VivaFrida · 30/04/2019 15:44

A fresh slate for May!

Carrying over from the April thread but new joiners are welcome.

Please join this thread - all plans are included (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, no-carbers, eating-only-blue-food eaters).

We are here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

Official start: tomorrow, May 1st.

My starting weight for May is 60.0 kgs and getting to 57-ish kg or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Startoftheyear2019 · 10/05/2019 08:12

Well I'm the party pooper, I weighed myself this morning and haven't lost anything. I've been calorie counting carefully but it hasn't resulted in weight loss. I'm sticking with it. Next weigh in will be Tuesday. Good luck to everyone for today.

Barbie222 · 10/05/2019 10:02

Hello all, can I join? Looking to lose 2st, calorie counting and upping exercise. Great to read all your stories x

VivaFrida · 10/05/2019 10:49

Good morning lard destroyers buddies!!

It's

Star Day TEN!! Star

we made it into double digits! Smile

I want to congratulate all the great losses funky, cricketmum, lazymoz, ladyyoyo & all!

If you haven't lost weight yet, such as Startoftheyear2019, and snooksmcgee please don't get disheartened, sometimes it takes a while for the body to adjust to changes. Give it a couple of weeks at least. (Gosh, I wish I was able to take my own advice! First STS in about 2 months and I was already googling "water fast"! But will be strong and not fail prey to fad diets: sus-tain-a-ble is my new middle name).

shoelace your muffuletta comment made me lol!! :D And, yes, the period monster hunger is a real challenge!!

wellwastricky the same has happened to me, mistaken the calories per 100 gr for the calories per portion... I normally take an 'emergency apple" with me.

Welcome Barbie222, what is your target for May? Or any interim targets?

deadbutdelicious, yes, isn't the feeling of being lighter and nimbler great? I love that I can climb the stairs much more quickly now.

I am off work today - we-hey!! I did a workout after DS2 went to school, then a bit of faffing round the house (hoovering under bed and finding not one, not two but THREE of dh's disappeared t-shirts... oopsies, we must hoover under bed more often!!) then I am going swimming and meeting a friend for lunch... Ladies who lunches r us! We are going to Pret because it's so easy to choose something that will not ruin the plan from there. I have a bit of a Pret habit.

But the news of the day for me is.... now I have been TWO DAYS without eating any chocolate mini eggs... I can do this... I can do this...

Have a wonderful day all... HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Well done on all those losses!

It’s not my “official” weigh in day today, but I just wanted to share my excitement of seeing 80.2 on the scales today. I’m so close to being in the 70s now. I think I might cry when I finally hit that number after more than 4 months of dieting!

Hopefully there won’t be an epic weightloss stall over the next few days/ weeks Smile

VivaFrida · 10/05/2019 10:54

Crazzzycat that is truly wonderful. These 10kg barriers are HUGE motivators, aren't they? So so close!!

The plateau has been broken - 1.5lbs today off making 5lbs lost in total for May!
I've still not had any alcohol, I think its 12 days now, my liver will be thanking me!

chillychicken · 10/05/2019 13:27

Hi all, can I join?

I have a PT but have always struggled to control my diet so I signed up to James Smith Academy (you can use the unlimited trial for free or pay to have personalised programs written) and I'm so happy that I did!
I used the calculator on his website to work out my TDEE and my target calories to be in a calorie deficit, popped those along with the protein target into MFP and have logged everything I've eaten since April 29th. It's amazing how things soon add up and I've realised that I've always guessed too low on calories (I now weigh everything. 50g of rice is at least half the portion I used to have!)
I've ditched alcohol, and don't miss it at all. If I want chocolate, I'll have it, but I weigh it and log it. If I go over one day then it's not a problem, I'll just reduce my kcals for the next day.
I'm aiming for 3 gym sessions and 2 home workout sessions a week.
My start weight was 60kg and I'm 58.7 today. This is the lowest I've been in 5 yrs. I'm thrilled!

shoelace88 · 10/05/2019 15:03

Good morning y'all! Congrats, @cricket on the 2lb weight loss. @snooks, breaking a plateau is phenomenal, great job! @crazzy, you're so close! That's exactly how I feel about being back in the 140s. I'm so excited to NEVER see 150 on my scale again!

I have to grocery shop from my phone today. Lol Technology is the best! 🤗 Yesterday I received my final grade for one of my classes, 103%, Eekk! 🥳 My middle daughter is turning 6 on Monday, so I need to make a cake for home and cupcakes for school. Also, my husband got a job offer the other day for a better job working closer to home. Y'all, this job would give him about 3 more hours a day at home, save us about $350 a month, and comes with a few extra bucks. 🤩💃 A lot has been happening this week and I'm still managing to stay on track.

