A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Had a lovely blow out last night round a friends - she cooks the most delicious baked mac and cheese (a million types of cheese, chicken, chorizo), and i had seconds, along with a glass of wine...

So April loss evened out to 2kg, rather than the 3.3 it was 5 days ago HmmHmm

But, onwards and upwards.

Have to stay on plan for today and tomorrow, as off on all-inclusive holiday Friday 😂

Starting stats!

Current weight: 90.5kg
May's start weight: 90.5kg
Loss in May: 0kg

Loss in April: 2kg
Loss in March: 1.7kg
Initial start weight 94.2kg
Total loss 2019: 3.7kg

I'll join in! I've put so much weight on over the last few years. Weighed 8 and a half stone at my lightest (in my twenties), now at my heaviest, 11 stone 4, in my forties. I'd like to get down below 10 stone again, but target for May is half a stone off. I'm doing various Slim Fast type shakes as this is the only way I can control overeating at breakfast and lunch and it has worked for me before.

DeadButDelicious · 01/05/2019 11:15

Crazzzycat Thank you! I've never shifted more than a stone before so to be at 2.6 is a real achievement for me. I'd love to have got it to 3 by the end of the month. I really feel like I can and want to do it this time. I've found a way that is working where I don't feel like I'm starving or depriving myself. I'm very happy to be on this journey with all of you.

I'm just back from my dog walk pushing the pram, before it starts raining and the dog won't go. So that's my 30 minutes exercise for the day.

This month I aim to hit 740 minutes of exercise, mostly because my Apple Watch challenged me to this morning and I do like those little award graphic thingers. Grin

Speakeasy22 · 01/05/2019 11:36

I'd like to join too please. Summer clothes are a good bit too tight so something has to be done! Am 164lbs. Half a stone would certainly help. Ideal weight would be 149lbs. I do lots of exercise - but drink lots of wine so that is the first thing that will have to change. Good luck everyone!

ShoopShoop · 01/05/2019 11:59

I'd like to join too if that's ok? Lost 10.5kg so far doing calorie counting and exercise for the last 10 weeks.

Got at least another 10kg to go and it would be great to be part of a "gang" for accountability!

We can do it! 💪🏻

I’ve weighed in this morning at 10st13. Target is 9st12 and will be happy with 10st8 by the end of May. I’ve had a breakfast of one weetabix with berries and having a small ham sandwich with salad for lunch. Any tips on quick and easy lower carb lunches? I don’t cope well without carbs but I’m trying to make one meal a day lower carb. Breakfast and dinner are usually pretty healthy but I struggle to make good choices at lunch time. I need to plan better! Before bed is also my downfall. That’s when I get the chocolate craving. I used to have an options hot chocolate if I needed something sweet so need to get back into the habit of doing that again.

I like MyFitnessPal, does anyone pay for the premium one? Is it worth it?

fruitpastille · 01/05/2019 12:12

For low carb lunch I buy precooked chicken pieces and eat them with salad, tomatoes and a spoon of coleslaw or cottage cheese (the delicious full fat longley farm stuff). Sometimes I have grilled halloumi instead of chicken in which I sometimes have a falafel as well and tzatziki.

KTCluck · 01/05/2019 12:23

Ooh I’d enjoy that and it’s pretty easy, thanks fruitpastille

Taylortaylor · 01/05/2019 12:23

Can I also join please? I had baby no. 3 in April and I weighed myself this morning. I am 14 stone (88kg) none of my clothes fit, my shape is all soft and squishy and I don’t know how to dress myself anymore. I need to lose 3 stone over the year, my eating habits are appalling so going to start wearing my Fitbit and using MyFitnessPal daily. Hope checking in here will help as I need support 😊

Tightarseparent1 · 01/05/2019 12:26

I’ve has big losses on Cambridge Diet. Lost six pounds this week.

fruitpastille · 01/05/2019 12:28

So far today have had porridge for breakfast (I use a 1/3 cup measure), banana for snack and have got Aldi fish sushi for my lunch (244 cals). Unfortunately I've also eaten a cold chicken thigh as was hungry and it was going out of date today! On the plus side I've already done 10,000 steps.

snooksmcgee · 01/05/2019 12:30

I'd like to join in too please!
I had a bit of a wake up call last week after having my weight recorded for a routine hospital appointment, and it was more than I have ever weighed before.

Weight today: 17st
Goal for end of may: 16st 7lbs
Goal for Xmas 2019: 14st
I'm going to be allowing myself 1500 calories per day and using the my fitness pal app to record all my meals to keep track. I'm also giving up wine as I have been drinking far too much recently.

