Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Weighed today and had lost 1lb to add to the 7lb in May. Have put my little ww super 7 on my car key. Had a spag bol for 1 last night and it really filled me up. Would usually eat twice that so it's all about portion control here. Have had a salad nicoise for lunch and a small can of Heinz vegetable soup. Just needed something warm and unctious. Just having a salmon steak and veg stir fry for dinner tonight though. And have a couple of melons to prep for breakfasts for the next few days.

Well done everyone

@FattySmith have you tried following something like the 16:8 diet? (eating during only 8 hours a day)

I’m doing that at the moment and find it quite an easy way to restrict calories. I’m allowing myself 1400 a day, but come in below that most days as there’s only so much food you can squeeze into 8 hours, especially if you’re already used to diet sized meals.

It’s definitely worth a look if you’re struggling on 1200 kcal

I use MFP -Mine has plateaued more recently as I am so close to my goal weight of 9st ((2lbs off) lost 1st 8lb (10 kg) so far I have revised my goal weight to 8st 9lb tho so 8lbs to go it's getting harder because I'm at the gym and walking lots so I'm toning up and muscle weighs more than fat so even tho my waist, hips and back are still losing inches my weight has been the same for about 3 weeks I've not ever put weight on I just plateau for a bit occasionally I've also got less weight to lose now as I have a healthy BMI I weigh in every Friday and on gym days coz they have a machine there that measures body fat to!

Evening all!

Well 'Fuck It Friday' was a resounding success Grin definitely over my usual allowance. But not hideously so I don't think. I don't track today as the whole point of it is to allow myself a day off from it all. Back to the usual tomorrow and I'm actually looking forward to it. As nice as a treat is, it is just that, a treat, not a way of life. I'm finally learning that.

Slightly annoyed that my Apple Watch didn't log any of my exercise today, we walked for ages round town and the museum, it didn't log any of it. Now I keep on staring at the ring. Might drag the dog out. Bloody technology!

Took the dog out. Made sure it was tracking this time Hmm.

So that's my 30 minute walk for the day done and dusted. Dog isn't impressed. It's a bit drizzly. She doesn't like drizzle. Grin

I've had a terrible food day. Coffee for breakfast, Greggs vegan sausage roll for dinner which brought on acid reflux so bad I had to excuse myself from work for 10 minutes to go buy gaviscon. Luckily my offices are located in a swanky city centre shopping centre so I didn't have to go far. Then I've had 2 slices of mushroom pizza and a glass of wine for tea!! That'll teach me to forget my salad on a morning!

My body needs fruit and veg!!

@DeadButDelicious my cat is the same. Stands at the door and refuses to set a paw outside if there's so much as one raindrop but then goes stir crazy and starts climbing curtains and door frames so I just force her out 😂

I started using my fitness pal on Tuesday and I’ve lost 5 pound already! I’ve never done good old fashioned calorie counting before and I’m really enjoying it!

It’s been a real eye opener seeing how high calorie some foods are, I always cook everything from scratch and consider most of what I cook to be healthy but I must have been eating over 3000 calories a day.

Also been attempting to do my ten thousand steps a day and have only managed 7000-8000 but that’s about double than what I was doing before, I have done a couple of fitness blender low impact beginner sessions too and really liked it, I’m hoping to do them two or three times a week.

My starting weight was 15.9 and I’m 15.4 now. I’d like to achieve a short term goal of 13st and then see how I feel from there. I would still be overweight but last time I felt comfortable was about that weight, I carry weight quite well up to a certain point but I crossed that about two stone ago Grin

Good morning all ... it's

Star Day 4 Star

How is it going? We have passed the middle of the first week... and it's the weekend so we can put in a lot more steps/exercise/runs/whatevs tan during the week! What are your plans?

Yesterday I managed to stay en pointe... just... it's always difficult when working away ... lunch was quite carby although healthy = starving later on = slightly more carbs dinner=dangerous vicious circle starting.... an in fact this morning I had sneaky peek o the scale and did not like what I saw, a few days ago I had seen flickering a 59.9 and now it's back to 60.4... sob! drama! (not really but, you know, annoying!).

