A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Good luck with the job Funky! And good work Deadbut and cricket!

I can't seem to get past the 5lbs weight loss barrier. I don't know whether it's my own silly fault for Sod it Saturdays, undoing my good work. I just feel like I've been gaining and losing the same 7-10lbs for the last year and I desperately want to break that barrier, until I do I feel like I'm destined never to back to the "old" me. I'm also wondering if it's more of a struggle post-kids for my body to make changes, I used to be able to shed weight really quickly in my 20s.

Good luck this week everyone.

snooksmcgee · 13/05/2019 10:14

My official weigh day today: I've now lost 6lbs since the beginning of may. I did lots of walking over the weekend, managing 8,000 steps on saturday and 10,000 on sunday.

I'm going to try to stop weighing myself everyday this week, which is easier said then done!
Good luck to everyone for this week.

Sourdoughpizza · 13/05/2019 10:32

Sunday weigh in: 2.5 lb lost this week.

Goals this week are to eat three meals at regular times (skipping lunch or late lunch is my nemesis).

7.30am/1pm/7pm.

Also aiming to do some exercise.

Its 10.30 and not had breakfast, but its bank holiday!

ImpossibleNovelty · 13/05/2019 11:02

Good luck funky! And well done all you losers Grin I’m back to 12 stone now which is a little frustrating as it’s where I was at the start of May. But on the other hand it’s good to know that I can get over a blip and get back to my previous weight in a week. Today’s meals
B - nuts and babybel
L - cauliflower cheese and bacon
D - prawn stir fry
S - dark chocolate

shoelace88 · 13/05/2019 12:48

Good morning everyone! Weigh in day for me.

Starting weight: 155.6 lbs
Last week: 149.4 lbs
Today: 148.4 lbs

I'm losing 1 lbs a week and I'm very proud of that. I know it's healthy to lose more but I'm fine with the one. I haven't had to count calories, I've just been focusing on eating healthy and working out.

Today is my daughter's birthday!
Breakfast: fruit and coffee
Lunch: eggs and veggies
Dinner: pizza and small slice birthday cake
Snack: apple & TBD
Workout: fitness blender

I hope everyone has a fabulous day! Stay strong and kick some ass today!

amarante · 13/05/2019 12:55

Can I also please join ?

Mssngvwls · 13/05/2019 14:01

Checking back in (only on MN infrequently). Lots of good weightloss going on!

I'm doing ok with a low-ish-carb thing but the weight loss in the beginning was rapid and it's slowed way down Sad it's feeling harder to keep to the diet and as always I find it so hard to fit in any proper exercise. Reading everyone else's experience is good though, it's a good reminder that not everyone else is stuffing themselves full of chocolate and donuts and staying slim (like my husband manages to do Hmm)

OhTheRoses · 13/05/2019 19:27

Ah just weighed. 1lb in the last two weeks. Really disheartening. Suppose it's better than gaining a lb.

Ladyyoyo · 13/05/2019 20:17

Hi all,
This morning for me was -0.7lbs ! I was happy .
Today meals were:
B : Porridge
L: chicken soup meal replacement with asparagus . Some blueberries
S: almond chocolate bar
D: asparagus with ham. And 1orange

So far, I stay on rack , and even if I am hunger mid afternoon, the snack is helping me. Tomorrow I will complete my first week.
Have a lovely evening

ImpossibleNovelty · 13/05/2019 22:44

I’m so hungry this evening. I had a nibble on DP’s Lindt ball (ooh err) and it’s set off a real sugar craving. Must go to bed before I really go off track. Hope everyone else’s resolve if holding up better.

VivaFrida · 13/05/2019 22:46

Hello!! Super late check in from your very now thread motivator at

Star DAY 13 Star

Groan, it has been a bit meh as I have been so super busy!! Train away at 6.20 (yes, really) and writing up a project on the train, not time for mums netting, then super super busy on site and found out about a professional opening which was closing tomorrow so after work (around sixish... aargh...12 hours... ) I had to write a job application form which took over 4 hours to complete. Done. But I had biscuits and hot chocolate to fuel my brain into the submission of a SIXTEEN HOURS (nearly 17...) work day!! I promised myself I would never do sixteen hours days... because they destroy my body clock, and make me not move and eat rubbish... but sometimes it needs to be done, and today was one of these days. Now bath, chill and bed. Run tomorrow morning!

I will also read back. Goodnight fellow fat fighters!!

OP posts:
Sourdoughpizza · 13/05/2019 23:33

Well done on your application!! Fingers crossed.

