A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Morning all. Sorry I have been MIA new job is taking it out of me and I'm not feeling so sociable. Just plain tired!

So checking in today,

9 Feb - 12st 2.9lbs
1 Mar - 11st 9.8lbs
1 Apr - 11st 4.2lbs
1 May - 10st 10lbs

Today - 10st 2.8lbs

Still need to get myself over to a Tesco to double check my scales as I'm not sure that mine are right.

Will update when I finally make it there!

Hope everyone is doing well xx

ImpossibleNovelty · 30/05/2019 10:18

Morning everyone! Final weigh in for me today. Stayed the same Hmm, so a total rather modest loss of 3 pounds this month. However it’s been an unusually sociable month with loads of eating out and none of that spiralled into a binge so I’m actually really pleased with that. Thanks to everyone, this has been a really great thread Flowers I’m hoping there will be a June one where I can get closer to 3kg than 3lb BlushGrin

DeadButDelicious · 30/05/2019 10:21

Well I had an 'eat all the things' Wednesday yesterday Blush. My period has turned up at bang on 28 days (almost unheard of for me, a sign I'm getting healthier?) and I think I ate everything in sight yesterday. We went out for lunch with my mum and my brother and there was this cake shop and it all went down hill from there really.

BUT all that means is I don't have Fuck It Friday as I've already had my 'day off' and it should balance out. We're going out for my mum and dads ruby wedding anniversary on Sunday so I'm going to meal plan for the next few days to make sure I allow for that as well. Fortunately the menu for the restaurant is online so I can give it a good read and pick accordingly.

I've clocked a 4.11km walk with the dog this morning and if it's not raining later on we'll pop out to the play ground. But for now I'm going to settle down and wait for the live stream of The Cure playing Disintegration in its entirety to start. I bloody love Robert Smith. Miserable bugger that he is.

BrillyPribble · 30/05/2019 11:06

😱Dead that sounds like my idea of heaven. Sadly I've got to make my DDs birthday cake today!
Just occurred to me, given your name and fondness for the Cure, is your name from Dead but dreaming? Bloody love Fields of the Nephilim.

I too had an Eat-it-all Wednesday. Family day out for a birthday, pizza for lunch, fish & chips for tea. I knew it was planned though so just had a banana for breakfast and kept portions moderate. Reckon I went over for the day by about 600cals.

DeadButDelicious · 30/05/2019 11:36

@BrillyPribble I love fields of the nephilim! My name is from a film called What We Do In The Shadows, which is a mockumentary about a group of New Zealand vampires living in a flatshare in Wellington, when they are getting ready for a night out one of the vampires describes his look as 'dead but delicious' and I thought to myself, that's me that is! I've never grown out of my goth phase Wink. Once this ten stone is off I'm going to wear nothing but PVC and velvet Grin.

Dead, ahh I keep seeing that advertised on amazon prime, I'll have to take a look. I'm a middle aged woman on the outside but a goth at heart. I saw FOTN live in Manchester about 25 years ago, still the best gig I've ever been to. Carl McCoy was so hot in his dusty old cowboy/leather outfit. 😜

Lookingforpizza · 30/05/2019 12:00

Morning all!

Scales this morning were dead on 80kg so if they can just creep under tomorrow i will be thrilled!

I’ve not been sleeping well this week and it has caught up with me today, I forgot my breakfast and lunch for work. Need to find a reasonable substitute for lunch, decided to skip breakfast. Will have what was lunch for tonight’s tea instead:

B: no food, but a latte
L: A sandwich most likely
D: Chicken salad with a sweet potato
Snacks: Chocolate and hot chocolate

Providing I don’t go mad at lunchtime, it should be a reasonably low cal day. Feels good to be motivated again - good luck to everyone else on our last day of the month! You’ve all done really well, and I’m looking forward to whatever next month brings!

Star day 30 Star

Not a good day. Struggling with MH - went out for a day out with the kids and giving myself a talking to. May has not been an easy month and glad to see the back of it. Regrouping for June. I'll be brave and dare the scales. I am finding it, again, difficult to get up. Difficult to find optimism and courage to go on. Everything in my life seems precarious, a failure. And with the depression comes the overeating...