So, decisions decisions and I am stopping these sneaky peeks of the scales because they are not good for my metal health - I started the challenge at 60kg on Tuesday and I am not weighing again until next Tuesday, and then every Tuesday in May. If my weigh loss slows down a bit because I am now nearing my goal it does not matter. I must remind myself that I am changing my lifestyle not going for a quick fix and then putting it all back on.

This morning: I did 1 hour 10 minutes of hard workout, really enjoyed it. The plan for this weekend is to sort out my clothes cupboard - clean the house with da fam, go for walks with them, in general chillax and be happy.

Hi all. Best wishes to you all for a ‘mindful’ weekend of healthy habits. Wink

I started Slimming World 10 days ago. Joining this thread as now it’s the time where I need to really consider the long term and sustained changes that will impact on weight loss and sustained target.

I ‘will’ be 10.1 by 6th June Halo That will be half a stone off.

I am wary of the 1lb loss one week and 1lb gain the next. Today is my danger zone. Had a difficult and emotional week. Stayed on track and one thing tipped me over yesterday and eating went to pot. That’s fine, Tis the normal roller coaster of life. It is today that implementing change needs to happen. Simply - get back on wagon. Flowers.

Today will take time to discover a new way of taking care of myself (self soothing) that doesn’t have any hint of self-harm, ie, cake, contacting STBXH, spending money. Just give myself time to come down from all the adrenaline.

As I use MFP I weight some food when I can't guess from a packet and it's so surprising how little cereal you can have for 30grams and how bad fuzzy drinks are!! - I think the problem is a lot of people underestimate how much they're eating I know I did til I started my weight loss journey! I used to make spag Bol from scratch and it's actually not too bad calorie wise just over 300 which isn't bad for dinner but then I'd have 100grams of white spaghetti! Now I have less than a full portion of bolognese and just 50 grams of brown spaghetti! This fills me up without the need for garlic bread too! Well done so far everyone!!

Morning. I didn't have the best day yesterday due to taking ds out to mod pizza for lunch. Scrambled eggs on toast for dinner plus wine and (small bag) crisps while watching a movie in the evening! I've already decided no wine tonight so I can have a glass tomorrow with line of duty Grin
I'm down to 10.7 and a half from 10.10 mid April so I'm determined to keep a downward trend as usually I just lose and gain the same 3 pounds over and over. I've been out for a two mile jog yesterday morning and today plus steps from walking. It's a struggle to get up early but a great start to the day especially when the sun is shining! Have a great weekend everyone.

I'm 11st 6 and half a stone in May would be awesome. I'm a bit of a mess currently as I'm hanging off the mfp wagon and getting upset about no loss leads me to the snack cupboard 😩

I’m planning to do a long walk this morning, at the end of a 16 hour fast, so I think that’s going to be a challenge 😬

I’m quite enjoying this 16:8 diet I’m following, but it means I don’t get to eat until 12. It fine when I’m at work (desk job), but at the weekend I kind of feel like my day can’t get started until I can eat, as I need more energy to do the things I want to do.

So, I’m going to see how far I can push myself. Wish me luck! (and don’t worry I’ll take a snack with me in case I need it!)

I've noticed since I started weighing out my cereal in the morning, just how much I was actually eating! Now I know what an actual 40 gram portion looks like and even better it's stopped looking so piddlingly small! Between that and tracking calories I'm developing a much better idea of what's a normal amount of food to eat.

Big weekend for us, husband is getting the snip today so I have to go into town and pick up some snug underwear for him as I forgot yesterday. So the plan is to pick up a sandwich while I'm out and about and be back for when he gets home. My dad is giving him a lift there and back.

Todays meal plan looks like:

B: All Bran cereal, whole milk with my multivitamin.

L: Sandwich, probably subway and around 400 cals.

D: Not sure yet. Maybe a curry. I do have all the ingredients.

Cricketmum84 my cats are the same! They are only interested in the summer! DDog is a rescue pug and a delicate little flower bless her.

I ate a trio cake crunchy bar for breakfast. It was there. I've now hidden them in the cupboard.

