Half a stone off (or 3kg) in May

VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:44

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Evening all!

We went to the seaside today while it was nice. I resisted all the tempting seaside fare (the doughnuts, oh the doughnuts Blush), except for a Mr Whippy. Never turn down a Mr Whippy. Wink

Today looked like this;

B: All Bran cereal, whole milk and a multivitamin.

L: Baked potato and beans with salad.

S: Mr Whippy (I regret nothing)

D: Veggie burger with wedges, veg and a lunchbox sized individual malt loaf.

Total: 1,634.

Exercise was achieved wandering along the sea front with the dog and the child.

Hope you are all doing well!

ImpossibleNovelty · 11/05/2019 20:19

Ooh, I’m envious of the Mr Whippy! Ok food day today given we’ve eaten out twice.
B - nuts and babybel
L - halloumi salad
D - falafel, salad, babaganoush and beans (prob carby as heck but so delicious!)
S - dark choc, bud light and a whisky (later Grin)
Am going to weigh in on Monday I think, really hope I see some movement on the scales.

Sourdoughpizza · 11/05/2019 21:40

Started 7 May 11st 9, checked in yesterday and 11st 7. Maybe 8, they aren't digital scales! I'll do official weigh ins on a Sunday.

I've started measuring porridge rather than by eye, just a flat level scoop. Used to do that. I'm doing FODMAP so some things I loved are out like half a ripe banana. Have been loving having a big colourful salad for lunch- made a nicoise the other day. Steak stir fry was another fave.

I am missing sugar today. Had a bit of pineapple and about to have a cinammon tea- cinammon really helps the cravings and smells divine!

How do you know the calories in things? How do you know how many to eat? Need to look into that as it might help decision making to have a rough idea.

Crazzzycat · 11/05/2019 21:53

Evening everyone! I had a good day today. Spent most of it going round garden centres, successfully avoiding the cafes Grin

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more active, with fewer temptations.

DeadButDelicious · 12/05/2019 08:41

Morning all!

I'm going out for the day tomorrow so decided to do my weigh in today in case I don't have time in the morning.

1/5/19: 126.2kg

6/5/19: 125.5kg

12/5/19: 125.0kg

Loss so far in May: 1.2kg

Total loss so far: 17.9kg (2.8 stones/39.4 lbs)

I'm beginning to feel quietly confident about getting to 3 stone total loss this month.

No particular goals this week just stay within range and keep up the exercise.

How do you know the calories in things? How do you know how many to eat?

I use MyFitnessPal.

sazzle27 · 12/05/2019 09:29

I honoured my decision to weigh in today.. rather than try to settle back in and bluff a bit.

Numbers have shocked me... but it was a predicted gain not an unexpected one..
(I did live on carbs and cheese pretty much whilst away... I believe my crowning meal was 2 types of cheesy pasta, extra parmesan and some gnocci in a semi cheese sauce... with garlic bread on the side)

So no one to blame but myself!

Here goes...

Current weight: 93.3kg 🥺🤬🤯
May's start weight: 90.5kg
Loss Gain in May: 2.8kg

Initial start weight: 94.2kg
Total loss in 2019: 0.9kg

Ladyyoyo · 12/05/2019 10:07

Hi all,
I was busy this week end so far with dîner Friday night: 2 glasses of white wine, and Pasta siciliana, I resisted to the chocolate cake, and I was very happy to have only 0.6 pound on Saturday morning!
Saturday 1 porridge for breakfast, and 1 MRP for lunch and this morning all gone plus an extra. So far since Tuesday I am at -2,2 lbs! 🥳 . I love Pickslim products!

OhTheRoses · 12/05/2019 10:15

Hmm. It goes up; it comes down. Lost 7lb in April. So far May is consistently up 2lb from that or down 2lb from that but I cannot break the barrier.

Official ww weigh in 7pm tomorrow. Was 13st4lb last time, two weeks ago. Doubt it will be better than 13st3.5lb tom.

cricketmum84 · 12/05/2019 10:46

Scales are showing another couple of pounds off since fridays weigh in. I'm being strict now though and not going anywhere near the scales until next Friday.

I had red wine last night out of my weekly points but my stomach isn't thanking me for it this morning :(

I don't tend to eat breakfast or lunch on a weekend and maybe have some fruit and then a main meal in the evening.

Last night was a point free chickpea curry on a bed of wasabi rocket with sweet potato and red onion bhajis, the homemade garlic flatbread and yoghurt and mint.

Tonight DH is doing a joint of meat for him and the kids so I'm going to finish off my curry with more rocket and some Cous cous.

Currently sat in the sun with my book and sugar free squash half watching DSs cricket match 🌞

Hey everyone! Good to hear people doing well! I went over calories yesterday but had a lot of exercise so had a 1000+ deficit, although it doesn’t feel good knowing I was 800 over normal calorie intake.
Out for the day today, although I made my yoghurt and muesli breakfast to take with me on the train. Food today is looking like:
B: berry muesli and yoghurt
L: Pizza at a restaurant (thin crust and only two toppings so not great but could be worse!!)
D: Steak stir fry
Snacks: I’ve had a latte this morning and will likely cafe again with DP this afternoon as he’s completed his half marathon. Going to try and skip my daily chocolate treat as I am going to be on maintenance calories today, luckily I’ve had some big deficits over the last few days so trying not to make myself feel too bad about it.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Crazzzycat · 12/05/2019 12:39

sazzle27 I “gained” 2 kg over Easter, but all of that (and more) came off a few days after I went back to my diet plan. Fingers crossed it will be the same for you!