ImpossibleNovelty · 30/05/2019 22:03

Ah Viva, sorry to see you’re struggling. MH is a bugger. I really hope tomorrow is a better day for you Flowers

Flowers for viva

Startoftheyear2019 · 31/05/2019 00:18

@VivaFrida you've done a good thing for all of us on this thread. Sorry today has been tough. May's a long old month and June is waiting with twinkling eyes just around the corner. Hope you can start tomorrow with a run and get things back on track 🌈

cricketmum84 · 31/05/2019 06:06

Final weigh in for the month here! STS this week but that's a positive thing as I've been a bit lax.

Start weight: 21 stone 6
End weight: 20 stone 4
Loss for May: 16lbs
Loss for 2019: 4 stone 12

Looking forward to June! I really hope I can do the same again!!!

OhTheRoses · 31/05/2019 06:33

Hello everyone. Not the greatest month despite trying so hard. I blame age!

April: 7lb (in two weeks!)
May: 3.5lb

Starting weight: 13st 11lb
Weight now: 13st 0-1/2lb
Target: 11st 6lb

I can see it's going to be a long slog!

Please can we have a new thread?

QRCode · 31/05/2019 07:43

@vivafrida hope June is better for you. More sunshine usually lifts the mood and you have lots of support here.

End of the month weigh in for me shows a loss of 10lbs Grin I am very pleased with that. I won't lose that much in June as I don't need to lose more than another 7lbs and I think it will slow down now. We are away next week and then there are four more weeks of term left so I will continue with my regime at least until then.

Well done on all losses everyone, no matter how small.

cricketmum84 · 31/05/2019 08:26

Wouldn't it be fab if we all did a tally of how much we have lost together in June and had a total of stones/Kgs!!

I'll volunteer :) I can go through the final weigh ins tomorrow morning and give us a grand total!

DeadButDelicious · 31/05/2019 09:29

Thanks For you Viva. May is a rubbish month. Good riddance to it. Onward to June eh?

DownWithThisSortOfThin · 31/05/2019 09:48

Well done everyone for getting through the month and for the losses/attempts! My figures are:

22nd April: 11st7lbs
31st May: 10st6lbs

I'm really pleased but still have another half stone to go before I'm in the healthy BMI range. I've gone from a 14 to a 12 though so that has made a huge difference mentally. Planning to keep going for June and hopefully up the exercise, if the rain ever stops.

Good luck to everyone Star

snooksmcgee · 31/05/2019 10:19

Starting weight 1st May: 17st
Weight today: 16st 3lbs

so an 11lbs loss for the month, I'm very pleased with that. The last week has been a struggle, I've had a cold and not had much energy to get walking this week, so weight loss has slowed down. But ready to get right back on it for June.

VivaFrida · 31/05/2019 11:18

Star day 31 Star

In May I lost 2kg... and then put them back on, finishing the month where I started Blush Blush Blush.

I lost 5kg in March and 5 kg in April.

May has been horrendous. I was truly hoping for good news, an upward turn of the bad luck that has plagued me for the past years, but no, more bad news, more disappointment. I feel like a complete failure with capital F.

I wallowed in pity for a few days, overate, realised that it makes me feel worse and does not help.

So today I weighed myself, I took the gain and will move on for the next month.

Can someone be so kind to start the June thread? I think I have it in me to follow it but not to keep it going - thank you.

and thank you all for your kind words.

VivaFrida you are so not a failure! Just look at what you did this month, keeping us all motivated. And you may have ended May where you started, but that’s kind of an achievement too. Big hugs to you. MH issues really suck.

My final stats for May are:

Starting weight 81.7
End weight 79.6

So I lost 2.1 kg. May has been challenging for me, in more way than one. There have been far more comfort eating sessions than I’d like, as well as two bank holiday weekends and a wedding anniversary get-away. I am genuinely surprised I ended on a loss!

DeadButDelicious · 31/05/2019 11:50

Just squeaked in 720 minutes exercise!

Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May
