Half a stone off in April (3kgs for the 'metrix')

Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Just checking in as this time of day is really hard for me. I usually watch tv for an hour and a half before bed with a treat or 2. I've got a 38cal options hot chocolate today with a dash of milk. Much better than a beer and a chocolate bar.

Today I learnt that 9 dried apricots are too many as I've been farting all afternoon! Confused

DelphiMum · 02/04/2019 21:49

@spugzbunny options hot choc is my go to evening snack-avoidance tactic. Good call

AdventureTravelDreamer · 02/04/2019 21:56

Around 1200 cals here today so happy with that. Think it has to be this low as otherwise the weight loss would be so slow I would give up! I am hoping that once I get to maintenance I can up it to 1600 cals 5 days and have a few more for wine on 2 days!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 02/04/2019 21:57

And I'm another one who has an options sachet if I want a sweet treat in the evening Brew

Mamimawr · 02/04/2019 23:10

Day two on plan Halo with two mini malteasers bunnies as syns.

I've brushed my teeth and gone to bed now so at least I won't eat any more.

aweedropofsancerre · 03/04/2019 07:01

Starting today. Making a pot of vegetable soup for dinner and going to eat apples during the day . I need to be quite drastic to start with to kick start any weight loss.

HouseHelp2019 · 03/04/2019 07:05

Good luck today everyone. I’ve meal planned for around 1500 calories today and I’m going to go to the gym.

I’ve got a holiday coming up in June and I want to be a lot lighter and fitter by then.

sazzle27 · 03/04/2019 07:09

DP was in a sorry for himself mood (has been on and off since ruining his back last week and being in bed for a couple of days).. and he wanted chinese on the way home from physio..
I totally used the excuse of not wanting to be unsupportive and joined him!
Not quite sure on the myfitnesspal amounts but even though i went over my daily 1610, i remained under 2000....
Not convinced the values were right, but it was a best guess time and today is a new day!
On placement at the moment so unable to take my nice precooked dinners to microwave.. and rapidly running out of time to prep this morning! Confused

frenchonion · 03/04/2019 07:16

Not a bad day of eating yesterday, although I did have a low carb brownie with cream and two glasses of wine! Weighing in at 124.4lbs / 9st12 today. Going to be saintly today!

VivaFrida · 03/04/2019 07:18

Good morning all, G'day, bonjour, buongiorno, kalimera and guten tag (other languages available on request), it's DAY 3, hello to all and welcome to the new joiners!

I am another one in favour of options chocolate, although while staying in a hotel I discovered Aero hot chocolate, it has 98 cals compared to option's 40 but it is about 10 times nicer and a real treat. I may swap to that one instead!

Having a quiet mint tea before I start my early am exercise programme (ouch) - day 2 went to plan and tonight my challenge is that I have been invited for early supper by a colleague and his family (I am working away from home for a few days) and I am going to have to rethink my eating strategy - I have had brunch so far and a light dinner which worked well - so I think I am going to have a lighter lunch, save some calories/points for dinner, and try to eat lightly without being rude to my kind hosts. Fortunately my stomach has shrunk so my legendary 'healthy appetite' (aka the biscuit monster) has diminished a bit.

Somebody (harper30?) previously asked about weighing frequency - I prefer weekly because daily feeds my obsessive steak and monthly would make me lose focus.

One thing I would add is, and I hope I do not sound too 'evangelic' by saying it, that I try to find 'intrinsic' rewards for this new lifestyle, this new way of eating (in fact, my old way of eating of which I lost track through life stress and challenges) as having more energy, sleeping better, coping more effectively with the day's workload, having a sunnier psychological outlook, rather than associating it only with external rewards.

Weight loss will be great but ultimately it's my inner/mental health I am looking after by eating well.

How did your day 2 go and have you had any challenges which you have overcome successfully?

Can I join please?

12.1st at the start and hoping to be 11.10st by end of April - my 50th!

So not quite 7lb but you never know!

GottaGetUp · 03/04/2019 08:05

Good morning! I said last night that I would weigh this morning, but I forgot (Confused) that it’s my birthday today...

So, I’ll wait til today’s damage is done and get a baseline tomorrow instead 😄

spinningpenguin · 03/04/2019 08:59

Happy birthday gotta get up x Not too bad yesterday although I did cave in and hade few fruit jellies in front of TV in the evening . Today I'm having half an Avo with couscous and tomato garlicky sauce for lunch, perhaps banana for an afternoon snack and fish for dinner.

VivaFrida · 03/04/2019 09:30

Happy birthday GottaGetUp!!!

And spinningpenguin the evening in from of the TV is the healthy eater's Witching Hour!!!

I'm in! Started at 61.3k on 1st April, would like to be 58.3k by the 1st May. More vanity loss than anything else but I want to feel comfortable in shorts before the long Portuguese summer kicks in. I've printed out a calendar and stuck it on the wall next to my scales so I can record my weight daily (I know you shouldn't weigh daily but it's worked for me in the past). Going to get back into my veg smoothie routine.

DelphiMum · 03/04/2019 10:29

Happy Birthday @gottagetup. Enjoy your day and restart tomorrow.

I was up every 30mins with baby last night. Now my usual tactic would be to substitute sleep for food....

Crazzzycat · 03/04/2019 11:13

Happy birthday GottaGetUp

I got quite excited when I jumped on the scales this morning and saw a loss of a whole kg since Monday. Unfortunately it turned out that that amazing loss was mainly the result of a wobbly bathroom tile. Grin Still, hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.

I’m doing very well on exercise so far, hitting my 10k step target each day. There’s some bad weather forecast for today and tomorrow though, so not sure how easy it will be to hit that target every day this week. May be I’ll just have to make do with hitting it only 4 or 5 days. It’s still better than nothing Smile

Toooldtobearsed2 · 03/04/2019 11:21

Can i join in too?
Started Keto yesterday, so will be interesting to see how it goes. Chose Keto because my eating habits were so horrendous I felt I needed to reeducate my taste buds😁
Starting weight 11st 4lbs
Target weight 9st 4lbs(!)
Target loss for April 7lbs

Good luck everyone!

harper30 · 03/04/2019 14:39

Happy birthday!!!
Another good day yesterday and so far today, I went about 70 calories over yesterday but not going to beat myself up about it!
Today I've actually eaten so low that I have enough calories to eat the entire frozen pizza I've got for tea if I feel like it! Was only going to have half with salad but if I cave and eat the whole thing I'll still be under!

harper30 · 03/04/2019 14:58

Also would recommend this ready meal from Morrison's, didn't realise it was vegan when I bought it, it was delish!
Only 311 calories

Half a stone off in April (3kgs for the 'metrix')

⚘⚘ Happy Birthday GottaGetUp ⚘⚘

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 03/04/2019 15:53

Found you!

1st April 11st 4.2lbs

4 lbs behind the schedule I had hoped to keep. But I was 12st 3.2lbs at the beginning of Feb so doing ok!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 03/04/2019 16:02

I've read back there's so many of you this month!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 03/04/2019 21:12

Had a sneaky look at the scales just now and so happy to see the weight finally start to drop. Think I'm in the right mindset this time around.... No snacking at all this week, a small miracle for me 😂. Usually good all day and cave once kids are in bed but not this time. How's everyone else getting on?

Dhalandchips · 03/04/2019 21:17

Got myself a personal trainer! I'm aiming to get better at my sports and need to improve my core and upper body strength. Weight loss isn't my main goal (eek!) So I've got to eat A LOT more protein! Handy that I love steak and lentils! My trousers definitely feel looser though!
