Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May

VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:44

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

I started off another day on the cross trainer. Exercising in the middle of my fasting window is starting to get a little bit easier, but it’s nevertheless still challenging.

I somehow got lost during my afternoon walk yesterday, so a 30 minute walk turned into something much much longer 🙈 My FitBit says I burnt 3500 kcals. That may be a bit of an overestimation, but I definitely burnt quite a few calories.

Wellthatwastricky · 23/05/2019 14:10

Well done everyone!

Argh shoelace, no air con sounds hellish. Hope you have it fixed pronto!

I have been dieting for one month exactly. This feels important to me, as I've made several attempts since second DC was born 21 months ago to lose weight, but nothing has stuck past one month. So here I am, and this time I feel motivated and keen to keep going.

I am a bit shocked and embarrassed that the last time I painted my toenails a few weeks back, I struggled to reach and my stomach got in the way and I found it hard to breatheBlush I've finally got around to redoing them, and it was easy this time, I could comfortably reach. It's wonderful I've reversed it, but I'm still a bit shocked too as I'd somehow convinced myself I couldn't reach because my back was stiff, or something 🙈

Bank holiday on the horizon, I struggled with the early May one and staying on track. Need to stay strong.

Hi everyone, sorry I've been quiet for a few days. I had forgotten how manic the life of a payroll manager is the week before payday! I'm exhausted!

Well done on the losses so far :) I'm not sure what the scales will hold for me tomorrow, I've been so busy that I haven't really eaten until an evening and maybe grabbed a banana or a latte during the day.

Wallywobbles · 23/05/2019 20:51

So in a month date to date I have lost 8kg so that's good. A little less than the highly ambition plan but not much. I'm doing the 8 week blood sugar diet I think more or less. Roughly 800 calories a day apart from a couple of glasses of red wine too many on fuck it Friday last week.

Never hungry but occasionally knackered. Which seems odd as I shouldn't be having highs and lows, maybe I need to sleep more.

VivaFrida · 24/05/2019 08:47

Helloooo! Welcome everyone to

Star day 24 Star

Sooo last night I may have been subjected to the lure of room service and netflix (oriental salmon with noodles and peppers followed by one or two hot chocolates - probably something like a million calories and two million ww points - in any incarnation) - however a good dinner and a good sleep did wonders for my energy levels and this morning woke up at 5.30 and went out for a 14.2km run!! (that's 8.8 miles babies!!).

So I don't think I have lost any weight i the past two days but hopefully with the run, exercise (I have also done 2 hard cardio youtube workouts yesterday) and the general moving here and there following works of art that my job requires the damage won't be too drastic.

Sorry I am not interacting this morning but am writing this quickly at hotel breakfast (eggs, tomatoes, alpen, fruit, zero percent yogurt, one slice of toast) before walking to work.

Have a super lovely day!!

So after a weird ol' week and a bit of a meh approach to it all... I am now back to where I started at the beginning of May!
If you include what I out on on holiday, I am near target.. (when I got home I weighed 93.3 kg..)
But start of the month to now I am on a 0 gain 0 loss....

Current weight: 90.5kg
May's start weight: 90.5kg
Loss Gain in May: 0kg

Initial start weight: 94.2kg
Total loss in 2019: 3.7kg

sazzle27 · 24/05/2019 09:18

Well done on your run Viva, that's incredible! And an awesome amount of willpower too!
You're right - a good night's sleep works wonders!

snooksmcgee · 24/05/2019 12:41

Today is my official weigh day (It used to be monday, but changed to friday as I allow myself a little treat over the weekend!)

Weight 1/5/2019: 17st
Weight today: 16st 4lbs

So a 10lbs weight loss for May so far, really pleased with how it's going so far.
Well done to everyone on their losses.

Lookingforpizza · 24/05/2019 14:19

Hello all!

Just a quick check in from me, I buggered up my food prep and there’s still snacks in the office so I’m over my limit today, but should still have deficit? Luckily I went out for food last night and didn’t go mad and enjoyed the treat. Just need to be focused through the long weekend, with the hopes of reaching sub 80 by next week!

Hope everyone has a fab weekend, and keep on going everyone!

BrillyPribble · 24/05/2019 15:09

Hello all, I've had a good week this week. I managed a yoga class for the first time in about 3 years, very chuffed but also quite shocked how much I've stiffened up.
I've kept between 1100 and 1300 calories and haven't really been particularly hungry. Going out for pizza tonight though which is a challenge!

QRCode · 24/05/2019 15:24

wally great loss - if that was me, I'd have met my end of August goal already! You must have been really focused, well done.

viva great run!

snooks well done on your loss too.

I'm creeping down by 100g or staying the same - still hoping for a whoosh before the 4 June deadline. 3.9kg lost since 1 May, goal is 5kg.

DH has been away since 12 May and is not back until next Thursday, so he should notice a difference (not just my suntan - last night on skype he said 'I think you can stop sunbathing now'!!) Anyone would think I looked like this and I'm very, very far from that colour!

Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May
cardibach · 24/05/2019 17:40

Nailed it! 3kg off (stayed a few days before the end of April, but my first weigh in was in May).
I’m finding it reasonably easy to manage, and maintaining gym trips. I find I like podcasts better than music on cardio machines as I don’t get bored that way.

Gobblebox · 24/05/2019 17:53

Intermittent fasting. Basically skip breakfast. Then progress to skipping breakfast and lunch. Then just have a snack then dinner all within four hours. Nothing except water / black coffee/tea for 20 hours of the day. A revelations. No hunger and 25lb off since January. Who knew. Loads on YouTube about it. Eat what I want when I’m actually eating (four hours a day). All to do with hormones not calories.

cricketmum84 · 24/05/2019 21:23

Major fail tonight. No kids for a whole week while they are on holiday with grandparents.

