. But just to be sure this time I will stay on rack, I thought maybe with support it will be easier. I start tomorrow because I didn’t want to start before the long weekend.

WhenDoISleep · 06/05/2019 18:05

My usual 'official' weigh in day is Sunday, no change from 1st May this week (as expected) due to dinner out / birthday cake on Saturday. Rest of the weekend / today has been a bit of a disaster, but I will be back on track tomorrow.