B Porridge nuts and berries.
L Turkey and goats cheese salad.
Toast, marmite and cheese snack (god I love toast)
D Thai salmon curry and rice
Pineapple for afters

Home juiced carrots and a kiwi

Missing chocolate today, found myself leafing through recipes for energy balls for when my fodmap diet comes to an end!

Mssngvwls · 14/05/2019 07:33

Busy day VivaFrida!

I managed out for a run last night. It was a stunning evening and loads of lovely friendly people out on the path, I ran for 30 minutes so I'm really happy. Was a nice experience for once!

Wellthatwastricky · 14/05/2019 07:39

VivaFrida that sounds like an intense day, but well done with the application - and good luck!

Official weigh in day for me, lost a pound since last check so that makes my weight loss for May 5lbs so far (and 6.5 since I started after the Easter weekend).

Pretty pleased with that - really want to get to the next 5-7lbs lost as that's when I think I might look different. Onwards!

Plans for today

B: don't eat
L: crudités and hard boiled egg
D: chicken in red pepper sauce and brown rice with salad
S: probs Ryvita and maybe a low cal ice cream

VivaFrida · 14/05/2019 07:45

Bonjour all slimetters mumnetters!

it's

Star DAY 15 Star

and I got up early and started the day with a 12km run (7.5 miles)! You see that's the thing about sugar, it's poison if you stand still but it's an amazing fuel if you run. I felt I could go on forever this morning.

However, I could also feel I am heavier and my pace was a good 2 mins/miles slower than when I am at my best running weight (53-56kg) so I think I am going to prioritise weight loss and bear with having rubbish runs than eating more calories and having better runs at the moment.

Hopefully I can put these couple of slips behind me and keep eating on plan like I have done so far. I want to get as far as 57kg by the end of the month. ROARRR!! I see a few of us are struggling with plateau/slips... let's put these behind us and see on keeping on, buddies!!

Have a badass day all Smile!

That's amazing, well done! Star

Crazzzycat · 14/05/2019 11:50

How’s everyone getting on today?

I’m having a major non-scale victory today! I’m wearing some trousers I bought 3 years ago. I couldn’t even do them up at that point, but still held on to them in the hope they’d spur me on to lose weight.

It’s taken a few years, but this year they finally turned into a great motivator. At the start of the year, I almost chucked them as I couldn’t imagine ever fitting into them. Last month I finally managed to do them up, but they were so tight! And now they fit perfectly 😊

It was exactly the motivation I needed, because when I jumped on the scales this morning, I’d somehow “gained” a kg overnight. Say what now?! I can’t work out if it’s the scales, or me, but it’s such an unlikely weight gain, I’m just going to ignore it for now.

ImpossibleNovelty · 14/05/2019 12:12

Brilliant work Crazzzycat - what a nice NSV! I have a pair of trousers that I bought in December for a holiday but didn’t take as they were too tight. Now they’re too loose and look ridiculous. Hurrah. Ignore the scales, it’s impossible to put on a kg overnight, it’s either a measurement error or change in water weight.

Lookingforpizza · 14/05/2019 12:41

Aww @crazzzycat that’s amazing! Well done you - such a great feeling isnt it!

My motivation is suffering a bit this week as I feel though I am going through the motions but trying really hard to keep at it.

Today’s food:
B: Berry muesli and yoghurt
L: Chicken salad
D: Pasta and pesto ( May add a small chicken breast to this)
Snacks: Maltesers and possibly a couple of vodka and diet cokes as I am off to the pub tonight to watch football
Should put me between 1100 - 1300 for the day.
Very close to seeing 81 on the scales so that would be amazing for tomorrow’s official weigh in!

Keep up the great work everyone!

shoelace88 · 14/05/2019 13:30

Viva, wow, you had such a busy day yesterday! I felt that when you said sometimes you eat garbage to fuel your brain. Nothing compared to 17hr work days, but whenever I have a lot of school work and have to be glued to the computer, I find myself eating like shit. I'm trying to switch to mixed nuts because it takes work to chew them and my jaw gets tired. My logic is, I will eat less because of the extra chewing. 🤷‍♀️

Yesterday I had a small amount of birthday cake with my daughter and it kinda made me feel a little sick. Guess my body isn't used to all the sugar. Yay!

Breakfast: fruit and coffee
Lunch: salad
Dinner: Turkey & bean chili
Workout: fitness blender

Hope everyone kicks some serious ass today! Remember to love your body now because its gonna get you the body you want. 💐