Just has a 3 in 1 tray from the Chinese (half rice half chips and a scoop of your favourite sauce, omg it's the future) with a side of Salt and pepper tofu. Half saved for tomorrow. And I'm not even sorry. I'll take the gain for just how good it was. I'm also having a violet gin and tonic.

Sourdoughpizza · 24/05/2019 21:52

Still going!

Last weeks weigh in was 11st 6, so 1lb loss and a total of 3.5lb (started a week into May so happy so far!).

1lb is good although I am not sure why I haven't lost more but I have been exercising more (and muscle weighs more than fat?!) and drinking more water. Early days though.

I think I need to look at what proportion of calories I am getting from protein/fat/carbs -are these good guidelines:

www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/what-are-reference-intakes-on-food-labels/

OhTheRoses · 25/05/2019 07:25

I am going to get on the scales in a minute after three conference days and lashings of wine. Carried on yesterday as started travelling at 4am and ate my normal diet for stodge. Chicken sarnie, curry with a small naan and more wine. Will let you know the damage shortly.

cricketmum84 · 25/05/2019 07:45

Weigh in day for me and I've lost another 3lbs!! I really think it's cutting out meat and dairy that's super charged my losses.

May starting weight: 21 stone 6
Current weight: 20 stone 4
Loss for May so far: 16lbs
Loss for 2019 so far: 4 stone 12lbs

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, we have a kid free week so should be lovely and stress free!

OhTheRoses · 25/05/2019 08:26

1.5lb increase due to conference sabotage. Not as bad as I anticipated and am happy with that.

Ladyyoyo · 25/05/2019 08:47

Hi all,
I have been away for a while as I have been very busy and was so exhausted that I was unable to post message in the evening ! This weekend should be 😌. I have been able to stay on rack, even with quick and easy diners . Pickslim method really works for me as I am so far at 7 lbs, in spite of the little extra I have on weekends. Meal replacement sachets are very efficients. Will keep you posted as I will go for a run to enjoy the nice weather. Have a great weekend.

BrillyPribble · 25/05/2019 13:06

Ladyyoyo what is the Pick slim method?

I had a lovely meal out with my DH yesterday, put it all in MFP, only ended up 100 cals over daily limit in the end so happy with that. I really want this to be a sustainable lifestyle change rather than a temporary diet so being able to incorporate a 'normal' meal out is important.
WhT I'm realising is how much less I need to eat than I was doing before. I'm not particularly hungry between meals but even when I am, I'm realising that being a bit hungry before a meal is OK and actually probably how it should be!

VivaFrida · 25/05/2019 17:14

Hello! It's

Star day 25 Star and I am having a bit of a sod it Saturday (a beer and some crisps) to celebrate the fact that my scale's batteries need replacing so my weight is a mystery Wink!

But I agree BrillyPribble - it's really important to 'diet' within a 'normal' lifestyle where there will be meals out or, like in my case, drinking some of DH's ale and crisps whilst watching an old trex concert. Party like it's 1969!!

Buon weekend a tutti e tutte!

OP posts:
Sourdoughpizza · 25/05/2019 18:11

I agree it has to be sustainable. I'm feeling a bit more cheered, I had a look at the NHS website, there are some great resources:
mealmixer.change4life.co.uk/

printable sheets! : www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/start-the-nhs-weight-loss-plan/

I think if I shave off 100 calories I should be able to lose 2lb a week. Muscle burns more calories than fat so it should pick up if I keep going with exercise!

Wellthatwastricky · 25/05/2019 21:37

I've become a bit addicted to daily weighing - and was amazed to see this morning I have now lost 5lbs over the last 9 days. It means since I started a month ago I've lost 11 (or 13! If I take my scales higher reading I got) lbs - I'm so chuffed as when I started part of me didn't believe it would work.

Interesting what you say sourdough about shaving off a further 100 calories. I've been doing just that. MFP allocates me 1200 a day but I've been averaging 1000 - 1050. I feel happier knowing I've got some leeway and I hope it continues to pay off.

First time I've not done sod it saturday! Had a very healthy BBQ with the children instead of the weekly takeaway. However, I'm not ruling out the possibility of Screw it Sunday Wink

shoelace88 · 26/05/2019 00:18

Good afternoon everyone! Quick check in for me. I've been able to stay on track with food and working out this week. Our AC was out since Monday and we got it replaced Friday.

Brunch: salad
Dinner: TBD
Snack: parfait and cherries
Workout: fitness blender

Keep kicking ass peeps! 💪💪Congratulations on all the losses 👍🥳🏅

OhTheRoses · 26/05/2019 09:15

Well my May loss so far is about 2lb. Combined with April that's 9lb. It may have been more due to last week's sabotage but hoping to be 1lb lighter at formal weigh in, pushed this week to Tuesday.

In some ways rather depressing but at least it's going down.

Planned food today:

2 boiled eggs
Salad for lunch with cottage cheese
Salmon fillet and salad
1 g&t

Similar tomorrow:
Yoghurt
Salad
Chicken with mushrooms and veggies (no rice for me)

Chicken recipe: two chicken breasts finely sliced, packet button mushrooms, add juice of one lemon, black pepoer and paprika and leave for 40 mins. Heat on high until chicken cooked then turn down and add a small pot of single cream. Feels treaty but calories are quite low for the result.
