VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:44

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Hi everyone, I would like to join please. Would like to lose 3kg in May. Just going to try by reducing portion sizes and exercising more. I have a problem in the evenings when the kids are in bed and me and DH stuff sweets. I’ve got to stop the evening binge. It’s effecting my sleep and I feel hungover the next day. I went on holiday in April and was in one room with DH and 2 DC and didn’t eat after the kids had gone to bed, so I know I can do it. Just got to break that habit.
Best of luck all.

Hello! Can I join in please?

I'm aiming to lose ten stone. So that's a target weight of around 76-80kg. I've always been big but over the last decade or so (I'm 37) I've really let things get out of hand. I started out at the beginning of the year weighing 142.9kg ( 22.5 stone).

As of this Monday (29th April) I weigh in at 126.2kg (2.6 stone gone so far). I'm 5 foot 4.

I'm not doing anything particularly special, I have a calorie allowance of 1600 a day. The only thing that is 'forbidden' for me is fizzy sugary pop, everything else is fine provided it's in moderation and I stay within my numbers, which I track on myfitnesspal. I get out for a walk with the dog and the pram most days as well.

I'm so glad I found this thread as I've been feeling a bit lonely lately to be honest as I don't really talk about it with anyone out of fear of failure. I know I'm big. I know I need to change it. I'm doing this for myself and my family because I want to be around. I've tried to lose weight before and it's not really got anywhere but I'm really ready to change things now so I think something like this with small, manageable goals will really help me. Half a stone a month is as good a target as any! So yeah. That's me!

So weighed in this morning.
I was 76.9kg yesterday, but 75.6kg this morning. I seem to plateau for a while then have a big drop, so looks like I’ve got a target of 72.6kg by the end of the month. 🤦‍♀️ Wish me luck!

Meal plan for today-
B- coffee (doing IF)
L- fajita salad bowl
D- prawn, chorizo and veg bake

I've lost a stone and a half since end of January having done low carb boot camp. I started by dreaming of getting to 10.7 as I didn't believe my 9st 10 pre baby weight was in reach. Now, at 10st 4 I'm starting to believe and hoping that the extra push from the next boot camp will make this possible. I've had a couple of blips but only one off days so I have changed my way of eating. I pre Pliny meals on mfp to ensure I eat balanced throughout the day. I used to essentially starve myself until 4pm when I would cave and binge. Now I have a nutritious mid morning snack (instead of breakfast), lunch and dinner with a planned in evening snack as I'm a night eater.

Good luck everyone!

spugzbunny · 01/05/2019 08:36

Hello! Over from a successful April thread! I'm back for another half a stone:

Height: 5ft2
Start: 14 stone
Current: 13.7
Goal: 10 stone

Method: 18:6 fasting with a slightly more relaxed weekend. 1200 cals a day roughly but I'm not counting too closely.

I'm a bridesmaid in July so I'd love to be able to get down to close to 12 stone by then.

DeadButDelicious · 01/05/2019 08:40

Morning everyone!

Today's meal plan is:

B: All Bran cereal with whole milk and my multivitamin.

L: Chicken breast with vegetables, half a potato baked and a salted caramel nakd bar.

D: Veggie burger with vegetables, the other half of the potato and a lunchbox sized malt loaf.

Snack: 1 krisproll with low fat garlic and herb cream cheese.

Bringing me out at 1502 out of my 1600 allowed calories.

Theclearing · 01/05/2019 09:07

11.2 this morning, was 11.6 at the beginning of April’s thread (have name changed), so though I find the pace as it goes frustrating, that’s actually not too bad!

I get starving around 4 or 5 o’clock so am doing a sort of 16:8 where I have nothing for breakfast, small lunch but okay dinner. Trying to do 800 calls as all my weight is round my trunk and have an event in two weeks I’d like to have weight off for.

Lookingforpizza · 01/05/2019 09:09

Morning all!