My husband has managed to lose a few stones recently after really struggling for many years, so it's given me some motivation.

cakeaddict · 01/05/2019 12:33

For lower-carb lunches I like omelettes or frittata with plenty of veg and salad, or things like salade nicoise with tuna and hard-boiled egg - although I do work at home so it's reasonably easy to quickly cook something.
Well, OK, not always that easy but that's one of my goals - to eat real, nutritious food and not spend half the day grazing instead of eating a proper meal... time on my own in the house when I'm not responsible for feeding anyone else is one of my downfalls!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 01/05/2019 12:40

I shall weigh myself this afternoon. Need to go collect a parcel from the sorting office. Could drive...... But hoping I make myself walk 🥴

GottaGetUp · 01/05/2019 13:17

67.6kg this morning, from 70.3kg at the beginning of April.

I normally float around 65kg, then at some point I start to gain, hit 70kg and decide to do something about it. I have comfortably got down to 62-63kg before, and once 60kg but that was very quickly and not very sensibly and didn't stay there long at all.

So, I have a number of goals in stages:

65kg back to 'normal'
62kg back to feeling good
60kg just to see if I can do it sensibly and stick there.

BMI would be 21.7 at 60kg.

So, 3kg off in May would be a good.

GottaGetUp · 01/05/2019 13:18

Oh, and the new thing for this month is that I've just been told my cat is fat, so we're both on a diet!

teyem · 01/05/2019 13:23

Hello, can I get in on this too please? I'm 11stone 9 and want to get back down to 11 stone. I'm going to be 40 in June and so hoping to get somewhere close by then. I've already started dieting a week or so ago so I've already collected on the initial
water loss boost

Thatsnotmyotter · 01/05/2019 13:29

Hello, can I join you?
Weighed myself today and I’m 61kg. I’m an athletic build and am below pre-baby weight now (7 months PP, was 63kg when I conceived and pretty much went down to that a couple of weeks after birth) but could definitely do with getting down to 57/58kg to be at peak physical performance and have a big event (half Ironman) coming up in Sept.

I’m used to eating whatever I like and just training to make up for it but it’s much more difficult with a small baby! We’ve just started (very gentle) sleep training in preparation for me to go back to work in a couple of weeks and I’m shattered so have already eaten loads of rubbish today! I need some friendly motivation not to reach for the biscuits!

I’ve eaten two slices of toast with jam, a triple pack of chicken wraps, a kitkat and a kinder bueno already today 😩😩😩

Rshard · 01/05/2019 14:29

Excellent @impossiblenovelty!

Lots of good low carb lunch options @KTCluck, I’m a huge fan of halloumi. I tend to eat salad with a protein and some fat, usually mayo at lunch time.

Happily ignoring the usual cake and biscuits in the office.

Swearwolf · 01/05/2019 14:57

Can I please join your lovely group? I've been trying to lose my (3 year old) baby weight for the last couple of years - as someone unthread said, I start off well, start feeling good about it and relax a bit, and it all piles back on.

Currently 10.4 and hoping to get to 9 and a half - would settle for 9.10 by the start of July. Which is half a stone almost exactly! I'm only 5'2" so that would take me out of the overweight category at last.

I'm doing well at the moment by restricting calories, trying to stick to 1200 a day. Logging with MFP but am rubbish at logging dinners. I've massively cut down on alcohol and we're trying to eat less pasta (and by extension, less cheese) as those are the worst areas for gluttony for me. I'm also starting a ten week c25k course with the local running club tonight and I can't wait! I really struggle to get exercise in and have always been a terrible runner, but hoping that if I can get into it I'll be able to fit exercise in around everything else rather than the other way around.

Anyway, I'm feeling quite thin today so super optimistic for weighing myself on Sunday!

Somuchroom · 01/05/2019 16:27

Hi all, I’m in!
Put 4st on when pregnant and managed to get it all off and some. Got down to 8st 7lbs and was really happy with how I looked. Then I literally stuffed my face all day every day last month and am back up to 9st 6lbs. 7lb loss in May sounds good. I plan to weigh every monday.

I need to shrink my stomach back down so am not eating anything until 12pm where I have a healthy small lunch. I refuse to restrict myself at dinner and I’ll have a pudding. Going for a run every night and doing YouTube workout 2/3 nights a week. On day 3. May reevaluate this plan if I get to Monday and haven’t lost anything!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 01/05/2019 17:08

9th Feb - 12st 3.2lbs
1 Mar - 11st 9.8lbs
1 Apr - 11st 4.2lbs
1 May - 10st 10lbs

April loss : 8lbs
Total loss : 1 stone 7lbs 😀

I have been 10st 10lbs since April 25th. Bit annoying but now I see the whole journey so far I am quite pleased 😁

cricketmum84 · 01/05/2019 17:35

Well I started off really well today! Strawberries for breakfast with a coffee made with oat milk.
Quorn Thai style bites and salad for lunch.

Then went for a glass of wine with my sister, got an almond milk chai latte and a bit bar from Costa and BOOM all ww points gone!!

Looks like it's dust for tea 😂

cricketmum84 · 01/05/2019 17:35

Should say nut bar not bit bar!!

ImpossibleNovelty · 01/05/2019 18:20

@FunkyBarnYardBroom That’s impressive weightloss. Good work Star Sorry if you’ve already said and I missed it (fast moving thread!) but what plan are you following?