Breakfast: coffee &fruit
Lunch: salad
Dinner: baked chicken with homemade salsa & side salad
Snack: granola bar & apple
Workout: fitness blender - off to do that right meow 😉

TodoDoingDone · 10/05/2019 18:05

Hi all, can i join too? I want to lose at least 3k too. I don't know exactly what I weigh, but judging by clothes, it's about 3kg too much. I want to get to 60 kg. Ideally 58 kg, but let's see, baby steps and all that. Im late 40s and premenopausal which does not help. Neither does my biscuit habit. I've got a lot of stress on my life and comfort eat. Time to change! My plan is to cut down this weekend and face the scaley on Monday. Your stories are inspiring!

OhTheRoses · 10/05/2019 20:49

It's been a very tough week and I'm ashamed to say I'm sipping pink. Contemplating whether it's as well as or instead of supper.

ImpossibleNovelty · 10/05/2019 21:29

Sorry you’ve had a tough week OhTheRoses. You definitely need supper though. Is there something nice but not too ‘naughty’ that you can have?

Startoftheyear2019 · 10/05/2019 23:02

So pleased for you @Crazzzycat!

VivaFrida · 11/05/2019 09:35

Hello Happy Chub Slayers! How are you?

Are you ready for

Star DAY ELEVEN Star?

I am going to attack it like a boss! I have run 10km this morning and feel amazeballs now. But I also desperately need a shower as my smell is wilting flowers.

Have a wonderful weekend all.

OhTheRoses · 11/05/2019 10:08

After 3 glasses of wine and seconds of curry my morning weigh was respectable. Hopefully a very sensible weekend will yield results on Monday.

FattySmith · 11/05/2019 10:46

Well done on all the losses! 🏅

I’ve been reading your updates for motivation whilst being slightly disheartened by my plateau. A sneaky peak on the scales this morning (my weigh in day is Monday really) shows I seem to have broken it! TF for that. 😅

Current weight- 11st 2.5
Total loss for May- 2.1lb
Total loss (since October) 3st 8.7lb
Final goal 10st 7

Inspired by your goal setting I’m looking forward to getting under 70kg 💪

Thank you for helping me stick at it 🙏

Lookingforpizza · 11/05/2019 10:50

Morning all! Another good day for me yesterday, was under my calories and didn’t feel as though I’d missed out. Weekends are always trickier, DP and I got ourselves down to park run but there’s a food festival in the city today so have to resist temptations there. Today’s food:

Breakfast: Berry muesli and yoghurt
Lunch: Chicken salad with hummus and some rye bread
Dinner: Creamy chicken pesto pasta (DP running a half marathon tomorrow so said I’d make him something carby, even a small portion for me is looking at around 750 cals!)
Will try to limit snacks as much as possible, but foresee us stopping for a coffee and cake in the park later if weather stays nice!

Barbie222 · 11/05/2019 11:12

Morning weigh at 12 st 1 hoping that I can get below 12 st this week!!!!

Barbie222 · 11/05/2019 11:13

Sending weight loss vibes to all!!

Mabellavender · 11/05/2019 15:01

I weigh myself every day and I didn’t lose anything for a few days, I think it was because I wasn’t logging my teas and coffees, I have semi skimmed milk and 2 spoons of half spoon sugar! So over a day if I drink quite a few the calories add up!

So yesterday I made sure I logged every morsel of food and drink I ate and made sure I didn’t go over( actually went under by 200 cals) and today I weigh a pound less! So better than nothing.

My official weigh in day is Tuesday so still got time to make more progress. I’m still really enjoying using mfp Smile

sazzle27 · 11/05/2019 16:08

Right. So.
Back from holiday last night, a final takeaway as the house was bare of food...

Will weigh in tomorrow, and back on it!
I am expecting a gain as I pretty much lived on carbs while out there, although not as much alcohol as anticipated... or perhaps as much but in less glasses as the Cypriots are very generous with their measures!

VivaFrida · 11/05/2019 19:05

Welcome back sazzle27!

I must confess that after 2.5 months of being super focused tonight I had an attack of "sod it Saturday": we made healthy curry (on plan) and I ate that ...but also some nan bread and popadoms with chutney... oopsies!! Still within weekly points so hopefully won't have done too much damage! I enjoyed every bit of it! I went for a run this morning and will run again tomorrow morning, so hopefully this lovely food will fuel me whilst running.

Have a lovely evening!!

@VivaFrida naan bread is so high in points isn't it :(

I've done a point free chickpea curry for tonight but have made my own garlic and coriander flatbreads for 3 points each. I mix equal quantities of self raising flour and fat free yoghurt and add salt, pepper, ground garlic powder and dried coriander. Mix and roll out into flat breads about 0.5cm thick and then cook in a fry frying pan a few minutes each side until they colour and start to bubble. They are an excellent alternative to naan x
