Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Split. Not omit. Hmm

Hi everyone. Had a good day food wise. Also went for a long walk this afternoon. Ruining my efforts now though as on my second vodka and soda. I’m trying to drink it very slowly, it’s hard. I’m thinking I’ll alternate with just soda water. Thinking about the crisps I’ll no doubt want later on...

cricketmum84 · 04/05/2019 19:22

@Somuchroom I'm raising my G&T to you!

I've had a busy day so haven't eaten yet (I'll be pissed after this one lol). Having a cauliflower cheese burger for tea, quite high in points but it's my veggie treat :)

Done a little vegan shop this morning before we do the big shop tomorrow at Aldi. Got plenty of interesting things to try like marinated tofu, Indian falafels, green sausages(!!) and jackfruit.

Trying to stay off the scales until next Friday! I don't think weighing more than once weekly does me any good!

My new job is at a gym chain and one of the perks of working there is free membership so hoping to get out to the gym tomorrow and Monday.

Also about to book a holiday for last couple of weeks in July so I really do have something to give me a kick to lose as much as possible before then. Last time we went abroad (october) I had to ask for a seatbelt extender and I WILL NOT put myself in that position again.

Hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend and BOSSES IT!!!

Hello All - well this week hasn't been too bad at all (so far).

Exercise - 2 x horse riding, 2 x bike rides, 1 x gym session and the usual 10,000 steps a day.

Diet - I've come in below my calorie allowance each day and appetite has been under control mainly. I managed to munch my way through a giant bag of Discos on the train home one day but never mind!

Weird weather today here - we've had sun, wind, hail, rain and back to sun. Currently sat with a glass of red, hair mask on, face mask on and foot mask on....I look a delight 😉.

Happy Saturday all!

Wellthatwastricky · 04/05/2019 19:48

Hi all,

So impressed with how everyone is getting on.

I've been "on the wagon" for 12 days and I've already lost 5lbs! Probably just water retention but I feel different.

I'm curious to know whether others aim to stay in diet mode 7 days out of 7, or if you allow yourself guilt-free time? Following from Deadbutdelicious Fuck it Friday, I am having a "sod it saturday". I've found knowing I can relax and indulge tonight has helped me resist other temptations and it feels more sustainable but I do hope it doesn't slow down the loss. About to tuck into pizza Grin

DeadButDelicious · 04/05/2019 20:12

That's exactly it. If I know I'm having a treat on Friday it helps me resist the temptation to hop on too just eat during the week (being able to order food online is my major downfall) because it will spoil the proper treat on Friday. I don't know why it works but it does.

Somuchroom · 04/05/2019 20:24

“Sod it Saturday” 😂, amen.

DeadButDelicious · 04/05/2019 20:30

I am very proud of myself. As I said husband had the old snipperoo today and is feeling decidedly sorry for himself this evening. I asked him what he wanted for his tea and he said he fancied fish and chips (he weighs about 7 stone wet through so can eat whatever he wants. Git.) I went to get them for him and didn't get anything for myself. I came home and cooked myself a meal. A few weeks ago I would of thought bugger it and ordered in. That's progress right there.

Total calories today 1,583. For dinner I had a veggie burger, veg, oven baked wedges and a nakd bar. Not enough water though so I'm rectifying that now.

VivaFrida · 04/05/2019 21:47

Awesome DeadButDelicious - good food choices there!

cricketmum84 - what a great perk free gym membership! Your job sounds really great.

Wellthatwastricky - I too have larger meals now and again, not structured as once per week but certainly have occasional domino's & build in some space in the day for things like chocolate, etc. I also think my food allowance is much higher than some of us so i can have quite a bit of food and some form of 'treat' every day.

My weekend is going well so far, pleased to say that not only I have sorted out the (in)famous clothes cupboard (a 3 hour job...) but I also went for my first run in ages today! I did only 6.5km (about 4 miles) and very slowly but it's a start! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!

Haven’t weighed in yet today, but wore a pair of trousers yesterday that I bought pre-kids. Yay! I love that feeling when things fit better, it just puts that slight spring in my step.

Am waiting to get to sub 68kg before I do a new wardrobe splurge and charity shop any of my “big” clothes. I don’t want to feel like I’ve got a safety net, this is my new weight, and I will stick to it.