Not sure if it’s placebo effect but I’ve felt a lot brighter the last two mornings following eating well. I feel like I’m sleeping better too Hmm

Today’s meals are identical to yesterday:

B: Alpen and vanilla yoghurt (266)
L: Chicken salad with a small bit of coleslaw (400)
D: Salmon, salad and bulgar wheat with quinoa (435)
Snacks: mini babybel (67) and possibly a chocolate bar later so around 220 cals for that.

I am planning to go for a 45 minute walk at lunch time and will aim for 30 minute run at the gym later, which should easily get me a minimum 1000 cal deficit for today.

ImpossibleNovelty · 01/05/2019 09:38

Good morning all ☀️ I’m low(ish) carbing in prep for fast 800 later this month so today’s meals are (hopefully):
B - mixed nuts and a babybel
L - left over pork in mushroom sauce with cabbage
D - fajitas (without the tortilla)

Planning a 20 minute dog walk too. Starting at 76.5 kgs, so aiming for 73.5 by the end of May. Hope everyone has a good day!

popcorndiva · 01/05/2019 09:42

Trying to lose my baby weight

Currently 13st 9
May goal date 13st 3 (so i am just overweight and not obese)
Overall end goal - 12st 5

VivaFrida · 01/05/2019 10:10

Good morning!

Welcome to the new joiners and great to see you back at the old faithfuls!!

Star IT'S DAY ONE! Star

It's great to have so many people aboard the thread this month! I read all messages and get a lot from all! So please keep posting.

Something about me:

I joined the March thread and so far I have lost just over 10kgs in March & April. I follow an old ww style plan using the Ultimate Food Diary App (it's basically simplified calorie counting).

Hopefully this is the month in which I'll get close to my final goal of 56 kg (I have been 53-56 kg most of my adult life). I'll be happy with 57 by the end of the month.

Although I have been mainly a skinny baitch I have been a "chubby babby" three times in my life (about one per each decade, not including pregnancies) and that sudden increase in weight has been stress/anxiety/depression related.

So... I put the extra weight on (and i get to exactly the same weight: about 70kg) really quickly, I keep it with me for a couple of years, and then I get my head in order, get rid of the weight fairly quickly, go back to skinny baitch weight, and then stay happily there for 7/8/10 years.... until the next lot of major existential shit hits the proverbial fan. That is my pattern! Grief floors me! You know the people who are in pain and eat only roses and tears? That's not me - when I am in pain I eat all the fridge contents, and will also nibble on the door and shelves. It's as if I build up an armour of fat to protect me from the cruelty of the world.

Last time (this year) I had extensive therapy and finally was able to recognise the pattern (d'oh!!) so I hope this time I'll get back to my normal skinny baitch weight and keep it off even if my house decides to fall on me or any other catastrophes but, hey, not tempting fate or anything.

goal of the day

So... day one... what are you doing differently today, the new month that you were not doing yesterday?

I am working from home, started fairly early (8 am) after getting up at 6 to put one hour of training in (RRRROAR!!) and I am planning to finish work equally early to sort out my wardrobe. At the moment it's a mess of 'chubby clothes' - skinny clothes that don't fit me, some of the large skinny clothes are starting to fit again... and in general it's messy, with piles of stuff...

So - clear head clear cupboard. My goal today is to do a good clearout after work (oh, and eat following the plan).

Sorry this is a bit of a novel. I am the garrulous kind!

Can I join? I have lost around half a stone since beginning of April. I had a target to get down to 10 1/2 stone by Friday and I'm 4lbs off Confused feeling fed up as I'd have probably hit it if I hadn't had the huge Easter egg yesterday! Is it possible to loose 4lb in 3 days??

WhenDoISleep · 01/05/2019 10:35

I'm back onboard for May. I was not good to myself in April and I'm quite upset by it but new month, new start.

I'm returning to the practice I had when I successfully lost quite a bit of weight last spring of logging everything I eat via MFP (even the sneaky chips from the DC's plate). Starting weight this morning is 14st 4.75lbs - I have just checked and that is 8lbs more than 1st May last year, so losing 7lbs would put me back to pretty much the same weight as a year ago.

Rshard · 01/05/2019 10:36

Excited to start! I’ve actually been being good since Monday and it feels so good to be in control again.