So I've had an early lunch now 80g mushrooms duck egg and a small slice of bread total under 200 cals

I now have 700 calories for the rest of the day

Love these kind of threads they’re so motivating! I’m a little late to the party but would love to join in!
I’m a week into slimming world and 3lbs down but got 2 stone to lose.
This morning I had a breakfast wrap- weightwatchers tortilla wrap, scrambled egg with loads of mushrooms, 2 heck chicken sausage and 2 bacon medallions and it was delicious!
Home alone today though so need to avoid the snack cupboard!

Thank you Crazzzycat for the idea- I haven’t tried it and will look into it. Like many of us seem to be I’m an evening snacker! I know it’s a habit I give too much power to.. I do, however find air popped microwave popcorn with salt helps satisfy my cravings in a fairly low cal way. Don’t think it’s any good for low carbers.

cricketmum84 I sympathise with you on your day yesterday. I find I’m fine if I spend a lot of time focusing on food, meal planning, batch cooking etc. But when that’s not possible/I cba it’s really hard to feel like I’ve had enough food when I end up buying stuff out. I’m curious about the Greggs vegan sausage roll though- I haven’t tried one yet!

Slippershoes I’m in a similar place to you. I keep having weeks where I don’t lose at all or only a fraction of a pound (0.2 last week!) it’s demoralising isn’t it. I have found that when this happens, if I keep at it then I seem to have a ‘sudden’ drop after a couple of weeks. I think it just slows down sometimes along the way. I keep telling myself so long as I don’t put any on then I’m still working towards my goal..

MummyBear I agree about portion size- I was shocked when I started! It explains me putting on weight at times when I thought I was eating fairly healthily.

Grin at the rain adverse pets. I had a cat who would ask to go out the back, see it was raining and then ask to go out the front like it would be different there!

It’s good to read everyone’s ideas and tips- just the motivation I need!

Happy Saturday everybody! Last night wasn’t too disastrous - had a few carby bits (and lots of wine) but much more protein and leafy veg so don’t feel bad this morning. So far today there’s been eggs and avocado for brunch and there’s a tasting menu on the cards for dinner. Exciting but rammed full of carbs and sugar. Will just have to get back on it tomorrow and be stricter when I can to make up for it Halo
Hope everyone is having a decent start to their bank holiday weekend Smile

My go-to snack now is a celery stick with nut butter spread in it which is satisfyingly crunchy, sweet, and takes a reasonable amount of time to eat. I like it as a snack in front of the telly but at the same time my DH is sitting next to me eating Easter eggs Angry

Hello all!
Fantastic start to the weekend - I did my first park run! It was extremely cold and windy, and I was very slow but I really enjoyed it. Heaps of steps and exercise for me as it takes me about 40 mins to get there walking, and 40 mins back (plus the actual 40 mins it took me to do the 5k Blush)
Spending weekend with DP who isn’t one for sitting around and eating junk food, so we’re off for a long walk this afternoon to the shopping centre for a mooch.

Today’s food:
Breakfast : Alpen and yoghurt with a latte
Lunch: Ham sandwiches
Dinner: home made chicken curry with a sweet potato.

Seeing as I’ve already burned 2200 calories today, I should be well well under! Gives me a good safety for tomorrow as I am out with friends in the evening for food and drinks, but will be doing a long walking day on Monday so not too worried about making it through the weekend!

Hang on in there slippershoes.

I didn’t lose anything for most of April, and even gained a pound. But then in the last of week I dropped over 2kg/ 5lbs.

Weightloss is just totally unpredictable.

Good morning everyone and positive vibes to all!

I'm still able to stay on track and I'm so thankful for that. It's a rainy weekend where I'm at, so probably just gonna be cuddling and watching movies.
Breakfast: coffee & fresh fruit
Lunch: salmon and veggie
Dinner: TBD
Snacks: popcorn
Workout: fitness blender on YouTube

Y'all have a super fabulous day!

Went to subway for lunch, I had the new vegan patty thing on 9 grain wheat, no cheese or sauce, toasted with salad. It was very tasty, quite spicy actually, I'd definitely have it again. Came out at 371 calories which isn't bad if you need to grab something on the go. I also omit a cookie with my mum so lunch came out at 466.

Still need to decide what to have for dinner though! Confused