Yesterday meals
B- Marks & Spencer’s ham and cheese rollitos (broke my fast cos I was STARVING)
L - chicken and veg
D- pork belly, stir fry veg

Plans for today:
B- coffee
L- cheese salad
D- roast lamb and veg

OhTheRoses · 05/05/2019 07:15

After my loss the other day, have now gone up 1.5lb - yesterday and today. Makes it very demotivating! Have to turn it round by weigh in on Tuesday.

ellaballoo · 05/05/2019 07:29

Right , I am a bit late , but I’m here ! I am vastly overweight and keep on losing half a stone then putting it on again . Am hoping you lot can motivate me !

Managed to limit myself to scrambled egg on toast at the breakfast buffet, (ok, and a cheeky yogurt) so a good start to the day.

cricketmum84 · 05/05/2019 09:14

Busy day today! DS has an U15s cricket match at 9, means we are sat in the cold until about 12. Then for lunch the kids have begged to go to a Chinese buffet place near home. I will need to really pull back in points for the rest of the week!

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

Swearwolf · 05/05/2019 10:10

I'm really struggling this week. I don't feel like I've eaten badly, I'm making a huge effort to stay on the wagon. And I've gained two pounds HmmSad

teyem · 05/05/2019 10:38

Didn't have a great day yesterday. I hadn't planned well enough so when it got to dinner and had no idea what to put together I broke and ate rubbish.

I don't know, weekends are hardest. Maybe I should start making a batch of something filling and healthy on Friday to ransack on Saturday/ Sunday like a veg chilli?

Slippershoes · 05/05/2019 10:52

Thank you for the encouragement. Weighed myself today and am 1lb down so now 11st 5 Grin

DeadButDelicious · 05/05/2019 11:00

Got up got dressed, popped to the shop and got some paracetamol for DH and took the dog straight out for a walk, DD is on a sleepover at her Nan's so I'm taking advantage of this and getting a kickstart on the day and catching up on all my jobs.

Meal plan today is:

B: All bran, whole milk and my multivitamin.

L: Chicken breast with veg, half a potato baked and a slice of malt loaf.

D: Veggie burger with veg, the other half of the potato and a nakd bar.

Bringing me in at around 1,498. Ish. If my weights are right.

Lookingforpizza · 05/05/2019 12:07

Hello!
Having a bit of a lazy day and feeling a bit “fuck it”. I was going to go to the gym but I am quite tired from a lot of exercise yesterday and I’m out on a walk all day tomorrow so don’t want to wake up feeling tired again.
I’ve no plans to move until about 3pm for a quick dash to the supermarket before going out with friends. I’m going to eat dinner before meeting friends so I’m not tempted to eat anything while I’m out, and going to try and stick with vodka and diet cokes or just soft drinks/water! Today’s food:
B: Alpen with milk
L: Ham Roll
D: salmon, quinoa and bulgar wheat with salad
I’ve bought some chocolate yesterday which I’ll probably have this afternoon, as I’m not having an active day I’m accepting that my calorie deficit will be low ( if there is a deficit at all!)

Somuchroom · 05/05/2019 12:53

Had a binge last night, 6 vodkas, 2 bags of crisps, 4 Jaffa cakes and some olives. Definitely could have been worse! I went upstairs for a wee and took a good drunk look at my body and that made me stop eating Grin

Today I’ve just had poached egg and salmon on toast, however meeting some old drinking buddies and going to something to eat so this weekend is just a write off really! Good luck all!

grafittiartist · 05/05/2019 12:55

Can I join you all please?
Since Christmas I have been half a stone over my top weight :( And I can't be bothered to do anything about it.
So- if I join this thread I have to! No plan- just to cut the crap and eat more protein/ less empty carbs.

ImpossibleNovelty · 05/05/2019 14:39

Updating for this grey Sunday afternoon. The meal out yesterday was unsurprisingly carb heavy, including a delicious dessert. But back on track today with eggs and smoked salmon for brunch and sausage casserole for dinner. Slightly hungover though so might need some snacks too! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend Smile

VivaFrida · 05/05/2019 14:46

Hello, so today we walked 10 miles at this charity walk and afterwards I was absolutely famished! We went to Wagamama for our post walk lunch and I had chicken ramen with the lighter vegetable broth and at home 2 mini sugar free chocolate eggs. Feel knackered now and may have a nap!

Got distracted from posting here by moving house (actually I had 2 places as I worked away, now I don’t so moved all my stuff back to one base). I lost 1.2 kg last week! So pleased as I have been really struggling to even keep a regime going for a week. Looks like giving up my job was a fab move for my mental health. I’ve joined the gym and have been every day I actually could since.
Here’s to next week’s weigh in.