It does sound like you had a great holiday!

OhTheRoses hang on in there! April was like that for me, even before the Easter indulgence. But once I broke through that plateau, the weight started falling off at a much faster rate than usual. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you as well!

Everyone else, congrats on all those losses Smile I still haven’t broken through the 80kg barrier, but that’s ok. Patience is a virtue, and all that...

VivaFrida · 12/05/2019 14:35

Helloooo All! Welcome to

Star DAY 12 Star

Sorry late check in for me as I was busy!

Went for a run this morning (10.5km) before breakfast, then after breakfast (porridge, banana, strawberries, zero percent yogurt) walked to the pool and had a swim (60 lengths) - then lunch (eggs, bacon, beans, yogurt) and now chillaxing in the garden waiting for Tesco delivery. Dinner is going to be a big veg stew as today so far has been light on the vegs.

Thank you for the fake nan recipe cricket!

Enjoy the sunshine, all Smile Smile Smile

Good morning everyone. Its Mother's day over here, so special shout out to all the mothers. 💐🌹⚘🌷

Ive been staying on track with both food and exercise! I'm excited to meet my first goal of 145lbs. It won't be this week but definitely this month. Congratulations to everyone who has loss weight, extra love to anyone struggling, and welcome to everyone who just joined.

Breakfast: coffee and fruit
Lunch: egg omelet with veggies
Dinner: TBD (my husband insisting we go out for mother's day)
Snack: banana boat & granola bar
Exercise: rest day

Tomorrow is my middle daughter's birthday! I'll be baking cupcakes & a cake today, wish me luck. Lol I WILL NOT EAT IT!

shoelace88 · 12/05/2019 15:23

Here's a lb of fat. I know a single lb doesn't sound like a lot but it's actually a HUGE accomplishment. Be proud of yourself!

VivaFrida · 12/05/2019 15:33

but what I really want to hear is... what is a BANANA BOAT SNACK? SHOELACE?

I really hope so Crazzzy! Had an ease back in yesterday, and more in plan today, with the idea of really hitting it tomorrow. Definitely felt the difference in portion sizes last night, tummy grumbling as I went to bed but I knew I had had my day's worth of food..

Had a protein/low sugar shake thing this morning as took kids to swimming lessons with no breakfast.. resisted chocolate bars...
Lunch out of a jacket/beans/cheese with minuscule amount of coleslaw and a side salad with no dressing..
dinner is as yet undecided, but DP is in board with healthy eating and has actually noted a start date for himself tomorrow in the shared schedule.. fingers crossed for some moral support there!

Not brilliant food choices so far, but unfortunately it is bloomin' difficult on Sundays when we have the children due to swimming lessons being sorted where their mum lives but a good 40+ minutes away - hard on all of us to drive there, back, and then back again to drop them home so Sundays are predominantly "out" days now due to swimming... easier when we can see my family with them, but not possible this week due to being unwell...

Ladyyoyo · 12/05/2019 21:28

Woua Viva Frida congratulations for the 10km run! I don’t remember the last time I did it!
Today has been a good day with Pancakes for the breakfast, but Pickslim pancakes low in carbs and calories😀 but it really does the job! For lunch I had sa salad with a Pickslim French souffle : not bad at all! And for diner, I had a family diner with a home made chili: but no rice for me 😉. Let’s wait for tomorrow morning result!

OhTheRoses · 12/05/2019 21:32

I have had greek yoghurt and rhubarb, carrot and coriander soup for lunch with a salad, and just didn't fancy supper. But have had a g&t.

fruitpastille · 12/05/2019 22:23

I've decided to give 16:8 fasting a go as not seeing much change on the scales. So this weekend I've eaten between 12.30 and 8.30pm. Just a cuppa with a bit of milk in the morning and herbal tea at night. It seems simple but I might struggle tomorrow as I'm usually at work before 8am so it will feel like a long morning!

shoelace88 · 12/05/2019 23:13

A banana boat is a banana slice in half long way, with peanut or almond butter (whip cream or yogurt would be good2) spread over it, sprinkled with dark chocolate chips/shredded coconut/ granola/raisins (whatever you like) and drizzled with honey. 🍽

Sourdoughpizza · 12/05/2019 23:43

Decided to keep track of diet to try and make better choices. Gosh I snack a lot.

Today I've had:

Porridge, brazils, seeds, almond milk, natural yoghurt, blueberries, ground flax
Small slice spelt toast and egg
Seabream and salad
Grapes, olives, cheese, pineapple, walnuts, rice cake and peanut butter

2000 calories. No exercise. Cooked a whole artichoke for the first time, that was fun.

Sourdoughpizza · 12/05/2019 23:50

Oops double counted, glad I spotted that. 1550 calories, feels about right.

cricketmum84 · 13/05/2019 06:23

Happy Monday everyone! Well I think my body has finally caught on to the vegetarian diet and I'm losing quickly now! I'm down into the 20s!! I haven't seen that number on the scale for at least 18 months.

Current weight: 20 stone 12lbs
Loss for May so far: 8lbs
Loss for 2019 so far: 4 stone 4 lbs

Plan for today is fruit for breakfast and snacks, salad for lunch with 10 olives and 40g of reduced fat Greek style cheese, I'm doing a roast chicken Nando's style for the family tonight so need to decide what to do for me? I'm thinking maybe a tofu curry with cauliflower rice?

Hope you all have happy and successful weeks ahead!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 13/05/2019 07:18