I low carb too @impossiblenovelty, via the bootcamp on here. Hopefully we can share some tips and ideas.

Today:
Breakfast- scrambled eggs, avo
Lunch - Greek salad, hm coleslaw and chicken
Dinner - tbc

I’m also trying to get back into running, got into a great routine last year but have struggled to get back into it. Perhaps this evening while my dd is swimming. Does anyone else run?

DeadButDelicious congrats on losing more than two stone already Flowers

I know exactly what you mean about weightloss being a bit lonely, especially when you’re in it for the long run and don’t feel like talking to any “real” people, in case you fail somewhere further down the line.

That’s why these threads are so great. We can all support each other on this journey, regardless of whether we have half a stone or 10 stone to lose.

It sounds like you’re doing great!

Shakespearesglobe · 01/05/2019 10:45

Can I join please? Did really well last year and lost a stone and half - down to 9 stone 3. Weight crept up back to 9 7, and then I went on holiday and appear to have put a stone on in a week. Would really like to get down to 9 3 again although in a dream work would be 8 10. Weigh in yesterday at 67.2kg

CentralPerkMug · 01/05/2019 10:46

Hi everyone, I came on hoping to find a thread just like this one! I lost almost 4 stone last year with ww but have not even opened the app since early December despite still paying for it!!!! Thankfully I haven't gained anything at all back but really need to get back on it and loose another 2 stone.

I keep an eye on my blood sugars as had GDM previously and have noticed a definite decline recently and am possibly symptomatic of insulin resistance - terrible brain fog and fatigue (could be anything really!).

Am debating whether to try the blood sugar diet (bit nervous of the 800 cals as I Want to continue with lots of exercise). Or whether to get back on ww and just be mindful of reducing carbs. Will make a decision today instead of wasting time procrastinating about it like I have been doing for the last few weeks!

Good luck everyone!

fruitpastille · 01/05/2019 10:50

I an desperate to lose half a stone but seemingly unable to do it. I attempted it this time last year and still being rubbish! It would take me back to my old 'normal' weight of just over 10 stone if I managed it. Considering giving up alcohol for a few weeks to stop the accompanying nibbling.

Crazzzycat · 01/05/2019 10:54

My stats for this month:

Starting off at 81.7kg and am hoping to hit the 70s this month.

Re. what I’m doing differently this month:

  • I’ve started doing 16:8, which I’m finding a lot easier to do than just calorie counting
  • I’m hoping to get more exercise than usual this month
  • I’ve started a bullet journal to track stress levels and mood during the day.

I stopped emotional eating months ago, but the emotions are still there, so there’s always a risk of reverting back. I’m hoping that the bullet journal technique will help me to make more sense of why I feel the way I do. We’ll see...

Overall, I’m feeling very positive about this month. Let’s do this! Smile

carrottopper · 01/05/2019 10:54

I've been running up and down stairs lots!

ImpossibleNovelty · 01/05/2019 11:01

@Rshard That would be fab! Im always after meal inspiration. I’m swinging between wanting to do bootcamp and fast 800. Did bootcamp before and it was great but that’s when my migraines started Sad I am also keen on restarting running, but all my gear is in storage at the moment - excuses excuses!

Startoftheyear2019 · 01/05/2019 11:03

I'm in. I need others to keep me strong. 7lbs in May would be ideal. I'm 10.13 now. Thanks all.

Okki · 01/05/2019 11:09

What sort of meals would you have for 800 calories a day? I quite like the idea of the 5:2 program but I'm not keen on being hungry. Does anyone do that?
I weighed myself again this morning to start the month and I was 72kg exactly. Didn't start the day brilliantly food wise as popped in to my Mum's and she's made a fridge cake which she wanted me to try.

Had cereal and fruit for breakfast
L will be veg of some sort
D thinking lentil bolognaise.

I'm not very good at meal planning or sticking to it as I'm not that interested in cooking especially when I'm tired. So will have to crack in with forward planning and early meal prep.

In fact shall go and make the bolognaise now. Have a good day everyone.
